I just upgraded my Money 2005 to Money 2006 with the webdownload and forking
over the $67 -$30 rebate

Everything fine and works until it is finished downloading the additonal
files and tells me to restart MSMoney 2006. After I do that, Money starts as
'Money Trial Version'

I "assume" that it is something specific on my installation but the only
thing I can come up with is that I am running **Microsoft** XP64

Anyone else encountered this problem?

I tried to contact Microsoft but it appears a fortress of
please-do-not-contact-us. Anyone knows how to approach them regarding this
appearent BUG in their product?

thanks,

Same problem here on "run of the mill" XP. I tried to find some help from
Micro$oft and I am getting the same run around trying to find support.

If anybody knows the solution PLEASE help.

Did you set a Passport on a file (any Money file will do, the Sample for
one) and login after completing the purchase? That was the drill in M05.
They may have changed it in M06, again.

Folks reading this: get a clue! Buying the CD at the store is MUCH less
hassle fro many people!

BTW, when I say set a Passport--I should have said the Passport you used
when you bought the thing in the first place. Note that if you ever want to
reinstall it on another machine or after reloading/reinstalling your
existing machine, you need to use the same Passport. Even years from now. A
CD, on the other hand, ...

fix in a few minutes.

Same thing happened to me. I had the trial version of 2006 for a day or
so-it did not work well. I uninstalled it and the downloaded version
installed into it's on Money 2006 folder and not over Money 2005. Reinstall
over the Money 2005 and it will be ok.

Same here, as well. I've spent four days wasting time with emails to and from
a bunch of MS jokers who all want to shove the problem off on someone else at
a long-distance toll number or a $35 service charge (and who would probably
be of no more help). What a crock!

I've learned my lesson: no more downloaded apps from Microsoft. Fortunately
it's easier to dispute a MasterCard charge ($67.95+tax) than it is to deal
with Microsoft Customer "Service."

no I had not but after I read about that , it resolved my problem so now I am
wondering what this UPGRADED version is all about. They clearly have not
included a fix for this problem.

So far I noticed they changed the logo from 2005 to 2006 but was it really
worth the $37??

"...have not included a fix for this problem." What problem?

You get another year of support.
