It seemed to work pretty well until I discovered that it did not download any transfers of money into or out of PayPal into my Citibank account.     - Windows2007, and 100% CPU usage. I upgraded from V2003 to V2007. I'm using WindowsXP. Using V2007, I notice that the CPU usage varies from 0 to 100%. When CPU is being used at 100%, V2007 acts like lockup, but always released itself if left long enough. Is there anything in the software that should be blocked? I have blocked some things. Comments?     - Two Momey 2007 Issues/Suggestion I recently upgraded to MS Money 2007 Deluxe from Money 2004 and found two issues that MS has never seemed to resolve. The first is the frequency that bills are set at in the Bill Minder. The list of options in 2007 is still the same as in 2004. I would have figured that MS would finally allow you to set custom recurrent times. For example, I have a subscription that is billed every 3 weeks - not possible to do in Money. Second, is what I believe to be a bug that I found to be pretty prevalent, but apparently has not been fixed. The issue that that when I am entering a transaction and selecting a category that has a large number of subcategories, the scroll bar on the drop down for the subcategories is disabled. I can move through the list using the center button on my mouse or selecting an item and using my up/down arrows. I know I talked with a MS technician about this issue when I first got MS Money 2004 and he replicated the issue, yet here we are 3 versions later the issue is still there. Ya know, I like MS Money, but MS has got to do something in keeping simple things simple. Thoughts? - Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet.     - Compatibility Files Why does Money 2007 H&B make a copy of my Money file in the Compatibility File folder? As has always been the case since version 2, Money has a very difficult time converting files from only one earlier version as well as restoring earlier version backups. This is now compounded by Vista which it appears M$ has not fully designed Money 2007 for since this compatibility file is necessary. Sheesh! Very frustrating and confusing to perform an update. For hours I would see the file location on the startup screen that I thought I had deleted only to find it in the compatibility files location! Not worth the Money!     - Path Name is invalid with Vista upgrade Almost had a heart attack when I went to close Money 2006 and got a message stating the path name was invalid. The error message occurred when it tried to backup the money file as is the case with the option set to automatically backup. Anyway, to save anyone who will likely experience the same problem when they upgrade from XP to VISTA, the solution was to simply click the SETTINGS button on the backup prompt, then you'll notice that the path to the backup says "Documents and Settings" which is a virtual folder on Vista. Money 2006 does not see this folder but Vista supports it and knows to map it to the new USERS folder - which Money can see. All you do is click BROWSE then click CLOSE. Thats it. Vista automatically updates the correct path to the backup file that once sat in Documents/Settings in XP. Done. Hope to save others some time.     - $07 Delux and Vista problems I have a new laptop w/ Vista. Bought $07 Delux. Did the update to SP2. Cannot seem to move an $06 backup or an exported file from $06 on an XP OS computer to new computer without errors during the process. When I log in, I get a host of errors (it says an operation cannot be performed) and I have to click ok several times. I also get a new error now, tries to open a website http://g.msn.com/1mcusen2007 and on and on goes the site address. It ultimately leads to an "obres:34" error, of which there is no known cure at this time. When I close, it cannot create a backup, and I get more errors.     - Synchronizing with MSN gives false portfolio values Hi, tried to upload my Money 2005 files to MSN server page. Upload is possible but values in "My Money" on MSN are totally wrong. This happens even after deleting the online account and uploading again. There is no command to synchronize, the only way is letting it upload upon program termination automatically.     - Update retirement accounts not working in Money 2006 Deluxe I usually enter my retirement account info (401, 457, etc) via the Update Retirement Account option. have not been able to use this for any 2006 statements (up to 2005 worked fine). I enter all the data but it does not get entered into the register. If I go back into "Update Retirement Account" the data is all there, but nothing in the register.     - car loan payments What category should car loan payments go under? I have 2 years worth of payments on my carloan, which will be paid off in a few months, but somehow, there is no category listed with any of the payments. This is throwing my budget off. When I try to change the category to "Loan payment", it asks me if I want to "save this deposit that's categorized as an expense"? I realize I am 'depositing' a payment to my loan account, but as it is now, it's being categorized as 'unassigned income.' How can I fix this mess I've created? Thanks in advance.     - Disparity in Asset Allocation Chart MS-Money 2007 (SP2): In the report "Compare current and target asset allocations", the pie chart roll-overs (percentages and amounts) don't match the spreadsheet allocations just below it.     - How to change a transfer to a charge I accidentally defined a number of credit card transactions as transfers to a cash account. The problem is, Money 204 will not allow me to simply edit the credit card transactions to re-define them as charges as opposed to transfers. When I try editing the "To" account, I get an error message... "If you do not want a transfer, click Cancel and then choose a different type of transaction. No matter what I click, the transaction remains a transfer. The credit card transactions are reconciled but the cash account is not. I expect this should be simple but short of deleting the transactions and re-creating them, I can't find out how to make the change. I even tried deleting the transaction from the cash account but it tells me that it's going to delete the reconciled part of the transaction as well.     - How to handle ETF distribution Reinvestment without additional uni I own some ETFs which from time to time reinvests its distributions. However, the distribution reinvestment does NOT result in additioanl units (shares) of the ETF. This essentially increases the adjusted cost basis. Example: Buys 100 share of XYZ @ $10 cost basis = $1000 a distribution of $200 is declared and "reinvested" without changing share numbers. The result is holding 100 shares at a adjusted cost basis of $1200 or $12 per share. Distribution reinvestment with additional units/shares is easy and MONEY has specific investment "activities" to handle it. But, the "reinvestment of distribution" WITHOUT additional units/shares stumped me.     - Transaction versus Post Dates I'm a long time customer of Microsoft Money and I have recently ran into a problem that I believe would be solved with offering the ability to track transaction and account posting dates separately. Right now with Microsoft Money (I'm using version 2005), one must choose if he/she wishes to use the date as the time of the actual transaction or the date it posted to the account. Naturally using the posting date would be advantageous when sync'ing with your bank and performing balances. However, this gets me into a problem with taxes. I track sales tax of EVERY transaction because I find that it saves me hundreds of dolars on my tax return. The problem is that if I don't track the actual transaction dates, I might be including transactions that fell on the incorrect year (i.e. around the December-January transition). So, I'd like Microsoft to consider adding the ability for customers to include both methods of tracking transactions. There is a problem found by at least 2 people where the Investment Summary is outdated or incorrect, and doesn't match the information in the Portfolio Manager (which is correct). Basically the problem is that the Investment Summary is showing investments which have been sold, and not showing all new investments which have been purchased. No one has responded to the posts in that thread. Where does the Investment Summary data come from? Is there some way to get it back in synch with what's shown in the Portfolio Manager?     - Updates Money versions I am assuming that updates (patches) to Money are also halted when the download capability is cut off after what the 2 years? Is there a version i.e. 2004-2006 that has not received any patches as they are not manually downloadable?     - Money 2006 Budget I recently upgraded from Money 2002 to Money 2006 at the urging of a friend who told me the budgeting feature in 2006 was fantastic. However, I can't seem to get it to work. There are two major problems: First Issue: I enter my income, very simple, only one item. I get paid every two weeks, so Monday computes a monthly subtotal, and this is correct. For the sake of argument, let's say it's $1000. Then, I enter my expense budget items, including double-checking the ones Money pulled from my scheduled Bills. These are all correct. For the sake of example, let's say it's $800. So at the bottom of the expense screen it says Income $1000 Expenses $800 Left Over $200 This is all correct. I hit Next and I the message "You currently have $343 of unallocated money." This loses me, so I hit next again, and I get the pie graphs, where I can clearly see my income has been inflated, for absolutely no reason. Then, I go back to the main Budget screen, and I notice under the Budgeted column, it shows Income at $2143, budgeted expenses at $1126, and $1017 left over. Finally, it says I'm over on my mortgage payment because the budgeted amount is $0, even though I clearly have a budgeted amount. It does this with any line item that is tied to a scheduled payment, and yet I can't get rid of the payments and have an all-custom budget. HELP!     - Monthly Budget Report Hi, Using Money 2004, I went to the 'MONTHLY BUDGET REPORT', and TOTAL EXPENSE is OVERstated by several hundred dollars. I noticed that on the last line of expenses there's a grayed out amount, which when added, would show the correct TOTAL EXPENSE. Looking closer, the last few categories are not included..thus the overstatement of expenses. Yet on other budget reports, all categories are included! Help?     - Money 2006 will not open I've been running Money 2006 on Windows 2000 for about a month or two. I have had zero problems with this until earlier this week when I came home and started to perform my evening routine. I guess it started when I tried to sync with my hand held... I also opened up Money to get ready to pay for some bills, and Money locked up on me. Then my hand held told me it could not synchronize the money data. I found out that my data drive was not being read. I removed the drive and am working on getting that fixed, but in the meantime I decided to recover my money file so I could continue to work with it. I had a back up file from 3 days prior to the malfunction, so I tried to open it, but when I clicked on Money, it got so far as the splash screen and then closed again. I've tried reinstalling it numerous times in different locations. I've tried opening with a different user. I've also tried opening the Sample file. Every time I try, it starts to open but then closes again. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have numerous accounts that I need to keep track of and my hand held can only do so much.     - Money 2007 crashes when opening I am having similar problems as to an earlier thread - but I am not able to open up any money files. (Tried the sample, blank one, etc.) The moment I start Money I get 'Microsoft Money has encountered a problem and needs to close.'. Read it all then decide for yourself. It works for me! I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, "Yeah right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Even though the investment was a measly $6, I had three questions that needed to be answered before I could get involved in this sort of thing. IS THIS REALLY LEGAL? I called a lawyer first. The lawyer was a little skeptical that I would actually make any CASH but he said it WAS LEGAL if I wanted to try it. I told him it sounded a lot like a chain letter but the details of the system (SEE BELOW) actually made it a legitimate legal business. 2. IS OK WITH THE POST OFFICE OR IS IT MAIL FRAUD? I called them: 1-800-725-2161 and they confirmed THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! (See 18, h sections1302 NS 1341 of Postal Lottery Laws). This clarifies the program of collecting names and addresses for a mailing list. 3. IS IT RIGHT? Well, everyone who sends me a buck has a good chance of getting A LOT of CASH ... a much better chance than buying a lottery ticket!!! 4. WHAT IS THE BUSINESS? You are in the business of collecting mailing lists and recruiting new list developers. These questions answered, I decided to proceed. The instructions said that you have to send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article.     - FIA CARD SERVICES I keep trying to set up Money 2007 to download my CC info from FIA Card Services. When I do the account set-up it doesn't recognize my current account and sets up a duplicate account but then will not download the account information. It keeps asking for my Username and Password which I reenter repeatedly. No matter what I do I keep getting update unsucessful.     - Taxcut will import 02 money file, but not 07. Says incorrect passw I called Taxcut but they said this is a Microsoft problem. Only after I bought Taxcut did I find out that they only support importing data from Money back to Money 04. I use Money 02. Still, if I said I was importing a Money 04 file, Taxcut does import my Money 02 data. But there were some funny things about the data (which may or may not have been due to it not being the correct version), so since I have a trial version of Money 07, I tried importing that. However, everytime I tried to import the Money 07 file, Taxcut said 'incorrect password.' Even though I checked the password against my Money 07 AND it's the same password that I use with Money 02. Which Taxcut did accept. Is it that Money won't let me export a trial version? If so, it would be nice to have a error message to that effect, rather than 'incorrect password'? Finally, some related questions though not as urgent. I saw the costs for Money 07 on Microsoft's site. Is there a discount for current users of older Money to upgreade? I couldn't find anything about that. I'll be getting either Money 07 Premium or Deluxe. Not sure if the cost of Premiusm is worth those few extra features. . . Thanks.
