Home Loan with Extra Principal
I currently have my Morgage withdrawn directly from my
checking account. I want to post it into the register
automatically but not have it double post when I download
my transactions from my checking account.
Also, when I setup my loan through Money automated system
it determines my loan payment of (not real numbers)
$1050.00 with P+I+Taxes+Insurance.
I currently have $1100.00 withdrawn from my account with
the extra $50.00 going towards principal. How can I
reflect this extra $50.00 towards princial in Money.
Currently when I go to Account List and Home Loan is only
shows $1050.00, but if I go to add the $50.00 towards
principal there is no category to reflect that it went
towards principal.

You'd think this was simple
I want to set up a liability account to pay back someone for a car
loan. I want to set it up monthly recurring to be trasnferred from my
checking account to the liability account, thereby both sending the
electronic check to the payee and recording it in the liability
account. M04 is not letting me do that for some reason. Anyone help

Credit cards
Is it possible to get Money to take into account the credit card interest rate?
For example, at the moment I have entered the current repayment and of course
if I look at a 1 year projection it shows the repayments going in but no
projection of interest payments. This makes it look like I'll be in credit in
no time - I wish!!
I guess this applies to any loan account and is pretty basic so I'm sure
someone will have an answer to this.
Thanks in advance,

Downloading Problem in Money 2003
I am having problem downloading my Visa statement in Money. I have a
Canadian $ Visa as well as a US $ Visa...I used to be able to download any
transactions from my bank but it no longer works. The message I get is as
follows:
Your statement contained a default currency (CAD) which was unrelated to the
currency of the account "US$ Visa". Money does not support statements
containing default currencies.
How do I get this cleared up. I do not use my US Visa that often and don't
care if it doesn't update...the Canadian account is the one I would like to
fix.

MNY04: transfers, dont understand..
i have credit cards and other accounts i wanted to track and pay down. so i
set up a credit card account with its balance. then i setup a transfer from
my checking account (MSN billpay) to issue a check and paydown the credit
card account. that worked fine when i executed the transaction, but what i
noticed was that no expense category can me associated with this transfer.
how can my income/expense reports be correct if i cant show that money went
to a credit card category? now if i set it up, instead, as a new bill then
i can associate an expense category; but i cant associate it with paying
down the credit account. What am i doing wrong or is there something i
really don't understand here.

I would like to be able to make a "partial" payment to a

Getting up to date with my retirement fund
A few years ago I tried to setup my retirement account (which is in a
403(b)) in MS Money. Well, things have changed, I've added new funds and
removed ones that were performing badly, but I never entered those changes
in MS Money. I also have it setup so that when I get paid Money tracks my
gross pay, and distributes the funds into categories like federal income
tax, state income tax, my 403(b) plan, etc. So, Money has been sitting
there accumulating inaccurate data for my 403(b).
I would still like to track my retirement in Money, but now it is hopelessly
out of date. How should I best correct this problem?

PARENTS OF 15-YEAR-OLD FIND $71,000 HIDDEN IN
HIS CLOSET!
Does this headline look familiar? Of course it
does. You most likely have just seen this story
recently featured on a major nightly news
program (USA) 20/20 & Oprah. His mother was
cleaning and putting laundry away when she
came across a large brown paper bag that was
suspiciously buried beneath some clothes and a
skateboard in the back of the 15-year-old son's
closet. Nothing could have prepared her for the
shock she got when she opened the bag and found
it was full of cash. Five-dollar bills,
twenties, fifties and hundreds, all neatly
rubber-banded and labeled piles.
"My first thought was that he had robbed a
bank," says the 41-year-old woman. "There was
over $71,000 in that bag - that's more than my
husband earns in a year."
The woman immediately called her husband at the
car dealership where he worked to tell him what
she had discovered. He came home right away and
they drove together to the boy's school and
picked him up. Little did they suspect that
where the money came from was more shocking than
actually finding it in the closet.
As it turns out, the boy had been sending out,
via e-mail, a type of "report" to e-mail
addresses that he obtained off the Internet.
Every day after school for the past 2 months, he
had been doing this right on his computer in his
bedroom.
"I just got the e-mail one day and I figured
what the heck, I put my name on it like the
instructions said and I started sending it out,"
says the clever 15-year-old.
The e-mail letter listed 5 addresses and
contained instructions to send one $5 bill to
each person on the list, then delete the address
at the top and move the other addresses down,
and finally to add your name to the top of the
list.
The letter goes on to state that you would
receive several thousand dollars in five-dollar
bills within 2 weeks if you sent out the letter
with your name at the top of the 5-addressee
list. "I get junk e-mail all the time- and
really did not think it was going to work." the
boy continues.
Within the first few days of sending out the
e-mail- the post office box that his parents
had gotten him for his video-game magazine
subscriptions began to fill up with not
magazines, but envelopes containing $5 bills.
"About a week later I rode my bike down to the
post office and my box had one magazine and
about 300 envelopes stuffed in it. There was
also a yellow slip that said I had to go up to
the post office counter. So thought I was in
trouble or something (laughs)." He goes on- "I
went up to the counter and they had a whole box
of more mail for me. I had to ride back home and
empty out my backpack because I could not carry
it all.
" Over the next few weeks, the boy continued
sending out the e-mail. "The money just kept
coming in and I just kept sorting it and
stashing it in the closet, I barely had
time for my homework." He had also been riding
his bike to several of the banks in his area
and exchanging the $5 bills for twenties,
fifties, and hundreds.
"I didn't want the banks to get suspicious, so
I kept riding to different banks with like five
thousand at a time in my backpack. I would
usually tell the lady at the bank counter that
my dad had sent me in to exchange the money and
he was outside waiting for me. One time the lady
gave me a really strange look and told me that
she would not be able to do it for me and my dad
would have to come in and do it, but I just rode
to the next bank down the street (laughs)."
Surprisingly, the boy did not have any reason to
be afraid. The reporting news team examined and
investigated the so-called "chain letter" the
boy was sending out and found that it was not a
chain letter at all. In fact, it was completely
legal according to US Postal and Lottery Laws,
Title 18, Sections 1302 and 1341, or Title 18,
Section 3005 in the US code, also in the code
of federal regulations. Volume 16, Sections 255
and 436, which state a product or service must
be exchanged for money received.

Question about transaction dates.
Hello, i dont know if this happen just here in Mexico; our credit cards use
a cut date and a limit date (to pay); so altough we have the original
transaction date, we don't pay that date (we pay some days later based in
the cut and the limit date)
I can not see in money in the credit accounts, any parameter about cut and
limt date.
I know that i can set the correct date, but is better to have the original
transaction dates.
Also here is very comun to buy any article and to pay it in 6 or 12 months
without interest; in this case i use the recurring option, and i can delay
the transactions, but in this case the credit limit is not reduced (altough
we pay in 12 months, aur credit limit is reduced as we bought the article
with just one pay), i don't know if this options can be configured in money.
Thanks in advance and greetings.

accounts for a checking account and two credit cards and
wondering what is the best way to input payments to the

any difference - here are my options and they both seem
to do the same thing:
1) enter transaction via the Transfer (tab) with
From: CHecking account and
to: credit card account - this results in a transfer from
the checking account in the credit card account
or 2) Withdrawl (tab)
From: Checking
to: Transfer to Credit Card (category that is
automatically included) - this results in a credit in the
credit card acocount

M03 Deluxe - Credit Report scope & life?
I'd like to ask if anyone can explain the scope and extent of the free

Recurring Payments and Scheduled Bills
I have a scheduled weekly deposit for my paycheck that I
set up in Money, however the amount varies from week to
week so I put an estimate. My bank allows transactions
to be downloaded so I let it check for those each time I
start up Money. It will find the amount deposited into
my account from my paycheck, and put it in the register,
but I was wondering if there is a way for it to also
record the deposit under the bills and deposits where I
have it scheduled. It must not see it as the same
deposit.
I also have a couple payments scheduled in there, and I
have them set up as auto payments through my bank. I am
wondering if when they get paid, and Money downloads that
transaction via the bank, will it automatically enter
that payment in the scheduled bills and deposits window
also? Thank you. Tag: MONEY 2004 WEB ACCOUNT ACCESS Tag: 153512

Revolving credit mortgage
I've just got a new mortgage that is split between a

I have no problems with the table loan. I tried to set up
the revolving credit portion as a transaction acount plus
overdraft - with an overdraft limit and starting ballance
equal to the the size of the loan.
This works fine apart from the fact it doesn't incur

overdrawn.
Any ideas on a nicer solution would be appreciated.

Unable to balance accounts
In talking to one of your tech reps yesterday, he
suggested I take this route to get some additional help.
I haveen using Mone Deluxe for "03 & '04. I purchase '04
because one of the feature mentioned was easier balancing
of accounts. I have not found that to be the case> Since
I also use Quicken I can compare the two functions very
easily. I never have a problem balencing an account in
Quicken. On the other hand I can never get money to
properly balance without making some kind of adjusment,
which then screws up the account. My next step is to
delete this "balance adjustment" to get the proper
numbers. Here's a specific. I just opened a new credit
card account. When I set the card account up I was sure
to set the opening balance to "0". When my first
staement came there were 14 items on it. I visually
checked them against mytransaction list which I had
downloaded. The balance at the 14th transaction was
exactly the same as my statement. Incidently these 14
transactions and a few more were all marked "R" which I
accepted when downloaded. When i went to "balance this
credit card" it told me I had tried to balance it before,
displayed the box to fill in the data(which was already
correct) and the gave me the "auto"balance or"let money
correct the balance, which I rejected, because ny data is
correct. If I can bat 1000% with Quicken & 0% with
money , it suggests that the problem is with money and
not my fingers. I would certainly appreciate some help
with this issue. In scrolling through some of the other
entries ,I see this has been an issue raised by others.

Equity Line Payments in Money 2003
I reviewed some of the posts and even called MS on this, and there
does not seem to be a way to split/categorize payments made to an
equity line account.
How the software defaults this payment is that it is assigned a
category of "Transfer: Checking Account." Obviously, if this is
changed, then the corresponding entry in the checking account would be
effected, making that account out of balance.
At least one way you can keep the balances correct is to enter your
interest/finance charge on the equity line account every month by
posting a "Charge."

Microsoft Money 2003
When trying to record transations both manually and with
Money Transaction Past Due Report, I get the
message "This transaction cannot be entered" everytime I
try. There is no reason given for this message. The
program seems to be locked and will not accept further
transactions. The program "as is" is usless to me. I
also had a problem with backup files, finally I found one
that worked and updated the data, however, I am wondering
if this backup is in fact the problem. I do not want to
start from scratch. I have data back to Jan 1, 2001.
How do I get the program to accept additional entries?
Your help will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Neil Tag: MONEY 2004 WEB ACCOUNT ACCESS Tag: 153461

Scheduled Bills/Deposits being deleted by MSN Money!
Money 2k4 Deluxe and Money Central, win xp pro sp-1 tho I doubt this
matter.. I have about 2 dozen scheduled bills or deposits set up. When I
sync my account with MSN Money, I lose a number of these, they simply aren't
listed anymore, although about 10 or so remain. For the life of me, I can't
figure out WHY this is happening. For the moment, I'm simply not syncing
with MSN money, but that's a less than optimal solution, as it means I have
to manually download electronic statements for half a dozen bank accounts. I
have before and after screenshots of the bills page, if seeing them would
help. Tag: MONEY 2004 WEB ACCOUNT ACCESS Tag: 153457

Credit card: Special transfer
I recently took advantage of a special transfer offer
from my credit card company. What happens now is that
my "normal" balance is "stuck" until I pay off the
special transfer. The interest rate for the normal
balance is 8.9%. The rate for the transfer is 2.9%. How
do I explain this scenario to Money so that it can
correctly calculate how much interest I'm being charged? Tag: MONEY 2004 WEB ACCOUNT ACCESS Tag: 153455

Error Starting Balance
Several months ago I started getting an error message
telling me that the starting balance calculated by money
differed from the one entered.
I have spent many, many hours on the phone with tech
service and still cannot get my account to balance. When I
use the transactions in my money the account balances with
a pencil and paper. In other words the ending balance is
correct and the transactions are all matched.
How can I get Money to balance my account.
I have been a Money user for at least 8 years and haven't
had this problem before. Thanks for you help. Ned Tag: MONEY 2004 WEB ACCOUNT ACCESS Tag: 153448
sharing bills
I have all utility bills in my name, but 3 roommates
share these expenses. Does anyone know how I can set it
up so that the checks I receive from them can be
subtracted from my "utility bills" category? I can't
figure out any way to do this!

bill set up
I have two checking accounts, A and B that are both set up
for bill pay. I only use account A to pay all bills,
Apays and electronic payments.
Is there a way to have all the apays and electronic bill
pays that are now set up in account A be set up in account
B without having to redo all the info again?
Thanks
P.S. I have Microsoft Money 2001 delux and business version 9.0 Tag: MONEY 2004 WEB ACCOUNT ACCESS Tag: 153446
