    - Money won't open -"encountered problem" After years of no problem operation Money 2004 brings up a dialog box which says Money encounted a problem and was closing. My first thought was reinstall. The Money CD started and then said there was a problem with Norton Antivirus. Neither MSFT or Norton's site revealed a solution. I uninstalled both Norton products. Uninstalled Money. I then reinstalled money. The Money reinstall did not bring up any warnings and appeared normal. However, w/o either Norton product installed Money returned the same error msg.     - Unaccepted electronic transactions I have upgraded to Money 2004. I download into my Palm using Ultrasoft Money. After the upgrade the balance on my Palm and the transactions do not list 'unaccepted electronic transactions'. Ultrasoft advise using their repair facility to highlight the transactions involved. HOWEVER, once i had done that I find that the tranasctions have already been accepted, are not in bold (as unaccepted transactions normally are) but still show the accept button on the transaction. Pressing the accept button makes no difference and even re downloading the transactions from the bank and re-accepting it also makes no difference. How do I get this 'bug??' sorted?     - Reverse Printing of Checks My checks feed into my 7550 printer in the correct order, but blank side of the page facing upward in the paper tray. The general settings on my computer call for printing documents in reverse order so that when printing is finished, word documents are in order 1,2,3,4 ...etc. when lifted from the drying tray. When I print checks in money, there is no similar setting for check printing, so the checks enter the printer in the order on the check, e.g. 2001,2002, 2003, etc, but the program records them as 2003,2002, 2001, etc. The net effect is that the number on the check doesn not match the number as recorded in the program. Anyone have any ideas how to solve this one, short of shuffling the checks into reverse oreder before they are placed in the printer for printing, or changing the setting for general printing outside of money each time I need to print a series of checks.. -- William L.     - Corrupt Data file I am at a loss and hope that someone can help me. Thanks ahead of time for all the posts and feed back! I can't open my money data file. When I open it it says: Money has detected that yoy did not close the file "Jens Financial Info" before exiting. Money now needs to verify the information in your file. If your file is large, this may take a few minutes. Do you wish to do this now? I then click on yes and the file doesn't open. It give me a box to either open a file, restore a backup, or recover a file. If I try to recover the file using the Super salvage tool either from Money or the one that I downloaded it says that the file can not be recovered. If I look at the log file for the Salvage tool then it says: No broken records in the original file. I tried to recover from the latest backup file, it recovers from like six months ago. I told Money to automaticaly backup but apparently it isn't working. I have installed Money on my other machine to test if it is the computer but I can't get it to open the file either. This file holds all of my invoices and all financial data from the last 4 years and I need to try to get this information back. Please Help. If it matters, here are all of the files in the directory that I store the data file.     - Bond with Level Repayments...can MS Money handle this? I can't see that any of the defined bonds fit this description..is there some way this can be entered? The bond (it's really called a lease) is purchased at it's face value with a rate of 2.89% The buyer also pays a broker fee of 1.494% at the time of purchase. The bond is repaid in 6 equal payments. The date of purchase was Aug 20, 2003 and the first payment to the bond holder is made on December 1,2003, with 5 additional equal payments every 6 months.     - Abnormal termination When I started my money 2001 today, I got the following message. "Runtime error! D:\program files\microsoft money\system\msmoney.exc This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. But what the devil is it doing that takes up 100% of my 1.5 GHz CPU for substantial periods of time?     - wrong account number in investment portfolio My 401k investment has the incorrect account number so when I try to down load my latest transactions it see nothin. I can see the account number when I go to account details but it is grayed out so I can't change it.     - Have Items to Review but can't see them I have just begun using MS Money and have setup several accounts to download details. The connection is OK, the balance is OK and MS Money indicates I have items to review. However, when I go to the account and select 'Unaccepted Transactions' or even 'All Transactions" then there is nothing there. Some of the transactions are against items in the account so should have been identified as matches. I checked these against the banks web service as verification.     - Incorrectly matched transaction I recently made an error when reviewing and approving downloaded statements for my credit card. I incorrectly matched a downloaded transaction with one that I had entered manually. How can I undo this. It appears that once I have accepted the downloaded transaction and the proposed match that I can't do anything with it (I can't even delete it if I wanted to)!     - Tracking Canadian portfolio Help! Somehow Money 03 is no longer tracking the prices of all of my Canadian retirement fund mutual accounts. Every one of them is flat-lined for the past year, except for May 28th, when ALL of them fell to -$99.90!!     - Investment - Foreign Currency Hi, I have an investment account in 'Canadian Dollars', today I purchased my 1st US stock and I'm trying to figure out how to enter it. When I enter the details, I tell Money it's a US stock and type in the US prices for the price and the commission but after I've entered it, all it does is deduct this amount from my cash account without doing any foreign conversion on it. I checked under tools and there is a conversion rate there for US. Do I need o set up another investment account in US funds to get this to work right? or am I doing something else wrong?     - transfer from savings shows up twice I downloaded my checking and savings statements from the bank. When I make a transfer from savings to checking it shows up as double in my checking account.     - Budget Dividends Using Money 2004-Dividends and all transactions on the Schwab account are downloaded first to the Investment Account and then automatically to the associated cash account. I am trying to budget dividends and the actual. The dividends show up in the budget as "transfer into budget" and include everything including buys and sells. I look at the transactions and manually exclude everything that is not a dividend. The results show up as a transfer in.     - partial account synch with Money for Pocket PC I have a Money 2004 installation with 2 accounts which synch to the Money Pocket PC without problems. I now created a new account and this account does not get synchronized. It also does not show up in ActiveSynch 3.7.1. I deleted one of the existing accounts and it gets removed from the Pocket PC. But the new account still does not get added. The new account is the same type (Cash or other) like the other accounts. The only difference is that it is in Swiss Francs (CHF) and not in US$.     - Automatic Payments Problem I have two monthly automatic payments only. One represents a mortgage loan payment and the other is only associated with the account it is paid from. On the Bills and Deposits screen, they both say that the next payment is due in several months time, but in fact are being scheduled every month. The problem I have is that each of them is being scheduled twice each month. If I do not remember to cancel one instance of each, both instances are paid.     - SPECIAL CATEGORY IN BUDGET Can someone help me remove the SPECIAL category in Budget? I created two accounts in "Loans and Liabilitites." One is for the mortgage and the other is for education. The mortgage is set up to disperse to Interest, Principal, Insurance,and Escrow. This part works fine. However, when I try to set up a Budget, a Category called "Special" keeps coming up showing the ACTUAL amount to be the total paid to the Mortgage lender along with the categories which I created (Interest, Principal, Insurance, etc.). This causes the amount shown in the Budget to be twice the amount (double recorded). How can I get rid of this SPECIAL category?     - Money 2004 - MSN Money Sync Problems I'm trying the trial version of Money 2004. I managed to import my Quicken file (which my girlfriend's copy of Money 2002 was not able to do?!). I subscribe to MSN so I have MSN Money. I can download all of my data into MSN Money. I cannot however do the same with Money 2004. PNC Bank is listed as Money-supported on the Microsoft website but it isn't - only Quicken is. Strange that MSN Money can outdo Money 2004 in this regard.     - Money 2004 Trial wont shows Quicken transactions I just downloaded the 60 day trial version of MS Money 2004 onto my PC that uses XP. I used the conversion wizard to convert my Quicken file.     - So when I couldn't get my upgraded money to DOWNLOAD my accounts I went looking here. As most that have posted I have been using Mony for a long long time. Upgraded to 2004 as I now have some stocks and wanted to take advantage of that part. So I came to 2004 Delux. I can't get it to download my accounts directly into to it. I have read all the 25 posts between 5/3 and today. This leads me to think that mine is not an isolated occurance. Less than half of these posts are from MVP's who offer a simular solution. or point to the 829143 Knowledge Base article. I went there printed it tride it to no effect. My bank is Wells Fargo. It gives me the choice of saving or opening the file for Money 97 and up in a OFC format. The Knowledge Base says this and all other banks now use a OFX data exchange file. I also have the choice of opening or saving the file as a .qif file. I can do that and then import it into money. It works but that isn't the way the program I bought nor the one I upgraded is suppost to work. I should be able to down load and import in one step. I could with my OLD money program. When trying to open any of the above files I get a falt box. Red X in a circle and Access denied . It is trying to open the file via a temporary internet file spot but can't. Given this and all that I have read on this news group posted just between March third and today leads me to think the boys and girls in Renton have once more sold some very buggy code. Trying to pass it off to the public and the newest and bestist. So perhaps if you MVP's have any clout with Micosoft you should push them to send out a patch fixing this rather LARGE defect with their product. Myself I'll just eat the money and dropback to 98. Try reregistering the msxml3.dll file by going to the Start button, press
Run, and type in 'regsvr32 msxml3.dll'

this has fixed this problem in the past.
