    - Budgeting for Insurance I'm using MS Money Essentials and I want to account for my Insurance costs on a monthly basis in my budget. My Insurance is actually only due every 6 months, but I want to put money aside every month so I'll have enough when it comes due. So what is the best way to do this? I've added the "Insurance" category to the budget but since I don't actually write an expense to any payee every month it always shows as $0.00. Should I setup a "fake" Insurance Bill that I need to pay every month so that the budget will reflect it?     - What's going on with Plus? I just installed MS Money Plus from Money 2006 and found these issues: 1. In Portfolio view, the Total Portfolio Value line that used to show the totals for the 3 columns I'm displaying are now all the same value and appear to be Today's Change. How do I change them to reflect the totals for the 3 columns (in my case, Total Change, Cost Basis and Market Value)? 2. Review Portfolio shows me a blank screen.     - downloaded Money Essentials, cannot open anything I just bought and downloaded and registered Money Essentials after using Moaney Plus for the trial period. After installation, Essentials does not put a shortcut on the desktop and no other links to open ONLY Eseentials. So I got to open up my old link to Money Plus. When I go to sign into Passport, it gives me a message that Essential cannot open previous versions of Money or its files.     - Can't group by account name in Portfolio Manager (Money 2007) all of a sudden in the last 2 days i can no longer set the view to group by account in portfolio manager. It lets me select but it instantly removes any accounts in there. I can group by Investment type, Risk, Currency, all the other options and values show up.     - funds transfer to another account. I'm in the process of setting up Money+ Deluxe for the first time. So far so good considering I'm a newbie to using any kind of personal finance software and thick as a brick when it comes to accounting. So please bear with me and please type slowly... I have two separate chequing accounts at my bank with one set up specifically for me to dump money into and to have mortgage payments automatically withdrawn from. I've been doing this for years at my bank and I've setup the same accounts in Money the same way. ie: check1 & check2 I have all transactions to date from Jan of this year entered and am currently in the ~tedious~ process of going through each transaction verifying against my bank statements and assigning to categories. I've "accepted" the transactions once they're complete but haven't reconciled anything yet as some transactions really have me stymied as to how to categorize them so that they don't throw my reports out of whack. Ordinarily, at the bank I transfer money from Check1 to Check2; VISA; etc. How do I categorize a transfer from Check1 to Check2 so that it doesn't appear in reports as an extra expense and income (in the Check2 acc't). It balances but, for example in Reports it shows that I'm spending twice on the mortgage than I actually am. Actually, a bit more as I generally transfer a few dollars more to cover fees and to maintain a small balance in check2.     - Investments - Buying and Selling on the Same Day I sometimes buy and sell a stock on the same day using Fidelity as the broker. When I download the information the next day, Money Plus consistently enters the transactions in the wrong order. The sell order is entered first. Since there are no shares, Money Plus always adds additional shares, then enters the sell order, followed by the buy order. So I need to correct the transactions manually by changing the buy date to a day earlier and deleting the added shares. Is there any other way to handle this.     - trying to re-install Money 2006 online - but Money wont let me sig In an attempt to re-install the files for Money 2006 online I am now stuck with the trial version of Money 2006 only and I cannot log into my passport account in order to download the full version of Money 2006. I Upgraded to Money 2006 roughly a year and a half ago by downloading the files for Money 2006 directly from Microsoftâ??s site. Recently I have been having a lot of trouble with Money 2006 and after trying to resolve it decided the best thing to do would be to uninstall and reinstall the files I originally downloaded. I found a very good post here to do just that. All seemed like it would go well, but it didnâ??t I currently have the â??trialâ?? version of Money 2006 only. And now I am unable to log into my passport account in order to re-download the full version of Money 2006. However, If I change the date back to 2008 or 2007 I receive a message telling me that my trial version is already out of date. Here is the real pain about this, I am able to log into my passport account in several places including the MS Money web site. I can log into my account and see the various accounts I have set up in Money there. I need to use this same passport account as it was the one I used when I originally downloaded Money 2006. No matter what I do within in MOney 2006 I get the message "Youâ??re sign in information could not be verifiedâ?? Any suggestions to help me with this?     - Loan account - which account do the payments come from? Hi, Something else that's giving me trouble. I've set up a loan account - all seems to be fine. It's a three year loan, and the first two payments had already been made when I set the thing up in Money. Money coped with this fine, and within the register of the loan account it now accurately shows the first two payments and the principal-element of each payment, together with the diminishing value of the outstanding loan. However, it doesn't seem to be linked in any way to the account from which the payments are actually being made. Conceptually it seems to me that the loan payments are made up of 1) an expense element (the interest) which needs to be debited from the bank account from which the payment is made, and 2) a transfer from the paying account to the loan account, whereby the amount outstanding is reduced. Anyway, how do Iink the regular monthly "bill" which I've set up within the account from which payments are made to the loan account itself? Cheers!     - Transaction which is part expense, part transfer I have a debit from an account associated with arranging a remortgage on a house. Part of the sum debited is a payment of legal expenses, so it belongs in the "mortgage expenses" category. Part of it is a sum which was used to reduced the amount of the sum owed to the lender. Any suggestions for how to deal with this? The loan reduction element is effectively a transfer to the loan account, but the "split" dialogue box only allows you to allocate a "withdrawal" to different categories, it doesn't let you split an amount between a withdrawal and a transfer.     - Bank of America sign in problems.. Hi All, I'm using the trial version of Money Essentials v17.0.8.1415 and Vista Home Premium. I have a Bank of America account for checking/savings and also a Visa account. The Visa account is "tied too" Bank of America, such that I can manage both accounts by logging in to the BofA website. My account password is ... just kidding. Seriously though, there is an "online ID," a "Password," and a "sitekey" that I have to match to a custom picture on the site. When setting up the account in Money, Money asks for a "passcode" but not a sitekey... This doesn't seem to be a problem because Money *is* able to correctly automatically download my checking and savings data. However I CAN"T get it to download the Visa credit card info. I located a setting on the BofA site for choosing the "default download format." changing this to the different settings, but this doesn't seem to help. THe Money help file suggests there may be a *second passord* that is for financial software access, but I can't find this on the BofA site... Has anyone else run into this? Ideas? Thanks in advance. I apply the payment as a credit, but when I print the customer statement it doesn't show up in credits.     - Need Help Managing Online Updates In Money Plus I can't figure out how to set up my Janus accounts using "manage online services". I have 3 Janus accounts which have about 10 different investments. During the set-up, Janus comes back with the 10 investment numbers and asks me to match them up with my 3 accounts. It won't let me use an account more than once so I cannot match all 10. The root problem seems to be that Money expects to see account numbers, but Janus transmits the individual investment numbers.     - Balance Not Matching Downloaded Balance Each time I download my balances, one account consistently adds $46,675.05 to the total. I finally figured out that the $46,675.05 shows up in the Opening Balance field on the Change Account Settings screen. I change the Opening Balance to $0 and click Done, but the $46,675.05 shows up the next time I download my balances. I never had this issue with Microsoft Money 2004. I buy mutual fund, bonds tax deferred through a company program, im set up to automatically update position from my brokerage, which gives me the balance . I don't pay my monthly Bills in a conventional way such as writing a check out or paying online for each individual bill, instead i have all bills charged to one credit card(cash back) and at the end of the month i pay that credit card in full.     - Car Loan as Line of Credit Hello, In MoneyPlusDeluxe I downloaded car loan transactions from the bank, with the goal being to import the data as a new account. M+D didn't recognize the import data as being for a loan but rather as a line of credit. After some struggle it just seemed easier to accept the forced account type of line of credit. It would be nice to associate the asset (Honda) with the loan, but that option's not available since the "loan" got put in as the other account type. Microsoft Money 2007 Deluxe

I am trying to archive my 2007 records as I have done every year. This year I finally got my 401(k) into Money. The problem
is when I ask Money to archive to clear out 2007 the list of accounts to archive does not list my 401(k) at all. So I select all
accounts I can and then in the cleaner file with only 2008 in it all of my paychecks from 2007 still remain in my register
(I'm assuming because the 401(k) is still attached to them and if they disappear things won't balance). Is there something
I can do so that this will not happen. As much as I like my paychecks this seems like an oversight either by me or MS.
