    - 2006 pull-down windows hangs I recently installed Money 2006 on an IBM Aptiva 2163 running Windows 98 SE. I have had problems with pull-down windows from day 1. Not all - for example, within an account register I can pull down the window for "debit" and "next check number", but many other windows will not open to allow me to select an option for 20 minutes or more. I see the "not responding" when I open the Task Manager, but eventually, 20 minutes or so, the pull-down window will open. Each additional click on a pull-down menu, except for those which are not a problem, results again in a 20 minute delay. I also tried updating my accounts within MSN Money. The message said this could take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. I have a cable connection so it should have been fast, but again this update took a very long time before I cancelled it. Any ideas, I'm out of them. I have done quick and standard repairs, reinstalled Money 2006, all to no avail. Is this a Windows 98 SE problem? -- Julius Tag: Home page Tag: 202513

    - Mismatching of downloads with manual data I suppose there might be "no answer". But just wondering if anyone has an idea why... I manually enter my checks when written (so that the payees are properly recording in my ledger. If I don't money always records the same payee to downloaded checks, the one in the last ledger entry for a numbered check). Then when I download (via qif file), Money (2005) matches the downloads with the manual entries. And I've never seen it err before. However today it decided that the match for a manually entered numbered check (not yet cashed in reality), dated 12/22/05 , was a cash withdrawal, from a teller, made on 12/30/05, for the same amount. I Didn't catch it immediately and accepted the match, and so I had to delete that transaction. Then when I imported the same file, it still did not recognize it properly, but assigned it as an unnumbered check, with a payee matching the most recent one before that for a numbered check. (It always does this payee silliness, which is why I took to manually entering check #s so it wouldn't do so. Any ideas what happened, or should I just chalked it up to the vagaries of qif files?     - [Un]Happy New Year. Using Money'04. Finished half of year end transactions last evening. This morning I can't add anything using "portfolio changes" i.e. reinvest divids, etc. Tried completely uninstalling and reinstall from CD. Tried a second file, and previous backups. Still same results. Upon trying to "add new transaction' the info box ALWAYS comes up "Edit Transaction" referring to a previous one. This is true for any stock, bond, MF, etc. No error messages.     - Here again, Gone again Recently upgraded to 2006 Deluxe. Have doing the upgrade each year for a number of years. One of the 'features' I like is when viewing upcoming bills on the Bills Summary screen you can highlight <ctrl-select> what bills you want to pay and see a running balance at the bottom of the screen. This was there in 2003, gone in 2004 (everyone complained), back again in 2005 and now seems to be gone again in 2006. Am I missing something or is it time to start complaining again???     - Newbie problem with amortization calculations Hello, I've just today installed Money 2006 Deluxe trial version; a full version is on the way, which I am beginning to regret. I've only gotten as far as downloading my checking account from my bank and TRYING to establish an account for my mortgage. I have entered the information five times now, but the mortgage amortization Money calculates simply will NOT match my bank's. It starts off being off by a few pennies at best, and escalates by the end of the amortization to being off by anywhere from a few dollars to fifty or more. Money also will not allow me to make the mortgage come out to 360 payments. I can make it 359 payments... or 358 payments... but not 360. Is this just the way it is? Am I doing something wrong?     - Money Small Business 2004: Category does not show up in P&L Report I use Microsoft Money Small Business 2004. I have created new sub-category Frenchise Tax under Business Taxes with supplying all requested information. like inclusion in Schedule C , type of Expence (Business ) I have assigned this category (Business Taxes : Franchise Tax ) to a transaction entry in my register. I run the reports->Business -> Profit and Loss statement, This entry does not show up in the report. However , when i assign this to other previously existed category like Federal Taxes , it does show up in report. Also, When I look up in category Screen, the trasaction indeed shows up here under "Business Taxes : Franchise Tax". Can you explain it why? Newly created category is supplied with appropriate Schedule C information. I looked up the settings in category screen for both "Frenchise Tax" & "Federal Taxes " , they are all same..     - How to open Money 98 file with Money 06? ok, ok, ok...it seemed so easy, but has me stumped at the moment. I built a new computer for my parents for christmas, and was trying to transfer all the files that they use over to the new one. I am opening them in the new programs, and making sure they save in the new format, so there will be no future problems. Everything has gone well, until I got to MS Money. The file from their old computer is for Money 98, and I installed Money 2006 on the new computer. I have tried opening the file, its backup, restoring from a backup, etc, without luck. In some cases I receive an error message, saying to send an error report, if I am restoring from Money 98 or 99, and to follow the links...the link is broken, and I am told 'there is no additional info available on this topic'!?! When trying to restore from a backup, it says that it cannot open it, because it's a read-only file, or I do not have permission to open it. Or, that it may be open with another application. OR, that I need to restore the file from a backup (even though that's what I'm doing!) Are there any other options for opening this file on the new computer/with Money 2006?     - How to input "Keep the Change" transactions with Bank of America I just signed up for the BofA "Keep the Change" program and need to figure out the easiest way to set this up in MS Money 2006 Deluxe. This program rounds up my debit card transactions to the nearest dollar and puts the difference in my savings account. They match 100% for the first 3 months, and then 5% thereafter So...how do I do this? My first thoughts are... 1. Create the Savings Account in MS Money--Doh! :) 2. When entering the transaction, I enter it as a SPLIT..for example.. A purchase of 99.01 at WalMart for FOOD would be split as: Food: $99.01 Transfer : BofA Savings $0.99 Any other suggestions?     - Ctrl+M Shortcut Using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+M to mark a transaction as cleared works properly in Money 2006 Deluxe for several instances, then it fails: the Ctrl+M key combination then does nothing.     - MS Money 2006 I have several issues with online. I set up a couple accounts that were in the list for online setup. They dont work even with the correct passwords, I get the MS Money couldnt recieve info from the bank, yada yada yada. I have tried setting up the accounts many times. I have also set up my checking to update, which it does, but not all the time. I tried yesterday, and today, and it wont update, but sometimes I get on and it says it updated on a certain date, even when I wasnt logged on. This is frustrating, and MS Money help site sucks.     - Wrong transfers showing up in report I am using Money 2004 Small Business on a Windows XP Pro system. I have rental property and have setup two top level categories in Money to track the income and expenses (with several sub-categories to break out rent, taxes, insurance, etc.). I ran an Income/Expense report and just selected those two categories and also selected the "Include Transfers" option to account for the amount I am paying down the loans by. The problem is that it pulls in transfers to several other loan accounts that have nothing to do with this property. Why is it pulling them in and how do I get them out?     - Online problems after re-install... Hello, I am having major issues after I had to re-load the OS on my PC. Problems: 1. Can't merge duplicate accounts. 2. Can no longer get online updates. Notes & Things I have tried. 1. I had all my Money data from an MS Backup. 2. I have tried restoring backup as well as using my original file. 3.     - MNY 06: Can't delete one account without deleting all I've just upgraded from Money 2004 to Money 2006 on my laptop computer. Although I have online access to 6 accounts at my bank, I just want to manage two of these accounts on this computer. However, when I opened Money 2006 and connected to my bank, it downloaded all 6 accounts. I thought I could delete the 4 accounts that I do not want to manage on this PC, but Money informed me that deleting one account would result in ALL SIX accounts being deleted. Is there any way that I can delete just the 4 accounts and keep online access to the two accounts I want to manage on this computer? I had no trouble doing this with Money 2004.     - msn billpay no longer works from within mny05 i can no longer pay with msn billpay from within money2005. it was working fine the day before yesterday. when i go to manage online services it says for msn billpay "set up online services" and no longer shows the accounts i use for billpay. when i click on set up it just takes me to the billpay website and asks for my login. also my billpay accounts no longer show up on moneycentral. money05 has been funky of late and online updates very rarely work. i have had to resetup the online updates several times in the last month. the update settings just disapper. does anyone know whatssup? if this keeps up i'm going to dump money05 and just do it on my CU website.     - Can't Restore a Password Protected File I have never used a Passport but the Money File is password protected. I've never been able to restore a backup because it wants to use my Passport but the Passport is NOT associated with the Money File (so when I do try to use the Passport, it tells me it isn't associated...duh).     - Budget doesn't calculate correctly Iâ??m using Money 2006, and am having problems with the budgetâ??s calculations. I have set up all the bills and deposits that I have. We get 2 paychecks, roughly $500 and $1300 each, every other week. I have each deposit and bill set to add it into a category in the budget when it is entered into the registry. When I set the budget up, everything looks correct. It says monthly income is roughly $3900. Expenses around $2000. When I hit finish, and look at my budget, it says that income for the month is budgeted at just under $13,000! And Expenses are just under $4000. It is counting ~12 $500 paychecks, and ~5 $1300 paychecks. This month has 3 $500 checks and 2 $1300. All the expenses are doubled, except one which is 5 times as much as the bill says.     - Invalid Pathname when upgrading I downloaded an upgrade from Money 2004 to 2005 a while back (I'll never do that again). I recently had to wipe my hard drive clean and start over by reinstalling Windows XP Professional. The only version of Money that I had on CD to reinstall was Money 2004. I thought I could just install the old 2004 version and restore from the back up file that I created from Money 2005. It told me that the password for that file was incorrect. I know my password! I have never changed it. I recently downloaded the trial version of 2005 so that I could get my file restored and that worked great!!! The only problem is that the trial version is going to run out on me. So I just bought 2006 and when I try to restore it I am getting an invalid pathname error.     - Problems with recurring bill/deposit paid earlier I have a recurring deposit set up each month for 14th. Now that this deposit actually arrived at December 29th instead of next year's Jan 14th, I've entered the next occurence (scheduled at Jan 14) into the register, using Dec 29 date. Everything is fine, BUT the budget for the Jan does not take this into account.     - Money 2006 and Money for PPC I am a long term user of Microsoft Money and Money for PPC. I recently upgraded to Money 2006 and subsequently upgraded my money for ppc to 2006. From then on my money for ppc doesn's seem to synchronize with the desktop money. Whenever i try to synchronize by clicking the check box beside Microsoft Money in the options dialog box of Active sync I get the message "Attention required". When I disconnect and re-connect, the money option is removed automatically by active sync and only the other catagories sync. One website adviced me to repair my money file and I did but without any effect. I have installed money for ppc in main memory and not in the storage card. I have Windows mobile 2003 SE running on my i-mate Jam and ActiveSync 3.8 on my Windows XP desktop with Money 2006 Deluxe.     - Budget and Mortgage - MS Money 2006 Deluxe My Mortgage payment does show up under the Debt section in my budget. My Mortgage payment category is Loan Payment: House Loan in my checking account from which I pay my mortgage. So far so good. However when I run the budget - spending report. The Budget column does not show the budget amount for the Mortgage. The Actual column does under the Debt Category does. It thus looks like I spent more, when this item is actually budgeted.     - How do I just track "cash" funds? I want to use for a single, simple purpose, but I can't figure out how to. I am currently using a spreadsheet to subdivide my income into "cash" funds within my checking/savings account; categories such as giving; housing; utilities; insurance; auto repairs; new auto savings; education; etc. When I deposit a paycheck, I subdivide it into these 18 or 20 funds. Then, when I pay a bill, I subtract the amount from the appropriate fund, always keeping a positive cash balance. I can go on forever doing this by spreadsheet, but it is really a database function, and I'd rather do it in a database program (which I assume Money is). Is there any way to get Money to do this simple task? I don't want to pay bills from Money; I don't want to track a stock portfolio or net worth. I just want to manage my money while paying bills the old-fashioned way.     - Microsoft Money file will not load upon reinstallation to new computer I'm working with Microsoft Money 2004 Standard. I'm transferring my money file to a new computer. It works just fine on the old one, but when I try loading the file on my new laptop the program always stalls. Balances and investment information will load up, but the budget section remains at "Loading...". I've tried transferring the files two different ways (on a memory key and via email) but the result is the same, so file corruption is not an issue. I'm running MNY 06 SB on an XP machine. I've set my home page to show
revenues for the month, money 06 sb always shows $0.00 but when i click on
it, it will take me to the profit and loss statement which has the current
revenues. I'm wondering why it will not show on the home page.
