 - Accessing Qdata on home network I am trying to access Qdata.mny from a laptop (win98) on my home network, but that generates an error message saying the file is read-only or there is a problem with security privileges. The file was created on a desktop running XP (sp2, all recent updates). I have enabled sharing for the Money 2002 folder and the Qdata.mny file on the desktop and ensured that Qdata.mny is not read-only, but still get the error message.  - Incorrect Message about trial version expiration I purchased and downloaded MS Money 2005 Standard in Feb 05 but didn't install until July 05. Everytime I open Money to use it I get a message that the trial version will expire on Oct 17. I have a receipt showing that I purchased the Standard version not the Trial version. I am using MM05 and it still keeps trying to download transactions even though this account is closed in MM05 and at the bank.  - Unable to Sign in to MSMoney2005 w/Passport Sorry - similar problem to others in this group. Ysing MS Money 2005 Standard. Needed to change all passwords. Went to each vendor/institution website and changed pw. Went to passport.com and changed pw for user ID. Accepted it just fine, have reopened IE, returned to passport.com and was allowed to log in using new pw. I signed into this newsgroup using new pw. However, MS Money would not allow me to use new pw with passport sign in. I restored my backup from yesterday, signed in offline. Went to file/pwmanager and "removed" passport. Closed MSMoney. Reopened Money w/no password. Went back to file/pwmanager. Chose - 'use existing passport'. Entered existing userID and new passport pw. No luck. Error message states-"Your sign in information could not be verified. Please try again later". I have tried off and on x 24 hrs. I can always use Money w/o passport password protection. But I'd rather not. I want it to work the way it's supposed to. PS - I already tried "To register the Msxml3.dll file, click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 Msxml3.dll, and then click OK."  - cannot upgrade from 2004 to 2006 I donwloaded the 2006 version of money to test it before the full upgrade, and it will not open my file from money Satndard 2004.  - Cannot enter multiple categories?? I have just updated to Money 2005 from 2004. When I attempt to enter the second line of a transaction with multiple categories, the program closes. I have tried every way I can think of to enter the second line, but each time I hit the Tab or Enter key, or click the second line, the program immediately closes. Has anyone seen this behavior before? Also, when I went to "Add/Remove" to try and find a "Repair" option, all that was there was the "Uninstall" option which said something like: "If you uninstall this program, you will not be able to open any saved files even if you have a previous version on the program".  - Online vs Desktop I've been playing around with Money 2006, and things don't seem to be synchronized between when I run the app from my desktop and when I go through Moneycentral. I'd expect that if I add an account to MoneyCentral, that it would show up next time I log into Money 2006 on my desktop.... but it doesn't. As it stands, I'm forced to use MoneyCentral because I don't feel like re-entering all my data. Also, everytime I try to add an account through Money 2006, and I try to lookup the financial institution, it tells me "the list is temporarily unavailable" (which incidentally is why I went to MoneyCentral to begin with).  - Can't delete Money investment; investment gets recreated after every download Hi, I'm running into an annoying issue with Money 2006: A while ago I accidentally set up two investments for MSFT: one with an associated stock symbol, and the other obviously with no symbol. I would like to merge these two investments. I tried doing that by remapping all of the 'wrong' investment transactions to the right investment (the one with the stock symbol), and then deleting the wrong investment. However, every time I go to download account updates from Fidelity, I get a prompt saying "you've got xxx stock of Microsoft Corp. (the wrong type)". If I let Money update my positions, I get duplicate transactions. Is there any way I can get Money to stop associating Fidelity downloads to the wrong investment? Thanks, -R.  - Investment Account Summaries are always blank I am a brand new user to Money 2006. After the very first time I set up my Ameritrade brokerage account, it neatly listed my positions in the account summary (after clicking on the account from the account list). Unfortunately, that was the only time my holdings were displayed in the summary. Now the summary is always blank, and I have to click on Investing Tools --> Portfolio Manager to see the positions. I have no idea what's wrong. I even setup a manual (non-linked) investment account and it does the same thing, it wont display my holdings in the account summary.  - Stock splits & graphs When I look at the price history for eBay, I'm seeing a large increase in the graph between 2/23 and 2/25/205, when their stock split occurred. It seems that Money 2006 doesn't understand that this was a split. This discontinuity makes it impossible to compare the eBay graph with others in my portfolio. Is there some way to fix this problem?  - Bills overdue I'm using Money 2006, and have a question that has been unsolved since Money 2003: The Bills & Deposits list is constantly showing me items that are past due, and I believe this is because the downloaded transactions are often showing up with different names. How can I match up the past due items with the actual transactions that they belong to? "Make a one-time payment" isn't what I want, because the bill was already paid (via MSN BillPay). I just want to say "this bill here was paid by this payment there." Similarly, double clicking on the item in the bill summary offers to add an entry to my register.  - Duplicate joint accounts... help? Hi, I hope there is a "fix" for this. My fiance and I each have a personal bank account at the same bank. We also have a joint account together at this bank. My problem is that money, using yodlee, updates our account information. However, we get two joint accounts created in money (one for each of us), instead of one. There is no option to "merge duplicate accounts" either since I money is considering the banks seperate banks during download (which we had to do.. considering we have different passwords and user names to access each of the personal accounts at the bank). Here is the setup: Chevy Chase Bank #1 My personal bank account (has my own password and username) Our Joint Account Chevy Chase Bank #2 Fiance's personal bank account (has his own password and username) Our Joint Account As you can see.. money is therefore creating 4 accounts instead of 2 personal and 1 joint when downloading. I have tried "closing" one of the joint accounts.. but even if an account is closed in money.. it apparently will update during a download. I also tried finding an option to force money not to update/download information for one of the joint accounts... but apparently money can't download one account's information from a bank with out the rest of the accounts (it forces me to kill the personal bank account download as well.. if I want to kill the joint account). Any help would be appreciated. I realize I could simply turn off automatic downloading.. but automatic downloading besides the duplicaton of the joint account... has actually been quite convenient and I would prefer to simply find a solution that would allow me to either stop one of the joint accounts from updating.. or merge it... or something.  - back up problem I can't figure out how to get Money 2002 to back up to the cd/rw drive. We just changed computers dell 5100 to a new dell 9100 and what used to work without any problem is now apparently impossible. I even tried routing it to the dvd/rw drive. I am the administrator on the computer and it keeps telling me to see the administrator that I don't have rights to save to that place (both the cd/rw and dvd/rw). HELP!  - Citibank download not working I am using Money 2003 Deluxe and have been downloading credit card activity from Citibank for months without any problems. Recently, however, the downloads (using Internet Updates-->Update Now) are not pulling in new Citibank activity. All other non-Citi accounts continue to work. I've noticed that the date under the "Last Downloaded" column are way into the future (4/25/2101 and 1/27/2089). Is there a problem specifically with Citicards? If not, how do I change the date back to the last real download date? It appears that I won't be able to download any new activity until the dates listed occur. Of course, I won't care by then. It seems as though all transactions catagorized as "Payment for Invoice" fail to transfer to the PocketPC.  - How to handle transactions that are accrued monthly and paid annually? Does anyone know how to do transactions such as Homeowner's Insurance to pay the premiums in 12 equal payments but is paid when billed by the insurance company once a year? Currently, I am budgeting 1/12 of the estimated premium each month in a line item in expenses. Each month I transfer this amount to a liability account to be paid when I receive a bill from my insurance company. The only problem is that it the Homeowners line item in expenses shows no activity when it should be zero. Does anyone know how to set this up in Money. I will not upgrade because I have not seen any value in the newer versions and do not like the path the product is on. I have come to thinking that an alternative should exist. While there are some programs out there (moneydance,etc...) I really dont like the interface(UI's) and most are not as capable with the basics as money is. I happen to be a software developer and have been giving some thought to developing my own finance manager application. Can people help me identify what might be the major hurdles that I would have to overcome? I know online (OFX) will need to be inplemented but what else without regard to the basics would be cause for concern. Again, this is just a thought but I have grown tired of the money packages. When my HP iPaq hx4700 is not connected to the pc, I can choose which accounts and transactions I would like to sync in ActiveSync 3.8 via a Money icon which appears under Information Type.
