I just purchased a new laptop with Money 2006. On my old laptop which died I
was using 2005. My online bank does not support Money 2005 for downloading
transactions.

How do I downgrade to Money 2005? Can I just uninstall M 2006 and install M
2005? Can I them import my M 2006 files which have be upgraded?

Thanks

They don't support 2005 or 2006? Hard to imagine they would work with M05
and not work with M06...

The data file, once upgraded, will not go backward. But the data file
upgrade should have left a .M14 file behind that will be current to the
point of the upgrade. (It's just the pre-upgrade data file renamed.) Rename
it from .M14 back to .MNY and open it in the freshly installed M05.

Thank you. Unfortuntately my M05 was on the laptop that died and I did not
have a reinstall disk. How can I get this program on my new laptop when I
have the 06 edition.

Unfortunately my M05 program was on the laptop that expired and I do not have
the installation disk for this. I am wondering how I might get one

Ebay? M05 is now two versions obsolete. (I did see a copy of M05 Deluxe
right next to a copy of M06 Deluxe, no M07, in a MicroCenter today.) You may
just have to go looking and hope to get lucky.

FWIW, if the copy that was on the departed laptop came with the departed
laptop, it wouldn't even be licensed for any other machine anyway.

Well, the M2006 is incompatible with my bank transaction downloads, e.g.,
they don't support this version. I need to go back to 2005. My 2005--which I
paid for an upgrade from 2002--was on my old laptop that expired. I cannot
get to the program again to load it on my new laptop.

Hmm, seems that I paid for an upgrade from 2002 to 2005. Why should'nt I be
able to transfer to a new computer?

Would you care to name the bank? If you are and they in the US, I
would be surprised if there were a bank that works with Money 2005
but not with Money 2006.

Let's just say the bank and I are located in a rural area in the New England.
It is a small locally owned savings and loan association.

That may have changed your situation in several ways. 1) it is probably a
transferable retail license (haven't read the agreement for sure, but it is
a new license, not an upgrade), and 2) you may still be able to download it
again and re-install it. (Assuming you have the original Passport that you
used to order the software in the first place.) Try going to
http://www.microsoft.com/money/special/ThankYou.mspx.

OK.

And if you go to http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx is
it listed, and if so, does the description say "third party"?

It's not listed, but I don't care that Money can automatically conect with my
bank, etc. All I want it to do is import the downloaded transactions, which
my bank says are in Money format, to upload into Money. And my bank's
technical support says this cannot be done anymore with M06 and above.

That is odd, in that Money 2006 and Money 2007 should be able to
import all of the same file formats that Money 2005 can. However for
Money 2006, you will want to go to
Tools->Settings->OnlineServiceSetting and
select ShowStandardizedPayeeNamesForWhichANameIsNotFound. This will
work around an anomaly. Then do your downloads.
