Cal,
I wanted to reply and close the circle here at least a bit <G>. I copied
the sample data over as you suggested and was able to access it without an
issue - problem is the sample data does not include any "live" dataq
requiring Internet access.
I opend my data file using the check box at the log on to prevent connecting
to the Internet - this resulted in my getting a more stable interaction with
my data but the Portfolio Manager view was blank with no selections in the
left pane. This to is a findable occurence in the knowledge base but I was
unable to use any of the information successfully (I did a repair, added some
trusted zones, did a full uninstall and clean re-install with OneCare stopped
etc...)
I finally accepted defeat and call Microsoft support. I was referred to
artilce 836197 and then to method 3, item 3 which is basically the
installation of MSXML 4.0 SP2 - item 3 has a link to the page "MSXML 4.0
Service Pack 2 (Microsoft XML Core Services)".
I downloaded the SP - installed it - fired up Money and went straight to the
Portfolio Manager page which was now fuly populated and looked just as I
would have expected it to look. I banged around for about 30 minutes without
a problem.
So - short answer - install MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 even though the page
does not list Vista as one of the supported operating systems (specifically
for the record I am running Vista 63 Home Premium).
I hope this information helps someone else.
