M07: How to delete old listings in Manage Online Services?
Hi,
I recently cancelled my MSN Bill Pay service so I could use my bank's free
bill pay. When I go to Manage Online Services in M07, MSN Bill Pay is still
listed under Online Service Providers/Bill Payment Providers, and under the
To Do column, it says "Set up online services". I also have another
obsolete lisitng on the same page under Bank or Brokerage, a bank I no
longer use, with the same admonition to "Set up online services". I can't
seem to find a way to delete these old listings. Does anyone know how?

Can't update credit card after SP2
I have Money 2007 Premier and XP SP2.
Before updating Money, I could pull info from two Capital One accounts. Now,
both fail, usually with no info other than suggestions to try again or
contact customer service. However, on the last try, one account was reported
as having trouble at the 'bank'. I found a somewhat relevant article in
on-line help but can't get back to it. It did mention repairing the file; I
tried this and it reported no errors in the file.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Cannot log into Money 2005?
I've been using Money 2005 Deluxe for a few years now and haven't experienced
any major problems until now. As everyone knows, you cannot do any online
banking, regardless of whether you use Microsoft's bill payment service, your
banks, or whatever, without having a Passport account and signing in. Well, I
can no longer sign in. I can only log into my file by signing in offline.
This just started this morning. Upon attempting to sign in I almost
immediately get an error that says "Your sign-in information could not be
verified. Go online or select the Work offline check box, and then reenter
your sign-in information." This allows me to access my accounts and enter
checks and look at balances but I can't update my information or pay bills
online which is how I pay 80% of my bills. This is a major issue for me
currently and I have no idea what has caused it or how to fix it. My Internet
access is up. I can check email and surf the web with no problems whatsoever.
Money is the only application having any problems. Has anyone else ever
experienced anything like this or have any idea how to fix it? Thanks in
advance.

Money 2007 Won't Install on Windows 2000??
What's the story, Microsoft?
Hard to believe that Money 2007 won't install on Windows 2000!
2000 is still supported by Microsoft, yet their new Money version
rejects it.
I'm not buying XP, just to run Money. 2000 works fine for me on
several machines for all of my computing needs.
I'm going to run Money 2006, and start testing a move to Quicken.
Open source or Linux money software still has a way to go, so that's
out. If not, I'd probably be gone from Money, and Windows as well!
I can't imagine what feature that XP has relative to 2000 that is so
critical as to make Microsoft abandon a significant part of the Money
user base. Then again, responsiveness to customer need has never been
a big part of Money support. Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219204

How do you treat a 401k rebalance?
When you rebalance shares in your 401K, how do you input the transacation?
Do you use the "add shares" and "remove shares" or the "buy" and "sell" If
you use the buy and sell transactions, it triggers "realized" gaines or
losses. If you use the "add share" or remove share transaction, the "Return

Amortizing Mortgage Incorrectly
Hello,
Money 2005. I have a mortgage entered in Money which is about two years old.
Somewhere along the way (mid 2006), it began to amortize incorrectly. When I
check my monthly statement from the mortgage company, the principal and
interest allocations were different. I went back with my statements and
started to manually reallocate the payments. The first was off by some
amount I cant remember (not more than $.50 or so). When I adjusted the first
one, I received the following message:
In the [Mortgage Company Name] loan account, there are loan payments
following the one you are changing. Do you want Money to recalculate the
principal and interest distribution for these payments?
I told it Yes thinking that it would begin amortizing correctly. It did not
work. The next month I opened was off by $.01. To correct, I had to add $.01
to the principal and subtract the same from the interest. Again, I received
the message, and again said yes. I then opened the following payments, all
of which were off by the $.01. I manually adjusted each time, and chose yes
when I received the message. Obviously there is something wrong with the way
its amortizing. I know it probably seems trivial to worry about the one
cent, but I would just like it to be accurate.
Any ideas on how I can make it work correctly from here on out? I appreciate
the help.

Money 2007: how to set up a 401k account
First let me say that as a newbie i have learnt so much about money
though this group. I have managed to set up my main credit card,
checking and CD accounts for which I do an automatic download. But I'm
not sure how to set up a 401k account and do that automatic download. I
tried it via Banking but it seems that Charles Schwab retirment
services don't offer automatic download. There manual download doesn't
work either.
So how can can set up a 401K account in which I can enter transactions
manually? I tried other accounts but it asked me to set up investments
which I'm not sure is the right way. Also how do I link this account
such that my paycheck withdrwal automatically get reflected there based
on the % I have set for different investments? Totally lost here..

>Hmmm, strange eh.
>I mentioned all this goings on to my boyfriend, who works for the
>British intelligence service, and he assures me this sort of thing
>never goes on.. not ever...honest.
>Though he said the name was familiar...
it does go on, although it's an open question who does it.
Some time ago there were press reports of an Army intelligence person
called Jones who claimed Diana and Hewitt had been photographed in a
compromising position... he said he'd been doing this as part of an
Army unit which had previously operated in Northern Ireland.
Then Hewitt said he'd been told the same thing by some Army people,
and that they were threatening to release the tapes unless they
curtailed their liaison... as per usual everyone denied everything,
painted Jones as the "Jones twins" - not very original in how
they deal with their perceived enemies, are they?
You have to wonder how they manage to achieve this sort of
surveillance though. Audio you can understand, it's possible to put
a microphone through the wall, and apparently there exist devices
which will retrieve sound from a laser beam bounced off a window -
sounds sci-fi, but there's a well known surveillance electronics
company in London which sells these things.
But how would you get video out of a room, unless you had actual
physical access in order to plant a device for pickup? We're not
talking about looking in from afar, but an actual device within
the room. You could either drill through the wall and shove a
pickup through; or you could supply a trojan device with a hidden
pickup inside; but most likely, you would have to physically break
into your target room to plant a camera. That's not an infeasible
option; all it means is having your target(s) watched to make sure
they're not in the vicinity, then you negotiate any locks on the
property and find a suitable receptacle for your device.
The next question is how they defeat the usual methods of counter-
surveillance. We had private detectives carry out a "sweep" of
every room and the telephone line. They found nothing. That
indicates at least four possibilities that I can think of;
(this is all guesswork BTW, and probably fanciful guesswork
at that!)
1) no bugs (pull the other one)
2) radio-transmitting devices which can be controlled from an
external source, ie you can instruct them to switch off
when you detect a counter-surveillance sweep taking place
3) hard-wired devices; probe microphones or whatever they're
called, things you poke through the wall
4) passive surveillance devices; so you bounce laser or
radio waves off a suitable reflecting surface (again,
sounds far-fetched but such things may apparently exist).
5) there is a fifth possibility, that the PI's didn't detect
an actual transmitting device; there are technologies
specifically designed to avoid detection, eg frequency hopping
and suchlike. But how much sophistication could you build in
to a device which would have to be small enough to be
physically concealable?
I guess the real question is to find out who is ultimately
behind these "goings on". And if the "great and good" (or
the better known, at any rate) can't protect themselves,
what hope is there for the rest of us?

Once again we're running into a brick wall. The reason I started posting
was because I couldn't figure out a way out of the situation, and thought
that saying it out into the open would provide a catalyst for one of
those "in the know" (there are plenty in this category, and it's a fair
bet that some of them are reading this) to speak up.
It hasn't worked, yet. A little more aggressive shit-stirring (excuse expletive)
might do the trick. Perhaps Usenet posting is the wrong arena for this sort of
activity; although obviously it does have the advantage of rapid feedback.
Thing is, for people to open up, you would have to provide them with a
reason why it would be in their interest to do so. There's no obvious way
of doing that; to get thinking people to incriminate themselves when they're
safe in denying all knowledge is not a trick I can figure out how to do.
>But whenever anyone makes any good suggestions you ignore them and start

A "good" suggestion would be one which had the effect of halting the
persecution, which so far hasn't happened. If you make a "good" suggestion then
damn right I'll stop posting - because then I won't have to.
>You haven't yet given any examples of anything concrete to suggest that this

Because, as said previously, concrete proof does not exist. If it existed then
I wouldn't be talking to you - if it could be proved, or if those doing it
could be found, they wouldn't be able to continue.
What's happened is all conversation. You can't prove conversation, not without
a tape recorder, and even then you would have to prove that what they meant
corresponded to what you understood.
The psychopath who manages the Applics group at my previous employers
played little word games, not only with me but with at least one other
person in the group; words which rhyme with swear words, words which are
ambiguous, eg "bent", words which rhyme with wank, "sheet" rhymes with shit,
end (how was your weak end? being the standard salutation on a Monday morning).
Sounds childish, most people would easily tell him to fuck off; except to people
with predisposition to depression and the inability to express themselves
(this was before I started taking medication), that sort of nastiness is
not bearable. After ten months of this I was so ill I was crying constantly,
eventually I went into hospital and started on medication. Somebody else he
did this to (over a year later!) got so depressed he took an overdose of
pills, had to go on antidepressants and left.
And where does the "concrete proof" of this trouble exist? NOWHERE. Even
if you had physical evidence, even if you had the presence of mind to
record what was said, how could you prove what he actually meant by what
he was saying? In some cases of harassment you can prove what was done,
because it's undeniable. But when the harassment is done with any presence
of mind whatsoever, it becomes difficult. In the case of the wider harassment,
the people doing it obviously know what they're about - they must have done
similar things to other people before in one form or another, and they know
what they can get away with, they know what the police will do nothing about.
>I seem to recall that last time this was being discussed someone asked if you
>had been to see a psychiatrist about this - after all if this is really

Yes. The reply was of the "neither confirm nor deny" variety. Not much else
they can say, is there?
>Well how could they? Who would you sue? The country?
Hmmm, now there's a thought... :-)
>If this gets out then *that* will be the time to bring your claims to the

Wrong way round. It won't get out unless I do something to bring that about;
remember, it isn't in THEIR interest for THEIR criminality to be exposed.
Yelling loudly on Usenet might nudge things along in the right direction.

That is what happens in big cities. Hell, it scared me to death when I first

even if its just to say hello, and I've no idea who they are. This happens
to most people, don't worry about it.

Exactly. All you have offered so far as proof of your harrassment by these
people is:
1) Someone on radio said something that you had recently said
and
2) People on the streets seem to recognise you.
These are both perfectly normal occurences and happen to lots of people every
day so it is unsurprising that people here, and the police, are not taking
you seriously.
Trying to always keep an open mind about things I would say that one of three
things is likely.
Either there is a lot more to this that you are not telling us, or you are
messing about or you have some genuine delusions. I'd like to think that in
two of the three cases you would find some real support here, but it seems
unlikely I'm afraid.

The key is the pattern, or a change in the pattern. I've lived in London
almost all my life, and just walking around the streets, I never got
hassled by anybody. All of a sudden, people start harassing you,
throwing abuse at you, behaving as if they know you personally, as
if they've seen you before somewhere. I read in the papers that this
happens to Colin Stagg and people like that Eastenders actress, but
they've had their picture in the paperes, so that is understandable.
In a couple of cases people have even known my name - when I was in
London over Easter I was walking down Shaftesbury avenue in the
West End when somebody (no idea who they were, just some bloke with
his girlfriend) called me by name - quite clearly, and my name is
distinctive. This also happened once about four 1/2 years ago, onn
the tube - some blokes I had never seen started chanting my name
and a term of abuse.
It's the pattern which convinces me there's something to it - and
would convince any impartial abserver who could see things tyhrough
my eyes.
>Doesn't this suggest to you that there are, in fact, no bugs to be found?
There's a little story behjjind this. First iof all, in 1992 I worked
for a company where the people made clear they knew what was going on,
first of all directly (the very first evening I was there I went out to
the pub with them and the Technical Directpor said to another guy,
"is this the bloke who's been on TV?" "yeah, I think so") and also
indirectly, by rep[peating stuff I was saying at home in London and
in my rented accomodation there (I moved several times in the course of
1992 and they followed me each time). Now, if "they" (the buggers)
knew their bugs could be found easily, they wouldn;'t be keen to make
their existence known, would they?
Also, in summer 1992 I went on a trip abroad to Europe by coach, and
on the way out there were a couple a little younger than myself on the coach
a bloke and hius girlfriend. He said things about some bloke who was
never named, who sounded exactly like me - and he made explicitly
clear that our house was bugged, and that a neighrbours house was
bugged (and at work they'd been rep[earting what was said at the
neighbours, so this looks like independent corroboration).
They also said stuff like "at school he was always really streesed,
they found someone from his school and he was a real psycho"
and that "he was in a B&B for one night and they got him", dead right
again, I had been in B&B for once night a few days before this trip
and weatching the news again got a reaction from the newsreader.

MI5 Persecution: Toronto Freenet supports free speech (693)
Despite an orchestrated campaign of attempted censorship by UK-resident newsgroup readers, TFN did not bow
to demands for a suppression of freedom of speech. TFN general policy on the matter is as follows;
Draft Policy on Account Deactivations due to News Group Postings
================================================================
News group postings occasionally take the form of a message which goes against the "topic" of the conference.
For example, a derogatory message about Canadians in the soc.culture.canada.
Members of such news groups then may send a message to the system administrators asking that a user's account
be terminated because of such posting.
The Toronto Free-Net Board of Directors has taken the position that the only postings that will get a person's
account terminated is material that is illegal under Canadian law. Otherwise, the Toronto Free-Net will not
take any action.
Freenet Executive Director Mike Anderson had this to say regarding the continued attempts of a minority of usenet
participants to have my account on his system deactivated;
The TFN's policy is not to take action against members unless they contravene the Criminal Code of Canada, or
engage in practices such as forgery, attacks against other computer systems or mailbombing.
Mr. Corley, while possibly being very annoying, has not contravened the TFN's policies. The TFN believes strongly
in freedom of expression, while recognizing that the price for such freedom may be a high signal-to-noise ratio in Usenet.
If Mr. Corley breaks the law, we will take action -- until then, he has the same rights as any TFN member to post
to Usenet newsgroups. Actions such as mailbombing the TFN in protest will be met by strong complaints to the
originating site's postmaster. The best defense against unwanted postings may be simply be to ignore them and deny
the poster an audience.
TFN Executive Director Toronto, Ont CANADA
Personally, I find it gratifying that my contributions to usenet discussion are recognized as being conducive
to a high signal-to-noise ratio by their quality and thoughtfulness.

No more prompt "Is this the scheduled bill <bill>?" in 2007
I recently upgraded from 2005 Deluxe to 2007 Premium. I was used to entering
transactions in my check register and being prompted with "Is this the
scheduled bill such and such?" I would click 'Yes' and then it would
disappear out of my upcoming bills. I just noticed that all of my bills are
way behind (according to Bills Summary), and when I pay one in the register
it does not prompt me anymore. How can I get this functionality back? I would
rather do it this way, than going to Bills Summary and paying them there,
then going back to my register to enter regular transactions.
Thanks in advance. Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219095
SP2 UPDATE-DOES IT LOAD?
Two or three days ago I got a message when I logged into Money Premium
2007
to upload SP2. I went thru the process and it didn't work. The upload
file would not
close until I shut down the computer. Same story when I opened Money
the next
day. Yesterday, I chose "cancel" from the upload prompt and worked with
Money
as usual. I checked the version and it is still 1024 and not the
updated 1303.
So my plan is to continue "cancelling" the SP2 upload prompt until I
hear that
this thing works. I know it's for a Vista problem and I'm still using
XP home
edition. I am wondering if any of you got this upload to work or if my
experience
is normal at this time. Any input is appreciated. Steve Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219092
Need to add check transactions to Microsoft Money using OFX file (not bank statements)
Does anybody have an example of an OFX file that imports check transactions
into Microsoft Money? I need to simulate the manual input of checks. Dut
to problems in our accounting software, it's best to enter transactions in
our accounting system and rekey them into MS-Money.
I found some "statement" files but I am thinking this isn't what I need to
do?????
I appreciate the depth and functionality of ofx vs. qif but I am finding it
difficult to find ofx examples since they all appear to be produced by large
companies (i.e. banks and financial companies)
Any help would be appreciated.

beginner's question about Money 2007
Anybody knows how to keep Money 2007 data offline rather than online?
When I added an account in Money 2007 software, I can see it by IE on
moneycentral.msn.com, so I assume the information is stored online.
Actually I don't mind if my positions etc are stored online, but don't
want my credentials (user name, password, account number etc) are
stored online. Is there a way to do so?
Thanks. Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219088
How do I delete some transactions?
Hi, I have a credit card which was subject to identity theft. As a result, it
was charged multiple times (about 100) for the Fedex services i did not
purchase. The bank has credited back all the fraudulent transactions. However,
since they all negate each other i do not want to see them in my Money
banking or reports. What do I do? I can not delete them after getting data
into my Money from the bank site.

Credit Limit Display
Does anyone know if the the ability to display your credit limit in the
account registers of credit cards has vanished from Microsoft Money

MSM 2006 and Passport
Not much at posting but here is the story:
-Thought I would try MSM in about and liked it, was not familiar w/ passport
but signed up.
-All good till one night I couldn't get to my files, changed passwords
messed around and no luck.
-next night found out the passport server had went down, then discovered
what passport was, and since I had changed passport in the iterim I lost 3
yrs data.
-purchased 2006 but would NOT use passport again, starting over.
-going well again, until the HD crashed, had to reload, but I had purchased
MSM online. Still had the original email thanking me for the purchase, but
in order to download again I needed passport.
-I can logon to passport, but it looks like it is not the original passport
because MSM will not log on to passport in order to let me activate, so I get
the msg for "trial expired". Same email, but it doesn't like the pwd, tried
re-setting...etc.
-If anyone can help then I'd appreciate it, otherwise I'm outta here and
back to quicken. I've spent an entire week trying to get MSM to work and my
patience is gone. Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219067
Installation Issues
I purchased Microsoft Money Premium 2007 and am using Windows XP Media Center
2005. Whenever I download the file and when attempting to install the
application my CPU usage jumps to 100% and stays there. The program never
gets installed. I've turned off my Trend Micro 2007 Security Suite, attempted
to install it as admin, attempted to install it in safe mode, nothing works.
Everything else I attempt to install goes just fine. Any suggestions? Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219061
Bug in 2006 and 2007
There is a bug in 2006 and 2007 which relates to my postings on
Fidelity download problems. After lots of restores, I have discovered
that Money crashes if you display Investment Performance on the home
and have an investment with more than six transactions against it
during a single month. Money 2006 just stalled, and Money 2007
crashed. I resolved the probem by removing the Investment Performance
from the home page. It did not matter whether the transactions were
entered manually or downloaded from a broker. If there were more than
4 or 5 buys and sells for a single investment, Money could not handle
the display and either stalled (2006) or crashed (2007). -- Howard Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219057
Account List ? MS Money 2006
When I updated my accounts I see in the "To Review" there are transactions to
read, but when I go to the account to see the transactions there are no
entries in the account? The bank balance and the Adj. Balance columns are
not the same.
Why is that? I've read help for the last 2 hours and cant find anything
about these columns.

MS Money 2007 v 16.0.150.1303
WinXP Pro SP2 and all updates accept IE 7
Money prompted to download a software update on 1/23/07, I ran the update,
rebooted, and now updating from my bank is very spotty at best. I succeed
perhaps one time in five. The failure notice on the 'Review Update Results
Screen' shows the time as 3 hours behind the current time. The computer
shows the time correctly in the Systray.
How can I reset the time zone setting that money seems to be using?

Fidelity Download Causes Money 2007 to Crash
This morning I did a bunch of downloads which seemed to work ok. When
I opened Money later in the day, it crashed and kept on consistently
crashing every time I opened it. I restored to an earlier version and
tried the downloads one by one. It appears that my download from
Fidelity is the culprit. Chase, Citi, and Wachovia are okay
When Money opens, it gives a message "working". Then the home page
appears. As soon as Money tries to gets its update from the Money
server, it closes without any error messages. Repairing the file does
no good. -- Howard Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219038
Recovering data without Money
Hi All,
I had an OEM version of Money 2002 installed on my PC. I've recently
had to replace it due to hardware failure, but have kept the old disk
drive as an external drive on my new system.
Of course, Money won't run, and the disks it came on won't work as it
is a different manufacturers machine :(
I urgently need to extract some of the account details from it in order
to complete my tax return by the 31st January, any suggestions on how I
could (a) get it working again or (b) extract the relevant data from
the database gratefully received
Thanks

M2006 - starting while offline
For the first time today I started Money 2006 Deluxe with my network
disabled ( purposely - for a separate reason) and Money looks just the
way I always hoped/ thought it should ! with " My investments" and none
of the MSN Money online crap. In the left column - options to work on
/views of - just MY stuff.
Other than turning off the nic prior to starting Money, anyway to have
this appear as my "normal startup page" ? Tag: Enter Key instead of tab Tag: 219032
Banks combined?
I'm getting ready to do my first tax return after switching to Money last
year. We have two checking accounts at different banks, one for household
and one for my sole proprietorship. I went into the Reports menu to get that
data from my business checking account and found expenditures from the
household account were included. What am I missing? How do I get the program
to make reports only on the account I am interested in? I selected the
correct account when I logged on.

Help change credit card # in payee details
Hi everyone.
I have a new credit card from a bank I used to do business with. Today I
tried to set up a new recurring bill for this card but Money 2007 is
pulling up the old account number and graying it out (can't edit it) even
though the old account is closed and the payee was deleted years ago. Is
there any way to fix this?
Thanks,
Richard

Cannot Delete Statement
I incorrectly downloaded a year's worth of transactions into my account by
accidentally using a 2006 year when downloading into Money. I want to just
redo this and not have to review all transactions again, so I tried right
clicking and going to "Delete Statement". I get an error "The operation
cannot be performed" and the EventID is "obres:34" and Source is "16.0".

Problem adding scheduled deposit to budget
I have a scheduled monthly deposit that I want to add to the budget but
cannot find a way to do it. Usually when I set up a new scheduled bill or
deposit, it will ask me if I want to add the category used to the budget but
not in this case. The category is already in the budget but I originally set
it up there with custom amounts filled for each month. Now I want it to

Recording bimonthly mortgage payments in MS Money
I have my mortgage deducted twice a month (bimonthly) and then I pay an
additional payment each year. How would this be recorded in Money so it
works in the budget tool? I'm currently transfering it to an asset and
deducting the payments from that account but the budget can intrepret it for
my ledger. Any help?

2007 Deluxe update...CRASH
Money Deluxe 2007 just told me it needed to update. I allowed this
thing to happen (silly me), and now when I try to start it, I get an
error message that tells me it cannot find checksum.exe, and that I
must reinstall from the original disks.
Silly me also purchased it as a download, and didn't pay an extra 6
bucks to get multiple downloads, or an extra $10 bucks to get a CD
(cheap silly me).
Am I screwed?

SP2 - no internect connectivity on Vista
Just a heads up in case anyone else experiences this problem.
Running Money 2007 on Vista. I was prompted to install SP2 last night when
I loaded Money. I did so successfully with no apparent problems. This
morning when I tried to update data from my bank, it would always fail.
Experimenting showed that any attempt by Money to access the internet in any
way, whether updating quotes, getting data from my financial institution, or
just trying to browse the web by typing an address in the field in Money
would all fail. I don't reboot the PC unless required to do so, and the SP2
install never mentioned any need to reboot. But after trying several times
throughout the day to update my account information with no success, I
figured let's reboot and see what happens before posting a question to this
group for help. Upon rebooting Money now once again can download data from
my bank as well as do all other internet related activity.
So just an FYI that if you have installed SP2 and Money is no longer able to
do anything over the internet, try rebooting your PC.
