    - Unsolicited Bank of America credit card Has anyone received an unsolicited credit card from Bank of America? I am trying to locate other individuals who, like me, have received unsolicited credit cards from Bank of America; that is, people who have actually had accounts opened in their name without their authorization. I recently received a solicitation to apply for a credit card and, although I ignored the solicitation, I later received a credit card in the mail. I have since confirmed that a Visa account has been opened without my authorization and that the account already appears on my credit report with the 3 credit reporting agencies. To be clear, I gave no authorization (written or verbal) to the bank to open this account. It is not a renewal card -- I have no credit card accounts with this bank. It appears that this is a violation of the Truth-In-Lending Act -- "No credit card shall be issued except in response to a request or application therefor. This prohibition does not apply to the issuance of a credit card in renewal of, or in substitution for, an accepted credit card."     - Credit card due dates Is it possible to view due dates with money 05? My accounts are set up for online updating. It downloads the recent transactions, but it doesn't seem to show due dates for payments. Also, is there any way to set up a credit card with bank of america?     - Credit card payment due dates? Is there any way that money 05 can track the due dates of my credit cards? I have the accounts added to money and the online banking set up with automatic updates. It downloads new transactions fine, but it doesn't seem to make any mention of when my next payment is due. I can't set up payments because the due date changes every month. Also on a side issue, anyone know how to add a bank of america credit card?     - Possible to clear autocomplete cache? I'm wondering if it's possible to clear out the contents of the autocomplete cache. After several years of MS Money updates, there's a good amount of old junk in there. I'd like to start fresh. I assume the cache is kept in the Money file itself?     - Split Transaction Annoyance I *think* this is new in MSM2006, but am not sure. When entering a split transaction, once the split categories and amounts are entered, you click "Done" if it all adds up to the total amount of the transaction. No problem. If the splits don't add up, you're given popup choices to fix it. Fine. So, by opting for "Done," you've told Money you're finished with entering the split information and that it's correct. This takes you back to the main transaction page, which now has "Accept" bolded for action. However, if you press "Accept," you lose all the information you've entered under the splits! You must first press the unbolded "Enter" and then "Accept." While it's not at all difficult to press the extra button, since there is no warning pop up about it or bolded text, I often forget and press "Accept." I then have to go back and re-enter often very long lists of data. Is there some place to set an option to be warned about this? Or someplace to set Money to enter this information automatically when pressing "Done" on the split field?     - Category spending report duplication, etc. MONEY 2005 STANDARD EDITION: I entered my category info in my checking account register, then when looked in reports several showed up as unassigned.... so I assigned them categories AGAIN... and then they appear as duplicates in the intended category. It seems they are originally in BOTH categories... unassigned and the intended. I used an older version of Money for years and loved it... this one is too complicated for me!! Thanks.     - Estimate Payment based upon X# of past transactions???? I was looking at my cash flow in MS Money 2006 and noticed that the credit card I use for day to day purchases has an ever increasing balance. This is incorrect becaue I pay it off every couple of weeks. In an attempt to fix this, I created a recurring transaction to transfer from checking to credit card. This is fine, except the balance varies from week to week. For the transaction I selected "Estimate based up last 6 payments" When I go back into my upcoming bills it shows this upcoming transaction as ~$0.00 If I set the transaction amount to a fixed dollar number, the cashflow graph looks right. I would rather have an estimated amount that can vary based upon my spending habits without having to manually change it. It seems it should have calculated this # based upon the last 6 credit card payments. Rather than put a fixed amount, how can I make MS Money 2006 use the estimate like I want?     - Assigning category downloaded IRA distribution Money Delux 2006. IRA quarterly mandatory distributions are downloaded from my mutual fund. It is recorded as a sale.     - Creating New Reports Hello- What ways are there to create new reports in Outlook? If there isn't a way, then is there a general report that gives you full range to customize? I'd like to see some reports that MS Money 2004 Premium doesn't seem to have. For example, I'd like to see the average monthly spend for certain categories over the course of a year, this for more accurate future budgeting.     - Money04 vs. MSN Billpay I've been using MSN Billpay/Checkfree with Microsoft Money for many years, but have recently noticed a problem: When I enter a bill and set it to pay on a certain date (not a weekend), it initially shows in the register as the date that I set. Then, when I run "Internet Updates" the date backs up four days. I can go online to billpay.msn.com and see that the date is what I originally set it to and I can see in my bank statement that the payment withdrawn on the date I originally set (or later). It seems like Money 2004 is adding an arbitrary four day pad. Is this a known issue? Is there any way to fix this. I don't think it did this until recently.     - Closed Acct. transactions appearing in Reports Using MS money 2006. I have checking acct. with a local bank. My mother-in-lawâ??s (MiL) Checking and Savings accounts are at the same bank and 'linked' to my checking account so we can easily transfer funds between accounts using the banks own Online Banking web site. One problem is, when I create an account in Money for my own Checking acct. and run the initial Online Update, Money is detecting my MiL's linked Checking and Savings accounts as well. Money doesn't seem to give me any choice about downloading them... it creates its own accounts for these two linked accounts whether I want to include and track these accounts in Money or not. I do not need nor want her accounts to appear in Money, I only want my checking account managed in Money. I eventually learned I can â??Closeâ?? these two accounts in Money so they are at least hidden and not seen in my Account List. However, they cannot be â??Deletedâ??â?¦, if you try to delete just ONE of the accounts downloaded by Money from this bank, Money warns that ALL the accounts at that bank will be deleted from Money. Money states to remove these accounts from the Account List without deleting the other accounts, I must select â??Closeâ?? account instead, which I did and all seemed well and good for a couple months now. However, I just discovered a problem. When I click the â??Reportsâ?? button then select either â??Spending by Categoryâ?? or â??Spending by Payeeâ??, Money displays a hyper-linked message at the top of the report, â??You have xx transactions, totally $xx, that you donâ??t have assigned to categories.â?? When I click it to see the transactions, they are transactions that belong to my MiL checking account, which I have flagged as CLOSED in MS Money. These transactions are screwing up my Reports. Any idea why they are showing and if there is something I can do to tell Money to IGNORE these other two accounts? Thanks folks, I greatly appreciate any advice.     - How do I restore a backup file?! I am trying to load my file from system to another. On computer A in Money, I backed up the file so it's mymoney.mbf. I installed Money 2005 (same version as on computer A), started Money. Restore mmoney.mbf off my thumbdrive. Next screen - Name the restored file - I browse the path to My Documents and call it mymoney.mbf (I have also tried various names here). Next screen it says to sign in to Money - I enter my password and click sign in. it tries something and then comes back with the error --------------------------------------- Money cannot locate c:\mymoney (shortend path here) or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read-only file or you do not have permission to change it or your disk drive is write protected. If you have chosen the correct file and it cannot be accessed, you will need to click OK and open your most recent backup file. If the file is being used by another application, close it in the other application and click OK to try again. --------------------------------------- No duh it cant locate it, its supposed to be restoring my backup to this NEW file. Click OK to open your most reent backup file? Thats what I am trying to do! Any help? BTW - I tried just opening the file mymoney.mny and it wants to convert it to use with this version of money - whats the deal - its the same version! Then I get the errors as above.     - Envelop Budgeting in Money Money budgeting systems is not very good. I need a envelope system to help me plan allocate for those 1 time or 2 time a year expenses I have several. Like hiding money from myself with out effecting my check register. Either in a budget table or allocation account. Does anybody have a method of doing this that works. I have experimented with UNDATED transaction in checking account to hide money from the bottom line. These transaction do not show up in the cashflow.     - more than one view at a time? I would like to trace transactions down the process. Can I get more than one account to view at the same time. Like xcel and word can be seen simultaneously? I run MS Money2006 small business. I'm trying to untangle the 2 mortgage payments from one check issue and I've got the cash transfer accounts set up but when I do a practice payment the mortgage accounts don't update with the information.     - Changing mortgage payment frequency I want to change my mortgage payments from monthly to every other week. I can see how that is changed in Pay Bills, but when I go through those screens, there are caluclated fields that don't allow that change. I understand why because my amortization schedule would be changed. So I went to the Mortgage Account and went to the change terms screens. But there was no option for changing the date or frequency of mortgage payment. Any suggestion? I hope I'm not required to start a new mortgage account to make this change.     - Major Short Squeeze Likely / FDA Drug Approval Major Short Squeeze Likely / FDA Drug Approval There was a short attack on AVNR based on a report by a less than reputable publication. It opposed the analysis of Avanir's Neurodex drug up for FDA priority review & approval by Oct. 30th at the latest. If approved, it will have orphan status giving it a virtual monopoly on the market. The drug, with all indications approved could become a multi-billion dollar drug. Avanir just aquired Alamo Pharmaceuticals in a very slick deal which gives them access to a professional, fully train in-house pharmaceutical sales force and adds yet another FDA approved drug under their belt in addition to Abreva treatment for herpes sores. In addition, AVNR still has a fully human monoclonal antibody subsidiary which they claim is better than all others. They have stated they will concentrate on the full launch of Xenerex after the FDA decision for Neurodex comes in. They have already discovered an anthrax mAB with near perfect results in animal studies. Many believe that this technology will become the biggest breakthrough in the industry.     - removing money 2006 off your computer I made the error of curiously downloading a free trial of money 2006 on my computer - I have the disc for money 2004. Now that the trial is over, I want to go back to using my 2004 edition (I know I have to re-enter everything) - but it won't let me load the disc - it keeps telling me that I have to uninstall the 2006 version. I thought I had, but it still shows on my software list, though there's no application associated with it!! I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!!     - Money & Yodlee rarely work together It barely works 20% of the time. I have been using Money 2006 since last December and I've had so much problem with the two working together for any length of time. It has been working intermittently for months and I am sure Microsoft is aware of this issue since I am not the only user with this problem. Yet there seems to be no permanent fix in sight.     - Money Updates: "Money encountered an error processing the download file ('SMRTINET.ini'). My M04 has not been doing Money Updates (other parts of update are doing so: quotes, accounts) for a month now. The Call Summary for Money Updates says Money encountered an error processing the download file ('SMTINET.INI'). Out of curiosity I looked for such a file name on the computer--none. We have two accounts on Money. The other account is NOT encountering any such problem--Money Updates are working fine for it. No changes for either account of any seeming relevance preceded the loss of updates on the one account. Questions: (1) Does anyone know how to fix this? (2) These two accounts are presumably both using the same copy of Money. What do the Money Updates update--the (shared) program or something in the individual account files? (3) If Money Updates update the shared program, as the one account seems to be doing it, that the other account is failing shouldn't matter--right?     - Ghost accounts won't stay deleted!!! Hi, I have an MBNA CC, and I've been unsuccesful in connecting to their server. In the process, I have tried twice to delete the account and recreate it.     - Employer contributions to 401(k) Hi, I have set up a separate account for my employer's matching contributions to my 401(k). However, now I have a negative amount account listed under "Bank", which throws of my total. Is there any way to resolve the employee matching contribution without this becoming a problem? I suppose one option would be to add the amount to the gross salary and to the pre-tax contributions. Is that the best way to do that?     - Cannot access Money like I usually can I've used Money for the better part of a year, and my email and password were stored, so that all I had to do was click "sign in". Suddenly and for no apparent reason, when I click on it, I'm told that the signin was unsuccessful. I re-entered my password manually, and it still didn't work. I clicked on "forget password?" and went through that process. My password worked on MSN. Twice, in the middle of a string of repeated unsuccessful signins, I was suddenly in my account. But for the most part, I'm stuck in a loop of attempted signins that are unsuccessful. What do I do? (It's just personal use--not business or deluxe or anything.)     - Reconciled Accounts not Correct MS Money 2006 Deluxe. Windows XP SP2 I have a bill for NML for $49.00 recurring every month. I also have a cingular bill for $50 recurring every month. Nearly every month Money thinks I am reconciling my NML account for my Cingular payment. I update it but it keeps removing my future bill for NML. Is there any way to keep it from guessing my Cingular bill is my NML bill? I always have to go back and change the NML bill to the current month. They have already discovered an anthrax mAB with near perfect results in animal studies. Many believe that this technology will become the biggest breakthrough in the industry. The short attack was unwarranted and left AVNR with a short interest of 7M shares with only 30M shares outstanding of which 47% are insitutionally owned. The short interest reported last month had jumped from 1.6M to 7M in one period meaning the shorts were unable to cover. It appears they have increased the short position since then because of a standard FDA delay. This could all lead to one of the biggest short squeezes that has ever been witnessed by Wall Street. This is why short bashers are in a desperate panic on the message boards trying to scare longs. Load up on AVNR but do it in cash accounts only and continue to price average in if they keep up the short attack.     - Sending reports After customising the settings for Account Transactions, I then wish to send them to a friend via email. I click on Send and then Mail Recipient and it all works fine. However, the amounts are displayed on my screen (within Money) with 2 decimal places, but the amounts on his computer (in Notepad) are shown with 4; ie £20 shows in Money as 20.00 but in Notepad as 20.0000. Hello,
I recently wiped my hard drive and installed vista beta 2, and now I'm
trying to install Money 2005 from the original CD. During installation, I
get about 90% done, and then "fontinst" crashes, and windows closes the money
installer. I can launch money, but right away it says it's missing
components and then shuts down.

I've tried telling windows to run fontinst and money's setup program as
administrator, and i've also told it to run in XP compatibility mode, but it
doesn't help. It seems that others have successfully installed Money 2005 in
Vista (or was it already installed and they just upgraded to Vista?) so I'm
hoping someone's had this problem before and knows how to fix it.

Well, that turned out to be an easy fix. I copied the CD to my hard drive,
marked fontinst as "run as adminstrator" and "xp compatibility" via
properties, and ran setup as adminstrator, and Money installed without an
error.

Vista's help documentation said that checking the "run as administrator"
checkbox via properties only works for files on the HD. Windows didn't
complain when I tried to alter the settings for the files on the CD, but my
guess is that they did not apply when running from the CD.

Problem solved and hopefully this will help anyone else who encounters the
same error.
