    - Account Setup Temporarily Unavailable OK I decide to wipe the slate clean on my 2005 trial and deleted my problematic account that was not showing current transactions. When I went to set it up it started buy has hit a glitch. The bank name is now appearing in my account list but is asking me to provide sign in information so I click that link and it takes me to the list of banking institutions and highlights mine. I click next and it gives me the error message, "Account Setup is temporarily unavailiable. Please try again later". This is gone on all day. I have another account listed in my list from a different institution that is updating fine. Seems strange. I went to msn. money and Yodlee to see if I could set them up there and both are working. Yodlee has perfect syncing....msn money is not downloading current transactions but current balance. Not sure what to think about all of this. Tag: MONEY 2001 Online Service Problem Tag: 182354

    - Money 2004 PPC Continually Syncs with ActiveSync 3.71 I have a Dell Axim X5 (Mobile Pocket PC 2003) with Money 2004 PPC and ActiveSync 3.71. All of my money accounts syncronize perfectly when I sync up with ActiveSync on my PC. Once Active Sync has completed synchronizing my Pocket PC and PC, Money in Activesync still displays "1 file not synchronized" and continually tries to sync the file. The only way I can stop this from continually happening in Active Sync is to press the Stop button (the 1 file is still not synchronized)! Tag: MONEY 2001 Online Service Problem Tag: 182346

    - Product confusion (cont.) Further question to my earlier post: Is this correct: MoneyCentral changed to MSN Money. Then Money changed from free, to a purchased product. The free version no longer supports downloads from brokers and many of the charting options. To get broker downloads and many charting options, I need to purchase Money 2005. Is that correct?     - Money 2005 Duplicate Downloaded Transactions I finally got my Bank of America account transactions to download through online services. My only gripe is that old transactions which have already been downloaded on a previous day are being re-downloaded along with new transactions every time I perform an update (I do this once a day). When the old transactions are re-downloaded they are matched with existing transactions again and I have to re-accept the transactions. Should this be happening? I thought that Money's logic would prevent old transactions from being downloaded again or at least save me the trouble of having to accept and match them again. Also, shouldn't Money be getting the latest and greatest transactions from my bank(today's transactions preferably but at the very least yesterday's transactions)? It seems that my downloaded transactions only go up to 2 days ago. I know that Yodlee provides the direct services for Bank of America. Is this an issue with Yodlee?     - Money 2005 Deluxe, MSN Money Sync and msmoney.exe process Have had two issues. When I exit Money, apparently it does not shut down the msmoney.exe process because when I go to restart the program, I get a small dialog box saying the program is already running. If I use task manager to kill the process, I can then start it. I do have Money set to back up on exit, and that seems to run fine, if that matters. The second, more troublesome was trying to use Money to sync with MSN Money on line. I ended up with very strange duplications of entries from 2003 on (hav history going back to 1996). I deleted everything on MSN Money, restored a back-up, tried again (twice.) Again, same thing. I have since discontinued trying to use this feature since the 2005 Money for Pocket PC is finally out, but all three be able to work together? Extremely frustrated with Microsofts online support, no help or helpful response.     - Product confusion I am confused. Several years ago I began using MoneyCentral to manage my investment portfolio. Then it changed to Money. I set up everything to download my investments from my brokers and fund managers. I used some of the nice carting features. A few days ago I logged on (after several months of inactivity). I can see my portfolio, but there appears to be no links to my brokers or fund managers, and the chart options are minimal. What happened?     - Money 2005: Fidelity: Capital gains distribution appears as divide Hello, When I receive a capital gains distribution on a mututal fund on my fidelity account Microsoft money shows this in the account register and in the Portfolio as dividend. I do not have this problem with Etrade for example. Also it seems that Dividends from Fidelity sometimes come in later than the reinvestment-purchase and this causes Moeny to "add shares" which after the Dividend is registered leads to a "remove" shares so the total number of shares is equal with the number on the account. However that leads to confusion in the Portfolio manager which then does not show the cost basis correctly any more. What is wrong and how can I corect that? Is the problem perhaps with Fidelity?     - Money 2005 Can Be Updated Externally I don't know if this will add confusion or be of help to some, but FWIW, the recent Money 2005 update (not the 2004 to 2005 upgrade) was downloaded and installed when I visited MoneyCentral.MSN.com, as I regularly do for news, fyi, etc. on specific investments we hold. Apparently, the Web pages now share so much code (e.g. ActiveX Controls) with Money (msmoney.exe) that updating one inherently updates the other. Of course, I still had to go through the file conversion process the next time I opened each of our Money files.     - Bank Account AND Investment Account I have had several investment accounts at etrade for some time and been able to get online updates with no problem. I just added a bank account and am unable to set up the online services to pick up both the investment accounts AND the bank account. I can configure to update the bank account ONLY or the investment accounts ONLY, but NOT BOTH. When you sign up for online services it asks whether you are setting up a bank, credit, or investment account. When you select one, you must be setting a flag because that is it. It will only retrieve the data for that type of account. Then, once the online services are configured, you cannot add a different type of account. Anybody know a workaround? This is a royal pain.     - Money Manual It seems to me that there is a lot of functionality in this program that could be used if one had the knowledge. Is there any book on Microsoft that covers more than just the basics. For example creating custom reports by category and comments, or How to get your mortgage payment to match the amounts of principal and interest the way your bank says it is instead of MSMoney's calculated split.     - Print all accounts contact details and balance summary Is there a way I can extract and print all my accounts balance and account contact details. In Quicken, this was a standard report. I find this useful as I travel a lot and god forbid but if something were to happen to me, my spouse should know about my account balances and who to call to manage accounts.     - Budget report I have income that is retirement income. The category assigned is recognized by the monthly reports and they correctly show this as income. My problem is the budget report. It will not identify and show this category as income despite a lot of trying. How do I get this to pick up on the budget report? The frustrating thing is that it shows in the monthly reports.     - M05 issue Okay, I recently downloaded M05 Deluxe and converted my files from M04 Deluxe. Like other folks here on the board, I'm having problems with Money locking up after the sign on screen. The interesting thing is that this only happens when I'm online. If I remove my wireless card from my laptop I can start up Money and access my account with no problem whatsover, but if I am connected or attempt to connect while Money is open, my CPU usage goes through the roof and Money locks up faster than my high school girlfriend. I've tried to disable the Passport login, but it'll lock up before I can accomplish that feat. I've tried when I'm not online, but it won't let it happen (I guess you have to be online to disable your online password...). I've run all the repair and salvage files and everything is fine. While offline, I've gone in and disabled all the online features that I could find, but it still locks up and is utterly worthless. Definitely not worth the price if you ask me.     - Accepting Downloaded Transactions I am using MM05 (w/Nov update) on XP Pro and I have (finally!) been able to get several of my accounts downloading transactions in a somewhat stable manner (quite an accomplishment!). One annoying problem that I have is with transactions are downloaded for my Credit Union Checking/Savings accts (done via Yodlee). They download correctly and usually match up with my manual entries so I then ACCEPT the matches in my register. The problem is that the next time I update those same transactions that I have accepted ask me to match them all over again. It is like it doesn't remember that I already matched them! After a couple of days it finally stops asking for me to match those and the whole process starts again with a new set of transactions. Is anyone else having this problem? I tried searching around to see if this has already been discussed but I couldn't find it. ...just wanted to get as much info as possible before opening another MS Ticket. Thanks for your help!     - when will it ever stop well, this is a problem which is indicative of the many problems with this program. Today when updating information in MS Money, I was told that it couldn't sync with the MSN site and that I should exit MS Money and then come back in. When I did that, I was told that I had to stop MSN Bill Pay and then I could sync with the MSN site. I stopped MSN Billpay and then was asked if I wanted to use the data on MSN Money or my machine. I opted for my machine, since I had been updating it. I immediately noticed that I then had to go back to Setup Online Services and redo my connection with online update for my credit cards and for my BofA account. I also know that when I do that, MS Money will create new accounts for me, and then I will have a problem with having duplicate accounts where one is linked to online updates and the other isn't. However, I am not even able to get to this point. Instead, when trying to setup online services for my cc's or for my BofA, I get the following error message: "Account setup is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get these accounts reconnected? This is really unacceptable. The program is so full of these problems, that I've now had to re-enter information over a dozen times. I really want get MS Money to a place where I won't have to re-enter all of my data once or twice a week. Do you think that such a thing will be possible? How could Microsoft release a program with so many problems? As an old programmer, I have a lot of patience with computer programs, but this is getting old, fast. -- Cheers, Tom G.     - using money 2005 from two different user accounts Hi, I just upgraded to Money Deluxe 2005. My computer is using the Microsoft XP SP2 operating system. My wife and I have user accounts on the computer customized to our preferences and we would like to be able to use Money from either user login. I installede using My login and configured Money. Then later when using her login to open money it started with the screen as if it were a new install totally seperate from the one I had previously done.     - How much initial price history? I've recently rebuilt my money file to resolve sync problems. When each investment was added, the price updates were limited to 6 months of history data it seems. This prevents the ROI calculations from working properly because I have buys much earlier. For instance, one investment was purchased 7 years earlier with no transactions since. The only history is the price of the buy and the last 6 months.     - Money 2002 Sys Pk: Error 1606 I need some help. When starting Money 2002 I get an error message with a window title of "Microsoft Money 2002 System Pack". The error message is "Error 1606. Could not access network location (a box that indicates an unprintable character):." The error interrupts the Windows Installer. After "X"ing out of the error (twice). Money opens again "Error 1606. Could not access network location (a box that indicates an unprintable character):." Occurs. After "X"ing out of the error (twice) I can do some work in Money but the error pops up when I am moving around. I have done a number of things but have not been able to clear the problem: 1) I tried to un-install Money 2002 and Money 2002 System Pack. Money 2002 un-installed. Money 2002 System Pack would not un-install. The same error message would appear. After "X"ing through them I would get a "Fatal Error" and the un-install program would abort. 2) I removed the Money 2002 and Money 2002 Service Pack from the register. I could still not un-install the Money 2002 Service Pack. 3) I tried to re-install Money 2002 from the CD. The same error message appeared. 4) I rolled back the system to September 5, 2004, the earliest date I could, and it did not correct the problem, However, I am not sure that it was working in September.     - Money 2004 shows more cash in Portfolio and Acocunt Views than in the Cash Account Itself I transferred some money to my brokerage account from checking. Everything was OK initially, but since I downloaded from the broker: the cash balance in the cash account is correct but the cash balance for the same account, as displayed in the "Portfolio" and "Account List" and "What I have" reports, is higher than the balance in the cash account by the amount of the funds I transferred. Anyone know how to fix it? Deleting all the recent transactions and re-entering them did not work, nor did changing the opening balance by a penny and changing it back, nor did -repair.     - Using two Money files Getting ready to upgrade to Money 2005 and have about 6 years of data in Money 2002. I want to start a brand new Money 2005 file starting any day of this month but want to be able to access the old large file. Do I install Money 2005 with the old file in place or do I start the new file after uninstalling Money 2002? How can I access both files? I also plan to synchronize the new M2005 file with Pocket PC.     - Should I Upgrade from 2000 to 2004 so I can use Pocket Money? I currently use MS Money 2000 standard with no problems. I also have an iPaq 1945 that I'd like to use Pocket Money with, but can't since I'm using 2000 on the desktop. I have a paid copy of 2004 standard (came with new PC). Is it worth upgrading (converting the .mny file, having my bank 'upgrade' my profile to use online banking, etc.) to 2004 just so I can use Pocket Money and sync with my iPaq, which has Windows Mobile 2003? Any opinions? Is Pocket Money + desktop Money worth the hassle? Or, is Quicken + Pocket Quicken a better combination? I'd really like to be able to add transactions on the road and have them automatically entered in my desktop financial manager. Thanks in advance.     - money://@surf.mar@ What is "money://@surf.mar@" and why does Money 2005 insist on adding it to my IE Local Intranet Zone during each launch? (Internet control panel -> Security -> Local Intranet -> Sites -> Advanced) if you want to verify -- while money is running. Is this some sneaky method to allow all of their marketing/spyware to pass unharmed through firewalls or security software, by masking as "local intranet" site? Please if anyone can comment... When I try to access Tools>Online Service in Money 2001, I get the following
errors:

"Server name not recognized. OFXIE12007"
"Unable to connect to Online Quotes Server"

It used to work fine just recently. Can you confirm if MS has changed the
Online Service server name to force people to upgrade?
