Does Money Support INternet update from TD Bank ?
I just installed Money 2004. I want to setup direct Internet update from

Does TD Bank support direct Internet downloads ? If so, how can I find out?
If not, which banks in Canada support direct Internet Download ?

Debt interest... in the budget planner.
I have set up a debt plan and a budget.
The debt plan is simple, since I have only a mortgage.
For simplicity, let's say my required mortgage payment is $1000 a month.
I add the mortgage account and choose to base my plan on 'what I want to pay
each month'. Since I want to prepay my mortgage, I then tell the Debt
Planner that I have $2000 for my 'monthly allocation for debt' ( $1000
required + $1000 pre-payment). It appears that everything sets up fine. My
payment appears in the monthly Bills and Deposits schedule. The split on
the payments shows the extra $1000 as a "Principal Transfer", along with one
calculated interest and one calculated principal payment. This makes
perfect sense to me.
Now, I goto the Budget Planner. On the "Enter your expenses" screen, I can
see that the Budget Planner has allocated $2000 for my "Debt Reduction
Planner" entry under the "Debt" budget group. Again, everything seems fine
since I told the Debt Planner that I had $2000 for my 'monthly allocation
for debt'.
The confusion is when I looked at the "Review your current budget status" I
noticed that my 'Special : Debt' category has an "Actual" of $2000 and a
"Budgeted" amount equal to the PRINCIPAL payments only. That is, the
interest paid is ignored in the "Budgeted" amount.
Is there anyway to have it include the principal and interest in that
total... because it says I'm under budget for that category when I review my
budget. The amount that I'm under budget is EXACTLY the interest amount
paid to my mortgage.
Thanks in advance,

Account Shows Items to review not showing in register
Hello,
thanks for the help in advance!!
Using Money 2004 TRIAL. Was going to switch from quicken
to MS because it seemed a lot easier to master.
Both when I DOWNLOAD an an account file from my Credit
Card company and import and also when I use the internet
update to update my checking account, the account summary
on the left of the register shows there are items to
review but nothing shows in the register. I have two
checking accounts at the same bank and the other seems to
work fine so it should reason the problem is not on the
banks end...
I have tried clearing my temp files and deleted cookies
and the problem persists.
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
I hope there's help here or Microsoft Money will soon
become "Microsoft Noney." Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173972
Recording a payments for an invoice.
Hello All,
I would like to match a invoice payment with a bank deposit.
I Create and send the invoice.
When the invoice is paid I goto invoices and recieve the payment.
When I update my bank account the deposit appears.
I then try to match it to the "Recieved Payment" that already appears in my
account.
But I do not see the recieved payment in the selection for transactions I
can match too.
I then try to delete the inovice payment and manualy select the right
account (the customer account)
And then assign the payment to the catagory "Payment for Invoice". But I get
an error telling me I can not assign this transaction.
I then tried to delete the bank's downloaded transaction, recieve the
payment from the invoice section.
But the next time I update the banks transaction appears again, so now I
have two payments listed, one from the bank and one from the Invoice-recieve
payment.
How do you work with payments for invoices?

copy old transactions
I've used money on my desktop since I bought it (not sure
what version, whatever shipped with win98). I've set up a
new account on my laptop XP with money 2003. I've made
some minor changes and added more subaccounts. I've added
online downloads and have used this new version for about
a week. I basically have a months worth of transactions
now (I downloaded the last 30 days from my bank). I would
really like to have all my old transactions from my
desktop on this new version for reference purposes. What
is the best way to do this without causing conflict of
different accounts/new information and transactions that
have since overlapped?

the last time i did a program update. it deleted my

What are the "rules" for money's matching transactions? I
find that it constantly mismatches items when the name is
different and the amount is different. Is there a way to
direct it to "only" match exact amaounts? I don't need it
to attempt to match to similar entries.

An unofficial FAQ for this newsgroup is available at http://umpmfaq.info.
The source FAQ was last updated Saturday, June 26, 2004. You may save
yourself and those willing to spend their time helping you both time and

The unofficial FAQ answers 140 of the most frequently asked questions in
this newsgroup.
Likewise, a comprehensive archive of this newsgroup is available at
http://groups.google.com. Click on Advanced Groups Search; there you should
specify newsgroup microsoft.public.money and some search terms you consider

discussed before. In some case you will find it has been discussed **many**
times before.

One last word to the wise: I post this once a week so some people might see
it and refrain from posting FAQs. I remember to do this because I also
backup my Money data file to several different locations and several
different media types once a week. I also assure that these backups do not
replace other backups but supplement them in case a problem goes unnoticed
for several backup cycles. Occasionally, I also test these backups to make
sure they really are. I recommend you do the same as soon as you are done
reading this. "Do you have a good backup?" is a frequent first reply to
problems posted here. Don't leave yourself in a position where your only
answer is "no." It's a lot harder to help people when that is their answer. Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173949

have an Au Pair that has a checking account at the same bank we use. I would
like to be able to transfer money from my account to her account and still

of accounting transaction that I could use to track these charges?

How to adjust loan
I set up a loan 3 years ago where the interest rate was known and the
desired monthly payment. Money permoved this correctly and determined
the length of the loan. At this point the interest rate has been
lowered. I went into Monday and attempted to change the interest rate.
It is still deisre to have the same monthly payment, just at a lower
interest rate. This will of course satify the loan sooner. Money
however only allows me to change either the interest rate or the monthly
payment. It wants to keep the number of remaining payments identical to
what it previous had been.
Am I over looking some easy way to change the payment schedule on the
loan so that I can change the interest rate while holding the monthly
payment constant?

Tabbed browsing, ala Firefox?
I was just browsing using Firefox, and thought how eminently usable it
would be to have tabbed browsing in Money, just like Firefox implements
this feature. You'd open the account list view, hold down <Ctrl>,

Credit Card Accounts
Hi,
I am trying to set-up a debt reduction planner..ughh!
Maybe someone can help me understand a couple of things.
First I entered all of my credit cards as credit accounts,
when I go into the account set-up and specify the interst
rate and current balance it always sets the minimum
payment to 0. Why?
This seems to be affecting my budget, it thinks that if I
make a payment of $50 then the account balance decreases
by $50. I need to figure out how money calculates the
minimum payment on a credit account and then the affect of
paying an additional $X sum of money.
Thanks in advance..

'buy' vs. 'reinvest'; whats the difference?
When a mutual fund makes a distribution, which is then
reinvested, what 'activity' should be used to record the

gain'?
As far as Money is concerned, what is the difference
between those things?

Vacation Pay That's Banked on a Paycheque
I'm not sure if I should handle this like the FAQ handles imputed income.
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
With each pay, 4% of the gross is put into Vacation Banked. For instance
with this paycheque.
Earnings:
Gross Pay $10.00
Deductions:
EI $.20
Net Pay: $9.80
Vacation Banked: $.40
How would I record this in Paycheque in Money?
The $.40 is not considered income until I take my vacation days, otherwise
it's in limbo to an extent. It's not counted in with my Gross Pay but is
determined by the Gross Pay.
I don't necessarily have to track it and I can create an Excel spreadsheet
to do so but it would be nice to put it in Money nonetheless.

Help!!
Since my MoneyCentral portfolio stopped allowing me to download
brokerage data, I decided to reserwreck my Money 2003 Deluxe that I had
uninstalled and tossed in a bottom drawer after briefly playing around with
it a couple of years ago when MSN Investor (MoneyCentral portofolio) was
giving me grief by refusing to download update data from my brokerage house
(Schwab). I'll say one thing for it, it did allow me to view the downloaded
OFX file and determine which transaction was causing the grief. Neither
Schwab 3rd level or MSN portfolio support types would fix the problem (Money
just rejected the transactions) so I temporarily stopped downloading the 3
accounts (of the 30 in my porfolio) that contained the transaction until
they aged off of the Schwab download list. I didn't like the slowness of
money or the fact it forced me to save data on internet based servers and
didn't want to have to reconcile credit cards and bank accounts, etc and
wouldn't take the brokerage house's word for how much cash I had in each
account.
Anyhow, a couple of years had passed going allong just fine using
Portfolio without having Money in my machine when the Upgrade/Downgrade of
portfolio occurred and after a month of going through complete agony getting
my portfolio to somewhat resemble its former apperrance (luckily I had a
7/21/04 .inv backup) I decided I needed to get my portfolio updated to
reflect dividend coming into the many active accounts so I decided to
reinstall Money 2003 just so I could get Brokerage downloads of dividends,
interest and new buys and sell. Just got done doing so, and upon starting
it up the first thing it wants to do (after having accept some terms) is to
prompt me for the password of the "My Portfolio.mny) file. Well I gave it
the passport password, the portfolio download password and the Schwab
password for my SSN. All to no avail. It wants something different.
Please one you MVPs give me a clue as to what I can delete or add to the
registry to be able to start using it. I'm running Windows XP pro with SP1
and all critical updates. Please don't suggest SP2 as I had that installed
on one of my other machines and it gave so much grief (Yahoo Messemger
stopped working) that I uninstalled it from there and am quite happy with my
free Zonealarm and free AVG and don't want any of the "enhancements" that
SP2 in it present form provides.
All I want is my MoneyCentral Portfolio to work as it did 6 weeks ago.
Help Cal I know that's what you'd like also. I know it wasn't elegant when
positions would disappear because of mergers and ticker changes, but I could
live with it and always had an audit trail of what had occured to
reconstruct the basis in the current view.
Sorry if I should have posted in MoneyCentral, but it at least works to see
current data. (Although slowly and with no cash in many of the accounts, and
old closed accounts with positions sold long ago). I don't even know if the
portfolio will be usable with the download from the brokerage houses, but
I'll never be able to find out if I can't get signed into Money.

money 2004 deluxe
I had nothing but problems after upgrading from Money03
to Money 04.
1. I had to reinsert the disk and reinstall the program
each time;
2. The income and expenses for the pre-conversion period
were incorrect, and new Cash 0(1,2 etc) accounts were
created, duplicating entries in other accounts.
3. Current investment account entries are incorrect:
Example:
Purchase:
Bond X: Entered: 100,000 @ 65.1853 Cost $ 65,185.25 (8/5)
This is correct, however, after upgrading the bonds to
$65.080 the account and transaction report shows:
Bond X: 100,000 @ 99.19 Cost $ 65,185.,25
instead of $ 65,080.00. Both the unit cost and the value
is incorrect. The values in all other reports are

Upgrade from 2000 to 2004: can't covert file
I have been using Money since late 1995. Since then I
have upgraded to MOney 2000 and now to Money 2004
Canadian Edition (I have always used the Canadian
Edition).
I have installed Money2004 on a new computer (therefore
it was a clean install). When I try to open the old file
(created with Money 2000), I am prompted for the password
(so it can read from the file), I enter it then it starts
the Import/Convert process: the progress bar shows that
some kind of operations are being performed and at the
end of it, Money 2004 shuts off (apologizing for the
inconvenience though :) ) without displaying any kind of
specific error (I did send an error report at that
stage). Rhis behaviour is consistent no matter how many
times I try it.
Notes:
- I have tried opening the original file with Money 2000:
it works, the file is not corrupted
- the original Money2000 file is ~ 13MB in size and it
contains all the information I have gathered since 1995
- the file created by Money2004 after the botched attempt
at converting the file is ~ 16MB in size; if I try
opening this new file, I am getting the same kind of
behaviur: prompting for the password, then shutting off
automatically
- I have tried repairing it: I get the bloated file as a
result (16MB) without any errors being reported in the
log and if I try to open it I get the same result:
prompting for the password, then shutting off
automatically
- I have tried installing Money 2000 and then upgrading
to 2004: same behaviour
- I have tried installing Money 2004 on a different
computer (running XP Prof without SP1 applied): exactly
the same behaviour
- I have tried importing individual accounts (vis the QIF
files): it seems to be working fine but I am trying to
avoid recreating 40+ accounts
Please advise if the only way I can transfer the
information is through the tedious manual process of
exporting and importing all the accounts, one by one.

your birthday
is BETWEEN JAN 1 THRU JUNE 30, OR, if your birthday is

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO. . .
STEP 1
Ok, if you're not already a PayPal user, the very first
thing you
need to do is use the PayPal link below and SIGN UP. It

BUSINESS account. You'll need to have a PREMIER or
BUSINESS account
(and not a PERSONAL account) otherwise you won't be able
to receive
credit card payments from other people.
STEP 2
It is an undeniable law of the universe that we must first
give in
order to receive. So the first thing to do when you have
your
Premier/Business PayPal account is to IMMEDIATELY send a
$5 payment
from your PayPal account to the email address in the
position (1 or
2 - depending on your birthday in the timeline), along
with a note
saying: "HERE IS A $5 GIFT FOR YOU." Be certain to add
this note, as
this is what KEEPS THIS PROGRAM LEGAL. Instructions on how
to send a
payment are under "SEND MONEY" at the Paypal Site. It's so
Easy!!
When you send your $5 payment to the first address in the
list, do
it with a great big smile on your face because "as you
sow, so shall
you reap!"
After you have transferred a $5 payment to the email
address,
something very eerie happens. It gives you an
indescribable,
overwhelming sense of certainty, belief and conviction in
the
system. You've just proved to yourself that, because you
have done
it, there must be a great number of other people ready to
do exactly
the same. Thus you have now seen for yourself, first hand,
that this
business actually works!
REMOVE the email address you are replacing (the one you
sent $5 to),
and REPLACE it with your own email address.
REMEMBER: Use the same EMAIL ADDRESS that is used with
YOUR Paypal
account ! !
Paste your newly typed email address over the old one and
then post
to 25 Message Boards, Chat Rooms, or Newsgroups. DON'T
MULL OVER IT,
JUST 30 MIN OF YOUR TIME, THAT'S IT THERE IS NO MORE TO
DO!!

WHY THIS PROGRAM WORKS:
Straight to the point, the reason this program is SO
SUCCESSFUL is
beacuse when you post this in 25 different message boards,
there are
only TWO outcomes.
(1) A persons birthday will fall on the same half as yours,
therefore, YOU GET THE $5 . .
OR,
(2) a persons birthday will fall on the other half of the
timeline,
therefore, YOU STAY IN YOUR POSITION and get posted in 25
other
MESSAGE BOARDS, etc . .
BOTTOMLINE: Either you get the $5 or your name gets passed
on for
other people to give YOU $5 or pass YOUR name on to other
people
that will. It makes you think though, the more you post
YOUR OWN
POSTS, the BETTER the results ! !
4 FACTORS THAT MAKE THIS PROGRAM SO SUCCESSFUL. . .
* EXTREMELY FAST RESPONSE
* EXTREMELY HIGH RESPONSE RATE
* UNLIMITED PROFIT POTENTIAL
* QUICK, SIMPLE AND CHEAP TO GET STARTED
So there it is. You now have the knowledge that will
enable you to
make over $10,000 within the next few weeks. The only
thing that can
hold you back now is a lack of faith or a lack of self-
belief.
However, any doubts you may currently have will disappear
within a
few days of putting this plan into practice. Trust me on
this! You
certainly won't regret it.
SOME NOTES FROM PAYPAL WHICH YOU MAY FIND USEFUL
PayPal lets you pay anyone with an email address and is
the world's
Number 1 online payment service. PayPal is accepted on
over 3
million eBay auctions as well as a countless number of
online shops.
You can also use PayPal to pay your friends - for example,
it's a
convenient way to split the phone bill with your room-
mate, send
cash to your kids in college, or send cash to someone in
another
country. Better yet, you can also earn a referral bonus of
up to $75
each time someone signs up for a PayPal account using your
referral
URL!
When you send money through PayPal, you can fund your
payments with
your credit card or cheque account. You won't have to
worry about
your privacy, because PayPal keeps your accounting
information safe
and secure. Making a purchase with PayPal is far more
secure than
mailing a cheque or giving your credit card number to a
stranger.
That's why over 9 MILLION people from around the world use
PayPal to
move money. Signing up for a PayPal account is free, easy,
and it
takes only a couple of minutes.
Thank you, and good luck in your ventures
Best Regards

P.S. Does this sound too good? Well maybe to some skeptics
it is.
But it actually works, and is worth the 30 minutes of your
time now.
So, just make a nice cup of tea and get started on it now.
After
all, you can't lose, but you stand to gain more in the
next few
weeks than many people earn in a year! Whats 5 dollars out
of your
pocket to try this out, trust me you will not regret that
you did
this. You will be thanking me and whoever developed this
program,
and please play fair, that's why this system works. Good
luck and

Missing Account on Monthly Report
I have an open account with balances that doesn't show up
in my monthly report. I can see it under the Account list
and it shows up when I want to view it alone but it
doesn't appear in the list of accounts in my "What Do You
Have" option. It is defined as OPEN and I didn't
customize my report options to exclude it. Any ideas? Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173881
Trouble restoring backup from M 2001 to M 2004
I just migrated from Win98 (old computer) to WinXP (new computer). I
backed up my old Money 2001 and manually installed into the new
computer. I also used Detto's Intellimover to move files. Money 2004
was initialized before all this backing up. When in 2004 and using 2004's
Restore (File/Restore), the back up file was found, but it never was
installed into 2004. What do I have to do to get the data into 2004?
Thanks,

Error installing Money 2000 Deluxe
I tried to install Money 2000 Deluxe on my new XP
computer but I keep getting the error message: "Unable to
initialize a required Money component. Please
reinstall..."
An article on the Money support site notes the problem
but says the solution is to reinstall. I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling. No luck. The regular
support option requires the Product ID, which can only be
obtained if product is installed!
So, here I am. I would prefer not to buy a new copy.
Any suggestions?
Thank you. Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173868
Credits on Money 2002 Deluxe & Business invoices
Hello,
Yes, I am running the ol' 2002 Deluxe & Business version.
<insert rimshot here>. But its no joke, it works fine for
my needs and soon to buy the 2004 ver... uhh ohh, betcha
2005 version is probably on the shelves.
Anyway, I am creating an invoice and happily adding
service items (rate and time). However, I want to give
this customer a discount by taking it off the bottom line
with its own "discount" line item. The only problem is
item editing only allows positive numbers! I tried ()
with as much success as "-", absolutely none.
Is there any way to add a correction to the invoice in
2002D&B to reduce the bottom line total on an invoice?
Many thanks,

Yearly Budget Values
I'm having a lot of trouble setting up a budget. In
certain categories I may not have a monthly expense, but
I may pay every quarter or twice a year. I've set the
appropriate categories in the budget with their
appropriate timeframe (for instance, my health insurance
is billed annually, so I put in the amount and
selected "yearly").
However, during account transactions, when I record
paying my health insurance (the entire yearly amount), it
comes up in my budget as if I'm over for the month. Any
suggestions? Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173858
Money 2004
Does anyone know why my money software locks up when I
try to restore from money 2001 into money 2004? I bought
a Dell with 2004 deluxe on it and I can't get my old data
which was 2001 to restore. Please help. Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173856
Money update
I just started using M2002. I am getting used to it. I discovered a disk
(came with the computer) for Money 2004 that I didn't realize I had. Is
there any advantage to upgrading to 2004? If I install 2004, would 2004
read my 2002 files? Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173851
How to add schedule pmnt to existing loan?
I am using Money 2003. I have set up a mortgage, but can get past one
obstacle.
I set up my checking account which has about two months worth of data in it,
including two payments on my mortgage. I want to set up the mortgage loan
so that I can record those two payments properly in the checking account.
Can't do it because Money does not permit me to enter dates into the
mortgage wizard that are dates older than today's date. I need to do this
because my two transactions in the checking account probably do not have the
appropriate categories and/or are not connected properly to the mortgage
account. I tried saying NO to a scheduled transaction in the mortgage
wizard, and setting up a scheduled transaction later, but do not know how to
tell the category box to "calculate" the principal and interest amounts for
each payment.
How can I get past this?

money98
i have been unable to get stock quotes from the server
for several weeks now using my Money98. Is this because
MS is no longer supporting 98 or is it a XP_SP2 issue?

Money 2000 Windows XP SP2 Password problems
Hi.
* I have reformatted my hard drive (On a Compaq Table
TC1000) & reinstalled Windows XP Pro Tablet.
* I have then installed the Windows XP SP2. I then
restored my backups, which included my mny data file from
Money 2000.
* I then (amongst other software installs) installed
Money from the original CD.
* When I tried to start Money, it asks for the password
as usual BUT it doesn't accept the usual password.
* I have checked that it is the right file, checked Caps
Lock, typed carefully several times - to no avail.
* Are you aware of any problems with Money 2000 & SP2? I
am reluctant to blame SP2 for everything as some are want
to do but the rest of what I have done seems OK.
** Any help of course very much appreciated. Regards.

Split transaction in a TRANSFER
When using the TRANSFER option from one account to
another, I do not find a way to split the transaction to
different subaccounts. Am I overlooking something?
I.E.....
I've received a check from a customer. Part of the
check would be my commission, the other goes to the
Insurance company when they send me the bill. I would
want to be able to transfer part of this from my 'Customer
Premium Payments' account to my 'Business' income account
as commissions, and the balance to my 'Premiums Due'
account as owed to insurance companies. This way,
the 'Premium Due' account will show how much is waiting to
be sent to the insurance companies at any given time. Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173838
Reinstall of Money 2004
I had purchased a copy of Money 2004 online and my hard
drive crashed. Does anyone know of a way for me to
download Money again and reinstall without having to buy
it again? Does Microsoft keep track of this info
somewhere so that I could possibly give them a call and
get some code to unlock the software?
Thanks Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173837
Need category in register view
MS Money 2003
I just created a new account, and the register view gives me only one line
in the view: Payee.
Another older account shows both the payee AND the category. I can't for
the life of me figure out how to get that view in the new account.
Help, please?
Many thanks.

Running two files simultaneously....
Can you run two MS Money files at the same time? I have
one for personal use and one for business use, but am
always having to close out of one and open the other. I'd
love to be able to have a window for each open at the same
time in order to view information.....MS Money 2001 Tag: Having problems with 2004 Tag: 173832
XP SP2 & Money 2002
After reading about some problems with SP2 and Money 2002, I have decided
that I will uninstall Money first, install SP2 and then reinstall Money.
My question is, when I reinstall Money and open up my data file, will all of
my online backing links start to work again or will I have to set them up
again?
TIA,
