    - End of Year At the end of the year, what do i need to do in money for taxes... do i need to generate a report or start a new file for the next year?     - Support for more than one Sch. C? Does Money Small Business 2004 Support more than one Schedule C? I have 2 sole proprietorships and my wife is a Self Employed Realtor sole proprietor. We file Jointly and need to keep track of income and expenses for at least 2 and preferably 3 or more Schedule C's plus all our personal expenses. If Money does not support multiple schedule C's directly, does any one know how we can do this better than the following? We are presently using Quicken Premier Home and Business 2004 with a different number series for each business but they are all connected to the same Sch C categories in Quicken for taking a tax snapshot without exporting everything to TurboTax.     - Discover Card not downloading finance charges? Has anybody ever had this happen? I had to change discover card account numbers due to fradulent use on my account. Ever since then, I can't download the finance charges into Microsoft Money. The finance charges show up when I go to the discovercard.com website. However, when I download my transaction data into MS-Money it only shows the balance as being the sum total of the balance transfer and recent transactions (purchases and payments) attributed to my account's new card number. It does not show any of the finance charges for the past 3 months. Thus, my balance is off by a considerable amount.     - Can I do this? Money98 I have an old computer w/win 98, no longer connected to the internet, and is pretty much collecting dust. When I got the computer, it came with disks for Money 98 and also Quicken basic 98. I have never installed either one, and have no idea what the programs are capable of, but will bring the old computer out of moth balls if either of these programs can perform a certain task. I am in need of a program that I can make a master list of entries, and then have each entry automatically go to a sub category by means of code of some sort (i.e., all items with 101 to go to sub 101, all items with 102 to sub 102, etc.). Could some kind person tell me if this is possible in either of these programs? I will gladly buy a tutorial book on either program and muck through it myself, but don't want to spend the money until I know it is possible to do this. Thanks!     - can I convert Money 98 file from old computer with Money 2004? I have Money 98 on an old computer but have recently upgraded to new computer with Windows XP. If I install Money 2004 on the new computer, I should be able to copy my old Money 98 file to my new computer and open it with Money 2004, right?     - 2004 Report--account balance wrong If I run a historical report of account balances, one IRA account (opened in 2001) shows a balance of $50,000 before that time...including back to 1900! The opening cash balance of the account is set to 0. There are no 50K round transactions (or combinations thereof) in the "real" account. But, obviously, any report run before the opening of this account have an extra $50,000 in them. When I do a report of transactions for the account, there are none before 2001.     - Converting to Money 2004 from Quicken2002 I am trying to decide whether to stick with Quicken or move to Money. TaxCut and MS are offering a good rebate but I cannot convert my data with the trial edition of Money. It provides the very useful message,"Your Quicken file could not be converted." I sometimes wonder if they pay people to think these up. Checking this group suggests that this is not an isolated incident. If I cannot convert, I cannot switch. There is too much to enter.     - Manual updates of Stock Info I have Money 2000 on an XP system. There is a Federal Goverment (ours) site that I get information from reguarding retirement investment, they don't have a downloadable capability. Yes, I can download this information manually. However, I was hopeful that someone has a simple program with a simple data revision routine that will do this for me. I think the software that does this is 'TFFC' and I don't see why I can't have a data file on my desktop where I change the dates & dollar amounts just before I run this on a weekly basis. I'm good at using DOS to edit/run programs and to edit data files. What I would like to do is cut/past from the web site into the program/data file, then run this into Money.     - Earmark Funds within an Account I would like to earmark funds within an account for a specific purpose. For example, I received some birthday money and deposited it into my savings account before I started using MS Money. Suppose my total savings account balance is $1,000, $200 of which is my birthday money. Is there any feature that would breakdown my savings account total into the various earmarked funds (ie birthday money)?     - Internet Updates Hello, I am using Money 2003 Standard OEM edition, and I have frequent problems using the Internet Updates. More than half the time, updating my stock prices will cause the system to hang, and I am forced to do Cntrl-Alt-Delete to end the Money process in Windows XP. This occurs both on my Gateway Desktop and Dell laptop. Is anyone else experiencing similiar problems? Does anyone know of a fix?     - Upgrade problems Money 98 to 2004 Deluxe Hi, We're a little frustrated at Money 2004 Deluxe, which behaves differently than did Money 98. For one, it is automatically mismatching transactions with payees without asking us anymore. We don't understand why the mismatch occurs in the first place, and need to find a way to turn that off, or make Money prompt us each time. Also, our imported data included a budget, which Money 2004 dutifully imported, but now our primary checking account isn't considered in the budget reports! Any way we can fix this stuff?     - Monthly budget report shows debt that isn't anywhere else If I run reports>Monthly Budget, I show an expense under the DEBT category that is not anywhere in my budget. By this, I mean if I go to the budget planner and edit the current budget, the debt is not there. If I look in Bills & Deposits, it is not there. If I re-open all my closed debt accounts, put them into the debt planner, then go to tools>options>planner and select "reset debt plan", the expense Still shows up I think I've covered all the bases of most posts I've read, so if anyone can give me some ideas It would certainly help out.     - MONEY 2003 died have been running 2003 for more than year. Purchased as download from MS who followed up with mailed disk. Cannot get it to load now instead it attempts to "install" and runs into error "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that in unavailable" please use feature "C:\docume~1\gatewe~1\locals~1\temp" and then a follow up error msg "error 1706. This loan keeps showing up in my budget under debt evev though there is a zero balance and the account is closed.     - Money 2004 Freezes IE 6 SP Browser Hello: I'm using Money 2004 Canadian version and I've noted that it seems to cause IE 6 SP to freeze sometimes. I've tried making the MS Browser the preferred browser in MS Money, as well as using "my default browser" which of course is IE 6 SP but it doesn't seem to matter. To be more precise, it seems that sometimes when Money is open, the IE window freezes and in fact, you cannot even "ALT-TAB" over from Money to IE.     - Cost of Goods Sold I have tried to find information on cost of goods sold for Microsoft Money 2004 Small Business. I was able to setup COGS accounts in Quickbooks but seems like there is no ability to add these type of accounts to the Money program. Am I missing something? I am now ready to upgrade to 2004 and it looks like the standard version no longer supports investment tracking, as prior standard editions have.     - Archive problems with Money 2002 I have searched through this forum for topics related to archiving and I did not see one with my particular issue. the general gist of the posts that I have seen, however, is to avoid archiving. That said, I'm hoping that someone has a better answer. I will try to be brief: When I tried to archive my transactions today, I noted immediately that my bank account balance went to negative $ 15k. Several of my credit card accounts were also badly messed up. Upon further research, it seems that any transaction associated to the cash portion of my brokerage account was not being archived. All other transactions were archived. I didn't try to sort through the hundreds (thousands?) of transactions to come up with a trial balance, but this seems to be the root cause. 1. I am sure that I selected all accounts to be archived during the archive process. 2. I am sure that none of my investment accounts appeared in that list. 3. My Money file is up to about 20 MB and I really would like to get rid of some of the older transactions (date less than 1/1/2003). Is there something that I can do?     - Unable to download into Money Delux 2004 I had my Money 2004 working properly, so that downloads in Money OFX format from my bank would automatically trigger the function in Money that prompted me to import the file. However, for some reason, this has now stopped working. When I am in my bank's website, and click on the download to Money option, it flashes what appears to be the download window, and then completes, but a) never gives me the file save/open option and b) Money sits quietly running in the background and does not recognize a file waiting for its attention.     - A little budget understanding, please I am a new Money 2004 user after using Quicken for 10 years. I have noticed the monthly bills I have assigned dollar amounts to show up in the Budget planner. Underneath these routine bills, another budget entry is there entitled "other expenses for . . . ." If I leave the "other expenses for {whatever monthly bill I have setup} blank, it shows up during the review of the budget with no amount budgeted for that catergory. Even though I have a dollar amount setup for the monthly bill. However, if I enter the same dollar amount as the monthly bill, it than shows a subtotal double the amount I am really having to pay. And it effects my bottom line as far as realistic total expenses. Also is there a way to delete more than one Payee at a time? With the hundreds I have, I wanted to wipe most of them out. Thank You! It appears that the 2004 Std version does not do as much
as the 2002 Std version. For example, the 2002 version
allows you to estimate tax withholding and track
investments. According to the back of the box, the 2004
Std version does not do these things (I'd have to buy
the "Deluxe" version).

Can anyone using 2004 Std confirm this? Thanks.
