I want to install Money Deluxe 2005 over 2003. An
install screen tells me that an older version has been
detected and it wants clearance to delete 2003, however,
it doesn't tell me if it is going to preserve my data and
move that data to the new version, upon deleting the old
version. Please advise. J. Seale

It will leave your data files unmolested. It will upgrade your most recently
used file when you first start M05. It may trash your Tools|Options settings
(M05 preserved relevant ones of mine) for really important things like
things like check printing alignment offsets. You might want to write these
down to be sure.

Always be sure you have a backup and/or copy of your .MNY files in case
something runs amok. Also, it is ALWAYS best to store your data files in a
folder that is NOT the programs folder like Program Files\Microsoft
Money--storing them ANYWHERE in My Documents is best.

I also should have noted that even when it upgrades a back level data file,
it will leave a (renamed) copy of it behind. This will all be explained in
dialog boxes as the process happens.
