    - Downloading transactions with stock symbol conflict - endless loop. I have downloaded my transactions from my brokerage ... while trying to bring them all into the account I am on the screen titled Review Investment Activity... and I appear to be stuck in a loop where two named entries are conflicting One is 'Pengrowth Gas Income (Canada)' and the other is 'Pengrowth Tr Cl A Units' Both are the same company and the same ticker -> PGH I have tried all options available while trying to import these - This investment is already in my .... and - Add this as a new investment ... If I choose the first one and select the existing PGH entry - it asks me Are you sure 'blah' is the same as PGH? So if I choose Yes - it then goes to the other entry and I am at the same point - now I have to redefine PGH to the other name - and it just loops and loops and never gets past this point. If I choose the second one - it then gives me the option to remove the symbol and redefine the transactions with or without a symbol. No matter which one I choose - it never resumes the rest of the 156 transactions I have to bring in.. actually it doesn't even appear to do what is said it would do becuause when I click NEXT again - it goes right back to the same PGH issue. I can't do anything with the remainder of all of the transcations ready to import ... it won't let me past this conflict. HELP!! How can either resolve this PGH issue appropriately or skip to at least be able to import the rest of my transactions. I am using MS Money 2004 Thanks for any help.     - Downloaded transactions missing My downloaded transactions do not show in my register. I have read the other posts that say to delete temp files and cookies and perform a repair.     - How do Download Money2005 After Crash I purchased the upgrade to Money 2005 in January. I purchased directly from Microsoft. My computer has crashed and I need to resintall the program. So far I can not fing out how re-download my purchased software. I have the receipts, but every phone number I get, just send me to another phone number... so around and around I go. It seems there would be an easy way for me to log back on th Microsoft and re-download what I purchsed. The only problem with online downloads is that you do not have the disk. Any help appreciated.     - Restoring Backups without MSN Passport I need to restore a backup file in Money 2004 Standard edition but it's asking me to signin to MSN Passport account.     - Importation of Address from QIF File I have a client, a small municipality, which imports refund checks into MSMoney 2003 to print the checks and to do reconcilations. The QIF file is produced by a third party product listing the Payee, address, amount needed and so forth. The import works fine. The problem is with the Addresses. When an Address is changed in the Third party software and exported into the QIF file the new address, if the payee is already in Money, does not get updated in Money. Therefore checks are being printed with the wrong address on them and mailed to the wrong address. Is there anyway to get Money to accept the address in the QIF file as the most recent address and over write the address listed currently for the payee?     - Duplicate transactions in Cash Flow I'm noticing some transactions show up twice in my Cash Flow. Particularly, a yearly deduction for Christmas and now a double payment to the vet (also an annual payment). One will not let me delete it and the other allows me to skip.     - budget issues Hello everyone. I do have a problem with M05 budgeting that drives me up the wall. For instance on both January and February the actual income shown in the budget does not match the real amount as listed in my transactions (is always 21% lower). To add insult to injury all the recurring bills are also being shown 21% lower than the amount they been set up at. For instance the college fund for my kid is a monthly preauthorized FIXED payment of say $125. The advanced budget insists in showing it at $103. What is happening here? Thanks in advance Cheers!     - Balancing previous statements -- help? Just got Money 2005, and have entered complete account activity for 2004. I'm trying to balance the accounts now -- but get the message "Money has calculated a different opening balance than the one you entered", and can't go any farther. I began with the January statement's opening balance, and the ending balance of each month in Money matches each month's bank statement, so I know the figures are right. I have a mixture of E's, C's, and R's in the "Reconciled" column. I get this error message whether I try balancing January 1-31, or any other month.     - Ameritrade/MSM2005 daytrader's nightmare I downloaded my trades from ameritrade to 2005MSM and had the correct amt of money in my cash account. However, MSM showed all of these positions I had that I don't have. Turns out that if you buy/sell on the same day, MSM doesn't look at the time of day you bought or sold. So if it happens to enter the "sell" first, msmoney does a "add shares" correction so you have shares to sell.     - budget and reports I am using Money 2005 Deluxe and am having a tough time getting it to do something. I want to be able to track actual versus a budget (get a report -- monthly, yearly) for selected income and expense categories. I have an investment property that i want to be able to track actuals versus budget. I would also like to be able to have a budget for personal expenses. I don't seem to be able to get an actual versus budget report for certain categories or classification 1 (which i am using for this property) without including all of my other budget items (including the personal budget items that money automatically drops into the budget from the bill payer).     - Synchronizing Money2005 with PocketPC I have Money 2005 installed on my desktop computer. I downloaded and installed the money 2005 for the pocket pc program and tried to use it. The first time activesync ran, it loaded all my account information to the pocket pc. When I take the pocket pc out of the cradle and input some transactions then put it back in the cradle, it will not syncronize the information with the desktop. If I put the information in the desktop and try to sync, it won't work either. If I go into activesync and tell it to delete all transactions from the pocket pc and then resync, it locks up activesync. I had Money 2002 on both systems and it worked fine until I had a problem with my pocket pc and had to hard reset it. I couldn't find the money 2002 program for the pocket pc anywhere, so I upgraded to 2005. Nothing worked correctly at first, so I uninstalled everything (desktop and ppc), rebooted, installed 2005, and now I have these problems. I have activesync 3.7.1 (3.8 gave me all kinds of problems and that is why I lost the 2002 stuff) and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling 2005 on both the desktop and ppc several times.     - Off Topic: Financial Institutions OFX Servers I thought this might be an appropriate place to throw out this question even though it's not directly related to MS Money since I've found some of the long time posters here to be very knowledgeable about electronic transactions with financial institutions. I am interested in writing software that acts as an OFX client to financial institutions, much like Money and Quicken. After reading the OFX specification it appears any software that conforms to the specification should be able to talk to an institution's public OFX servers. Is that a correct assumption, or are the servers configured to reject requests unless they are coming from Money, Quicken, etc. If so OFX would not appear to be an "open" standard.     - delete 2002 after upgrade to 2005 I had been using 2002 and decided to upgrade to 2005 several months ago. I purchased the upgrade online. My hard drive is only 4G and I'm trying to free up space. I see in my add/remove programs list that 2002 is 311MB, 2002 service pack is 5.98MB, and 2005 is 75.05MB.     - Budgeting for your Mortgage Payments I am using Money 2004. I used to track my Mortgage as just a Bill that I paid like any other. Now I've started actually managing my Mortgage by creating a Mortgage account. I'm all set up with making payments to my Mortgage account with paying Principle, Loa Interest, and Escrow. Here's how I pay my Mortgage: 1.) go to the Account List and click on my Mortgage. 2.) click on "New" on the Loan Payment section @ the bottom 3.) choose the "Make a regular loan payment" option 4.) In the "Edit Transaction" window the appears, I split the transaction & entering in all of the dollar values for each category. The 3 categories I end up using are: a.) Principle Transfer: Mortgage b.) Loan: Mortgage Interest c.) Transfer to Escrow Account What I can't seem to figure out is how to include my Budget in my Mortgage. I *can* include the Loan Interest & the Escrow, since that's just a Loan Category & an account Transfer. I can't seem find the "Principle Transfer" category when Budgetting my Expenses. Should I be trying to budget each individual portion of the Mortgage payment? or just the entire amount? In my Checking Account Ledger, I see "Loan Payment : Mortgage" listed as the Category...but I can't find that in my Category list either. "Loan Payment" is a reserved title in Money, so I can't create it either. should I change the category of the transaction in my Checking Account ledger to something like "Bill: Mortgage Payment" ?     - "No Interest, same as cash" debt planner question in Money 2004 In the debt planner there is a way to set the interest to a promotional rate that ends at the specific period. However, I do not see a way to force it to handle the promotional periods that many stores use which accrue interest in a lump sum at the end of the promotional period if it is unpaid. Is there a way to tell the optimizer in the debt planner this information? In the help it says to just plan on paying the entire amount off just prior to this interest period begins, and then gives a little blurb about treating it like every other promotional interest card payment if it isn't possible to do so. I have attempted to do this and the optimizer ends up going just past the promotional end date and thus unknowingly violates the assumptions it is using. If you are unfamiliar with this form of credit plan, here is a short explanation. Many stores will offer you a plan that for a specific time period, such as 2 years, you will pay no interest as long as you pay it off by the end of that time. If you do not pay the full amount in the time period, depending on the specific wording of the plan, you might have the following occur: 1) No penalty other than accrueing finance charges for the remaining amount at the end of the period as if it were a normal bank card. 2) "Penalty" assessed equal to interest for original amount during the promotional period added as a lump sum. 3) "Penalty" assessed equal to interest for the monthly amount during the promotional period added as a lump sum. As you can see in all cases but the first, this drastically changes the payment plan relative to all accounts. I've attempted to do this in excel with the solver in optimize mode, and for simple cases it shows there is a benefit to actually modelling it, however with a complicated case the solver just dies. The debt planner seems to have a good enough optimizer in it that it should be able to handle this case, if someone can just tell me how to give it the information.     - Advanced budget problem - please help I am trying to use the advanced budget. I enter all of my expenses and Money automatically enters some my apay bills. Everything on the expenses form looks fine. However, when I go to the budget summary page, it doubles the budget amount for two of the apay bills. I cannot figure out how to change this amount or why it is doing this. When I click on edit transactions, one of the problem categories shows the bill twice, while the other shows it only once (but the total is twice the amount). FWIW - the essential budget appears to work fine, but doesn't allow me to use the sub-categories. So I would like to get the advanced budget working if possible. I got it home, installed it and realized that one of my favorite old features was not included in Standard. Anyhow a message popped up after a while asking if I would like to upgrade, I did - I plugged in my .net password, credit card and address info and finally got a download page. I downloaded a file that was named webinst.exe - installed it (it asked me to remove Money first) and now when I start up the program it tells me its the Trial Edition .... what went wrong?     - Auto reconcile problem As soon as I download transactions from any of my online accounts, all of them are marked as reconciled, even before I accept them. (I do not have "Automatically accept all downloaded transactions from banking statements" or "Automatically mark accepted transactions as reconciled" chacked.)     - M03 help not available x-no-archive: yes Whenever I try to access a help topic in M03 Deluxe, I get a message saying "Unable to load topic. Click here to try again." (Of course, clicking doesn't do a thing.) This happens even when I have the Money CD in the drive. There's nothing in the "Tools>Options" menu about help. I don't need help often, but it's nice to have it when I do need it. Has the help file been lost or corrupted?     - Money 2004 crashes on download! I have been using Money 2004 with online services for over a year now, and this morning it started crashing when it would do its latest download. I have daily backups, so I went back a couple of days and restored a presumably known good backup, and same thing happens when it does its account download. I reboot the system to be sure everything was clean. Now it is able to download fine if I process updates again, here is the problem - from the crashed event, I have about 12 transactions that it says I have to check, but they do not show up for example in my checking account register and credit card account! I do a standard repair, and it does not find anything. The settings on whether or not to download seem to be tied to the file, as I go in and turn off all download, then come back in and restore the old backup, and it fires off a download and crashes right away. I need to be able to figure out how to get the download from crashing Money 2004, or how to recover the transactions that it thinks it has downloaded (and I know are real) but that do not show up in account registers. I thought maybe I could delete those download accounts' online functionality and re-add it, and it will let me re-download all the transactions. Is that right? I thought doing that may not let me re-establish download capability without calling my bank or something. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.     - Alerts I have Money 2004. A couple of months ago, I put in some alerts for stock prices. As those prices changed, I changed the alerts to a different price. I would like to display in my P&L Stmt a "Potential Rent Income" line (maybe
created from an invoice and then underneat an "Actual Rent Income" line that
I assume would pay partial or full invoice amt. Has anyone out there been
successful?
