STARTED GETTING THIS STRANGE ERROR REGARDING MY FINANCIAL PLANNER DATA

I DECIDED TO "REINSTALL" MS MONEY DELUXE 2005. CAN'T GET ANY OF MY FILES TO
OPEN NOW. SAYS THEY ARE "READ ONLY." I REMOVED THE FLAG FOR READ ONLY ON THE
ENTIRE SUBDIRECTORY BUT NONE OF MY FILES WILL LOAD.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/242340/en-us should be the fix for this.
however, because it's Money 2005, try opening a new file (File->New) and
then allowing Money to download the update. Once this is done, then open
your file again.

Still not working after I

1. repaired the file using Standard Level (Salv.exe)
2. started MS Money Deluxe 2005 but still got the error HRESULT=0X80004005
3. uninstalled Money per KB242340 (Q242340)
4. reinstalled Money into c:\Program Files\Microsoft Money05 & rebooted
5. started Money created "new" file to get through setup. Closed Money.
6. restarted MS Money with "new" file and then opened MY original file but
still got the error HRESULT=0X80004005
7. got kicked completely out of Money when I tried to reset my planner
options

I'm lost! Can you help?

Sent you an email, and I believe you've sorted it out.

For any others, use of the registry patch on
http://money.mvps.org/patches.aspx to reset the planner seems to have fixed
it.
