About once a week,I get a message saying my file lists an incorrect balance

msn billpay no longer works from within mny05
i can no longer pay with msn billpay from within money2005. it was working
fine the day before yesterday. when i go to manage online services it says
for msn billpay "set up online services" and no longer shows the accounts i
use for billpay. when i click on set up it just takes me to the billpay
website and asks for my login. also my billpay accounts no longer show up on
moneycentral. money05 has been funky of late and online updates very rarely
work. i have had to resetup the online updates several times in the last
month. the update settings just disapper. does anyone know whatssup? if this

bad debt write offs
How do I post bad debt write offs? I need the write off to reduce the payees
balance so they don't show up on a receivables report anymore. I tried
creating an expense to offset the uncollectable debt but the payee still

Can't Restore a Password Protected File
I have never used a Passport but the Money File is password protected. I've
never been able to restore a backup because it wants to use my Passport but
the Passport is NOT associated with the Money File (so when I do try to use
the Passport, it tells me it isn't associated...duh). I've been using Money
2003 and have now upgraded to 2005 but can't get to any of my info from the
backup. I have lots of backups but can't restore ANY of them in 2003 or

How can I generate a new report in Money 2004. It seems that the only
way to do it is modify a old report but I want to keep they old report.
I want to generate a new report for 2006 but keep the old 2005 report.
When I change the date on the old report it does not ask me if I want

Budget doesn't calculate correctly
Iâ??m using Money 2006, and am having problems with the budgetâ??s calculations.
I have set up all the bills and deposits that I have. We get 2 paychecks,
roughly $500 and $1300 each, every other week. I have each deposit and bill
set to add it into a category in the budget when it is entered into the
registry.
When I set the budget up, everything looks correct. It says monthly income
is roughly $3900. Expenses around $2000.
When I hit finish, and look at my budget, it says that income for the month
is budgeted at just under $13,000! And Expenses are just under $4000.
It is counting ~12 $500 paychecks, and ~5 $1300 paychecks. This month has 3
$500 checks and 2 $1300.
All the expenses are doubled, except one which is 5 times as much as the
bill says.
I know that Iâ??m probably doing something very simple incorrectly, but I

Stock Spin Off
Hi,
I use the 'record a spin-off' feature in money 2004 deluxe to enter my stock
spin-off transactions. My question is how to use it when one company spins
off two stocks. I tried to do them on the same day and the program ignored
the second transaction. I tried again, using the next day for the second
transaction, and it worked. Is there any way to enter them both on the same
day?

Invalid Pathname when upgrading
I downloaded an upgrade from Money 2004 to 2005 a while back (I'll never do
that again). I recently had to wipe my hard drive clean and start over by
reinstalling Windows XP Professional. The only version of Money that I had
on CD to reinstall was Money 2004. I thought I could just install the old
2004 version and restore from the back up file that I created from Money
2005. It told me that the password for that file was incorrect. I know my
password! I have never changed it.
I recently downloaded the trial version of 2005 so that I could get my file
restored and that worked great!!! The only problem is that the trial version
is going to run out on me. So I just bought 2006 and when I try to restore
it I am getting an invalid pathname error. I restored the 'sample' file and
am now trying to restore my backup. I have over 8 years of information on
this file and am sweating some

How to print last page of checking?
I'm using Money 2004 Small Business. In a checking account, how do I
print a certain date range? The only option is to print all or some
select number of pages, which is useless since you have no idea which
page you are on.

Hi,
When viewing Monthly Reports (I'm using 2004 Deluxe), is there a way to
exclude a credit card account from that report.
On most of the other reports, you can select which accounts and/or
categories you want the reports to include or exclude from reports, I don't

I'm having problems with adding items to an invoice - it's a currency
thing!
Uisng 2006 Small Buss, and when I create an invoice, the item always
prices as UK =A3 even though my base currency is set to Euros. Is there
something i'm doing wrong?

Problems with recurring bill/deposit paid earlier
I have a recurring deposit set up each month for 14th. Now that this deposit
actually arrived at December 29th instead of next year's Jan 14th, I've
entered the next occurence (scheduled at Jan 14) into the register, using
Dec 29 date.
Everything is fine, BUT the budget for the Jan does not take this into
account. It still thinks there is going to be deposit at Jan 14 - even thou
it has been received earlier by Dec 29 and entered into the register.
Is it a known bug? I am usind Deluxe 2006 trial version.

Money 2006 and Money for PPC
I am a long term user of Microsoft Money and Money for PPC. I recently
upgraded to Money 2006 and subsequently upgraded my money for ppc to
2006. From then on my money for ppc doesn's seem to synchronize with
the desktop money. Whenever i try to synchronize by clicking the check
box beside Microsoft Money in the options dialog box of Active sync I
get the message "Attention required". When I disconnect and
re-connect, the money option is removed automatically by active sync
and only the other catagories sync. One website adviced me to repair
my money file and I did but without any effect. I have installed money
for ppc in main memory and not in the storage card. I have Windows
mobile 2003 SE running on my i-mate Jam and ActiveSync 3.8 on my
Windows XP desktop with Money 2006 Deluxe. In case anyone knows why

Budget and Mortgage - MS Money 2006 Deluxe
My Mortgage payment does show up under the Debt section in my budget. My
Mortgage payment category is Loan Payment: House Loan in my checking account
from which I pay my mortgage. So far so good.
However when I run the budget - spending report. The Budget column does not
show the budget amount for the Mortgage. The Actual column does under the
Debt Category does. It thus looks like I spent more, when this item is
actually budgeted.
This does not make sense.
MSMONEY documentation is POOR. Why cant we have a complete comprehensive

How do I just track "cash" funds?
I want to use for a single, simple purpose, but I can't figure out how to. I
am currently using a spreadsheet to subdivide my income into "cash" funds
within my checking/savings account; categories such as giving; housing;
utilities; insurance; auto repairs; new auto savings; education; etc. When I
deposit a paycheck, I subdivide it into these 18 or 20 funds. Then, when I
pay a bill, I subtract the amount from the appropriate fund, always keeping a
positive cash balance.
I can go on forever doing this by spreadsheet, but it is really a database
function, and I'd rather do it in a database program (which I assume Money
is).
Is there any way to get Money to do this simple task? I don't want to pay
bills from Money; I don't want to track a stock portfolio or net worth. I
just want to manage my money while paying bills the old-fashioned way. I
have three computers, with Money 2002, Money 2003, and one purchased last
month for which I haven't checked the Money version installed.

frustrated so I deleted the account and tried adding it again, now I get a

Cash flow in account details
I had the cash flow forecast at the bottom of the transaction details page of
my checking account. I right clicked and deselected it and now I cannot
figure out how to get it bak. I know I can go to a "cash flow" screen, but I

Microsoft Money file will not load upon reinstallation to new computer
I'm working with Microsoft Money 2004 Standard. I'm transferring my
money file to a new computer. It works just fine on the old one, but
when I try loading the file on my new laptop the program always stalls.
Balances and investment information will load up, but the budget
section remains at "Loading...". I've tried transferring the files two
different ways (on a memory key and via email) but the result is the
same, so file corruption is not an issue. I've also tried archiving off
several years' worth of data to adjust the file size, but with no

Using Money Trial Deluxe 06 when I normally use Deluxe 02
I'm using Money 02, generally satisfied with it though there are some
annoying things in the user interface (such as only showing 10 lines of
stocks or securities at a time in an unnecessarily small window when I have a
nice big monitor that could show a whole lot more, which would be handy when
I'm comparing what Money says with what my broker's web site says. And the
way I can't sort the order by security name or symbol or date purchased in
those little windows. Othr places, yes, but not when you're asked to
reconcile. )

Money 2006 Deluxe & Passport
All,
First of all, thanx to all for your valuable input/suggestion/trick
posts about MIcrosoft Money products. I am new to personal financial
softwares and have recently purchased Money 2006 Deluxe. The
installation went fine but when I try to create a new Money file, on
the 3rd screen it asks to enter/create Passport username/password,
which I don't want to do. I saw few posts in this group suggesting that
Money 2006 doesn't need Passport account and it can be skipped/ignored
in some way. But on that screen, I didn't find any link/check-box with
which I can skip it and go further. Please tell me how to skip Passport
part and create/open Money file without Passport username/password.

Reappearing bills
I'm experiencing a bug and wondering if anybody else has seen this, and
if so, what their solution was. This is with Money 2006 Deluxe.
If I skip or delete a regularly scheduled bill, it will reappear the
next time Money is opened. This is happening with a half dozen of my
bills.
I've tried both of the repair options to no avail. And because I have
about 34 accounts going back many years, I really don't want to go

Reccuring Bills: Payment Method Selection Problem
Hi -- I hope that someone can help me out.
I've recently upgraded from MS Money 2005 to 2006 Deluxe version.
When setting up a new recurring bill I'm encountering a problem when
selecting the bill "payment method". The drop down list only offers "write
check" as a payment method choice. Shoulden't there be other choices/methods
offered?

Money 2006 - Unread transactions not showing (hidden)
For the past 4 weeks, I have not been able to see any transactions that I
have downloaded from bank web sites. It would show that there were unread
transactions but none would show up. I had tried the solutions shown
elsewhere in this newsgroup (i.e. clear cache, repair data file, uninstall
and reinstall Money, create new data file, restore backup data file, etc.)
but none of them worked for me.
I have stumbled on a solution that did work for me and I wanted to share it
with others.
Go to the Account List screen. Right mouse click on one of the accounts
where downloaded transactions are not showing. Select "See Account History".
Once the chart has been displayed, click on the back button which should
take you back to the Account List. Then, left click on the account name
and, if you have the same results as me, your hidden transactions should
magically re-appear.
If this doesn't work, I have one other possible solution. On the Account
List, right mouse click on "Positions to Read:" for the account with hidden
transactions. Select the last item on the list - "Delete Statement". Then
try the above process of showing history. After that, download your
statements again and hopefully the unread transactions will show up.
I know this solution sounds strange but there must be something about the
"See Account History" procedure that fixes a problem with the data file.

click New, but it will not allow me to do this. I can enter a new transaction

Split AMEX Card and AMEX Sign and Travel?
Money 2003 Deluxe
I have a American Express card that of course splits into the regular
monthly charges (paid in full at the end of each month, and no interest),
and the Sign and Travel part, which is a revolving account that charges
interest.
If I download from Amex, the entire account d/ls, mixing the non-interest
and the interest charging account together. Is there a way to split into
two accounts, and download each portion separately?
I'd like to be able to maintain two accounts on Money -- one that shows me
what I owe in full at the end of the month, and another that shows the "long
term" debt.

Am not able to run MSMNY03.

Converting QIF data
I notice there is an Excel macro that converts flat data into the QIF
format, suitable for importing into Money.

Money 2004 has a phantom Balanced On: date
I am a few statements behind on my balancing so I was trying to play catch up
and when I went in to balance the account, the date it suggested for the
statement date didn't coincide with when my actual statement date is (about 2
weeks off). There was a single entry for interest that was marked reconciled
with that date. I put my statement date in with the beginning and ending
balances but then Money complained that the starting balance wasn't the same.
I can't seem to get rid of this screwy "Balanced On:" date so that I can
actually balance the account.
I've tried the file repair option but that didn't seem to fix anything with

M05: Citi downloads debit transactions AND debit authorizations
When I download transactions from Citibank the statement data includes both
the actual debit transaction AND the authorization for the same debit. The
result is that I have duplicates for all the debits and have I have to go
through and delete all the authorizations which somewhat negates the benefit
of the automatic download!
Has anyone else experienced this and come up with a solution?

stock options in Money 2006 Canadian
I've recently installed Money 2006 Canadian. The documentation indicates that
stock and equity options are supported, but I haven't been able to figure out
how to enter them. For a new investment, the Investment Type list doesn't
include stock options (other than employee stock options), and if I enter
them as stocks, the transaction type list does not include the
option-specific types (i.e. buy to open, sell to close, exercise, etc). Am I

Crash during upgrade of money 2002 to 2004

I am trying to open my Money 2002 file on a Money 2004 (version 12.0 -
Update 1), and it crashes every time I try it. Money 2004 asks for my
password, then I start the Setup Assistant but when I click 'next' in
the Money File Conversion window, the application crashes with the
following Erro Signature:

MS Money 2005 - Internal Error
Click on MS Money 2005 and open Sample.mny, it immediately puts up a error
reporting, â??We're sorry, but Microsoft Money has experienced an internal
error and will have to restart.â??, then I get a 2nd error reporting the exact
same thing. After that, MS Money closes. When I try to open my normal file,
it does not recognize my id, then gives me the above error messages and shuts
the software down. Any advice? I have done the latest updates to

Problem while removing incomes in Essential Budget
I am using M2006, I've been using the Essential Budget for a while, but
now I trying to switch to the advanced budget without success. My
problem is exactly described in the issue KB899628 (

doesn't work. When I try to remove all my incomes entries and click
Done, everything seems to be okay, but when I reenter in the "Edit
income" window, always appears 3 new blank incomes without my

Cash Flow crashes
Hi
I am running Money 2004. All seems to work well except if I look at my cash
flow forecast. Within a few seconds of clicking on the button, the graph
comes on the screen and then "Money has encountered a problem and needs to
close" I have run the repair data base but still get the same error. Any

Money 2006: Setting up fidelity netbenefits w/ 401(k) and ESPP acc
Hi - I purchased Money2006 last week and set it up with my credit and bank
accounts. I added Fidelity Netbenefits - where I have a 401(k) and a ESPP
account - same company. However, Money only pulls the transactions from my
401k account. I don't see a way of setting it up so it also works with the
ESPP account. The ESPP account in fidelity doesn't seem to have an account
number.
Any ideas?

MSN Money Synchronization Error
I continually get "!Updates are temporarily unavailable. Please try again
later." when I perform online updates in MSN Money Deluxe 2006. Although,
the chosen accounts indicate an update time on the "My Money" web page, the
spending expense categories do not update and an error is generated stating
there are no expense transactions for the time specified (which is the last
30 days). Obviously, there have been transactions generated during the time

DO NOT ARCHIVE THE MONEY FILE
With year end quickly approaching this topic is intended for those
users of Microsoft Money who might intend to archive their 2005 data.
Do NOT do it. It will NOT do what you would think archiving a file
should do. All you have to do is continue using Microsoft Money
normally. The program can report your data by each year. It is
important that ALL your data remains in ONE current file. Back-up your
data on a regular basis, but don't archive. If the program runs slow,
don't assume that it is because of too much data in your file and by

I just purchased a new computer preloaded with MNY 2005. I have used MNY 97,
