 - Money 2002 - Issues with Credit Card Payment I tried, many a time and many a method, to enter a credit card payment I had made into my checking account. It had the desired affect of debiting my checking balance, but it oddly increases my credit card debt by the same amount! (When, of course, it should reduce it.) What is wrong?  - Issues with Reconciling 401(k) investment Account Hello, When I try to reconcile my 401(k) account, I'm running the balancing "wizard", however none of the "Cash Transactions" for the given period are being moved to the "Investment Transations" as they have in the past. So now, when I look at the bottom left when I'm in the "Cash Transactions" account, it says "Updated on 6/30/03", but there are still cash transactions from April until June.  - Help! -discrepancy in starting balance Can someone pls. help me here? I have been working to try and resolve this starting balance issue with no luck. I have been able to reconcile the transactions of my most current bank statement. In short the difference is now zero. However, when I try and close out the balancing process I receieve a message that states "The starting balance calculated from your money records still does not match the starting balance entered from your statement."  - How do you UNACCEPT, after accepting? I accidently accepted a transaction that was to a different payee, but with the same amount. Now I am trying to correct the problem, but I can't figure out how to Unaccept and then click Change to select a different transaction. Is there an easy way to do this? All I know to do is delete the transaction, which submits the canceled payment option to Checkfree, and then resend and redown to get back to where I can accept the correct transaction.  - How to enter returned merchandise? Consider that I buy a radio from Wal-Mart and enter it as: Payee: Wal-Mart $35.00 Category: Electronics (expense) During the same month, I bring the radio back for a full refund. I make the following journal entry: Payee: Wal-Mart $35.00 Category: Other Income: Merchandise Returne (income) When I run the monthly income/expense report, the $35.00 is treated as an expense and also appears with income. If I'd like to view only expenses or income for the month, the report will be skewed. I could manually subtract out the $35.00 but that becomes cumbersome with more similar transactions. Is there a way to have these types of entries (purchase and return occuring within the same month) disappear on expense and income reports since they are irrelevant to the view I want?  - small business edition Hi, Now I am using quickbooks basic and am looking for a program that will be like it as far as memorizing invoices into a memorized transaction list for monthly, quarterly, semiannually, yearly billing. After these invoices are memorized then I need to be able to send them all out at once in whichever memorized group they are in like monthly, quarterly, etc. I cannot use your trial version because it is for the deluxe version and not the small business version.  - symbol / abbreviation When I click on PICK AN ACCOUNT TO USE, then OTHER OPEN ACCOUNTS, I see a symbol next to some of my credit card accounts (but not all)... the symbol looks like a diagonal H in front of the account name...sort of a "lightening" strike.  - File size increase After I synchronized my Money accounts with my MSN Money account my file size increased from 13,712 Kb to 2,095,168 Kb. I scanned for viruses and didn't find any. Obviously, this can't be the real file for my data anymore. It takes a very long time to update the file and to shut down Money.  - Some questions about transfers Hi- I just transfered my entire investment portfolio to a new account with my broker (internal transfer). When I downloaded the statements and everything online, the new account just lists "Transfer In" for the history for all my stocks and dividend, split and commission data is lost (there may be more data lost that I haven't realized yet). It still shows I bought it under my old account but now this changes my Gains and % Gains and everything. I am not really sure what to do. I would prefer to have it list all the commissions I paid as well as dividends recieved but I don't know how to do this. I hope this is clear what my problem is.  - Importing bank downloads I export transactions from my Virgin credit card accountand save to computer. When I go to import into money I told an error has occured and money will close down.  - transaction lost in 2004 I just upgraded from 2003 to 2004 yesterday. All went well. Today I did my usual daily Internet Update and one statement showed a newly downloaded transaction in my checking account. The problem is that it's not visible. In 2003 there would be a bold Accept/something for the newly downloaded transaction. Then I'd either accept it or edit it or whatever and the bold choices would go away. None of my transactions have this, nor can I see any newly changed transaction. I changed my view to "all transactions" and went back through all of them to 1997 thinking maybe an old transaction got changed by the upgrade. Nope. The Online Statement page shows "You have one statement to read" indicating my checking account. If I go to the Account List page, it shows "Tranasactions to read: 1" for my checking account. On 9/29/03 I went into each seperate account and recorded a 2 for 1 split, hence instead of recording a 2 : 1 split it ended up being a 6;1 split (nice if it was real), I would like to go back and erase all recorded splits and redo it to the correct one time 2 for 1. How can I erase the splits of the 29th, or can I just go back and reinstate my records to the date of Sept 28th, I have the money 2001 version, any help would be appreciated. Money refuses to let me enter an investment price of 100.82175, truncating it to 100.8218 for total value calculations and transaction listing, and only 100.822 in the portfolio listing. The Money 2004 Trial FAQ says that If I uninstall Money 2004 in the future, I have to reinstall my earlier version of Money from the original Money CD, but I do not have that CD because my Money 2001 was supplied by the original equipment manufacturer (Compaq).  - Update Prices Online & Disconnect Money seems to have a mind of its own! I want to update prices online by clicking "update prices online" in my portfolio. I find that anytime I open Money it has already updated prices without my instruction to do so. I want it to update only when I trigger the action and not before.  - ING Direct Did others get email from ING Direct about their changing the ability to download transactions with Money? Today I received an email which said "Beginning October 15, 2003, ING DIRECT will be switching from two-way Open Financial Exchange (OFX) Web Connect to one-way OFX/QFX Web Connect. Why? The answer is security. ING DIRECT is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of your personal and financial information." So, one can no longer automatically download transactions through their service. They point to security as being the rationale for this. I'm not aware of any significant security concerns with OFX.  - Life time planner I am working with money 2004 and I would like to know the answers for these questions related to life time planner, please do the need full, listed below are the quesions. 1) What if I want to add saving/investment accounts to my lifetime planner, but do not want those reflected in the rest of my money file. Specifically, I want to use the Lifetime Planner to estimate financial scenarios that may not have happened yet. For example, what if I want to include an IRA education account for a future child? I want the account in the lifetime planner-so I can estimate my lifetime plan. However, as I do not have children at this time, I do not want the account to show up in my account list. What do I do? 2) what if I want to estimate a "scenario" in the budget planner that has not happened yet? For example, what if I currently am single and live in Phoenix. However, what if I plan to get married, have kids and move to San Francisco soon. How would I use the "budget" planner to reflect my current lifestyle (i.e. single in a cheap City) and, at the same time, create a budget that would reflect my future scenario (married, two kids, living in a more expensive city)? I want to use Money to manage my current life. But, I also want to use Money to plan my future life. I believe I can accomplish this task using the lifetime planner, but am not quite clear on how to do so. 3) Also, what if I do not want to use the scheduled paychecks feature for the Lifetime Planner? Then, what do I do to estimate the proper income myself and my future wife? 4) What if I want to include a Home purchase and a Vacation Home purchase in the Lifetime Planner (as a scenario), but not in my actual money file? In other words, how do I account for asset purchases that have not happened yet but I want to include in my scenario? 5) How do I use money for two people? Currently, I am the only user for money. However, in the future, I want to use Money to manage my future wife and kids. My future wife has her own job, investments, credit cards and bank accounts. So, I want to keep her information separate. Yet, at the same time, I want to be able to run reports that track our total spending and estimate our total net worth. What is the best way to do this? 6) My future wife has outstanding school loans. So, I would want to include in the Lifetime Planner her debt? How should I do that? Can I do it as a "scenario" without actually adding the debt to Money until we get married? 7) How does money define trusts? Does it view a trust as a source of income, but not as an asset to be included in Money? For example, if I have a trust that is invested in mutual funds, how should I account for that asset? Should I label it under trust in the lifetime planner? Or should I label it under saving and investments in the lifetime planner? Also, when you pick a return rate for your investments, does the estimate used in money account for fees and expenses, or only the historical stock market? Or, does money use the Historical stock market return (say about 10%) and then dedect the 3% inflation?  - Mny 2003/2004 Accounts with -#0 in their name I noticed that somehow phantom accounts are created with -#0 at the end of the name. For example, my account Wallet has a phantom account Wallet-#0. The transactions in the Wallet-#0 account are the same as transactions in the Wallet account except that the Wallet-#0 account's last transaction is about 2 or three months earlier than the Wallet account. In other words the -#0 is missing the latest transactions. Also the Wallet-#0 account does not appear to have "transfer" transactions categorized as transfers to another account. But I have not verified this with every transaction. The account types involved run the gamut from cash to investment to credit card. Some have online service, some do not. Some are even accounts that I have never entered a transaction in. I recently upgraded to Money 2004 and the same thing is present in the 2004 file. I tried running the Standard Repair function from the file menu, but all that did was increase the size of my money file from 27 megs to 34 megs. Should I just leave the accounts there, hide them or delete them? I have quite a bit of historical data in this file, and I would like to make sure it is reliable. Tag: Manuals for Money Tag: 150459
