    - problem with loan interest and principal I have a 10 year student loan I'm paying off. I set it up correctly and each month the amount was entered and the interest amt declined and the principal increased and the payment numbers advanced as they should. Then suddenly it stopped doing that and got stuck on payment number 3 and keeps giving me the same principal and interest amt. It has done this now for about 7 months, except for one month when it suddenly gave me a payment number 6. I've looked at the loan account settings and everything looks ok for the original amount and the interest rate,etc. When I look at the amortization schedule going forward, it looks ok, although it shows starting with payment 4 in January of 07 when I've probably already made about 15 payments. Many of these payments in the past have been reconciled in my checkbook, so how do I fix this problem and show the correct amounts? Puzzled as to what the heck is going on here. When I go to the bills section and click on that payment and select "edit bill series", it pops up a message that says "The recurring payment doesn't match the default Loan Acct payment, so changes here won't affect the default payment. If you want to change the default payment, click cancel now, go to the Loan Account's Acct Settings and click the change Loan Term's settings" But when I go to that page the loan amt that is show on that page and the interest rate looks ok, so why would I want to change something?     - What happened to "Reminders" In 2003, I could set reminders that showed up on my home page. In 2007 I see a "reminder" that is an add for MSN Money, but nowhere for me to enter a reminder.     - Money 2004 was better As noted in a previous post, I was forced into "upgrading" to 2007 due to Microsoft EOLing updates on 2003. Updates didn't always work on 2003, sometimes you had to try a few times. But they NEVER posted erroneous data to my accounts. I just spent a half hour manually fixing 6 accounts that Money 2007 screwed up by duplicating entries, reversing entries etc. Searching for help, I've seen a ton of posts this month about users having problems with automatic updates. Some quote Microsoft as saying that the issues are due to a "third party provider" with no estimate for when it will be fixed. Pathetic.     - Wrong closing quotes today Multiple positions seem to show incorrect closing quotes on the Moneycentral server this evening. The "charts" on that service appear to be correct, but the quote detail is incorrect. One example: ALL 65.77 but really is 65.30 Fidelity and Reuters, as well as the chart displayed with ALL on moneycentral, all show the 65.30 quote. Checking time and sales data shows no trades during the last hour at 65.77. I think Fidelity would show an after hour trade price if such occurred. Any ideas as to the problem?     - Unable to sign in online with Money 2007... I have just installed Vista Ultimate along with Windows Live OneCare. I have then installed my Money 2007 and then completed the Money 2007 SP1 update. I then restored my money data from my Money backup file. Everything in Money seems to work OK, except I can not sign in online although I can sign in to my Money file local with no problem. I am getting an error from Microsft Money stating "You must be connected to the internet to sign in online.". Now I have a broadband connection and I am looking at a signed in Messenger Live and have IE7 open and looking at Microsoft's home page. So has Vista or Windows Live OneCare got Money blocked so it can not get out or something. Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening with my Money 2007?     - Best way to handle an IRA I have an IRA account that is invested in various mutual funds. I can't get daily pricing on the funds, and tracking the share counts of all those funds would be a pain in the backside. So what I've been doing instead is just assuming a combined share price of $1 and adjusting the shares to the account total. In other words, if my IRA is worth $12345, that means I have 12345 shares at $1 per share. As the IRA changes value over time, I just do a Add or Remove Shares until the account value matches the actual value. Since the account is tax exempt (deferred), I don't think this method will have any long term implications, tax or otherwise. Is this the best way to handle an IRA account? Bruce. However, two banks that are on the pick list are not working. I receive the error message obres:22063. Now, my budget shows a line item for the debt reduction (and corresponding amount) even though I de-selected the debt account from the Debt Plan (so all the accounts are listed under "debt accounts not in debt plan".     - Figures lie and liars figure.... Here is an example of how figures can be misleading,. I am referring to the Portfolio Performance stats that are given for your investments compared to Dow Jones and S&P. What happens is, say you have $20,000 invested in mutual funds, and YTD your return is 15%. Your mutual fund declared a big capital gain/dividend, which you automatically reinvested. Yesterday your $20,000 drops to $19,000, dropping your annualized return of course. Today, it's back up to $20,000, but with a $1,000 reinvested at today's prices. So now you have the same money as 2 days ago, but your return is no longer 15%, but it's say 13%. In a way that's right, in a way that's not right.     - How can I run two versions of Money on the same computer? Hi. I have used MS Money 2001 since it came out and only use it for a few checking accounts. A friend gave me his copy of MS Money 2007 H&B as he didn't like it. Can't say I blame him. His business computer, like mine, is not connected to the Internet for security reasons. Anyway I have used QB in the past and I hate that, so I decided to install 2007 and test it. So far I have only played with the invoice module (the one in QB sucks) and planned to give the program a workout after the 1st of the year. BUT, I need to continue using 2001 and I can't. Nothing happens when I click on it. I put the 2001 CD back in the drive and was going to do a re-install (thinking I might have messed something up) but I get a grey box message that states "The current installed version of Money is newer than the version on this CD" so I know that 2007 is the culprit here.     - Portfolio Manager "Update prices" - not updating stock prices since 13th of Dec I am using "Microsoft Money 2006 Premium". In the "Portfolio Manager" if I click on "Update prices"-->"Update prices now", it come up with the "Update Status" dialog showing "Update complete". The problem is that none of my stocks are getting updated. If I click on the "Online updates" icon on the upper right corner and go to the "Review update results" page, there it shows that the last successful update for the "Quotes, News & Exchange Rates" was on 12/13/2006. All other account updates are current and don't have a problem.     - Money2007 :: Slow Response Upgraded from Money2003. Money2007 takes nearly 6 minutes to load and consumes 85-95% of the CPU (according to Task Manager). Changing screens, for example from Bills to Portfolio, takes anywhere from 15 to 25 seconds each time, and consumes nearly all of the CPU while it is doing it. Where did MoneyExpress go?!? What a pain to have to be in the account to enter a simple transaction. I used MoneyExpress almost exclusively for my day-to-day entries. This is supposed to be a "better" version? Account Balancing -- where are the details we used to have? For example, Starting Balance, Ending Balance, Deposits, Withdrawals, etc.? This was very useful to have and now it's gone. Again, this is supposed to be better? You don't take features *away* from a product!! During a Portfolio transaction (Buy, Sell, etc.) it can take upwards of 40 seconds to complete each time I do one! All of these things make the tool difficult to use, and I've been using Money since 1993! Some versions were better, but Money2007 is not one of them. Now whenever I download statements, this account is recurrently added back despite relegating it to an "account closed" status.     - 401k statement date While entering historical data for my 401k, I accidently entered a statement date of 9/30/2006 instead of 9/30/2000. I didn't realize it until I tried to load 12/31/2000 statement, and received a pop-up that said "please enter a statement date later than your last statement date". After realizing my error, I deleted the transactions with the incorrect date and tried to reenter them with the correct date. At the 401k manager, it still shows the 9/30/2006 statement date, and won't let me enter any transactions prior to it.     - same day buy/sell transactions for ms money 2007 Hello, can anyone discuss how to handle this. If I buy and sell a stock the same day, MS Money does not seem to add these transactions according to the TIME these transactions occured. this causes the buys to all be grouped together and the sells to be grouped together. additionally since the SELL transactions are first in the register before the BUY transations for the SAME day, this causes the share count to go negative. So money then rectifies this by adding ADD SHARE and REMOVE SHARE transations, screwing up the profit and loss since these transactions have to price. How do I get MS Money to understand same day transactions? Moving the dates around can help but doesn't always work because sometimes it won't let me move the BUY transactions before the SELL transactions.     - Money 2007 SP 1 and Vista Business I recently did a clean install of Vista Business. I then installed Money 2007 (which I had previously been running on XP Professional). I of course got SP 1 pushed down afterwards. I then receive the repeating request to install the SP. Right-click MNYCoreFiles, and then click Delete. When I click "Compatibility Files" it opens a list but doesn't have MNYCoreFiles.     - More M07 and Vista observations Tried the looping update message fix but no cigar. I did find that if I turn off UAC, the message goes away, but I am thinking the update doesn't think it's complete. If I turn UAC back on the message comes back, but programs shows the updated version and works as designed. I just cancel at each start. At first on install it would not connect to my live ID. I turned off web shield in Avast, and it worked. After a few reboots it works fine with web shield enabled. Reason I am running Avast is that I am running 64 bit Vista.     - My Password blanks out A strange thing has just started to occur. My MS Money 2005 file is protected by a password. When i open the file i enter my email and then my password. If working offline the password is blanked out when i click sign in and the file does not open.
