    - Any idea how to delete a custom portfolio view??? Anytime I select a custom portfolio view within Money 06 Deluxe Trial, it crashes Money and I have to reinstall (and not select that particular view) in order to use the Portfolio Manager function w/in Money. Money '05 Deluxe did the same thing, hence my "upgrade" to '06 Deluxe Trial. In what I thought was more than a strange coincidence, the same thing happened when I used Money online through MSN. It crashed Internet Explorer and now if I select Portfolio online, Internet Explorer must close. Any potential solutions other than deleting the view are most welcome. Thanks.     - Need support on 2006 - Trial uninstalled my 2004 - NOW WHAT? I am trying to get my budget working. The 2004 money that I had calculated it incorrectly. I just installed the trial version of 2006 and bought a new copy of 2006 and am waiting for Amazon to ship it. So I am using the trial. When I go to customer support for online chat (as the 2006 budget program has the SAME PROBLEM), it won't let me proceed as the Trial does not have a product ID. Wow - Talk about your Kafka-esqe problems! Can someone (Microsoft) or other tell me how to get support on this system?     - Why is Money so Buggy I have been using Money 2004 for probably a year. I am constantly encountering bugs that make it very difficult to accurately keep track of things. I download statements every few days from my bank. I go through every transaction and verify them. Every week or two I make sure that the total money gives me is the same as the total the bank gives me and I balance the account. So why is it I am suddenly off by 26 cents and the problem goes back as far as the account is being tracked. I would have balanced only a couple of weeks ago and everything would have been fine at the time, so what happened. And why when I try and link a transaction to an occurrence of a bill does it sometimes refuse to do so. It will simply treat it as though I never did the linking. The only way I can get it to link properly is to delete the transaction, enter it manually, and then download the statement again. 3 months ago I started a completely new Money file because my previous file had become so out of whack with all the little bugs that keep cropping up.     - Mortgage doesn't show up in budget Hello. Although I have tried my best to find the answer to my question in the FAQ and on the web I still cannot find it so I hope that you can answer it here. We just bought our first home (4 months ago) and can't seem to get the mortgage payment to show up in the budget. We have entered the mortgage into the system as a new mortgage account (including payment, interest rate, number of payments, etc). Everything works fine except I can't get the payments to show up in the budget. I've added every category to the budget that I can think of that the mortgage might be under.     - msmoney 2003: Strange Capital Gains Behavior in 2003 My version of money from 2003 is showing strange capital gains behavior in the tax reporting. I recently ran the report and it stated that my capital gains for the year was over 2,500,000. However, if I run a report with the individual buys and sells and do the calculations manually, the capital gains are significantly lower. Since I do not have the 2,500,000 in my account, I am going to assume that I am correct and that money has an error. I have narrowed down the problem to just one account.     - T-Bill recording I'm using Money2006. I bought $50k worth of 13-week T-Bills. I defined 13wkTBill as a security. When I try to enter this transaction, I put in Quantity 1, Price $50,000, and it calculates the total as $500. ???? If I enter quantity 100, price $50k, then the total is $50k.     - Money 2006 - Editing Cateroies Hi, Ive got all my accounts and transactions set up in Money 2006. I had to inut a lot of these manually and so now Id like to go back and tidy up the categories so that theyre all consistent for my reports. I can find a single pace where I can edit these. I want to move some to be a subcategory of another. Tools->Settings->Categories just brings up adialog where I can remove unused categories, or add all from the default list again.     - WHy does MOney import transactions in closed accounts? I have two banks set up with the same bank, with two different user/password combos. That's because we have accounts with different people accessing them (wife, daughter, husband), but there is overlap on the two accounts also (for example, joint checking). I am using Money 2006. I have carefully set up and resetup these accounts to only bring down the transactions into a specific account (ie checking) one time, yet it creates new accounts for all of them in both user/password pairs. I close the accounts I don't care about, but Money still downloads transactions to them! SO for example, it creates a second credit card account, a second checking account, etc. All closed, but all download transactions anyway! I have to change reports to not include closed accounts, and it creates dupe payees when I don't accept the transactions. I have this problem with other accoutns too (like mutual funds).     - J.P. Morgan Chase bank changes I just got a message from JP Morgan Chase Bank that we need to make changes to our setup in order to continue getting their downloads for Money. The instruction are 12 pages long (in PDF format) and seem rather complicated and involve canceling our existing on-line accounts with Chase. There is no explanation at all about why they are making these changes. Does anyone know (or can figure out) what is going on?     - Money 2005 Report Error Hi Folks, I have a report problem that I have not been able to solve. I have looked in the newsgroup's FAQs web page and not found anything related to this problem. The problem is that I ran a Transactions by Category report (the canned one, not a favorite) using a subcategory that I later (after running the report) deleted. Now when I try to run the Category by Transaction report, the report starts to open but then immediately encounters an error and takes me back to the Reports main page. I am guessing that the Transactions by Category report is trying to open using the deleted subcategory (last used) and not finding it, generates an error. These are the things that I have tried to do to fix it, without success: * re-creating the subcategory (with data) and running the report * re-installing Money 2005 Does someone have a suggestion? I am new to this newsgroup and appreciate the time that you all have put into it. I have used Money for many years and learned lots in reading over the FAQs. Both my checking and savings are from the same institution. The date for my savings account will update to close to the current day when I download the info. But I see that the Canadian Version is based on the Standard Edition, and this software is missing some very usefull features such as Cash Flow Analysis.     - Money 2004 UK and Money 2006 U.S. Hi, I have been using Money 2004 UK version for all my accounts (UK and U.S. based). Now I live in the U.S. and just installed Money 2006 Premium (U.S. version) on the same laptop. Since I my salary is in US$ and I pay into a 401(k), I want to use the U.S. version's budgeting and planning features, but since I have accounts and investments in the UK, I want to retain and analys/ze those accounts using my UK Money package. When I installed the U.S. version, it tried to convert my UK .mny file but thought the file was corrupted. Later, I uninstalled the US version of Money and tried to use my pre-existing .mny file in the UK version, but it wouldn't recognis/ze my password. I created a new money file for my US accounts with a separate name, but still couldn't access the existing file. Can someone advise how I can use the UK and U.S. versions of Money without the U.S. version preventing me from accessing the UK file?     - Citi Card not updating when starting Money 2006 I have a few credit cards and bank accounts set up for online updates. My Citi Card account is the only one where you can specify the frequency for updating. I have it set for "Every Day". When I first sign into Money 2006 in the morning it automatically performs an online update for all my cards and banks - except my Citi Card account.     - Upgrading from Money 98 to 2006 Problems Hi all, I am running Money 98 on a Windows 98 machine. I have a new machine that is running Windows XP Pro. I downloaded the Money 2006 Trial version to see if I can bring my Money 98 files in. When I try to open the Money 98 file I receive the following message: "The file maybe corrupted or is not a Money file. If you chose the correct file and it would not open, you can try to repair this file or restore a recent backup" I have tried to repair the file but was told that the database was invalid. When I try to restore from a backup, it says that the file cannot be located, is read only, or that I do not have the permissions to do this. Is this occurring because I am using the trial application? I thought from reading other posts that the file could be converted if it was done on an XP machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - How can I prevent Money from automatically loading previously downloaded statements for reconciliation? I am using Money Standard 2000. I have always downloaded my bank statements via the web and then, when I have chosen to do so, imported the downloaded statements into Money for reconciliation. That way, I can wait to import the statements until after I have hand entered the transactions for a particular period, which is what I prefer. I recently bought a new computer and installed Money. I had not entered data into Money since last April, although I had downloaded .ofc statements from my bank at regular intervals. When I opened Money today, it immediately opened my most recently downloaded statement for reconciliation. I can?t figure out how to configure the program not to do that, and don?t recall how I so configured it on my old computer. I can?t find anything in Tools/Options that covers this.     - When do uncashed electronic payments get re-credited to my account I sent an electronic payment via Money 2004 to a friend, but before she received it we worked out some other compensation. When she received the $700 check, she tore it up instead of cashing it. However, even before she received the check, $700 has already been taken out of my account! When do I get this money back? Yes. Go to Categories&Payees. How you get there varies with version.
Select Categories and then select a particular category. Note the
Modify, Move, Delete buttons at the bottom.

I'm using 2006 Premium. I got to them by highlighting my paycheck and
clicking on "see payee details" and then i was able to click on
categories...is there an easier way?
