    - Pending Transactions from Bank of America One of the features I like from BoA Online banking is the "pending transactions" which allows me to see transactions that are not cleared yet (usally weekend transactions that are not cleared until Monday).     - Adjust Shares Hi All - yet another one of my questions: My employer recently changes 401k providers and in the process I lost the ability to go back and see the purchases that were done from my last contribution. In other words: I have a 3 year history of the 401k in MS Money, and now I have my new positions on the 401k website, but I am missing one set of transactions which would make my Money balance out with the website. What's the best way to account for this? Can I just say in MS Money: here's what my balances now are, enter some adjustment?     - No Unread Statements, but Statements to read? Hi, After I download my statements from Fidelity and another similar institution, I get a page with the results of the download. At the top is a caption which tells me how many unread statements I have. There is a column to the left labeled Unread which may have an arrow pointing to one or more statements. Sometimes, even though the page caption says their are no unread statements, there are arrows in the Unread column to one or more accounts, and occasionally, there are in fact transactions when I review the individual account.     - MNY 2006 Trial - No Automatic Updates Notice, I'm asking about Money 2006 Deluxe downloaded trial edition. I have set up my accounts (bank, broker, credit card) for automatic updates. If I manually "update accounts" it does (most of the time). But it never "automatically" updates the accounts. I have the banks on the default, no changes, Every Day setting.     - Investment activities and tax reporting I have an investment account. There are some transactions in it which correspond to 'Activity = Dividend'. Their amounts are 'transfer'ed to a checking account. In the checking account, I see 'Category = Transfer From : investment account'. These transactions cannot be added to a 'tax line'. I can't have these transactions automatically picked up for my tax report. Am I missing something? What is the intent of the design of Money regarding these transactions and tax reporting?     - Money 2006 Backups I uninstalled Money 2002 and installed money 2006. When money closes I have it set to backup to a flashcard. The problem is that it keeps creating additional backups even though I have it set to only keep the most recent 2 backups. Thanks you, Bob The way to save the ofx files is to open a folder in Explorer, go to Tools - Folder Options, File Types -- scroll down to the OFX file, click on advanced, and then click on "confirm open after download". This will give you the choice of opening or saving the file. If you want to view it, opt to save it. To send it to Notepad, open the "sendto" folder (Start - Run - Sendto will do that), right click in the folder, select new - then shortcut - then enter "notepad.exe". Go back to the folder where the ofx file is located, right-click, send to, select notepad. I am not quite sure what you mean by open a folder in Explorer, go to Tools - Folder Options, File Types -- scroll down to the OFX file, click on advanced, and then click on "confirm open after download". By Explorer do you mean Internet Explorer? I did a search for OFX and found an OFX.DLL file which I tried to open with NotePad and when I opened it, I got gobiligoog.     - ameriprise one account and money 2006 for the life of me, i can't seem to get ms money to pull down my ameriprise one account transactions. i called ameriprise, and they said the account was set up correctly they gave me the ms money toll free number :-( when i click add account, i choose investment, and then ameriprise from the list of institutions, it then throws up a dialog box saying that i'm already tracking ameriprise accounts with the account xxacctxx, is the new account tied to the account xxacctxx? i answer yes (i am tracking other accounts at ameriprise, and i'm using the account xxacctxx) money then tells me i should perform an update to my account (i'm assuming that is the little opposing arrows symbol in the upper right hand corner of the ms money screen. when i do that, it doesn't say it found a new account and would i like to start tracking it. i have tried creating a new .mny file, money can't find the ameriprise one account (though it finds the other accounts) i have tried removing online access to all my accounts, and adding them back. no luck anyone else have an ameriprise one account talking to ms money 2006? jd Tag: Export/Import Limitations Question Tag: 207420

    - Cant open my money98 file Hi, i wonder if anyone can help. I just did a total reinstal of my computer and instaled money98 which is the programme i use. However it is not opening my money file. After searching in your excellent website i came to the conclusion that my money file is corrupted as sample.mny opens normally. I tried downloading the money-repair.exe tool but when i opened it into a separate folder and clicked on repair.exe the message 'cannot find file msvcr71.dll' came up. Any ideas how i can procede?     - Rename a payee -- why not? I'm using Money Standard 2003, which seems to work pretty well overall. I named a couple of payees poorly when I started -- I named one payee Providian Visa Gold. Now it's a Plantium card; Providian upgraded the card for me. The name is now confusing to me when I pay the bill. Apparently if a payee has ever been paid electronically, it can't be renamed.     - Unable to download new transactions in Money I am unable to download new transactions from my investment broker in Money 2006 Premium. It downloads all my positions, and they appear in the ofx file, but there are no transactions, even though recent transactions are listed on the broker site. The initial download (to create the account) is fine, and includes both transactions and positions. But after I import transactions from another Money account, and then download again, only the positions appear in the ofx file, no transactions. So my question is, how does my financial institution know which transactions to send? Can I set that manually in some way? I have already asked MS support for help and from my broker, but so far no luck. They have just sent me in circles, asked me to import, export, repair, etc. etc. and so far nothing has worked. To take advantage of new features, I started setting up the online services for my checking account. I was able to have Money establish a connection w/ my bank and login w/ my supplied username and password. Money makes all the conversions perfectly at first, and then after somtime converts the amounts of the interest and dividends received to EUR, hence giving all wrong totals, as the exchange rate for the interest rate and dividends cannot be changed, ( or at least I don't know how to do it). My problem is that after some time money updates on its own and changes the values of the interest received in USD to EUR, hence changing the value on its own to 864, but keeps the symbols correct, all values for buy, interes and totals show US$ but the value is wrong, it should be 1028. I've checked that the base currency is EUR and the account currency is Us$, and the investment is in US$ and the country of the investment is USA, Ive also tried to repair the file but no change.     - Can't get Money 2006 Premium to download upgrade I purchased and downloaded the premium edition of Money 2006, installed it as per instructions, logged in with the same passport as I used to purchase it, imported my existing money files and exited it. Then I ran it again told it to go ahead and download the upgrade files.... it just sat there at 1% for over 2 hours!! I'm on DSL so I know it's not my speed. I've tried the steps others have mentioned elsewhere here, setting my intranet security settings to low, turned off my anti-virus and firewall (Trend Micro PC_Cillin Internet Sceurity 2006) and rebooted my machine, created a new user with Admin rights. Restarted Money, told it to create a new file, logged in with the correct passport... and still NOTINHG!!!!! I've dropped almost $70.00 on this thing and it won't even let me do a simple "Find and Replace" until its "Finished the upgrade...." To top it off when I try to go through the support site and submit a support request the Microsoft PID Sniffer can't find my program ID/Serial number. When I try to enter it manually it tells me it's not a valid number!!!     - Upgrade to Money 2006 Deluxe Hi there Group Totally bummed out with the new money. Just got a new machine preloaded with 2006 standard. I have been using Money 2000 ever since it came out and love it. But the new OEM version did not have the cash flow tools that I pretty much live on. So I bought the upgrade on line from Microsoft. Now when I go to reports--> cash flow, it says that Money is updating and it gets stuck at 1%. I have found a lot of info on this and have tried the following fixes from Google groups and other sources: 1. Log with an alternate account with admin privledges, start a new money file, see if the download works 2. Disable the Windows XP firewall 3. Put my machine in my hardware firewall's DMZ 4. Reduced the security on my IE under both profiles and so on... to make matters worse, I cannot even get an email support thread started with Microsoft as the Microsoft validation tool is unable to locate my product number and when I manually type it in, the system says that my product number is invalid. On jan 12, 05, "they" sold the 1234.56 shares, and bought 1277.88 shares of ticker bptaz. How do I treat it? Split is bad, because of all the fractions. Also, after the split, when I try to do a name change, I get an error, because the "new" name is already in my portolio :-( I am thinking of selling all, and then buying all with the funds - the one problem I see - the "new" purchase, if I sell anything soon, will not figure cost basis as long term, which would be very messy: consider that there was a reinvestment of dividend jan 12, 2004 of 1 share.     - Investment Account Problems I have Premium 2006 & Win98SE, and mainly use Money to track my investment accounts. But I'm having trouble. 1. I just did a few stock trades out of my retirement account, but when I did an update the trades did not show up in my Money register. I finally entered it in manually, but why did Money not do it automatically? BTW, I did a reconcile but that did not do it either. 2. After the sale, the proceeds did not show up in the Cash portion of the account. But if I look in the upper right corner of the Cash Transaction screen I have a line that says Bank Balance with the amount of the transaction.     - Missing scrollbars, currency problems, auto-signin, et al Recently upgraded from Money 2004 to Money 2006 deluxe solely for the support for the Bahamian dollar and I'm having some issues. Apologies if these have been asked already; I went back a few pages and couldn't find the answers elsewhere. 1) Fairly often, when I expand the Category dropdown, there is no vertical scrollbar. I haven't pinpointed why this happens because it is intermittent. Often, I can shutdown and restart Money and it will go away. 2) My base currency is US dollars. I have a mortgage account in Canadian dollars and am paying it from a Canadian account. If I go to the mortgage account and make a regular loan payment using the Canadian account, I get a currency conversion dialog box that indicates that the account I'm paying the mortgage with is in US dollars. I checked the account properties and that's not the case. And when I make the payment from the Canadian account (selecting Loan payment: mortgage as the category which can be an issue; see #1 above), I don't have any problems. It's only when I try to make the mortgage payment from the mortgage account. 3) How can I get Money to auto-sign-in like I did with Money 2004? Better yet, how do I disconnect my file from Passport. I mistakenly set up my account with Passport and now can't remove the connection. Incidentally, the way you set up a file with Passport support is unintuitive. You have to Decline a license agreement to trigger it. (Suppose I've just indirectly admitted that I don't read license agreements.) 4) This is more of a minor annoyance because I don't do it much (read: at all). When you start to create a new file, it seems there's no way to cancel the process without shutting Money down completely. 5) Tried to e-mail Microsoft support and I can't find my Product ID. The support page claims it's on the About Money box but it isn't on mine. Mine has only a serial number. Against my better judgment, I have registered the product. 6) For some reason, the Royal Bank in the Bahamas supports downloading to Quicken but not Money. (Took them forever to support Money in Canada, too.) At one point, I thought I could import the .qfx file with the Money Importer but it doesn't seem to work.     - Foreign Currency Trading Hi, I am using Money 2005. I have started to do some trading in foreign currency to diverse a little from stock trading. Can anyone suggest what is the best way to reflect these transactions in Money. I thought at first to open an investment account, with cash transactions, and buy and sell the currncies like stocks. The currency being the "stock". However as my base currency is different from the trading currencies, the real profit/loss from the transactions changes every time the exchange rates for money are updated. For example: My base currency is GBP and I trade EUR/USD. The profit or loss is recorded in Money in USD, but the profit from the broker is credited or debited in GBP. Eveytime the GBP/USD exchange rate changes, so does the actual profit/loss recorded in Money. WRONG!!! I thought that the only other way is to record the profits/losses in GBP in an ordinary Asset or similar account against a category like capital gains/loss. Does anyone have a better solution? QIF export/import has numerous limitaitons. Loan accounts do not export.
Payee and Account Details do not export. Category Groups do not export. (But
who cares about Category Groups?) The list goes on and on......

I developed a workalike schema in Money and moved data via reports and
"export to excel". I got loan accunts that way, but still left lots of data
hopelessly behind.
