In Yr 2003, I invested 5K in a a local business. The money was already taxed
when I received it. I am now starting to get a return on my investment -
essentially, payments back on the original 5K. I'm not really making any
money at this point (until I break even). How do I track this now? How do I
track it when I am making money? FYI:I have the Standard Edition, but am
looking to upgrade to Deluxe. Thanks for your help :-)

Did you get stock? Is it a partnership? Did you loan a business
money?

If it is a loan, you are probably getting interest, which you will
need to report as interest.

You need to understand the how the investment is structured before
you can figure out how you might track it in Money.

The money invested was part of a disability settlement (non-taxable income).
I have a capital contribution agreement with a small business, contributing
5K to the company. I am now starting to receive a return on my contribution.
I'm not sure how to track this, or if the income is taxable since I
essentially won't be making any money until I get back the 5K I originally
invested. Hope this is making sense. Accounting/investing is not my forte'...
