    - Citi Card not updating when starting Money 2006 I have a few credit cards and bank accounts set up for online updates. My Citi Card account is the only one where you can specify the frequency for updating. I have it set for "Every Day". When I first sign into Money 2006 in the morning it automatically performs an online update for all my cards and banks - except my Citi Card account. In order to update that account I have to do a manual update. I tried disabling online updates for the account and then enabling it again, however its still not updating automatically when I sign in. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, "Yeah, right, this must be some kind of scam" but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you send $1.00 though paypal to each of the emails stated in the article. You then place your own email address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 news groups. (There are thousands) No catch. That was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured what have I got to lose except $6.00,right? Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it. It follows the same regulations as the "mailed chain letters, which according to the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) is indeed legal! Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!? Within 7 days, I started getting money in my paypal account! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $15.00. By the end second week I had made a total over $800.00!!! In the third week I had over $6,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $21,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's Certainly worth $6.00. I have spent more than that on the lottery!!!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works? As soon as you click that link your email is confirmed. (2) Paypal will then make two small deposits into your bank account if you set up your paypal account with a checking or savings bank account. Or paypal will make two small deposits to your credit card if you set up your paypal account with your credit card. Then after a few days (it takes up to a few days for these deposits to appear in your bank account or on your credit card statement) then after a few days you go back to the www.paypal.com website and sign in. Then you click where it says this account is not yet confirmed. A screen will pop up that gives you 2 boxes to fill in. You then enter the numbers of the 2 small deposit amounts (two separate 2 digit numbers) that were deposited to your bank account or credit card.     - Money 2006 Small Business invoices I just bought Money 2006 SB because I read somewhere that it (finally) can email HTML invoices and has a totally revamped invoice designer. So imagine my disappointment -- disgust, actually, since Microsoft hasn't gotten this product right in over 10 years -- when I found the same old piece of crap invoice designer and no way to send HTML invoices.     - Upgrading from Money 98 to 2006 Problems Hi all, I am running Money 98 on a Windows 98 machine. I have a new machine that is running Windows XP Pro. I downloaded the Money 2006 Trial version to see if I can bring my Money 98 files in. When I try to open the Money 98 file I receive the following message: "The file maybe corrupted or is not a Money file. If you chose the correct file and it would not open, you can try to repair this file or restore a recent backup" I have tried to repair the file but was told that the database was invalid. When I try to restore from a backup, it says that the file cannot be located, is read only, or that I do not have the permissions to do this. Is this occurring because I am using the trial application? I thought from reading other posts that the file could be converted if it was done on an XP machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - How to eliminate the need to sign in to My Money 2005? I just upgraded my PC and my new one has My Money 2005 (was using 2003). I never had to log in/sign in to money while using 2003, but can't figure out how to eliminate this need to sign in to 2005.     - How can I prevent Money from automatically loading previously downloaded statements for reconciliation? I am using Money Standard 2000. I have always downloaded my bank statements via the web and then, when I have chosen to do so, imported the downloaded statements into Money for reconciliation. That way, I can wait to import the statements until after I have hand entered the transactions for a particular period, which is what I prefer. I recently bought a new computer and installed Money. I had not entered data into Money since last April, although I had downloaded .ofc statements from my bank at regular intervals. When I opened Money today, it immediately opened my most recently downloaded statement for reconciliation. I can?t figure out how to configure the program not to do that, and don?t recall how I so configured it on my old computer. I can?t find anything in Tools/Options that covers this.     - When do uncashed electronic payments get re-credited to my account I sent an electronic payment via Money 2004 to a friend, but before she received it we worked out some other compensation. When she received the $700 check, she tore it up instead of cashing it. However, even before she received the check, $700 has already been taken out of my account! When do I get this money back? I've been using e-payments through Microsoft Money for about three years, and this is the first time I've had this situation. I hadn't been aware 'til now that these paper checks that get sent out apparently take my money out immediately and move it to some intermediary account--this really annoys me to know that my account is being tapped before anyone actually gets a check.     - Money 2006 Install Error Does anyone have problems with installing Microsoft Money 2006?? I keep getting an error at the end, "Setup was unable to install some of the components needed to run money. Try installing money again." I have no problems installing Money 2005. I have tried every conceivable (and I mean everything, short of a full reformat) ways to see if the install would work; such as removing programs that I recently installed, new Admin Logon, in safe mode, backed out Win XP SP2, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Additional Mortgage Payment On the 1st of each month my mortgage payment is drafted from my bank & Money 2005 tracks it with no problem; however I also make an additional mortgage payment on the 15th of every month and I'm unable to get Money to recognize the extra payment.     - Mutual Fund Failure Ugh! The fix is unfixed. The daily price changes are recorded correctly in Investment Summary and Best and Worst Performers, but not where it matters most, the Last Price in PV and Today's Total Change, and of course, the Market Value of one's holdings. And, btw, since I've used M2004 has never properly recorded the changes for one pink sheet stock I own, Canadian Oil Sands, which isn't exactly an unknown stock.     - Dow Jones Index Options I have been unable to create a Dow Jones Index Option in Money 2006. The problem occurs when I am asked to select the underlying stock index from the list. (last step in creating the investment) I am able to select every index listed except for the Dow Jones Industrial Average which is the one that I want. When I try to select Dow Jones Industrial Average (then click finish), a box pops up asking me to select an index from the above list or change my investment choice to "other option". I do not want it to be categorized as "other option" and even if I did, it wont let me enter it correctly there either. I have tried removing all indexes from my watch portfolio then deleting the index completly and then readding them ,but that hasnt helped either. Any help greatly appreciated.     - Merge accounts and account type issues w Money 2006 I just upgraded from Money Small Business 2004 to 2006. I've never used passport with Money before. I do direct banking with my bank, not via their website. I'm having trouble now when I try to download a statement, Money says the bank doesn't recognize my accounts. It says this could be because of duplicate accounts. Yes, it has duplicated my two checking accounts. My old accounts (1 and 2) are all there, have all their transactions. Then there are duplicates of those accounts, 3 and 4 respectively. So I go to merge accounts, and it says I can't merge a personal account with a business account and to chose a different account! Well I can't just merge any old accounts! #3 duplicates #1, and #4 duplicates #2. These are the accounts that need to be merged. It also won't let me change the account type for any of these 4 accounts. So now I have upgraded to Money 2006 and my online banking is worthless and my accounts are all screwed up. What do I do now?     - Money2005 Internal Error when access loan accounts I just began using Money2005 Standard OEM (HP Notebook with WinXP Pro). I set up my Mortgage Loan and associated my Condo as the asset. I can access the associated asset account, but when I attempt to access the Mortgage Loan account, Money gives me the error "Money has experienced and internal error and needs to close...." message then reboots. I can't even delete the account because any access to it starts the error all over again. I tried everything to solve this. MS won't help for free because it's OEM. HP won't help for free because it's 3rd Party. I reinstalled the software and the account was gone. Instead of setting up my Mortgage again, I set up my Car Loan. Same problem! Each time I attempt to access the Car Loan account, I get the "internal error" apology and the program reboots.     - M06 Deluxe Budgeting Issues I am still trying to fix the budgeting feature in Money 06. I cannot switch from Essential Budget to Advanced and Essential Budget does not appear to work correctly. Let's start with Essential Budget: I have tried repairing the file both Quick and Standard without affect. I have tried deleting all Income and Expense without affect. However I have noticed that with all these deleted the budget looks strange. When looking at the Expense page the summary says $0 Income and $0 Expenses Net $0, but when looking at the Income page the summary indicates a $2960 expense for a Net -$2960 budget. I saw something about starting a new file and importing QIF file which I though I would try but it looks like I can only export 1 account at a time and this file has over 225 accounts in it. I certainly can't do that. Are there any other solutions? I want to get to Advanced Budgeting mode preferably, but in lieu of that would be slightly satisfied to get the budget to net out correctly in the Essential mode. I suspect the two issues may share the same root cause and it may be this "phanton" $2960 in expenses that is keeping me from switching to Advanced mode. Without a budgeting feature, this program is really little more than a checkbook in terms of functionality for me anyway. I have transactions dating back to 1998 in this Money file, I would hate to lose all that information by creating a new file and am not even sure that would fix the budgeting problem.     - Passport and Money When I went from 2005 to 2006, then attempted to open my MNY file, I got a message telling me my e-mail or password is incorrect. So I invoked the "Forgot your password?" link on the page, and proceeded to, well, change my password, like it suggested. So I still can't get into my MNY file containing 7-8 years of financial data.     - Upgrading I am currently using MS Money 99 and recently purchased Money 2006. I want to upgrade and keep using the same file in the new version of the software. (This way I still have all my financial data in tact.) When I go to open the 99 file or restore the 99 backup in the 2006 version, I get an error message that says it cannont locate the file or that is has been corrupted. I know neither of these are true because I can still use the file in Money 99. I don't think Money 2006 knows how to recognize the 99 file.     - Another Cash Account question I have a schwab investment account setup. It has, on the cash ledger $6000. In the same account, I own a MM Mutual fund with 34,000 shares at $1 each. I sold the MM Fund, and bought $40,000 worth of a bond fund. My investment ledger shows a sale of 34,000 shares of the MM Mutual fund. It automatically "used" the cash balance to purchase the bond fund. How do I show the "sale" of the cash in the cash portion? My main problem is that the sale of the MM fund shows as investment income. It is offset my a buy of $40,000 worth of the Bond fund. So my income and expense report is showing a negetive $6000. I figure if I show a sale of the $6000 cash, the income and expense report would show income of $40,000, and an expense of $40,000. How do I handle this problem?     - NEW INFO on mutual fund update problem I have been working with an MS tech on this issue. It turns out that certain groups of funds do update, although the date does not show it, while others do not. For example, all of my Vanguard funds update (the date does not), but my Fidelity Funds do NOT update. I sure hope Microsoft can fix this issue quickly; entering the NAVs manually is a real pain.     - The question that never gets answered.. why ? I posted the question below twice in the last several months and never got any answers. Is this because nobody knows, or because nobody cares to answer ? The question is - is Money for PPC database encrypted, or is the password there for "obfuscation" only ? I tried Spb Pocket Finance and the program was able to import data from Money for PPC v4 without asking for my password.     - Broken Loan Series? My house loan payment some times gets out of sync with the bill payment series. (I think Money occasionally misses the match after downloading my bank statements, and I don't catch it.) When this happens, I need to delete a payment in the Bills & Deposits list, since it shows past due. Occasionally (twice now) when I do this the loan changes from a Category of Loan Payment (tied to my loan) in to a Paycheck! If I edit the bill series, the splits don't add up to the total (they sum the wrong way, so the Unassigned is twice the loan payment). No matter what I do at this page I can not get the splits to add up, and I can't delete the existing Principal or Interest lines to replace them with new Principal and Interest lines. If I go to Setup Accounts and edit the loan that way, no matter what changes I make to the loan the bill payment series doesn't get fixed. The last time this happened I had to close the account, open a new loan, and get the dates right so the numbers calculate to the correct values. This is the second time this has happened and I don't want to go through that again... But if it's happened twice it will likely happen again. Any advice on how to set this up so it works correctly?     - SEP-IRA Contributions... I am very new to Money so please excuse me. I have a SEP-IRA through my employer and each paycheck I contribute the maximum that I am allowed to contribute. My company makes contributions each paycheck equal to 10% of my gross pay. I can setup the paycheck and manage my contributions but how do I also track my companies contributions into the account? For now I just created a new recurring deposit into my SEP-IRA. I just want to make sure that there is not a way to associate my companies contributions with my paycheck in money.     - merging without deleting history? I am running Money 2005 Deluxe Money has been flaky with the online updates for a couple weeks now (the program spews out all sorts of messages - no record of account/update failed (or something similar to that)/etc). It advised me to stop online services and reinstate them, so I did. It worked for one of my credit card accounts, but in doing so it created a duplicate entry. It did NOT work for a banking account (keeps saying "account setup unavailable"), and thus I manually update that account through my bank's web interface which lets me download transactions. Question #1: Why did Money create a duplicate CC entry? (only containing new items, nothing from the original account entry). Question #2: Is there a way to merge the original and new CC accounts without deleting the past transaction history as Money said it would do? Question #3: The banking account I am having troubles updating online (or rather, setting up to update online) is Washington Mutual. Anyone else having issues?     - black and white - no colour I have installed Money on my XP Professional machine and the graphs on the cash flow page are black and white line graphs, and the home page has a black and white graph for spending by category. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, installed over, and nothing changes this. I imported my brokerage accounts info from HarrisDirect into Money 2005.

The balances aren't even close to what they should be or what I find going
directly to HarrisDirect MarketSpeed software.

Anyone been successful or have similar problems?
