    - How to handle a tax free exchange I have a socially responsible mutual fund (Parnassus Equity) that has allowed me to exchange my regular shares to those in an institutional fund in a transaction with no tax consequences. The share ratio is 1.0003883956:1.0000000. The symbol is different for the two funds. (Note that I still have the old fund in my IRA account, as I don't have enough shares to qualify for the institutional fund in that account).     - M2004 - Can I sell "lots" in IRA account ? I know taxes aren't an issue in an IRA, but for the first time in a long time I sold some stuff earlier this week in my IRA. AND it was not the entire position. When I enter it into Money, I do not get an option to select the lots ( just so I can see " how I'm doing" in the GAIN column). I right-click - SELL - and no option to choose lots. I don't have FIFO selected and this is the first time in a while that I've sold in my IRA. I checked the past entries but it was always a sale of the whole postion so LOTS didn't matter. In my regular account, "Lots " worked a few months ago. I just opened the register for that sale and I can "reallocate lots", so the function works. But does it work for non-taxable accounts ? I tried Money HELP but no mention either way .     - Wont accept any transactions with a check number I have an unusual problem. When I download my statement, I cannot get Money 2006 Deluxe to accept transactions with a check number. The accept button doesn't do anything. Clicking on change allows you to leave it unmatched. Trying to match it to itself doesn't work. As a workaround, I leave it unmatched, reset the unmatched info to match the correct item and then delete the previous entry.     - money file too big and more... Hi, I've been a loyal Money user since the first version. My money file is now 52mb. Archiving doesn't help (goes down to 41), probably because there are so many investment transactions in there and they don't get archived. I am currently using 2003 and tried to upgrade to 2005, but my balances all ended up incorrect. Any way I can continue with my current file or do I have to start from scratch with a new file? I'd like to stick with Money, but if I have to start all over again anyway, it would be a good time to look at other programs. A few years ago, everything was great, I loved Money, and really loved the portfolio manager. Then this all seems to have fallen apart with synchronization problems with MSN money, etc. Besides wondering what to do, I'm wondering if serious investors are happy with the current version of Money?     - Error during installation Hi, I try to install MS Money on my PC and I get immediately the following error message: "We're sorry, but you do not have power user or administrator privileges on this computer. Please have someone with power user privileges on this computer install money." It makes no sense, because I'm an administrator and it must be a common problem because I get this message with Money 2005, 2006 (trial versions too). I tried to install Money with some other power user but I didn't succeed. And what is interessting I know the reason (from the user side) of this problem. I get this error ONLY when I change the default "Program files" drive letter form "C" to "D" during unattended WinXP (SP2) installation.     - MS Money Trial wont die... Prior to installing my purchased and downloaded MS Money 2006, I uninstalled via Add|Remove, the 90-day trial version on my PC. (WindowsXP|SP2) However, with the new, non-trial Standard version installed, I still get a warning on application launch that the Trial version has expired etc., and the application disappears from the screen. Within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works.... also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it. Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name and address at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive $15,625,00! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is, do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so... People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try?     - Budget With multiple accounts, i.e. two checking, one credit card, why does Money populate the "Actual" values within the Budget with some of the "Categorized" Expenses and not others and seemingly hit and miss from the various accounts?     - Portfolio not updating stock prices properly Some of my stocks in my portfolio do not update prices throughout the day. Some do, but most do not, including HD, T, ... ones that I know have the correct symbol inputted. For instance, at 7PM, when I look at my portfolio, most of the stocks list the days gain as unch, and still list yesterday's closing price (which didn't update until sometime late the night before).     - Broker statement downloading I find that some of the OPTIONS downloaded from the broker statement do appear in the list of transactions but are absent from the Portfolio summary of that period. Apparently Money did not recognise those transactions as OPTIONS and therefore did not record them accordingly. Please advise how to fix this problem so that Money recognises these transactions as securities. Further more please advise if it is possible to edit the properties of any particular security i.e. change the ticker symbol or change from PUTS to CALLS et The dialog "More ivesting tasks - View all investment activities" presents a list of securities to choose from.     - Access away from home Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me if you can access Money from somewhere other than the computer it is downloaded on. For example can I access it from work or a friend's computer? If so, how do you do it and can you still retrieve the same info?     - Unsuccessful statement updates One day about a week ago, my Home Depot and Sears credit card accounts would not update although I have had them working for the last six months. After going through the process of online setup, Money appears to download my acount information then an error message box pops up saying the information could not be updated from your bank or brokerage. When I send the error message into Microsoft, the bleow data is presented on a web page but without any guidance. Anyone have the same problem?     - Portfolio - updating funds I am suddenly experiencing problems with MSN Money updating certain fund prices properly. I think (but am not sure) that the problem is that it is putting the decimal point in the wrong place (for example, Â£9,560.95 is being shown as Â£95.60 because the price is wrong by two decimal places). Hi guys- I have an investment account with MB Trading and it used to be that I could update by account automatically through Penson Financial Services (online.penson.com). MB Trading just recently updated their site so I no longer need to (or can) log in directly on penson's site and now my info won't download either.     - Bug !! in Money 2004, Standard - 'Chase' NOT listed I am using Microsoft Money 2004, Standard. When I go to 'Accounts & Bills' -> Online Service Manager -> Change Financial Institution, For my 'Chase' credit card account, I cannot find 'Chase' in 'Select Your Financial Institution' to select from the list. (in the list Chevy Chase Federal Service Bank, in NOT 'Chase'). I talked to 'Chase Online Tech Support' and they informed it is Bug in Microsoft Money.     - Archive Question Hi, archived my transactions in Money 2004, I had tried to restore them using the method in the help file, but had so many duplicates I gave up. I have since up graded to 2006. I was wondering if its possible to restore these archived transactions into 2006 or if I'll have to reinstall 2004 and do it there? Also would like to know if you can restore the archive all at once or if you have to do it account by account. And lastly is there something I can do so I don't get all the duplicates?     - Account Type Hi, I had an insuranc epolicy in India before coming to Canada. There the premiums are invested in various funds. Every day the unit rate of the fund fluctuate. Now which type of fund this would fall so that I can track my funds in India. Similarly I opened another Universal Life Account, premiums paid on monthly bases. Here also the same the money is invested in various funds. Now to track those type of funds which type of Account should be opened just Investment Account , as there are mortality charges (insurance charges) to be deducted on monthly basis in terms of units, unit value changes every time.     - 401K Mutual Fund Manual Price Updates I have a 401K that tracks NAV of the funds differently than the prices auto-downloaded by Money for the same symbol (don't ask me why???). I have turned off Auto-Update of those funds so I can manually update the fund prices myself. The problem is that no matter how many times I try to delete previous on-line price updates, they remain with the Fund. This is kind of minor, but also kind of annoying. I've learned when I add a new fund to this account to disable price updates before my next update and this works for new fund additions, but the old funds are still maintaining those on-line price updates. What's weird is a lot of the prices are from dates before I even initially purchased the funds in the account. I have run the Clear Historical prices and everything else I could find.     - Deleting Investment accounts from Fidelity I was able to download my 401K and IRA from Fidelity to Money but the info was not correct. Fidelity told me to try and start over so I tried to delete the the accounts by going to "change account detail"--"delete account" and it seemed like it was gone. When I went to "Add a new account" and went through the process it not only created "IRA" but also created "IRA #2". I thought I could merge the two accounts but that didn't work either.     - Bank One merger to Chase I have online billpay through my bank, formerly Bank One, now JP Morgan Chase and loved that I could schedule the payments in MS Money and upload to my bank. Since the finalization of the bank merger around the end of March Money has not been able to connect to my account and in fact when trying to resolve it ended up canceling the feature (online banking) within Money for my Chase accounts. In trying to fix the problem I went so far as to add a new 'dummy' JP Morgan Chase Checking account in Money. When trying to connect to the bank's website during this online setup I get this message "Verify that your user name and password are correct, then try again". It is correct, so I am back to scheduling payments online with my bank and downloading. Since this all started I get this message each time I open Money "There may have been problems processing your online transactions. Click Update Now before sending transactions again or you may cause duplicate transactions. Contact your financial institution to confirm your online transactions have been processed." I'm not asking about file downloads - I want msmoney to connect directly to my newly opened citibank accounts and download account transactions whenever I select the on-line updates option.     - Mobil Gas Card I am having a problem where Money 2006 Deluxe is no longer automatically uploading my Mobil Gas Card transactions. It keeps telling me "update unsuccessful". The comments were telling me to try to re-do my online setup. I went to my online setup settings for this card and it is asking for my account number and password. Mobil recently changed their online access through their website where you no longer use your account number and a password to access your account, but use a login that you choose and a password. I have tried using the account number and my password to set up my online access through money, as well as having tried my login and password like I do on the website and Money will not set up for automatic online transaction retrieval as it used to do.     - Money 98 to 2004 problems I had Money 98 which I would use to put on my new computer to regain access to my files. However, I have the lost the disc to do this. I suspect this is because you haven't downloaded the M2005 patch. Check your
version in Help > About. It should end in 1105. If it doesn't you need to
open the sample.mny file or create a new file and do an online update to
download the patch.
