I have noticed the past few times I have tried to get updates, I get the
following error:

Money encountered an error processing the downloaded file ('SMRTINET.INI').

Any ideas???
Chris

Chris,

I was encountering the same error and followed these steps to correct it.

1. Open Control Panel.
2. Open Internet Options.
3. Click on "Delete Files..." (Temporary Internet Files).
4. Click on "Delete Cookies..." (although I'm pretty sure this step isn't required)
5. Open and close Microsoft Money again...the error should be gone.

You can also access the Internet Options via Internet Explorer (Tools > Internet Options)

Hope this helps!
Jake

Hi Chris,

It's been around for over 2 weeks... seems like no one is in a hurry to get
rid of it for some reason. If you find a way to get rid of it, please post
it here.

Take care,
John

I find that by doing Money Updates a second time right away can make
the error indication go away. But since the primary thing that comes
over potential updates is how to handle new financial institutions,
it is reasonable to ignore the error in most cases. If you go to set
up a bank and don't find yours, then you would want to make sure you
had the latest updates.

Still a bug, but one without much actual harm for most-- unlike some
other problem that have occurred.

There are several posts in different threads discussing how re-doing
the update will fix the problem without having to change anything.

I wonder if all the users with problems have zone alarm or another
software firewall. ZA has adaptive learning capabilities and could be
blocking at first, and then learning to allow it thru the second time.

Good thinking, but I don't have Zone Alarm.
