    - M03 Tax rates for 2004 Can someone take a look at their version of M03 and see if the tax rates showing for '2004 Tax Year in Progress' are correct. Mine don't appear to be right, ... for example it is showing a Long Term Cap Gains tax rate of 20%, a standard deduction of 4,700, ... lower income brackets and with higher taxes for 2004 vs. 2003.     - Archive problems with Money 2002 I have searched through this forum for topics related to archiving and I did not see one with my particular issue. the general gist of the posts that I have seen, however, is to avoid archiving. That said, I'm hoping that someone has a better answer. I will try to be brief: When I tried to archive my transactions today, I noted immediately that my bank account balance went to negative $ 15k. Several of my credit card accounts were also badly messed up. Upon further research, it seems that any transaction associated to the cash portion of my brokerage account was not being archived. All other transactions were archived. I didn't try to sort through the hundreds (thousands?) of transactions to come up with a trial balance, but this seems to be the root cause. 1. I am sure that I selected all accounts to be archived during the archive process. 2. I am sure that none of my investment accounts appeared in that list. 3. My Money file is up to about 20 MB and I really would like to get rid of some of the older transactions (date less than 1/1/2003). Is there something that I can do?     - Unable to download into Money Delux 2004 I had my Money 2004 working properly, so that downloads in Money OFX format from my bank would automatically trigger the function in Money that prompted me to import the file. However, for some reason, this has now stopped working. When I am in my bank's website, and click on the download to Money option, it flashes what appears to be the download window, and then completes, but a) never gives me the file save/open option and b) Money sits quietly running in the background and does not recognize a file waiting for its attention.     - A little budget understanding, please I am a new Money 2004 user after using Quicken for 10 years. I have noticed the monthly bills I have assigned dollar amounts to show up in the Budget planner. Underneath these routine bills, another budget entry is there entitled "other expenses for . . . ." If I leave the "other expenses for {whatever monthly bill I have setup} blank, it shows up during the review of the budget with no amount budgeted for that catergory. Even though I have a dollar amount setup for the monthly bill. However, if I enter the same dollar amount as the monthly bill, it than shows a subtotal double the amount I am really having to pay. And it effects my bottom line as far as realistic total expenses. Also is there a way to delete more than one Payee at a time? With the hundreds I have, I wanted to wipe most of them out. Thank You!     - Converting Money 2000 file for Money 2003 When I try to import my Money 2000 file into Money 2003 I get an error stating that it cannot open the file, possibly because it is a read-only file or you do not have permission to change it.     - ms Money 2002 I have to do reports for our CPA, and he doesn't want to see irrelevant transactions. I put them in a catagory that I would like to see all these transactions in ONE catagory. In other words......the s-distributions just listed all together, with a total. It keeps separating them, and he doesn't need to know how much I spent at the grocery store, or how much I spent on my utilities. He only wants to see a TOTAL for that catagory.     - Canadians: Avoid MS Money 2004!! It's crap! I just wasted $50 on MS Money 2004 Canadian version. It has absolutely no support for RRSPs, yet it claims to be customized for Canadians. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! I have attempted to get a refund from Future Shop but they won't take it back because the CD has been opened. This is selling merchandise under false pretenses. If a financial application is supposed to be "Canadianized" and yet does not support or recognize a basic RRSP, it's sub-standard. A few years ago I had Quicken's Canadian version and had no problem with it. I'm going back to it. I'm totally disgusted with MS's so-called Canadian version.     - Best Buy credit card & Debt Reduction Planner How do I get my Household Bank / Best Buy credit card information added to my debt reduction planner? If I made a major purchase on their zero interest financing for 18 months plan, and they only want a very low minimum payment each month until then, then I need to somehow indicate that the remainding balance no matter how high it is, absolutely must be paid by the 18th month. Otherwise, they will go and add on a lot of interest for all of the previous 18 months. When I indicate to Microsoft Money that an intro rate is in effect of 0.0% until May of 2005, then the only option it gives me for what shall happen at the end of this is a new fixed interest rate for from there on out. Is there no way to indicate that on that date if a balance remains then it will back-date the interest for 18 months worth? I tried just feeding it some false data to trick it into thinking that it would be more important to pay that card off by the 18th month than some of the other ones. For example, I tried telling MS Money that the fixed rate after the 18th month is 100%. Even at 100% interest Microsoft Money is suggesting that I let the balance slide for a couple of months beyond the 18th month before it wants me to pay it off completely. -Jeff Tag: Mny 2001 FI List Tag: 157536

    - setting up an escrow account in the mortgage setup My mortgage, as do most, has an escrow payment each month that is included in the payment of principal and interest. I have always following bookkeeping procedure and set this up as an account (not expense category). The money is paid into the account and when taxes, insurance etc is due it is disbursed. In setting up my Home Mortgage I can find no way to do this in Money. The only thing it provides for is setting up a Category and this is not the proper way to handle it. There is no other choice since the drop down list to assign this portion of the payment is only the Categories with no Accounts to chose from. Any help much appreciated. I tried to submit this question by Email to Microsoft Help but could find no address for it anywhere. Does anyone have it? My understanding is that I am entitled to this with the DeLuxe edition.     - downloaded transactions dates are changing back to 2003 Here is an example: I made a payment to my credit card account on 01/02/04. The payment posted and Money *correctly* downloaded the transaction, with the proper date, and matched it to the existing transaction in the register. All is good so far. Today, I go to update from online statements and it downloads the same transaction again, but with a 01/02/03 date?!?!? And this isn't the first time this has happened.     - Can't Update Fidelity Online Services and Accounts I just upgraded Money 99 with Money 2004 Deluxe, in part because it stopped updating my Fidelity accounts some months ago. I was told then MS no longer supported Money 99 and I should upgrade. Anyway, with the new Money 2004 install, Online Services Manager indicates Fidelity Investments needs to be updated. After going through the motions of updating, the system indicates update for OFX02051 was successful and directs me to read a message from OFX02051 it. That message starts with one of those nerve jarring Windows "you made a mistake" sounds and says "C:\microsoft money\system\bds\USAFidelity Distributors Corporation\Info.htm" cannot be opened. Online Services Manager still shows Fidelity needs to be updates. Attempts to update my Fidelity accounts fail even though accounts with another brokerage are updated.     - Account discrepancy One of my credit card accounts in Money 2004 has developed a multiple personality disorder. The balance displayed on the account register is $20.31. However, the Debt Reduction Planner shows that the account has an $821 balance; i.e., an $800 discrepancy, with rounding. I just received the most recent statement for the account. When I go to the Balance Account wizard, the 'total amount owed last month' (i.e., the opening balance) is $800 higher than it should be--and $800 higher than the 'total amount owed this month' (i.e., the closing balance). Although I can enter an $800 adjustment, this shouldn't be needed; the account's opening balance (from Spring 2003) is zero and there aren't that many transactions. I balanced fine with the last statement. And as of the closing date of the last statement, the balance is fine. It's a complete mystery. What would cause this?     - Unable to re-install Money Deluxe 2004 I recently had to reformat my hard drive. My version of Money 2004 was a downloaded trial which I later purchased. After re-installing MM2004 I could not access the program because it "appeared" that the trial period had expired. I checked the email that was sent after the purchase and it only provided an Activation Code. I called Microsoft who after an hour admitted defeat and nformed me that the would send me a "real" installable version CD with a product key.     - Strange Happenings I just upgraded to windows xp and reinstalled Money 2000. Now, whenever I open money, I get a message under header msmoney.exe : "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk in drive e". (e is my dvd/cd drive). I simply click on cancel and the program continues on. The warning, and my having to clear it, occurs for every page change in money.     - 401k deposits I have three mutual funds that comprise my retirement portfolio. Each fund gets an automatic deposit every two weeks. I can't figure out how to set my funds up for recurring deposits.     - transferring money 99 files to money 2001 Hello, I just bought a new computer with XP and Money 2001. Currently, all of my financial information is in my Money 99 files on my old computer. I saved my money 99 files to a cd and tried to open them in my new money 2001, and I received this message: "Money cannot locate 'E:Msmoney' or cannot open it possibly because it is a read-only file or your disk drive is write protected. If you have chosen the correct file and it cannot be accessed, you will need to open your most recent backup file." What does this mean? All that I want to do is transfer all of my financial information from my old computer with Money 99 to my new computer with XP and Money 2001. How do I do this?     - Bug with Money 2004 and Balance Pop-up I have had a problem a couple of times when I try to balance an account. I enter the Ending Balance and Interest and the next button will not work. I cancel try again, same thing. It is a hit and miss thing. Sometimes closing money will work or a reboot will work. Has this been reported or is there a work-around? I upgraded from 2002 and it seems like there is a lot of little bugs like this every where. The Refresh after printing checks it a little heavy on the resource and flickers quite a bit. MS Money seems to be unable to update the financial
institution list.... I have an account with Harrisdirect
which does appear on Microsoft's list of banks on its web
site. However, it does not appear within my list of
available institutions. Only conclusion I can draw is
that Microsoft is not allowing the list to be updated in
this older version.

Any ideas???

Money 2004 lists Harrisdirect, as I think you suspected.
