    - Starting problem Hy my name s Felipe and this is my 1st post here. I tried to find that info in Google before posting here but there is just too much garbage and I could not find it. My problem is this: My bank insue statements that when I upload into Money the description of the PAYEE is in the MEMO field this makes my life more complicated because I have to manually use "find and replace" every time (weekly) I upload a new statement. I guess such a nice software does have a way to specify that everytime I upload this statement it read the value in the MEMO field and throw it in the PAYEE field.     - MSN sync My portfolio on the MSN site seems to be out of date.. Many of the stocks I've bought in the last few months, for instance, are not there.     - Download imports into wrong account A while ago i incorrectly selected an account to download into and cannot get rid of it for the life of me. The association with the wrong account sticks. What happens, I download from institution A. I selected that should be institution B and it always puts that download into the account for institution B. I'd like to break the link to institution B so it will correctly put it into the account for A. I've tried going through and renaming accounts to no avail.     - Tracking Misc Investments Hi All, I'm working hard to get Money set up the way I need it to work. Thanks for the help so far. New question....when investing money in temporarily real estate (buying and selling foreclosures), how do I allocate those investments? I want to be able to see my profits, so that, if I invest $x in a property, and then in a couple of months, I receive back $y, so that money will then show me my profits, and keep it all allocated to this particular investment account.     - The curious case of MS Money 2005 Deluxe and the unavailable Split I have Microsoft Money 2005 Deluxe, Version 14.0.120.1105 After clicking around the program for half an hour I have completely failed at finding out how to record a stock split. I have followed the directions: Investing > Portfolio Manager > Record a special activity In my case the "Record a split..." option is disabled (gray) and therefore unclickable. If I right click on the Symbol, the "Split Shares" menu option is likewise disabled. Does anyone have a clue why these options are not available or what I can do to enable them?     - Transferred mny to new PC, cannot login My client just bought a new PC, after installing Money on the new one and copying over the mny file, it asks for a password to be able to gain access, my client is adamant there is no password. Both the new and old PC's are running Vista HomePrem, I installed Money on the new PC using the same CD as was used on the old one, I opened the sample.mny file and updated the software, file still asks for a password. The money version on the new PC is 14.0.120.1105, not sure what version is on the old one, I don't currently have access to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Budgeting by month - Money 2007 I would like to be able to budget an amount for a specific month, instead of simply listing it as yearly, and it get broken up 12 times. For example, I know I have a $120 termite bond that comes due in Apr. Instead of this showing up as $10 every month, I would rather it only show as $120 in Apr.     - Reports in Money appear to lock up I'm having a strange issue with Money.. I have a few customized reports that worked once but now they seem to freeze up when it says, "Loading.." I can customize the report, then put a checkmark in anything, then click apply and the report displays, then I can uncheck it and hit Apply again and it then displays the report correctly. I have run Money's repair tool (both levels) on my money file and there are no errors in the file (according to the log), and have uninstalled/reinstalled Money.     - Capital Gains Report is Incorrect, It's Using Average Cost Basis I'm using Microsoft Money Plus. I'm having an issue with the capital gains tax reporting. Essentially, I sold shares of a mutual fund to take a tax loss. I did not sell all of the shares, only the shares ( (purchased at certain dates and prices) that would yield a loss when sold. I specifically designated these shares in the transaction when I allocated the lots. However, the capital gains tax report is incorrect. It shows a gain. I can tell exactly what the program is doing. Even though I designated which lots to sell, the program is using my average cost basis when computing my gain/loss in the capital gains tax report. Obviously, I would like the program to track the shares as I designated them. I suppose I could make a note in my tax files with the correct information, but I would like the program to do what it's supposed to do. Is there a way I can fix this? Cal Learner?     - OFX. My investment bank has just started offering downloads of transactions into Money (or Quicken). Here's a problem I've encountered and any advice would be greatly appreciated: 1. Their download screen offers an "As of" date, but no "To date". For example, I can tell them I want transactions as of a certain date, but I cannot tell them the cutoff date. They assume I want ALL transactions from the "As of" date forward. 2. The downloads include post-dated transactions. For example, if an investment will pay a dividend payment 3 days from now, that transaction will be included in the download as a post-dated transaction. 3. Money doesn't handle post-dated transaction well. While it accepts them just fine, the account balances don't reflect the post-dated transactions. This makes account balancing difficult because my Money balances differ from they say I should have. (I'm aware of the Ending Balance switch, but it's applied universally which won't work well for me.) 4. After each download, Money attempts to reconcile my holdings with that of the brokerage. Since post-dated transactions aren't recognized, there is a discrepancy and Money asks if I want to adjust Money's holdings to that of the brokerage. (Obviously I don't because I know the cause of the discrepancy.) 5. Does OFX know if duplicate transactions have been downloaded? I know QIF will accept duplicates, but I'm not sure of OFX. For example, if I download today (using OFX) which includes a postdated transaction for 7/12/2008, what happens if I perform a download in the future and use an "As-of" date of 7/10/2008? Will I get the 7/12 transaction again or is OFX (or Money) smart enough to recognize that that transaction has already been downloaded? Thanks in advance for your help.     - Trying to purchase Money 2008 from Canada Since i'm not able to find Money 2008 in stores i initiated the "online way" of getting the update: From my Money 2004, clicked on "Buy Now" presented in the "Passport Usage Alert!", it brings me to MS website and finally to Digital River for the actual checkout and i'm presented with "US & PUERTO RICO ORDERS ONLY." What is my best route to purchase from Canada? I've read that Money 2008 was available for US, Japan & Canada, but why not the download version?!?     - Password Failing Money 2007 Im running Money 07 on Vista Ultimate. Up until about 6 days ago, I was able to sign-in and use Money just fine. Now when I open Money, I get a different start page to log into. It says "To open your file, enter your password". There is no option for entering in a username or to select to work offline. When I enter my password it fails. I am able to log into MSN money site just fine. How do I get into my .mny file? I have thought about getting a password recovery tool but they arent cheap.     - Bill - record payment vs. add transaction Hello, I have a recurring payment in the Bills section set up for my mortgage payment. The amount of the escrow payment increased recently, so I attempted to change the amount. I'm not sure what I did, but now when I double-click on the recurring payment, instead of a "Record payment" window, I get an "add transaction" window, and when I add the transaction, the due date on the Bills page does not roll to the next payment date.     - Order of Accounts in Account List I was wondering if there is a work around for the order of accounts in the account list in Money Plus Premium. Specifically I'd like to group some of my credit accounts (i.e. - travel cards, cash back, business cards). Since this doesn't seem to be a standard option (unless I am over looking something) I was wondering about putting a letter before each of the account names to group them. i.e. - "B credit card name" groups all the Business cards, "R credit card name" all the reward cards, etc. Good approach?     - Corrupted msn file? My main Money file will not open and seems to be corrupted. It says that the password is not recognized - although it is correct. I tried to run salv.exe but it tells me the same thing - password not regognized.If I run Standrad repair inside of Money (I first opened a test file) - it says that it "the utility cannot repair the file". Such behaviour hurts investors and MF schemes. Also, liquidation of positions held by MFs only serves to further weaken sentiments in markets. The 11% decline in assets under management (AUM) of MFs in June from the May level was caused mainly by the fall in the stock prices and not by large scale redemption, a nightmare most fund managers fear when stock markets tumble. Redemption pressures were experienced by the liquid funds, as companies withdrew money for advance tax payments. As liquid funds are designed to be short-term plans, offering reasonable returns, withdrawals, which are seasonal in nature, should not be a cause for much concern. Well-managed equity MFs deliver reasonably good returns over a long term. While they would be affected by market volatility, investors could protect themselves by investing in schemes which suit their risk profile. For that, investors must make the effort to understand the objective of the fund, investment style of its portfolio manager and the bias of the fund. Investors must also be very clear about their investment objective and the period for which they would like to stay invested in a fund. Investors seeking stable, low-risk returns are better advised to keep a larger portion of their savings in debt schemes or conservatively managed/balanced equity MFs. The MF industry and its regulator, the Association of Mutual Funds in India, also need to take steps to keep the activities of asset management companies above board. Breach of their fiduciary role, such as manipulation of net asset value of schemes by fund managers, reported recently, could dent the confidence of investors in professional managers.     - Trending Item One feature I like in my MSMoney is the forecast of my cash flow but it doesn't seem to be working properly. It never shows a trended item for my gross income that I set up that I set up in the system. It does trend other income/interest however?? How come my gross income never get forecasted?     - Incorrect MRD Calculation In Lifetime Planner In MS Case # 1065381525ID I received a reply that the Minimum Required Distribution (MRD) calculation from an IRA account in MS Money Plus Lifetime Planner is not being performed correctly and is a known issue with the program. For my particular case (turned 70 this year), I noticed that this MRD calculation is wildly incorrect and distorts all of the future lifetime planner forecasts making this feature of the program essentially unuseable.     - Downloaded bank data-check entries all come thru with same payee n I download my banking details every couple of months or so into my Microsoft Money (2004 version). It downloads all ATM, POS, electronic payments as well as all checks I've written. I'm having a problem with downloaded check entries. Each check entry comes through with the correct check #, date, and check amount - but all check payees come through with the same payee. For example-this last download listed all the checks I've written for the past three months with "American Express" as the payee. The last time I downloaded, it listed all check payees as "Joe Smith". The payees are valid payees that I've written checks to before, so it's not making them up. But I can't figure out why all the check data entries keep coming through with the same payee. This forces me to have to refer to my handwritten checkbook register for the correct payee, and correct each downloaded check entry which is a pain.     - Online setup - Track positions only I have MS$2007 Deluxe. I'm trying to set up a new retirement account for online downloads. I would like to only track the positions and not the transactions. In the "account update settings" screen there is the option to "Track positions only" or "track positions and transactions" Unfortunately the positions only setting is grayed out. The other fields (payee, memo etc. in the "Transaction Form" box remain left-justified. Everything works but it is visually irritating.
