    - More Vista money file problems As I previoulsy posted, every so often, my money file turns into a tmp file with a leading squiggle ... I started opening the file instead of the program and verified that it is in my documents. I must be something to do with an automagic cleanup or defrag of Vista.     - Loan to Cash accounting Hi All Is there any ways to book loan proceeds other than income? For example I take a loan to purchase a car and some misc items. So I create the loan account with the repayment terms etc. Then the bank gives me the cash. The cash is then used to purchase the assets. To be able to reflect the purchases, I have to post cash received from the bank as income. In QuickBooks or Quicken an accounting entry would have created by transferring from the loan account to the cash account and the individual purchases recorded accordingly. However, when you use money and set up the loan, no corresponding values are received on the asset side and the loan proceeds must be booked as an income?     - 2007 Money Issue I hope someone can help me here. I previously used Money 2003 on XP. Just received a new PC with Vista. I ordered Money 2007 from the Miscrosoft website. It loads correctly and works fine after install. Once I import my 2003 data or copy the 2003 Money File over the 2007 Money file I begin to have an issue. Money 2007 takes anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to open the file. I can click bills and calendar but once I click Home it takes another 5 minutes to get there. Any ideas on what could be happening.     - Need help w/Money 2008 I downloaded the current version of Money and tried it out. I converted from v 2003 and entered a bunch of data and like it. I went to Amazon and purchased what I assumed to be the same version as the download trial. Of course, the copy I bought is older than the version I downloaded and I now cannot open my file with Money 2007. I uninstalled 2007 and reinstalled v 2008 but I can't find any way to "back rev" it so I can use my paid for copy of Money 2007.     - Incorrect Values in several areas of money I recently had to do a restore of my files from a flash drive. After the restore the 'checkbook' on my checking account showed the correct balance but everywhere else ('previous balance' under 'balance an account ' screen, in the cash flow forecast, on the home page where it shows account balances) it shows the balance of 999,999,999,999.     - Credit Card Downloaded Transactions I download my credit card transactions without any problems but I have to manually each time when i accept the transaction, assign it to a budget category In Quicken, it would "learn" or I could assign a company name to a sepcific category and each time credit card transactions were downloaded, they would automatically be assigned.     - tracking total portfolio value How do you track the total value of a portfolio or investment account over time, on a daily basis? I want to be able to get a line chart of my portfolio value. I have dug through all of the reports and tried to create custom ones, but all I have been able to get is a line chart of monthly values, not daily. I know that the daily total is stored, because on the investing home page it shows the total value for 30 days ago. For instance, today it is showing the value for 7/28/07. You are right, the date on the Money box says 2004, but I realised later that it is the 2005 version - thank you Microsoft for such clear labeling! And about my older version, recently having read so much in forums about Money, I am beginning to doubt that it was a Canadian version. It did not have online function for canadian banks (only US banks which I did not use). And it came preinstalled with Microsoft Works. So I'm guessing it was Money 2003 US version. But as I said my notebook has crashed so I only have the backup version saved on an external drive. What course of action do you suggest? It has 4 years of my financial records which I don't want to give up on easily. The import/ export thru QIF does not help me as I am now just hanging on to the 2003 back up files without the programme installed on my new computer. Thanks for your help, Saman.     - Issue with Loan Accounts Hi Everyone, I have been having this issue for a while - but just now trying to figure out what's happening. I have several loans (including car, equity, etc.) which I have set up on Money 7. Sometimes the interest and principle are calculated correctly - but more often, the entire sum of the payment is allocated to principle (as viewed in the account register).     - Microsoft Money Deluxe 2005 update failing Hi, I was running Microsoft Money Deluxe 2005 on my computer. I installed Money directly from the original CD. Some time after Money was updated over the Internet to version 1105. Today I installed Money on a new computer and now I cannot open the data file. I have investigated this online and found that you have to create a new data file and open Money with this data file and let Money automatically update itself to version 1105. This will enable me to open my original data file. However, I am not able to complete the Money update. I have tried many times (> 20) but the update fails. It start downloading but after a random period of time (2%, 10%, 30% etc downloaded) the download fails with the message saying that I 100MB or more disk space (I have plenty and no quota). I have searched online and found several solutions to this problem but none of them works for me. Can someone please give me a solution that does not require me to have Money automatically download the update?     - Severe problem with "Performance by Investment Type" report I have been using the ""Performance by Investment Type" report in Microsoft Money for years. I am using the 2007 "Premium" version now. I just noticed this problem today. I *think* it is new, but I am not entirely certain. One of the line items in this report is a money market fund. I classified it as a mutual fund in MS Money. Like most money market funds, this one has a stable share price of $1. I make frequent "buys" and "sells" of this fund. The overall trend is down, I have been selling more than buying. Today, the "Performance" report shows the following bogus columns: Realized Gain / Loss: 0.00 Return for Period: (large negative number) % Rate of Return: -15.18 Annual % Return -44.29 The last number is especially troublesome. It should be a small positive number, reflecting the modest interest rate that the money market fund pays out. So now I doubt the accuracy of this report for all my investments. Is there a solution to this problem? Perhaps I should switch to a different report? I am most interested in the total annualized return (last report column) for my investments, for various periods of time. I have bought and sold a stock and I thinkl the software is keeping track of past investments. For example, lets sat my current stock market value say is $1000 and cost is $800.     - Ultrasoft Money: incomplete register Hi, I've found Ultrasoft Money to be brilliant for keeping a note of expenditure when I'm on the move which I can then sync up with MS Money on my PC at home. However, yesterday I noticed that in Ultrasoft Money the register for my main bank account only has about five of my most recent transactions stored, then a handful from May and that's it!     - "The e-mail address or password is incorrect" error Hello All, I have been experiencing a very weird issue where my log in to Money is denied using my Windows Live ID for a specific computer profile. Once I start Money and type in my ID/password, I get a "The e-mail address or password is incorrect" popup after a few seconds of login attempt. I can log in using the same .mny file from a different Windows profile using the same Live ID and password, and I can still log in offline to the file using the ID if I choose offline mode. Logging in to my Live account through IE has no problems, and once I log in using offline mode I can update accounts and quotes within MSN without problem. I have tried various IE security settings and install/reinstalling of multiple Money versions, clearing registry "Money" entries and AppData entries but the problem doesn't seem to go away. I could log on to a different account each time I use money, but I'd rather have it work on my domain account which would be a hassle to re-create. Has anyone experienced a similar issue before? Version: Happens in all Money 2006, 2007 and Plus OS: Vista Windows Firewall: OFF (through service) UAC: Off (tried on, too) IE settings: tried low security, disabled fishing filter, disabled protected mode, allow all cookies, low privacy mode, added msn.com, live.com, passport.com, passport.org, money:// to trusted sites, saved log-in info from IE Windows Live Signin Assistant: Tried unintalling File: I've tried DB repair (no error detected), loading from backup, removing and adding Live ID from a different computer, etc. I don't think it's the file itself since offline login works fine.     - Income & Expenses Report I am confused by the Transfers at the end of the Income & Expenses report. It seems to double count on the bottom line. If I purchase $1000 in stock from my savings, the transfer shows a -$1000 (negative because I have taken $1000 out of my cash and transfered it to an investment). If I sell that stock for $1500. My report shows $500 capital gain in income, and a positive tranfers of $1500 (positive because I have transfered the money back into my cash). However these are added and thus shows a positive $2000 on the bottom line. It doubled the bottom line impact of the capital gain. It does this with dividends to, A $100 dividend shows up as $100 of income and a positive $100 transfer - thus a $200 positive impact. Why does this report double these figures?     - Bills Summary: Unable to select multiple bills I installed Money Plus Deluxe yesterday and converted my ongoing Money 2005 Deluxe file. In Money 2005 I was able to select multiple items in the bills summary page using the Ctrl or Shift keys (as one does in any other application). This enabled me to forecast what my running checking account balance would be after paying multiple bills (located towards the bottom of the screen). Money Plus Deluxe does NOT allow me to select more than one item. I can select any one I want, but only one at a time. This is very frustrating. I am using the Advanced bills summary. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $24,641.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's Certainly worth $6.00. Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works? REQUIREMENTS: You must have a verified paypal account. If you do not have an account you can go to www.paypal.com...... and get a free account. I would suggest signing up for a business account because it does not limit you to the amount of money you can receive. Example: with a Personal account you are limited to receiving $500.00 a month and withdrawing $500.00 a month. And trust me you WILL be receiving more than $500.00 a month! Like I mentioned before In order to place the initial $6 into your account, you will have to verify your bank account with paypal (which may take a few days). STEP 1: Send, through paypal, $1.00 to each email on the below list. Make the subject of the payment "Email List" and in the comments, write "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR EMAIL LIST."     - Money 2005 does not open or restore my files Used Money 2004 several years on XP. Installed Vista Business last week. The only Money setup disk I have is 2005 Standard. Installed it and got the updates. Set up an account named (mybank)Banking that shows $0 balance. When I try to open .mny file from Money, the program sends me to the sign-in window. The fields in the sign-in window are auto-filled. It does not matter whether I check the Work Offline field or not, the same thing happens. There is a brief glimpse of a progress popup, then it goes right back to the Sign-in window. If I ask Money to find all backups, it comes up with two files, My money 0.mbf and My money 1.mbf. I don't know which one to restore. Too confusing for this old man. And to top it off, my files contain 5 years of data. No way I'm switching to some other program. What am I doing wrong? Turns out since I use Quicken as well you have to make a choice, either you download to MS Money or download to Quicken. I now know I simply can't access BOA through MS Money because I really am prone to Quicken. Personally, I think from what information I have gathered thus far "Yodlee Money Center" is the way to go as far as monitoring accounts goes even though it has some limitations at the present time.     - Check Numbers, Epays, and Bill Pay Howdy, I 'm hoping to open up a new checking account, and use MSN Bill Pay "epays" for approximately half of the checks that I write. However, since Microsoft Money requires that all the check numbers be unique, I want to make sure that the epay check numbers do not overlap with the printed check numbers.     - "Last Balanced" date is inaccurate I balance virtually all of my accounts monthly. On several occasions since the installation of Money 2007 I have found that the message in the lower left of the account register screen - where it says when the account was last balanced - is wrong. It is sometimes 1 to several months off. I'm not sure it is affecting any of the reconciled transactions but I have also had several instances of having to 'force' the reconcilation of accounts because Money's starting balance does not match what the starting balance is on the statement. When I check Money against the last statement, the STATEMENT is correct and Money is not.     - Why does Microsoft Money suck so much now? It used to be good. I'd happily pay double to get back a functioning copy of my Microsoft Money 2001. It quietly downloaded all transactions from everywhere, it never pestered me with ads, it didn't create duplicate accounts and then refuse to merge them, it didn't time limit how long it would run, and every message had a help button explaining what to do. Microsoft: throw out your code base and go back to the 2001 version! Give us a product that works! "The service that allows you to download transactions from MSN Money My Accounts has been disabled.     - Money Plus crash on startup Hi. Has anyone run across this? Money 2007 works fine on this machine. I successfully installed Money Plus Premium on my machine (a decent homegrown unit based on the P35 mobo and a 3.06 Core 2 Duo processor running Vista Premium 32bit). When I try to start it, I get this, and reboots don't help. Any ideas?     - On-line services set up failed with "new & improved" Money update Money 2005 Premium: with the mid-August unannounced update by Microsoft, I lost my ability to go on-line. I reviewed the instructions inside Money and tried to re-set the on-line service but I'm now in a loop that doesn't seem to have any way to back out of it or to move forward successfully. Instead of disabling the account first, which is listed in the long, weary icon version of the update instructions, I went to set up online services and now have the message "complete setup for online services" which apparently will not work because I consistently get a message that says on-line services are temporarily unavailable...at 5 in the morning, 9 in the morning, 5 in the afternoon, 10 at night...I don't think so.     - 401K loan I saw the one article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223174 on how to do a loan for a 401K but...doesnt work very well. I get all the cash and investment account stuff. Just seems like I should have a debit assosicated with the $ I have to payback. Ex. 100,000 401K and take loan for 50,000. Sold stock, transfered cash. Investment is 50,000 now. Where do I account for the fact that I have a 50,000 debit that I have to make monthly payments on. I setup a loan for the 50,000 but then my payments would need to go to the loan and 401K cash accounts. If I trick it to do both reports wont be correct etc. Any Help?     - Error When Starting Money I had to upgrade from Money 2004 to Money 2007 so that I could keep on-line privileges. After I downloaded the upgrade, I get the following error message each time I sign it (after I type my password and hit button): "The place you are trying to reach only functions in the Business Version of Money, and can't be used in the version you are using now. If you want to use this place you will have to upgrade to Microsoft Money Home and Business". If I hit the OK button it continues to Money as if there was not a problem. If I hit the "Send Error Report" button then I get a message stating that Microsoft has not heard of the issue. Has anyone else had this problem? view a report from category expenses. The program closes after the message.
