I have been using this program for 3 days (Money 2004). I
just got it all figured out and my information put in.
All of the sudden it crashes and will not start up again.
I uninstalled and reinstalled. I think it may be the data
file but, dont know where to find it. The error I get is:
AppName:msmoney.exe
AppVer: 12.0.0.613
ModName: mspfctl0.dll
ModVer: 12.0.0.613
Offset: 00018412

Help! What can I do??

Start by trying to open the sample data file (typically located in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money) by double-clicking on it from Windows
Explorer. If the sample file works, see http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=104.

If the sample file doesn't work, see http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=130.
I'd particularly think of the msxml3 voodoo from your description.

Where is the data file? See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=109.

Money crashes when opening a data file? See
http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=131.

Reinstall from the CD. You will not lose existing data in the
process-- even if you have to uninstall Money before re-installing.

If you cannot get it running, check back.

Once running, click Help. Carefully write down the Serial Number.
Write down the version information. If the problem reoccurs,
contact Microsoft.

Ok, I could get the program to run with the sample file
only. It would let me begin to build a new file with the
assistant but, as soon as the assistant was complete it
would give me the same error.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I used
the repair utility on my old .mny file and it told me
nothing was wrong but, as soon as I opened it, BAM! same
error every time. I have Norton's anti virus but I
disabled the auto protect. I checked the registry
permissions and they are set to full access. I do not get
any errors on install and again the sample file works
fine. I ran the compatibility utility in XP and it still
crashes.

Any More Ideas??

My solution:
Assuming XP, open all temp folders in the "Documents & Settings" tree using
explorer.
Delete anything you see in the temp folders.
Reboot & try again. Worked for me.
