    - budget and reports I am using Money 2005 Deluxe and am having a tough time getting it to do something. I want to be able to track actual versus a budget (get a report -- monthly, yearly) for selected income and expense categories. I have an investment property that i want to be able to track actuals versus budget. I would also like to be able to have a budget for personal expenses. I don't seem to be able to get an actual versus budget report for certain categories or classification 1 (which i am using for this property) without including all of my other budget items (including the personal budget items that money automatically drops into the budget from the bill payer). Any ideas on how to do this in the same money file? Would microsoft money small business be able to seperate personal from business in the same money file? thanks in advance.     - Synchronizing Money2005 with PocketPC I have Money 2005 installed on my desktop computer. I downloaded and installed the money 2005 for the pocket pc program and tried to use it. The first time activesync ran, it loaded all my account information to the pocket pc. When I take the pocket pc out of the cradle and input some transactions then put it back in the cradle, it will not syncronize the information with the desktop. If I put the information in the desktop and try to sync, it won't work either. If I go into activesync and tell it to delete all transactions from the pocket pc and then resync, it locks up activesync. I had Money 2002 on both systems and it worked fine until I had a problem with my pocket pc and had to hard reset it. I couldn't find the money 2002 program for the pocket pc anywhere, so I upgraded to 2005. Nothing worked correctly at first, so I uninstalled everything (desktop and ppc), rebooted, installed 2005, and now I have these problems. I have activesync 3.7.1 (3.8 gave me all kinds of problems and that is why I lost the 2002 stuff) and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling 2005 on both the desktop and ppc several times.     - Off Topic: Financial Institutions OFX Servers I thought this might be an appropriate place to throw out this question even though it's not directly related to MS Money since I've found some of the long time posters here to be very knowledgeable about electronic transactions with financial institutions. I am interested in writing software that acts as an OFX client to financial institutions, much like Money and Quicken. After reading the OFX specification it appears any software that conforms to the specification should be able to talk to an institution's public OFX servers. Is that a correct assumption, or are the servers configured to reject requests unless they are coming from Money, Quicken, etc. If so OFX would not appear to be an "open" standard. Occasionally when I go into the Cash Flow report or Bills & Deposits, I get this message: "A file needed to run the Planner is either missing or corrupted. To resolve this problem, reinstall Money and then reopen your Money file." This happened on my old computer even after I reinstalled Money.     - delete 2002 after upgrade to 2005 I had been using 2002 and decided to upgrade to 2005 several months ago. I purchased the upgrade online. My hard drive is only 4G and I'm trying to free up space. I see in my add/remove programs list that 2002 is 311MB, 2002 service pack is 5.98MB, and 2005 is 75.05MB.     - Budgeting for your Mortgage Payments I am using Money 2004. I used to track my Mortgage as just a Bill that I paid like any other. Now I've started actually managing my Mortgage by creating a Mortgage account. I'm all set up with making payments to my Mortgage account with paying Principle, Loa Interest, and Escrow. Here's how I pay my Mortgage: 1.) go to the Account List and click on my Mortgage. 2.) click on "New" on the Loan Payment section @ the bottom 3.) choose the "Make a regular loan payment" option 4.) In the "Edit Transaction" window the appears, I split the transaction & entering in all of the dollar values for each category. The 3 categories I end up using are: a.) Principle Transfer: Mortgage b.) Loan: Mortgage Interest c.) Transfer to Escrow Account What I can't seem to figure out is how to include my Budget in my Mortgage. I *can* include the Loan Interest & the Escrow, since that's just a Loan Category & an account Transfer. I can't seem find the "Principle Transfer" category when Budgetting my Expenses. Should I be trying to budget each individual portion of the Mortgage payment? or just the entire amount? In my Checking Account Ledger, I see "Loan Payment : Mortgage" listed as the Category...but I can't find that in my Category list either. "Loan Payment" is a reserved title in Money, so I can't create it either. should I change the category of the transaction in my Checking Account ledger to something like "Bill: Mortgage Payment" ?     - "No Interest, same as cash" debt planner question in Money 2004 In the debt planner there is a way to set the interest to a promotional rate that ends at the specific period. However, I do not see a way to force it to handle the promotional periods that many stores use which accrue interest in a lump sum at the end of the promotional period if it is unpaid. Is there a way to tell the optimizer in the debt planner this information? In the help it says to just plan on paying the entire amount off just prior to this interest period begins, and then gives a little blurb about treating it like every other promotional interest card payment if it isn't possible to do so. I have attempted to do this and the optimizer ends up going just past the promotional end date and thus unknowingly violates the assumptions it is using. If you are unfamiliar with this form of credit plan, here is a short explanation. Many stores will offer you a plan that for a specific time period, such as 2 years, you will pay no interest as long as you pay it off by the end of that time. If you do not pay the full amount in the time period, depending on the specific wording of the plan, you might have the following occur: 1) No penalty other than accrueing finance charges for the remaining amount at the end of the period as if it were a normal bank card. 2) "Penalty" assessed equal to interest for original amount during the promotional period added as a lump sum. 3) "Penalty" assessed equal to interest for the monthly amount during the promotional period added as a lump sum. As you can see in all cases but the first, this drastically changes the payment plan relative to all accounts. I've attempted to do this in excel with the solver in optimize mode, and for simple cases it shows there is a benefit to actually modelling it, however with a complicated case the solver just dies. The debt planner seems to have a good enough optimizer in it that it should be able to handle this case, if someone can just tell me how to give it the information.     - Advanced budget problem - please help I am trying to use the advanced budget. I enter all of my expenses and Money automatically enters some my apay bills. Everything on the expenses form looks fine. However, when I go to the budget summary page, it doubles the budget amount for two of the apay bills. I cannot figure out how to change this amount or why it is doing this. When I click on edit transactions, one of the problem categories shows the bill twice, while the other shows it only once (but the total is twice the amount). FWIW - the essential budget appears to work fine, but doesn't allow me to use the sub-categories. So I would like to get the advanced budget working if possible.     - Paid for upgrade to Deluxe 2005 -- now it says Trial? I just purchased Money 2005 Standard today. I got it home, installed it and realized that one of my favorite old features was not included in Standard. Anyhow a message popped up after a while asking if I would like to upgrade, I did - I plugged in my .net password, credit card and address info and finally got a download page. I downloaded a file that was named webinst.exe - installed it (it asked me to remove Money first) and now when I start up the program it tells me its the Trial Edition .... what went wrong? My card has been charged ... is there a page that will let me re-downloaded the exe ? while I still have the original I kinda want to have another look.     - Auto reconcile problem As soon as I download transactions from any of my online accounts, all of them are marked as reconciled, even before I accept them. (I do not have "Automatically accept all downloaded transactions from banking statements" or "Automatically mark accepted transactions as reconciled" chacked.)     - M03 help not available x-no-archive: yes Whenever I try to access a help topic in M03 Deluxe, I get a message saying "Unable to load topic. Click here to try again." (Of course, clicking doesn't do a thing.) This happens even when I have the Money CD in the drive. There's nothing in the "Tools>Options" menu about help.     - Money 2004 crashes on download! I have been using Money 2004 with online services for over a year now, and this morning it started crashing when it would do its latest download. I have daily backups, so I went back a couple of days and restored a presumably known good backup, and same thing happens when it does its account download. I reboot the system to be sure everything was clean. Now it is able to download fine if I process updates again, here is the problem - from the crashed event, I have about 12 transactions that it says I have to check, but they do not show up for example in my checking account register and credit card account! I do a standard repair, and it does not find anything. The settings on whether or not to download seem to be tied to the file, as I go in and turn off all download, then come back in and restore the old backup, and it fires off a download and crashes right away. I need to be able to figure out how to get the download from crashing Money 2004, or how to recover the transactions that it thinks it has downloaded (and I know are real) but that do not show up in account registers. I thought maybe I could delete those download accounts' online functionality and re-add it, and it will let me re-download all the transactions. Is that right? I thought doing that may not let me re-establish download capability without calling my bank or something. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.     - Mutual Funds and symbols I have two of the same mutual funds, one is being used as a Roth IRA and the other as a general investment. MS Money 2004 will not allow me to enter the stock symbol when I created the IRA account (the general investment was created first and its symbol entered).     - Can I set up a car loan to replace past category entries? I originally had set up a zero interest car loan payment by just creating a category and sub-category. Now I would like to replace all the past information with a proper car loan created with the debt planner. I can easily create the car loan to start last year, even the calculation was the same as the car company. But there does not seem to be a way to move the past category entries into the loan. Yes, I did try moving the computer date back; created a loan and then reset the clock. Nothing in my Money 2002 data changed. Though my virus program had a snit and forced me to do a re-registration. Am I asking M02 to do the impossible or have I missed something and am about to embarrass myself?     - Double Counting If you set MS Money up for your credit cards and your bank accounts, if you make a payment from a bank account to your credit card, MS Money will double count a credit card payment if you categorize it as a "credit card payment".     - Money 2005 Cash Flow Shows Multiple Credit Card Payment When I run the Cash Flow report in Money 2005 I have multiple transactions for my credit cards in the cash flow. And example is I have a recurring transaction for a credit card in the debt planner for $100.00 due on 3/5. I see the recurring transaction on the cash flow report. Right below the recurring transaction there is 2 more payments that are not recurring for the same credit card, same payment amount, and same payment date.     - Money 2005 I spoke with a Mirosoft Technician on the phone and he informed me that to log-on to Money 2005 and download my banking, credit card and brokerage info, I have to disable my Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security ! Money is not a multi user program for use on a network. BTW, if you try to access the file from two computers you'll probably get an error that the file is in use by the other computer.     - Storage on USB I currently run Money on my home PC with files stored on hard drive. I'd like the convenience of also having it on my work laptop. Can I store the main files on a USB drive and just pop that in every time I run money at home or at work ?. I assume the backup files have ALL the info and it should work seamlessly.     - Excluding accounts in the monthly reports 2005 I have money 2005 premium and I am having problems with closed accounts being added to my montly reports as expenses-unassigned. Yes I have clicked on the options to leave these out of my reports and budget but the program doesn't seem to care. The accounts are duplicate accounts where my wife and I have joint accounts at the same bank but differnt IRAs. Is there a way to fix this? I have brought this issue up before in the forum but no one seemed to be able to answer this. I am sure MS knows about this issue and I have no idea why 2005 will not let you delete an account without deleting all accounts that are link to that bank with the same login and password. This is really fustrating because its saying that I have 12,000 dollars in unassigned transactions that don't really exist. computer forms which are preprinted with my logo when I print invoices. I
noticed that one of the choices for invoice printing is Harland. I cannot
find a supplier for Harland invoice forms. Is there any other supplier for
Money invoice forms?

Thanks, but I've been there already. I'm looking for a supplier where I can
purchase the invoice forms online. There are plenty of them who have the
blank checks, but none that have blank invoices.
