I upgraded to Money 2006 from 2004 because I could not resolve
'Starting Balance Discrepancy' problem. I have had these before and
managed to fix them by forcing the balance to the right value but even
Cal Learner's technique did not work:

>If you wish to start fresh and declare an account balanced, you can
>mark all entries balanced. Select to show only unreconciled
>transactions. Sort by date, and go to the oldest transaction.
>Hold down Cntl+Shift+M and let auto-repeat work thru the
>transactions until none are left showing. Then balance making the
>starting and ending balance match the known balance. Choose the
>balance date to be the day after your last transaction. This is
>not the normal procedure.

So I reluctantly 'upgraded' as I had a copy I had picked up cheap at
Costco a while back.

The starting balance problem went away after the conversion to 2006.

Presumably I should now be able to download online statements again
automatically but only until September 08. I have not tried this yet.

I have seen mention on this NG of not being able to import OFX files
downloaded manually into 2004 after the 2004 version expired however I
WAS able to do that. I hope I will be able to do that with the 2006
version after September!

So far I have encountered one problem with Money 2006, I am not able
to convert transaction entered in one currency to another currency.

For example I receive broker statements for a multi-currency account.
I have been separating these into multiple accounts. So I move some
transactions using 'Cut and Paste to Account' from say a USD account
to an AUD account. The USD transaction remains in USD, this is a new
feature compared to 2004. However it is not what I want, for report
purposes I need all amounts in one currency. There is a currency
converter accessible by right-clicking the amount box but it will not
force the currency to change.

Is there a way to do this?
