    - House View not availably I want to add a home inventory to my Money 2004 file, in the help file it says to switch to house view, but when I go to the view pull down, house view is not one of the options.     - Mortgage Loan and Asset Account... Hello all, Once again I'm confused. Thanks for everyone's help in the past by the way. First, just let me say that I don't really know what I'm doing but based on what I've read so far, it seems that a mortgage account would make a good asset account. So... Here's the deal, I have successfully setup an account for my mortgage company and when I look at the amortization report it's pretty damn close; off by like 2 cents. I'd say that's close enough. Now when I enter a payment into my checking account to the mortgage company account all of my splits are arranges the way they should be and the Payment, Principal and balance are right on track in the mortgage account. Then what I tried to do (And here is where I'm having trouble) is setup an Asset account that is associated with the mortgage account so that I can show my assets. After I set up an asset account which was linked to my ortgage account I just get a blank register. How do I get the proper entries into my Asset account and how will I know if they're right? By the way, I did read the online help (Which got me no where) and I did browse the FAQ. Am I just spinning my wheels here or am I going too far?     - Reconciling the selling of a Share Option to a bank statement Hi, I have recently excersised some company share options. I entered the transaction in my investment account and later that month when I imported my bank transactions I had one for the money paid out to me. Two questions: 1) How do I link the two transactions. 2) The transaction in my investment account does not include tax where as my bank trasaction has the net amount paid out, how do I reconcile the who figures?     - Question about reports! I customized my Spending By Category report so that it reflects ONLY one of my bank and credit card accounts I have in my MS Money. So now when I go to reports and choose Spending by Category everything works the way I want it to, but when I click on Home - My Money and see the Spending By Category report there, it reflects ALL my accounts for some reason.     - Went Back to Money 2003 After fighting ms money2005 for two weeks and finding it just worthless and frustrating, I uninstalled it and went back to money2003. It took 4 hours to enter my latest data but it was well worth it. I was always a MS fan till now. Bill got my money this time but I will be sure to TRY BEFORE I BUY next time.     - Weird Problems with Investments I am in the process of entering 21 years of Investment history for my IRA. Its not as bad as it sounds, 2 - 6 entries each month. I first entered the transactions from 1994 to current (plus pre-94 investments I still own) and adjusted the opening balance in the Money Market Fund for December 1993 and everything was find. Once I found the box with the 1983 to 1993 statements, I started entering those transactions. All is find until I get to September 19, 1991 where I did a sell of a Money Market Fund to buy some stock in IBP, Inc. for $3000. Although my 8/31/91 report shows over $5100 in the Money Market-Money thinks I have $845 (I got this through trial and error). I believe this is caused from reconciled the 12/31/2004 balance. I am hoping that I can undo the reconcilation. The second problem is more interesting (smiles). As I am entering the dividends, Money has on occassion gone through and taken dividends in two investments and change them from an inflow to an outflow (like I am paying the Corporation). It is not all dividends for those investments, but a good portion of one and a few in the second one. This problem did stop when I reconciled as I discussed above. Lession learned, start with your first statement (or oldest) when you want to enter history.     - Apply Paycheck to next month's budget Hello all, I'm wondering if there is a way to apply income to the following month's budget instead of the month it's received in. For example, I get paid on the 15th and the last day of every month. For reporting sake, I'd like the paycheck received on the last day of the month to be considered income for the next month's budget instead of the current month. In other words, the paycheck received on December 31st should be income for January, not December. I could just change the date on the deposit but in some cases that will result in a negative balance in the transaction register. Is there a way to do this? I'm using Money 2004 Thanks!     - Historical value of accounts Is there an easy way to display the value and holdings of accounts on past historical dates? For example, is there a way to get the Account Summary view of an Investment Account to display the summary for the end of the past year rather than today?     - Additional Principal Pymts for past transaction I set up a mortgage loan account in Money 2005, but has not able to get it to accept additional principal payments paid in the past year. Money would not allow me to add a 'Principal Transfer' line when I set up the account, nor would it change the past payments when I attempted to change the account settings after initial setup.     - Error at Money 2005 start up I'm getting the following windows error everytime I start Money 2005 up: The procedure entry point RtlDuplicateUnicodeString could not be located in the dynamic link library nntdll.dll.     - Scheduled Bills and Deposits - ForeCast - Reports Hello folks. In the screen where I schedule bills and deposits it is possible to see only two months, however, IÂ´d like to see 12 months, no matter if the transactions in there are recurring ones... The same way I tried to print a report like that, basicaly the Scheduled Bills and Deposits and I customized the dates with NEXT 12 MONTHS, but guess what? It showed only tow months again!!!! How can I see my bills and deposits that are scheduled for 2005 in a whole? IÂ´m looking for a report that prints the information shown in the Forecast screen... does it exist?     - M05 downloading Just upgraded from trial to retail version via download (XP is OS) and the core program seems to be working ok. When I sign in, Money tells me that is is going to download in the background additional features, and I can use the core features fine, but there's never any progress in downloading the others (it always says 1% complete).     - Updates are temporarily unavailable I know many are having this problem with Yodlee, and I've asked before with no response. I cannot update 2 of my accounts that use Yodlee today. BUT I am able to occasionally. I've given up spending hours of creating new accounts, clearing Web site, etc etc... as instructed by tech. Now I find that on certain days it does indeed work. Can it be that Yodlee is shutting down? I find this error message listed under Money Sychronization. Both accounts cannot be synchronized.     - Money 2005 - Changes again! I have been using Money since version 1, now 2005. Every time Microsoft releases a new version of Money, features change or disappear. For example, the font used in printing checks reverts back and the now credit limit for credit cards doesn't appear at the bottom of the account register, my settings for the register display were not retained and there's more. What is the deal, Microsoft? What is the point of changing this stuff? Why can't meaningful changes be made, like multi-selecting several bills to pay with one click like Money 2002 (or 2001) had? Why isn't the cash flow shown on the Pay Bills page? I've had it. I am purchasing Quicken at Best Buy and getting on board with the rest of the world.     - Mortgage/Loan account question I have setup my morgtgage in Money 2005 S.B. I went back to my previous payemnt (haven't had it long) transactions in checking and changed the category to split Loan:Principal Payment, and Loan:Mortgage Interest with the correct amounts in each. Now I need to get things fixed in one other spot. If I go to Account List, I have Home under Loans & Liabilities. Looking at my account register, all of the transactions are there. Problem is, when I go into each transaction it is split. the first line in split, is no category, description of payment is Payment, and Amount is the total of my payment. The next line is Loan:Mortgage interest. The third line is Loan: Principal Payment. If I go in to correct these values, Money asks me if "I really want to save this deposit that is categorized as an expense. I may have chosen the wrong category.     - Can't Convert from Money 99 I've been using Money 99 happily for many years. However, I figured it was time to upgrade. So far, big mistake. I have been able to convert one of my smaller files, but on the larger file it always craps out during the conversion with a "Microsoft Money has experienced an internal error..." I have looked online and tried the msmoney -s and the salvage.exe utilities, to no avail. If I don't get this fixed fast, I'm going to go for the 30 day money back garuntee.     - Creating New Account in Money 2005; How to Reinstall Money 2005 I am unable to create a new account in Money 2005 Premium. Whenever I try to download the list of accounts, I am told that the list is currently unavailable and to try again. I have disabled Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security; unfortunately, that also didn't help. It appears that quote download work. Any help would be appreciated. I'd also like to know how to reinstall Money 2005 once the software has been purchased and downloaded through the Microsoft website.     - how to single out mortgage interest by one calender year? I have Money 2003. I am trying to verify my mortgage interest payments. My mortgage company sent me my 2004 mortgage interest statement, but I want to verify that figure with what I have in Money 2003. Is there an easy way to calculate only my 2004 interest? I went to the category section for mortgage interest, but it shows the total of all my mortgage interest that I have made in Money 2003. How do I isolate the mortgage interest payments for only 2004? I can simply add the payments, but I have several categories that I need only the 2004 figure and it will take awhile. Any suggestions? Thanks!     - How to track my saving? Hi, I wonder how i can track my saving in Money 2004 Delexus. I set up some saving goals in my budget, but i don't see how Money provides assistance about how i am doing in fulfilling my saving goals. The feature i am looking for is this, when i have left over money in my budget each money, i want to be able to divide the leftover amount into a couple "virtual accounts", each of which tracks one of my saving goals. Then i want Money to be able to tell me how much i have saved towards each specific goal and how much more i need to save.     - ING Direct... Hello again all, I just signed up for an ING Direct account and I'm using Money 2005 Deluxe. I created a new savings account called ING Direct. It wasn't in the list of accounts (Only the Canadian version). As you may or may not know, ING takes money directly from your Checking account. So, when I selected to change the account settings for the ING savings account that I created, There is a drop down that asks for the Financial Institution. ING Direct isn't in the list.     - Deleting the original budget... Hello all, First, I hope this sounds clear. I'm using M05 and I initially created a budget. I forget how. Then I created a new budget starting in February, 2005 but the old budget for January, 2005 is still there. Is there anyway to delete it without deleting the February budget. I can change the time period from current month to next month but I want to be able to see next months budget as soon as I click the budget menu item. Also, the February budget I saved in My favorite reports starts from the 5th of the month and ends on the 4th of next month. that becuase I only get paid once a month - on the fifth. Any suggestions?     - mysterious discrepancy All of my MS Money entries for my bank match my statements, including the opening balance. *BUT* MS Money cannot balance my account. In the Essentials Register view it shows hundreds of dollars in the adjustments total, but, there are no transactions uner Adjustments. How can I fix this?     - Password Unknown I have a laptop with Money installed and over the years upgraded at least 5 versions to Money 2002. Somewhere along the line, my datafile name changed from myname to My Portfolio When I opened Money 2002 it uses to ask me to enter in my Hotmail password - it already had the hotmail email in the user name box. I enter in the hotmail password and it would tell me that it was the incorrect password, but it would open my data file anyway. At some stage I started tracking my stocks on MSN in the Online Portfiolio feature which was saved on my laptop as a separate file. If I loggen on to MSN and put in my hotmail account, up popped my stock portfolio I think somewhere over the years, Money linked my MSN portfiolio to my Money files with the hotmail account. Three weeks ago the HD on my laptop fried and I got a new one, installed Money 2002 and had a backup of the money data file from a CD When I try to open the file now, it prompts me for a password and my hotmail password is not opening it. If I log on to MSN Money using my hotmail account , it shows my portfiolo. I have tried other passwords that I have used over the years and nothing. 1. Did money change my password when I upgraded to 2002 two years ago. 2. How can I open my file - can MS provide a solutio to this.     - Liability and Loan Accounts... Hello all, I'm using Money Deluxe 2005 and I have created several credit card accounts. When I enter a transaction into my checking account I can select a category to be paid to that specific credit card account and everything transfers to the proper credit card account including the check number written. Now I just created 2 more accounts as liabilities (Not Loans) although they are loans but loans from friends, not banks. The only categories for these loans are Transfer. Whereas, with my credit card accounts I have both transfer and Credit Card Payment options to the specific credit card accounts. But the only category option I have for the Liability account is Transfer. This is a little confusing to me because when I look at the Liability register, the check number doesn't show and the category is Transfer and there seems to be no way to enter the check number that was written to that account. Yes I can see the check number written in my checking account register but not the liability register. How can I change this so that I can record a payment in my checking account register just like I would like making a credit card payment, Number one. And number two, How can I get the check number to show up in the liability account register? I'm not doing a direct online bank transfer to this liability account.     - Money 2005 Buget Hey All, Haveing a problem with a budget I have created that looks after House hold budgets, for one particular account. For some reason it shows special debt in the reports and budget summary. The debt comes from payments made up from a loan account and increase accordingly as the loan is paid off. - No special debt was selected when the budget was set up and dosn't show when expenses are selected. - The payments for the loan come out of a seperate account and that account is not selected under this particular budget. The special debt only goes away when the loan acount is deleted and I can't find any reason why it is linking the loan account to my budget? any ideas?     - Bank Downloads Last week I decided I wanted to start using MONEY to create a budget and to track actual expenses. I started by surfing this Newsgroup to pick up tips etc. I was intrigued by the response to a question posed by Peter J who I think was fed up having to purchase QUICKEN every year and was asking if MONEY was different. The response was that one had to purchase a new version of MONEY every second year in order to have the ability to download transactions from one's financial institution. I thought that was ridiculous waste of money to simply track one's spending habits and shelved my intention of using MONEY. Today with spare time on my hands I tried downloading my monthly transactions from my checking account and also from my visa account. Lo and behold both were available to me when I opened up MONEY 99, yes that's right 1999. Thus I am seeking clarification. Is there a difference between downloading a file from an institution versus using MONEY to import a file? For whatever it's worth MONEY can't seem to access the Internet as it keeps asking me to update INTERNET INFORMATION and although I try, it keeps asking. However it appears to accept a download.     - Budget, Bills & Deposits problem. I have been using money for three or four years now. I have used 2000,2003, and now am on 2005. I have upgraded evertime hopgin that tey would fix the problem with the special category configuration option. First i do not see where there are options for these special transactions. Secondly to be more specific if you use the "paycheck" option to track income everythgin will work fine. But i made the mistake of putting the "paycheck" feature in a deposit that i had recored in teh "bills & deposits" Function. Once you do this it messes up any budgeting that you have ever done in the categories that are included in the "paycheck" function. Such as gross pay, and any taxes. The problem is that when you go to any of the budgets and go to the specific categories that i just references and click to edit the category it gives you a window that askes what you would like to edit the amount or add to it. The problem is you cannot do anyhgin to the amount that is highlighted. It is always there no matter what. I have tried to delete the deposit and even tryied to make a new budget nothgin will get rid of it. All i can figure is that you need to edit the special category for "paycheck". thank for any help.     - Upgrade Pain Just upgraded from Money 2004 to Money 2005 for business. More banks are covered, and this is a good thing. But when I set up the online services (both new and old), new accounts are created and there is no option to match the new account with my existing account. So I'll have to close my existing account and accept the new account. This way, I lost my current register and have to start over again. This is such a pain.     - Bank Balance vs. Adj. Balance? (Money 05) This is the new Money 2005 for Business. I'm somehow confused by the "Bank Balance" vs. "Adj. Balance" One of my accounts is Bank of America Texas. Money can get statement directly from BofA. The "bank balance" is what shown at the bank. But new transaction are not downloaded. The last transaction shown in my Money bank register is about 5-day old. No new transactions are downloaded. Of course, the "bank balance" and the "adj. balance" are different. I'm think about going back to Money 2004. I'll have to download statements from the web, but it is very reliable. Is there any way to fix the above problem.     - Bank Reconciliation report I've finally decided to move from my old MoneyCounts program that wasn't supposed to work after 12/31/1999 (and it did) to Money. Now I'm finding all the neat features of a little mom-and-pop type of program that cost less than $50 are not to be found in a upscale more costly program! 1. No paper reconciliation reports of any kind 2. I find it very difficult to create accounts that make any accounting sense. I'm having to post a lot of transaction to "Miscellaneous Expense," which shouldn't even be an option according to all the accounting I've ever learned. 3. MoneyCounts took about 10 minutes to set up and start going through. I've been working on Money for 2 weeks, and still struggle through what should be simple transactions. 4. MoneyCounts allowed you to append check numbers (100A, 100B, etc.) so that non-check transactions in the program would follor your paper register. Not so in Money -- anything appended to the check number gets sorted in its own way; no transaction number entries are all grouped together, rather than displayed in the order they were entered. 5. "Memorized" transactions in MoneyCounts WERE memorized, not something you had to continually tweak in order to get them in. Thank goodness it's still early in the year!     - Rate of return calculations in Money 2005 Based on my entire group of investment accounts, Money 2005 reports the following: 1. In Portfolio Manager, the "YTD Total Return" shown at the bottom of the screen is 0.9%. 2. In the "Performance by Investment Account" report, customized as a non-sub-totalled, year-to-date report for the same accounts, the "% Rate of Return" is 1.24%.     - Trying to decide between Quicken and Money 2005 I currently use Money 2003 and have been experiencing problems with getting a quick snapshot of finances (budget vs actuals and remaining balance and indicators to let me know how close I am to limit in any budget category). I am contemplating buying Money 05 or Quicken 05, but need more info than web sites provide. My main concerns apart from above are as follows: 1. Need tool to automatically categorize transactions (Money 03 only recognized certain transactions, like grocery store names, but didn't pick up recurring transactions at particular clothing stores, for example). 2. Need capability for tracking of expenses of two parties (Bob and Mary), individually per budget category. 3. Need ability to query finances based on party, budget category, overages and average spending per category. 4. Need an indicator as to when expenses are within predefined percentage of budget amount. (Money 03 had "thermometer bars that measured how close you are to limit for particular category. Does Quicken have this or similar feature. Can you customize it to let you know if, for example you've spent more than 70% of budget category before mid-month?) 4. Need the tool to be customizable to include roll-up summaries for each predefined budget category. This is helpful for the quick snapshot view of finances. Do both products provide this feature? New Pc
Factory condition. Windows Xp Home.Sp2
has Money 2005 installed.

I removed Money from the pc and all entries in the registry. Then I placed
the 2005 Small Biz cd in to run the install . I keep getting Money failed to
load some componets please try again. I have called support and they are of
no help. Re-installed my OS still same problems. I went as far as removing
all virus protection. Please Help very upsetting

PS. I was able to install money 2005 small biz, on another pc, so the disk
is fine
