I just set up a new Fidelity mySmart Cash account. Unfortunately Money
downloads it as a brokerage account rather than a checking account.
This results in 1) being filed under the wrong heading 2) transactions
requiring multiple entries (i.e. sell core account and transfer to cash,
write check from cash)

Does anyone have any good tips on how to deal with this sort of situation?

I see two major alternatives:

1. Go with the system as it downloads. It will work fine, and it is
doing the work.

2. Turn off the automatic downloads and enter things by hand exactly
as you want.

I would go with #1.
