File Conversion
I have recently upgraded from Money deluxe 2004 to Money Standard 2005,
however the new version will not convert the old file. Is there any way to

Make Money Calculate Investment Interest?
I've got a few low interest investments that I want money to track. They are
GIC's which are sort like a saving's acount with a set interest return. How
do I make money calculate the interest YTD or MTD or anything. When I put in
the interest rate it seems to do nothing.

Is it possible to download share prices in Money from CommSec? We have the
CommSec account, but haven't been able to work out how to automatically
update share prices in Money.

Money 2004; Australia; "standard edition".
Anyone have a way of dealing with taxation imputation of share dividends?
We don't prepare our own tax returns -- have a tax accountant do that -- but
we would like, when we record the dividends in Money, to have a way to
indicate how much of the dividend has been imputed.

unique problem importing qif statements
I'm having a problem that no one else seems to have addressed in this forum.
I use my CheckCard as a debit card when I can, but many stores only support
credit card transactions. For all the credit card transactions, Money
truncates the text for the transaction in the qif file, so that for each
entry it only gets through the first 15 characters or so. In my bank's
system, that only contains the date and "EFT TRANS"-- nothing about the
vendor. So when I import I get a statement that looks like this:

EFT TRANS 10102004
The vendor names all come after the date but Money never sees this.
Debit card transactions work fine because the vendor name is listed first.
Is there a way to fix this so I don't have to go through and change the
vendor name for each credit card transaction?

Has anyone noticed after opening Money 2005 they must sign in to My MSN
again? Another oddity...the email address associated with my passport just
has "XXX" in the email address line (when you log in to My MSN) instead of

I am trying to set up a loan account in Money 2004 and when i get to the part
that asks how is the interest calculated on this loan it doesn't have an
option for me. my interest is calculated daily and charged monthly, payments
are fortnightly. does anyone know how to get around this or if money 2005 has

Early withdrawal from IRA
I using IRS Rule 72(t) to pull money from an IRA to my checking
account. How should I set this up? Money 2002 shows the withdrawal as
an expense (transaction downloaded from Fidelity), which really warps
my Reports, since it is unclassified. Should it instead be treated as
a transfer from IRA to checking? If I do that, Money doesn't allow me
to classify it as an early IRA withdrawal (for tax purposes).

Cannot match downloaded transactions
When my transactions download from MSN to Money 2005, I have no option to
match existing transactions in my register. This worked fine in 2004, but
now everything downloads with the payee info in the notes field and I have no
option to match that with anything that I have already entered (or
automatically entered bills, etc.).

reconciling account
Hi - fairly new to Money (05) and I think I dont understand how the whole
reconciliation thing is supposed to work.
Example - I write a check to someone for 123.45 and I go into the register
and record it. Several days later the bank cashes it, Money downloads it
and asks me if I want to match these 2 transactions. I do - so I hit
accept. Looks good, till the next time Money gets an update from the bank
and it asks me to match it again. And again, and again..... What makes the
match stick for good? Am I doing something wrong? This cant be by
design....

Matching or accepting of downloaded transactions in 05
I FINALLY got my accounts to sync correctlyin Money 2005, however there seems
to be no option for transaction matching or accepting of downloaded
transactions in the register. I always enter my transactions manally as my
bank is a little too slow (IMHO) in posting transactions. In Money 04, when
I downloaded transactions (via MSN Money) it would try to match transactions
I already had with the downloaded ones. If one didn't match automatically,
you could easily make it. Now when I download transactions I just get
duplicates (with no payee listed). Any ideas how to get this functionality

Q1) xfer between accounts
I want to submit an xFer to pay my Visa card from my checking. I have a
checking account and a Visa card at the same bank. Both are setup to
download transactions. After I balance the Credit Card account I'm asked If
I want to pay, then I fill out the form using xfer ast the type of
transaction, after I press submit I get the following message pop-up:
"In order to enter and online transfer, both accounts must be at the sam
bank and set up for direct statements."
Is there something else I need to do with these accounts?
Q2) UI Problem
Sometimes the first column (Account) on the Account List page disapears. I
can only see the "Last Updated", "To Review", "Bank Balance" and
"Adj.Balance" Fields.
I have to restart Money to get it back. It seems that it happens after I
balance, or add transactions to one of my accounts, then go to the account
list page.

Need help on Money 2005 for Monthly Report
In previous versons of Money such as 04 and 03 etc. you are able to view as
many months as you want on montly report. In Money 2005 Small Business,
there is only the choice for monthly report for the previous 12 months. This

I understand that being unable to "accept" transactions is a known problem,
but did anyone get info from a tech on just how long before they come up with
a solution? I also have the deducted deposits problem too. Finally, any of
you having problems with the budget? It's not putting future paychecks
(later this month) into the current month budget.

Printing Laser Standard checks in M2005
Apparently something was "fixed" in Money 2005 that wasn't broken in Money
2004. Using "Laser Standard" as the check type, the line on my checks that
prints the amount in words (e.g., "Twenty-seven and 34/100******") does not
extend across the width of the check anymore. Depending on the amount of the
check, that line might extend anywhere from 25% - 65% across the width of the
check, leaving a noticeable gap. This is the first version of Money where
this has occurred (at least for me). Money Support determined that "this is
how the product works". Has anyone else noticed this and /or found a way

How do I get this to show up on an invoice?

Money 2005 on PC and 2004 on PPC - does not work
Hi,
I've just installed money 2005 on my desktop for the first time and then
tried to install ppc 2004 version (the only available) for my ipaq 2215
(WM2003)...
BUT, the installation does not detect the desktop version, so I dont have
sync available.
Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Money 2003 won't load
Yesterday when I loaded money it gave me a popup with an offer for an
upgrade to Money 2005. I tried to accept the offer. but when I was about to
complete the offer I noticed it had an old email address. This was the email
address that was in MS Passport. I no longer have the ISP that is associated
with that email address.
I didn't want to complete the transaction since I wouldn't be able to
receive emain at that address. So I went to MS passport and tried to change
it. It wouldn't let me change it so I deleted that passport account and made
a new passport account with my current email address.
When I tried to load money, it wouldn't load because it said "The sign-in
name you entered is not associated with this file". I tried using the new
email address I had created, it wouldn't load. I used the old email address,
it wouldn't load. I tried disabling the internet and using the old name, it
still wouldn't load.
Am I screwed or is there a way I can get Money to load so I can access my
file?

Problems uploading Money 2001 Backup
We just upgraded to Windows XP. We saved our Money files to a cd. I loaded
Money 2001 back onto the computer then loaded the cd back on. Our accounts
are not correct. They repeat transactions, they are generally incorrect. What
am I doing wrong?

Can you connect to E*Trade brokerage account
I'm a new Money 2005 user and I have successfully been able set up my online
accounts except one, E*Trade. I keep getting the message "Your accounts
couldn't be updated with infromation from your bank or brokerage".
Called Microsoft and they blame E*Trade, called E*Trade and they didn't even
know Money 2005 was out already.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm I correct in assuming that I use the
same username and password to access the information through Money as I do
from the E*Trade website.

2005 Update Retirement Account Problem
I am having the same problem as discussed in a post on 10/5. Has anyone else
seen this or know of a solution? And btw, I am not running XP SP2, just a
fully updated SP1 system.
I tried everything I could find in the KB to no avail as well.
I am getting really frustrated with how many bugs there are in 2005. I have
used MS Money for years and have never had as many problems as I have with
2005. I can't believe that this product made it out to the public with as
many problems as there are.

M2004 Won't Save Customized Toolbars / Home Page
Unable to find anything in archives or the UFAQ on this...
My Money 2004 file recently stopped saving customized toolbars / home
page. Any changes I make don't "stick".
I've used super salvage, which supposedly found and corrected some
errors, but the problem persists.
Any ideas?

How to delete advanced reports
I have upgraded from Money 2004 STD Australia to Money 2005. Under the new
version, I am unable to rename any favourite reports. All I am able to do is
save them as a new report. However, I am unable to delete the now redundant
report leaving me to guess which reports are current. The renaming facility
used to work in 2004 version. Perhaps is just the right mouse button being

I have three indexes in an investment watch account:
Index - Dow
Index - NASDAQ
Index - S&P 500
Thea above are always at 0.00. I do have other indexes, which update. Why
are the above not updating?

Hi,
i've problem to connect to server.

Valid passport not accepted ("could not be verified")
As with Jason and others, my valid .Net Passport is not accepted by Money
2005 ("Your Sign-In information could not be verified. Please try again
later".) Of course I've verified the Passport for validity.
I suspect that it may be because the passport does not end with @hotmail.com
or @msn.com, but instead ends with @calweb.com.
Is this a known problem? I can get another passport but would prefer that
Money not be broken :-) Is there something else I should try?

facility within the money program, the corruption is said to be fixed, but in
2005 it still does not upgrade and still have the readonly error message.
Then we tried to use the tool on the Money disk (which is supposed to be more
powerful), however, this tool clearly says that we are having an uncorrupted
database. Could anyone give us a solution on this. Much appreciated.

So I order M05 Standard direct from MS, I get the box, and for the first time
since around 1995 I don't have a little sticker on my CD sleeve I'm not
supposed to lose. None of the stickers on the box match the correct format
for the PID.
The problem? My credit union is listed on the website, but not available in
the program itself. Can't complain to MS though, because I need a PID to be

M05 update fails.
Uninstalled M04 and installed M05 over a week ago. M05 said an update was
available. I let it run and it said "Update Complete". Now, EVERY time I
shut down Money, I get "Money is attempting to install an update. To
complete, restart Windows, and then Money". In the last week, I tried the
following to no avail. I've re-run the update several times, deleteted the
mnyupdate.log several times and restored the registry to several previouse
dates. It still gives me this msg EVERY time I shut Money down. Any Ideas or
should I just go back to M04????

Credit Reduction
I went through all the steps with the credit card information. I told it to
target a certain amount I can spend per month with a 0 upfront payment for
principal reduction. Yet it still makes you pay like 60 percent up front to
reduce principal, is money 2005 assuming you win the lottery or something. Tag: OFX12029 Error Tag: 178618
