Enter new transaction - how to make "Next Check Number" automatic?

I enter all of my credit card receipts into an account. I always use
"Assign Next Check Number" so I can keep track of them. Is there any
way to get MS Money to automatically assign this number each time,
rather than have me click and change the option each time?

(Did that make sense?)

Yes it made sense and no there isn't. But, if the last transaction you
entered had a check number, the next one you enter will automatically have
the next check number. Since I enter check numbers by hand incredibly
rarely, I personally find even this annoying.
