    - Downloading Credit Card Statements Although I am a new subscriber to this newsgroup, I have used Money for many years. I have Windows XP Pro and Money 2007 Premium. Each month, I pay my credit card statement with a check. I can download my credit card statement from my credit union in .qif format, showing each transaction. I would like to be able to then use the downloaded information to assign each transaction a category and sub-category, all under the check that I wrote. Is there a procedure or FAQ that would detail the steps to accomplish this? I think it should include deleting the payment transaction and somehow modifying any credit transactions.     - Credit Card updates I have 2 credit card accounts in MS Money 2007 that are not setup for online updates, yet every time I restart Money it creates another account and tells me that I have duplicate accounts.     - Money 2007: Password and Offline Access Not Working The Money 2007 home page looks different today. It tells me my password is incorrect. There is also no check box or drop down option to work offline in the lower left corner. Must be an issue on the Microsoft side, but no indication of that from MSFT. What gives?     - Money Keeps Running Money 2007 and Windows XP Pro This has been reported here before. I'm wondering if there is any fix (other than to go get a cup of coffee while Money does its backup and closes). If I close Money and create a backup, and If I change focus to another program/window while Money is doing the backup, then although Money closes on screen, the money process remains (visible in the task manager).     - Upgrade from 2005 I have been using Microsoft Money for several years (about 10). I am currently using 2005. However, I cannot upgrade to the newest version - Money Plus. I receive an error while converting my file. I have tried the Money Repair tool before upgrading and it says my money file is fine. I have traced (I believe) the problem down to a single account. When I open this account, I get the message: Your Account List reflects an incorrect balance because of a minor technical problem with the way Money stores your information. You can see the correct balance in your account register. This issue does not affect your actual account data. Money will automatically try to fix the inconsistency the next time you open Money. For more information, go to Customer Support. BTW - I have moved EVERY transaction from this account into another account. My account register shows $0.00, but my Account list shows $607.52. There are NO transactions in the account register. If I export this account to .qif... sure enough there is a transaction there for $607.52. I cannot delete this account. If I try, I get: This operation cannot be performed. I am stuck in the water. I can't keep using 2005 because it won't let me use online services. I can't upgrade to 2008 because it won't let me. Please help! I have several years worth of data that I really can't re-create by exporting my accounts to .qif and re-importing them.     - Issues with upgrade from Money 2006 to Money Plus I have been working satisfactorily with Money 2006 until I was forced by Microsoft to upgrade to Money Plus. This works fine except for two issues: 1. Every time I start Money Plus I get a message that a program update needs to be installed. If I click OK Money is stopped and it looks as if updates are being downloaded. However this ends with the message that the update is already running. This is not a real problem as I can work by clicking cancel. However I do not know which update I am now missing. 2. Importing bank statements in the form of ofx files always went fine in Money 2006, but no longer works with Money Plus which states that the file is corrupt.     - No email confirmation I purchased Money Plus recently via MS website and Digital River. I am able to use Money Plus just fine for now, but received NO email confirmation and therefore NO activation code. My new version shows a serial number in Help, and DR did bill my credit card without a hitch, but I never received the activation code in my hotmail account.     - My MNY file appears to be corrupt. How best to proceed? [I *do* have a couple of questions; please bear with me as I get to the point...] The last time I reconciled my Money 2007 checking account to my paper statement (about four months ago), it reconciled fine. Now I'm attempting to reconcile the next and following month's statements. When I entered the starting and ending balances on the reconcile dialog box, however, an error appeared that said: "Starting Balance Discrepancy. Money has calculated a different starting balance than the one you entered. To balance your account start with your oldest unreconciled transaction and match each transaction in your account register with the bank statements. Then, mark those transactions as reconciled in your account register. You can always make an adjustment in your account register later if you need to." After I acknowledged that message, Money (2007) locked up on me. After waiting over an hour, I finally killed the process. Now the same thing keeps happening every time I try to reconcile that account. Even *without* attempting a reconcile, if I go the account register and change any transaction from reconciled to unreconciled, Money makes the change, but then freezes up hard a few seconds later. I tried a few backups, but they all manifest the same problem--so whatever happened to my MNY file must have happened some time ago. A Money online chat support had me try a quick/standard/quick repair, but it did not resolve the problem. The support person suggested that I perform the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/178830/en-us (How to export and import account information in Microsoft Money). What is the best way to try to resolve this problem? I've since re-opened my closed accounts, exported all of my accounts to QIF files, and created a new MNY file to import the QIF files into. I'm being prompted/encouraged to associate the MNY file with my Windows Live ID. I did not do that with my existing MNY file; should I do it now? What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages? I recall a thread here a few months back that indicated that those that *did* associate their MNY file with their Windows Live ID would need to go through a one-time process so that (I think) downloads would start working again.     - Background Banking Continually Fails on Vista Folks, I've installed Money Plus as an upgrade to Money 2007. I get a continual failure after any update activity where Microsoft Background Banking has stopped working. I'm not even sure what this is breaking, but it's a new error and I've found no documentation at all on what may be causing it.     - Download Transactions without Auto E-Clear I wanted to be able to import transactions from my OCR software, but have discovered the only option now is to download statements on import. This automatically electronically clears the transaction, so I can't match it up when I download from my bank account. Is there a way to turn off the electronic clear option? I hate it anyhow. Or does anyone know of a way to import transactions that are not a statement? I'm using money 2007. Also have to say I'm with everyone else on losing the cntl function in bill payment to see what the balance will be if I pay bill 2 and bill 5.     - Older 2002 Data Lost When Updating to 2005 When I updated from MSN Money 2002 to MSN Money 2005 the previous several years of 2002 data was not brought in to the 2005 data base.     - M2004 - Weird price and quantity in Portfolio I have just noticed that the quantities and prices for all transactions in some of my investments have been changed, the total is still correct. All quantities are now fractions (always less than what they were) and prices are correspondingly higher and also the price ends with the letter s. What has caused this? How do I prevent it happening again? What is the meaning of the letter s? I now have to go back and edit all my investment entries because the total quantity is now less than it should be.     - Money Plus will not allow sign-in My Money 2005 online updates expired after 2 years, so I accepted the offer to upgrade. I downloaded the upgrade and installed it. However I can not sign in. It gives me a message "The email address or password is incorrect". I can still sign in with Money 2005. Same email address and password. In fact I am signed in to this discussion group with the same Windows live account and password. This is a problem with Money Plus. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.     - PEABODY/PATRIOT COAL SPIN-OFF WON'T RECORD Using Money 2007 Premium and I am finding it impossible to record the spin-off of Patriot Coal from Peabody Energy. After entering all of the information in the various pop-up windows to record a spin-off, I get an error window from Money simply saying "The operation cannot be performed." Have entered other spin-offs in the past without encountering this problem. Same result whether I specify to retain fractional shares or exchange for cash. Anybody experiencing a similar problem?     - Money Overhaul I've seen a number of posts longing for a big overhaul to Money in the near future. There was some speculation that 2008 would be the year since in the past it was approximately every three years. I used to be one of those individuals, always hoping for some great new features. I'm not so convinced any longer. I can't recall anyone being happy with the big change from 2004 to 2005. We've now been getting minor upgrades to the 2005 version each year and in truth, I think this is good. If 2009 has some big overhaul, it will likely be an attempt to even further simplify features and inevitably introduce a whole new group of bugs/problems. I'm relatively happy with Money Plus and I consider myself a power user of Personal Finance Software. I am also currently running Quicken 2008 Premier to compare its features and I still prefer Money over Quicken in numerous ways. My vote would be for Money to continue to address current bugs and continue to introduce one or two new features each year and avoid the overhaul as long as possible.     - Adding Deposits into Bills Page Ok, so I just downloaded the Money 2007 Essentials. I have been using an acient version of Money (98 I believe). In the old version it was very easy to add in upcoming deposits like you would an upcoming bill to mangage my budget.     - MS Money 2008 H&B Invoices - How to add shipping amount...??? I'd like to start using the actual inventory management features and invoicing in MS Money. I've gotten all my inventory added and now I've just made a sale of something that I need to create an invoice for. I go into the invoice and add the Customer information, and during this it asks me how I'm going to ship, which I select U.S. Mail. But that's the last I see about anything to do with shipping. I add my line item to the invoice which sold for $40.00. Another $45.00 needs to get added as the shipping amt (shipping to Turkey if you're curious why so expensive). I don't see how to add this. What I've always done in the past was simply not create invoices in Money. I would create the single deposit transaction and then split it into 2 separate categories: Sales Income and Shipping Paid.     - Isn't there a loan calculate built into MS Money Plus? I've got Microsoft Money Plus Premium edition. It is a nice program and I like it. We're considering either refinancing our home or getting a second mortgage on our home, in order to finance some much needed repairs to the house. So, I just spent 15 minutes or so poking around trying to find a loan calculator, so that I could run some "what if's" experiments. But I couldn't find one in Money Plus!     - Migrating Money 2006 to a new computer Migrating my Money 2006 to a new computer. Installed Money 2006; as soon as I opened it up, it downloaded my online file, but everything is a complete mess - for example, one account I now have four copies of, and when I go to merge duplicates, none of the four is available for for merging. Brought back as new accounts I paid off and closed three years ago. I have a backup file from the old computer, but will it even work, if everytime I go online, it overwrites my good file with all this crap? There's ten years worth of data in here, and now it's a shambles.     - Update services- pay twice? I understand if the Microsoft money 2005 support is ending. I understand if there won't be any updates from Microsoft. I don't understand why I can't get bank account updates from my bank. I've read other threads that say things like 'you need gas to run your car', etc... but in this case, my bank also charges me to let money connect to it. So we are talking about 2 people who are charging me for the same data being transferred. 3 if you count my ISP... so what is the reason Microsoft needs additional money in order to allow this transaction to take place?     - Epay vs Apay I recently purchased the newest version of Microsoft Money and am trying to understand the difference between bill Epay and Apay. I have many bills that my bank pays automaticaly for me and has been doing so for many years.     - Investment Summary Problem in "My Money" I know this is more of an annoyance than a major problem but - The main page of Money Plus (and the versions before it) show an "Investment Summary". This should only show securities that you actually own along with "Last" (price) and "Change". I have just sold a number of funds and now have quantities of 0 for them in their respective accounts. Most cleared off "Investment Summary". However 2 are still there even though they are verifiably no longer owned. I remember running into this before and believe that it somehow is a rounding error somewhere in the software. I don't remember what I did but I got those to disappear the last time.     - Money Plus Premium 2008 NOT working on Windows 2000 Server This is the first time I've purchased a Microsoft product that says it works on Windows XP that didn't also work on Windows 2000 Server (even though W2KS is almost never in the list of supported operating systems). When you try to install it on W2KS, you're prompted that the software expects Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. Amazing that the Installer doesn't even know what operating system it's on! Copy the key (hyphens and all), and paste into any of the
boxes/spaces from Money plus.

This looked odd because you are using large fonts. The copy/paste
is easier than changing your font size.
