 - Money Password I just upgraded the 2004 trial version to full blown 2004 deluxe. I had disabled online passport feature password to just the filename password from my old Quicken 2003 file. After upgrade the online passport feature is re- enabled on the file and I 1. cannot login with my passport login, and after "Skip Sign-In" I type my file password to get in. I go to Password Manager t o disable it but it tells me it cannot because there is a problem with my intenet connection. I was using all features before upgrade, and as well no problems with cable modem internet connection or manual passport login outside of Money 2004. I have tested connection, and constantly tried to re-boot, and retry the Password Manager with no luck...I always have to bypass sign-in, and the email address associated w/passport sign-in doesn't work.  - income producing property; term loan 1)when i purchase an income producing property i find no category for the invetment, so i record it as Asset. When i receive rent income from this investment i find no option to record this income. 2)When i make a term loan, say 10,000 for 3 years at 9% P/A., i can not corolate between the check written for the 10,000 and the Wizard set up of the loan. 3)i have more accounts than can appear in one vertical line. Does this headline look familiar? Of course it does. You most likely have just seen this story recently featured on a major nightly news program (USA) 20/20 & Oprah. His mother was cleaning and putting laundry away when she came across a large brown paper bag that was suspiciously buried beneath some clothes and a skateboard in the back of the 15-year-old son's closet. Nothing could have prepared her for the shock she got when she opened the bag and found it was full of cash. Five-dollar bills, twenties, fifties and hundreds, all neatly rubber-banded and labeled piles. "My first thought was that he had robbed a bank," says the 41-year-old woman. "There was over $71,000 in that bag - that's more than my husband earns in a year." The woman immediately called her husband at the car dealership where he worked to tell him what she had discovered. He came home right away and they drove together to the boy's school and picked him up. Little did they suspect that where the money came from was more shocking than actually finding it in the closet. As it turns out, the boy had been sending out, via e-mail, a type of "report" to e-mail addresses that he obtained off the Internet. Every day after school for the past 2 months, he had been doing this right on his computer in his bedroom. "I just got the e-mail one day and I figured what the heck, I put my name on it like the instructions said and I started sending it out," says the clever 15-year-old. The e-mail letter listed 5 addresses and contained instructions to send one $5 bill to each person on the list, then delete the address at the top and move the other addresses down, and finally to add your name to the top of the list. The letter goes on to state that you would receive several thousand dollars in five-dollar bills within 2 weeks if you sent out the letter with your name at the top of the 5-addressee list. "I get junk e-mail all the time- and really did not think it was going to work." the boy continues. Within the first few days of sending out the e-mail- the post office box that his parents had gotten him for his video-game magazine subscriptions began to fill up with not magazines, but envelopes containing $5 bills. "About a week later I rode my bike down to the post office and my box had one magazine and about 300 envelopes stuffed in it. There was also a yellow slip that said I had to go up to the post office counter. So thought I was in trouble or something (laughs)." He goes on- "I went up to the counter and they had a whole box of more mail for me. I had to ride back home and empty out my backpack because I could not carry it all. " Over the next few weeks, the boy continued sending out the e-mail. "The money just kept coming in and I just kept sorting it and stashing it in the closet, I barely had time for my homework." He had also been riding his bike to several of the banks in his area and exchanging the $5 bills for twenties, fifties, and hundreds. "I didn't want the banks to get suspicious, so I kept riding to different banks with like five thousand at a time in my backpack. I would usually tell the lady at the bank counter that my dad had sent me in to exchange the money and he was outside waiting for me. One time the lady gave me a really strange look and told me that she would not be able to do it for me and my dad would have to come in and do it, but I just rode to the next bank down the street (laughs)." Surprisingly, the boy did not have any reason to be afraid. The reporting news team examined and investigated the so-called "chain letter" the boy was sending out and found that it was not a chain letter at all. In fact, it was completely legal according to US Postal and Lottery Laws, Title 18, Sections 1302 and 1341, or Title 18, Section 3005 in the US code, also in the code of federal regulations.  - Cash Flow No Go Hi, Thanks for taking time to review my question. I'm using (just installed for the first time) MS Money 2004 Premium. 1. I setup all of my reoccurring bills and deposits from my employer as well. 2. I created a budget that balances out fine according to my income and outgo, yet Cash Flow shows that the sum of flow will gradually go farther and farther into the red every month. How can this be, especially when I have enough left over to save every month. Or, is it that the Cash Flow is independant, and I have to tell it that everything is going to be alright? Again, I've already setup reoccuring deposits from my employer for my salary. Thanks for your time and I apologize if this is a stupid question. I'm still a newbie.  - India and INR missing Hi, I bought a Compaq machine with pre-loaded Windows XP Home edition. I stay in India. I was suprised to see that Windows XP Home edition does not show me India as a Country and Indian Rupees (INR) as a currency. I added INR as a currency in the currency table but could not add India as a country. Following are my queries: 1. Why are only few countries and currencies listed? 2.  - How Money calculate Starting Balance Symptom: Receive the message "Money has calculated a different starting balance than the one you entered" Within the "Balance the account" function of Money, 'Starting balance' = 'opening balance of the account' + 'total of the reconciled transactions of the account'. 'Starting balance' does not always equal to the account balance at the balance date. To calculate the Starting Balance, let's perform the following: 1. Go to Account List. Right click the account name and select See Account Details. Record the Opening Balance (Num 1). 2. Then, go to the account. Are the transactions marked as "R" (reconciled)? If so, add all the reconciled transactions' amount. Record the sum (Num 2). 3. Then, the Starting Balance is equal to Num 1 adds Num 2.  - Payee & Memo Reversed on Downloaded QIF Hello, My credit union allows me to download my statements as QIF files. However, when I import these into Microsoft Money they are a total mess. The Payee line is always generic, such as "Deposit/Payment" or "ATM/CK Card Withdraw". When I begin to correct these entries, Money tries to fix it for all of the similar supposed payees, which is highly annoying as I can end up with dozens of transactions that it automatically guesses to be the wrong payee. The thing that really upsets me though is that the Credit Union also provides true payee information such as "Wal-Mart Super Center" or "Home Depot", etc. Or, they'll place the street address of the ATM machine that I used for cash withdraws. However, this information is not where it belongs. The credit union is filling in payee names in the Memo field. What good is it in the memo field? I want it in the Payee field so that Microsoft Money will stop treating all of my deposits as though they were the same payee and all the debits as the same payee and all the checks as the same payee and so on. Surely there must be some way to reverse the Memo and Payee fields from a downloaded QIF before Money fills it into the register. Does anybody know how to do this?!  - Money 2003 Budget #s don't add up Created a cash account and a checking account in Money 2003. Created a scheduled deposit transaction for the cas account and two for the checking account. Entered these transactions into the respective accounts for the current month of november. Then created a budget. It included these deposits and some of the expenses. When "reviewing" current budget status for the current month, some transactions are not shown in the budgeted column. For example, the budget was created with 3 monthly scheduled catagorized deposits, 1 into the cash account and 2 in the checking. Each account currently has 1 of these entries in it. The cash accnt entry is lised under "Budgeted" for the current month but not the checking accnt deposits. Both accnts are checked for inclusion of budgeting. The "actual" column shows all 3 deposits from both accounts. Most of the expenses are shown but a few (e.g. rent) are now shown in budgeted column. Why are their transactions/items not showing up in the budget report? Here is another twist, view of "next month" shows a budget of twice the normal month's deposited income ???  - Money 2004 SB, email invoice problem Has anyone run into this or know the answer? When I select and invoice and then click on "Send to... Mail Recipient as text" I get an error message that "Operation Failed." I click OK, then get another message saying that Money could not detect my email provider. My email provider is Outlook 2003. This is a clean install of Windows XP Pro, Office 2003 Pro final, and new install of Money 2004 Small Business. I have tried a repair of Money and of Office. Neither made any difference. I did not have this issue with Money 2003.  - Corrupt transaction I entered a splt transaction in Money, then deleted it, and for some reason one of the splits, wich was a transfer to another account, remained in the receiving account only. There is absolutely no way I can delete it, neither using -s or salv.exe. Does anybody know of a way to manually edit the file, so I can get rid of it? its really annoying me...  - Money stopped starting (2003 Deluxe) For about 1 year now I've been happily using Money 2003 Deluxe without problems. However, last night when I came to rec. my bank statements etc I couldn't launch money. It starts up, I get a splash screen, a bit of the "music" and then it exits. No warning messages, nothing, it just dies. I've installed bugtoaster to try to trap any error, but that doesn't spot anything. I can't open either the sample.mny file or any other money file - the application just won't start. I've tried booting into safe mode and firing it up that way, but still no joy (nor under any other users accounts). I've tried deleting the sounds in case they were causing the problem, but it just re-installs them when it tries (and fails) to fire up! As a temporary measure I have installed it on my wife's laptop so that we can access the information, but that's not what I want to do long term. I've uninstalled / re-installed a number of times, with no joy. Using Win XP, XP2100, Asus A7n8x-dlx if that helps. THe only thing I can think of that has changed is the mobo drivers which I installed recently (don't want to roll that back) and some additional software. The Money Help screen (Bonds) acknowledges that the FNMA bonds will return principle, and a Return of Capital transaction can be entered.  - Faulty cost basis calculation I just re-installed Money 2003 Delux afyter a hardware problem, and am using a backup copy of the Money file. I hav eone investment that shows the correct purchase amounts and quantities, but has calculated the cost basis incorrectly. ( i.e. purchase 4000 shares at 2.35, cost basis $52,000 when it should be about $11,000). I can not find any way to edit the cost basis, or a way to get this program to re-calculate it correctly.  - Changing online payee address I'm using Money 2002, and pay bills online through my bank. I find that I cannot change the address of an online payee. I get to the window to make changes, but the information is greyed-out, and although the dialog box accepts my changes, it doesn't change the data.  - Deleted Transactions in Budget I have recently moved around the dates of some of my recurring transactions and deleted and recreated them. Money has handled this fine except for the budget. Under Automobile: Car payment, the subcategory in question, I have my two normal monthly budget items for this month and then three ghost budget items. They are blank with no information. When I right-click on them the Budget screen just blinks at me but goes nowhere. The normal budget items I can edit as usual. My total budgeted amount for this month under car payments includes the three ghost amounts. So I have a fake huge expected amount for car payments. After searching around I have seen that this is a known bug that other people have explained in different ways. We'd like an answer here from someone that knows what is going on. To get around this problem I added a one-time budget item under wage bonus to offset the three ghost amount. I don't think this affects cash flow or income beyond budget. I think December's budget may be correct but the current month just has that nasty residue left over from previous deletions. Please Help Us!  - Duplicate Stock Symbols in Portfolio Any Fellow User: I own MS Money 2004. I set up a Portfolio with several mutual funds with there respective symbols for easy price download. Unfortunately, I have two identical funds (one of which is an IRA). MS Money will only allow me to enter one of the funds with its respective symbol. When I try to enter the IRA fund it tells me the symbol is already being used. Anybody have any ideas...certainly not the end of the world. I just update the IRA fund manually as oppossed to on-line.  - Money 2000 Deluxe & 2004 Standard Had Money 2000 Deluxe and upgraded to 2004 Standard. I got the 'incompatible version' error message. Purchased 2000 in Asia and 2004 in Australia. Found the 304254 Microsoft Support page. Advised to uninstall 2004 and reinstall 2000. When I did this I got the message incorrect password. I have only ever had one password. Checked the password crack sites and one site said it could supply the password for $20US and the other site said that the file was not password protected. I cannot Import/Export the file from 2000 until I can open it. Do you advise to spend the $20-00US to try the password crack or have you any other suggestions. I have years of files that I need and now cannot even get acces to them in 2000.  - Money2004 Pocket PC WONT SYNC!! I had MS Money working fine on my iPAQ running PocketPC2003. I am using Money 2004. I had a problem with the syncing of an account, so I deleted MS Money from the iPAQ, and now I am completely stuck. I have reinstalled it about 10 times. I have also uninstalled ActiveSync. Every time I Sync, the syncing of the Money file comes up with "Attention Required". When I try to resolve, it just tells me one of the file types cannot be recognized, and to disconnect and reconnect the device. Of course i've tried that 20 times, and get the same message. When I go into options and select MS Money for Syncing, the "Setting" button goes into disabled mode. That means I can't do any tweaking or try to point it in right direction. Any ideas? Keep in mind I have reinstalled ActiveSync. I have upgraded to ActiveSync 3.7.1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Pocket Money, honestly, about 10 times. I am very frustrated.  - Tax Estimator not picking up Mortage interest I'm running the Tax Estimator in M04, and it doesn't seem to be picking up all my Mortgage Interest. I have an Equity Line set up as a credit account, but I do have the Finance charges in it categorized as Loan: Mortgage Interest. When I run the Tax Estimator, it only sees what I've paid on my actual Mortgage. If I run a report against that category, everything shows up, so I know it's not mis-categorized. Also, despite my Mortgage payment being a scheduled bill, Money is not projecting any additional spending in that category in the Tax estimator. Any ideas? my checking account which is incorrect. When I open the
account from my home page or the accounts page I see my
register with the correct amount.

This is simply driving me crazy.

Anybody have any ideas.
