Principal and Interest Calculation
I setup a loan in Money 2004 and, based on the principal and interest
calculations shown in the amortization schedule, it appears that Money is
using the actual number of days between due dates to determine the portions
of the payment that are principal and interest, which of course varies
depending on the number of days in the month. However, my bank calculates
the principal/interest split based on a standard 30-day month (360 day
year). Is there a way to have Money use this type of amortization schedule

can't convert previous version of money file?
I was running Money 2000 for a years and, now I'd like to
run Money 2003 with my old data(file), but I can't. Reason
for that is when I open Money 20003 and try to upgrade or
convert a file, Money is giving me an error;
"File was created in incompatible version,can't open money
file".I don't wan't to start all over again.with entering
my data.

Money expense scheduling problem
I'm using money 2003 standard at home, and I am unable to schedule a
reocurring bill every three weeks. They have a multitude of choices
available, but not one for that, nor any "custom" schedule.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might be able to schedule this?
Would I be able to do this in 2004?
In case anyone is wondering, we get groceries every three weeks and that's
why I need the three weeks option - am I the only person that has ever had a
reocurring bill for three weeks? I must be special...

Need to convert 2002 back t0 while laptop is fixed
My laptop with Money 2002 died and had to be sent in for
service which will probably be about a month. The good
news is that I backup up all my data files the day before
and burned them to CD. My office machine is running
Windows 98 SE and Money 2001 but it will not read the
2002 files. I can't install XP because the machine will
not support it.
I used a friend's machine and can open my backup file but
I don't want to leave my financial data there. Is there
some way I can transfer the data to Excel or save it in a
backwardly compatible format? I tried to synchronise to
the Web but even after downloading the upgrade it doesn't
seem to work. I basically just need my checkbook
registers. I couldn't find a way to print just the
registers?
Can anyone think of a good workaround until I get my
laptop back?

Wells Fargo bank download
Forgive me for being upset, but this is CRAP !! In M2002 and M2003 there was
a problem with listing separate checks and when the transaction downloaded
and I checked off the parts of that deposit it seemed fine. But then every
day after that the gross amount would re-download until I made adjustments
that literally screwed my accounting to make it stop. I posted here 4 times,
sent 2 support requests to MS and 2 to Wells Fargo. Typically the big guys
blamed each other. Now in M2004 it's the same problem! Don't you think in 3

Payees
When I download my statement the payees all appear as POS
purchases, EFT withdrawals, etc and not the actual
payees,they are only appearing in the memo section.
When I do the reports to find out where my money is going
it will not find it unless I manually change all the
payees to the proper names. (Quicken would use the
proper names in the payee section)
Is there something I don't have set up properly or is
this just the way the program works.

Hi,
I posted this same question Sept 13 and I cannot open the
messages anymore, even the new ones that I have not
looked at so sorry but I need to repost my question.
I bought the Cdn version of MM 2004 so that I can
directly download into Money 2004 but there seems that
there are no Canadian banks that have allowable download
capabilitities (even though my credit union has a
download to microsoft money capability) it will not let
me do that. The only way that I have been able to
download is to save it to a disk and open it as an .ofc
file. I was able to do this with my old MM program so I
don't know why they are calling it a CDN version when
the only bank it seems to support is Presidents Choice
Financial and that may not even be the CDN version of the
banking system.

Money 2002 Cash Flow Forecast
Hello. I've been using Money 2002 for about a year and
last week I encountered a problem with the cash flow
forecast. When I go to various account registers, I can
see my forecast down at the bottom of the window.
However, I can't get to the cash flow page. Also, my
primary checking account register shows the cash flow
chart, but says I have $0 now and that there will be no
other upcoming activity. When I try to access the cash
flow page in any way, whether by clicking on the little
chart in my registers or using the button in my toolbar,
nothing happens. I'm guessing the problem is related to
the primary checking account.
I tried restarting my computer several times, and also
tried to run the Money repair command, but nothing has
helped. Has anyone else run into this problem?

The "Skip This Occurrence" Button
Hello everyone. Just asking for a little help.
During the month of September, I entered a monthly
deposit into the "scheduled bills and deposit" section of
Microsoft Money 2003 scheduled for October 1, 2003. But,
then, I decided to exclude that deposit for the month of
October and include it in November. So, I used the "Skip
This Occurrence" button.
Much to my surprise, the deposit I excluded for October
still showed up on the income section of the "review your
current budget status" menu for the month of October. In
addition, I noticed that if I kept adding a deposit
scheduled for October 1st and then skipping that
occurrence, the income section would continue to increase
in the "review your current budget status" menu for the
month of October rather than go to zero. I think that
this is a bug.
Or, if someone could enlighten me as to why the amount
continues to be reported in the budget even though I have
skipped its occurrence for the month, I would appreciate
it. Thanks.

Recurring Payment Error
I have several recurring payments with split categories.
When I go to edit it show paycheck splits. This has
happened several times recently and I have to delete it
and re-enter. Sometimes it comes back up as a paycheck.

Selling a home in Money
I recently sold my house and paid off the associated
mortgage. I have been trying to properly record the
transaction in Money (2004 version) but cannot find any
easy (or even close to easy) way to accomplish this
task. I want to record:
The sale of the house
The Payoff of the mortgage
The costs associated with the sale (commission, etc.)
The deposit of the proceeds to a savings account.
Please let me know the best way to record this
transaction. There really should be a wizard or a help
topic associated with this (I looked both in help and on
the Money support site).

Passport not working with Money
Could someone help me with a very strange problem. I can
sign in to Hotmail, ebay, and a number of other Passport
enabled sights but receive an error of -
"The sign-in attempt for hhoffmeister@hotmail.com was
unsuccessful. Please try your sign-in name and password
again"
when logging into Money.
I have disabled the password and re-enabled it to see if
that would change anything, which was unsuccessful. I
have also tried changing my password which also did not
work.

Money 2004 MSN Bill Pay
I have been using Money 2003 which came with a year of
free bill pay for the last 11 months. Yesterday I
purchased Money 2004 which also comes with a year of free
bill pay. The question I have is when I install Money
2004, will it automatically give me another year of free
bill pay or do I need to cancel my current MSN bill pay
subscription first and then install Money 2004 and

Money 2004 Historical Price Info
If this is the wrong venue for this question, please
excuse me.
I have been evaluating Money 2004 Premium and it states
access to 16,000+ stocks and historic data and 551
analytical tools.
I have not been able to locate any information on the
tools available.
I have found that history is available for a 5-year period
and you have to enter each symbol separately. Then to
identify the 52-week high or low price you have to use the
mouse to point to the high and low point on the history
line.
Three Questions-
1. Is there a way to select multiple stocks at one time,
or, select all stocks from a particular exchange and have
the historic price information downloaded as values.
2. Will any of the 551 tools identify those stocks that
are at 52-week lows?
2. Is stock volume a metric that is available?

Portfolio price update problem for UK OEICs
I use Money Financial Suite 2001 and regularly obtain online price updates
for my various UK stocks, unit trusts and OEICs. My OEICs include four
Gartmore OEICs for which I have obtained price updates for the last couple
of years but, for the last month I have been unable to get updates for three
of these OEICs, being advised that they are unavailable. We have checked
with Gartmore who advise that there have been no changes to the names or
symbols of these OEICs. I have emailed Morningstar whom I know have and may
still provide Money's price updates, but they are not responding.
The OEICs are:

Mny 2000 I think I'm sc****d
After reformatting & reinstalling, Money 2000 won't
restore my backups (see previous posts). I ran an error
check on the floppy--it has multiple errors. Some were
automatically corrected but I got 2 mssgs that there is
not enough room on the floppy to correct error. Tried to
copy the floppy to my hard drive with Win Explorer and in
DOS--couldn't do it. Is there anything else I can do to

2004 Account PIN restiction
Yesterday I downloaded the trial version and installed it
on my system. I added my bank account(Wells Fargo) and
then I tried to connect online. It asks for my account
number and then the PIN. But it restricts the PIN to 4
characters. I think it is not a good idea in terms of
security to have 4 character PIN. Is it possible to have
more characters in PIN and use it with Money? Or if I have
to use Money then I must restrict all my PINs to 4
characters.

From an analytical's standpoing -- how to get categories right?
Okay, I'm trying to use Money for what it's supposed to be for,
categorizing everything properly, and not throwing everything into the
"Miscellaneous" category.
But what about a number of odd things, such as:
Stamps or other similar items... I can't call them Groceries, and it
doesn't seem proper to call them Household, either?
Tithing... giving my 10% to my church doesn't seem to have an applicable
category.
I'm sure there are others, but these are the two that have been bugging
me as of late.

On-line Payees question.
Hi,
I have Microsoft Money 2003 Deluxe, and I've been using on-line Bill Pay for
over a year now. I don't seem to be able to resolve the following issue.
When I get a credit card statement, I first go to the respective credit card
account set in MS Money to balance the statement against the list of
downloaded transactions contained in the account register in MS Money. Once
I balance the statement, a dialog box pops up asking me if I would like to
pay this bill now or later. If I choose to pay this bill now, and select
E-pay, a box pops up, asking me to fill out necessary information for this
payee (such as name, address, phone number, and the account number). The
problem is that I already have this payee set in my Bills & Deposits section
of MS Money with all necessary information filled out. However, MS Money
doesn't seem to be able to match that payee with the payment that it's
trying to make. If after balancing the account I say "No" to the question
"Do you want to pay this bill now?", then I can go to the Bills & Deposits
section, select the respective recurrent bill from the credit card company,
enter the new amount, and just click on "OK". So, the Bill Pay does work,
but somehow payees set up in the Bills & Deposits section aren't recognized
as payees in the rest of MS Money.
When I look in the Payees section of MS Money, the on-line payees present
are only those whose information was filled out when answering "Yes" to the
question of whether or not I want to pay the bill right after balancing the
account. In other words, only those payees that were entered in the
"Withdrawal" or "Transfer" dialog boxes in the account register are showing
up among the payees in the Payees section of MS Money. Those payees that
were set up in the Bills and Deposits section of MS Money are not present
among the payees in the Payees section.
While being in the Bills & Deposits section, I can right click on the a
particular recurrent bill that I've set up, then click on "Go to Payee:
xxx", then click on the Change Details and Payment Options, and finally
chose my "Online Billing Details". The window that pops up is identical to
the window that is accessible from the Payees section (when right-clicking
on a Payee, selecting "Go to Details", then going to Change Details and
Payment Options, and finally choosing my "Online Billing Details".) So,
since the windows are identical, it appears that the information about both
types of payees is stored in the same place. Still, payees set up in the
Bills & Deposits section don't appear in the "Payee" section and aren't
accessible from the register when trying to pay the bill from there instead
of paying it from the Bills & Deposits section.
I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if it's possible to get
payees in the Bills & Deposits section to appear in the Payee section and if
it's possible to use payees from the Bills & Deposits section for Bill Pay
when entering the payment from the register.

Continuing saga of problems with online update of Money 98
In response to my 9/21/03 post re. difficulties in online
updating of Money 98, Bonnie Synhorst, MVP, suggested
unclicking a selection of symbols until the problem quote
was isolated. Given the description of how Money 98 reacts
to an incorrect symbol, that sounds like a rational
solution.
But, when I try that I get another error message saying
(paraphrase) that Money was not able to download internet
quotes and that I should verify the following: 1)check
modem connection & modem settings in windows control
panel; (I've got cable internet connection through
earthlink or am I missing something?) 2) check if internet
software is installed and you're able to successfully
access the internet; (I've got internet access with no
difficulties) and, 3) check that country code for symbols
is correct (it is).
Money won't allow me to isolate a group of symbols or even
just check status of one particular invetesment.

Money and Excel
I want to export a file from excel and import it into Money. Does anyone
have a refernece/URL where I can find an excel macro I can install for this
purpose. I seem to fing plenty of references for going the other way, ie.
importing Money data in Excel, but nothing that allows the reverse process.

Hi,
I'm just about to migrate from Money 2001 to Money 2003.
Money 2003 will be installed on a new PC.
Any hints on what I should have in mind? I hope that migrating the data
will be achieved by copying the .mny file. Will this get all data, or is
there a risk that I lose something? How do I migrate the .mny file from
Money 2001 into a version for Money 2003?

Mortgage Pay Off via Refinancing
I'm using the Money 2004 demo and am trying to close out
an existing mortgage after refinancing. Typically, monies
from the new mortgage(s) are used to pay off the
previous. However, Money won't let me transfer funds from
one mortgage to the next - at least it won't let me in
this demo.
I was also needing to allocate various closing costs to
categories for tax reasons.
These are activities that I've been able to do in Quicken
Deluxe 99 without any problems.

Backing up using a flash card
I have just installed a multi- flash card adapter below
the floppy drive (cost AUD $120 with a 128MB card) Money
reconises the drive as a removable drive and adds a
dropdown menu where the floppy option is. This seems to me
a more secure & reliable way to go for backup, its much
quicker and I do not have to compress the file
I can also save the .Mny quickly and easily

Zone Alarm & Norton's anti virus
For what its worth, I read a post last week on one of the
money newsgroups about problems downloading share updates
when using the above products. I had the same problem
until I changed the browser setting in money to use the
default setting rather than the one in money. On further
reading about Zone alarm it appears if you want to access
the downloads from within Money you need not only to
approve the money site but also allow server permission
and maybe put it all in a trusted site.

non-recurring payroll checks
Help! I have a problem setting up. Wanted to set up back
to 01/01/03 to track the entire year. Put in the first
payroll check. Money apparently assumes this amount is a
recurring amount, but it isn't--every payroll check is a
very different amount. How do I get the program to allow
