    - Posted before, but thread got old before question was anwsered fully I have found with my Money file that sometimes there are entries that I even though I accept them, then do not reduce from the 3x size to the 1x size. (3x as tall as accepted transactions). I believe that the transactions are all transfers from another account i.e. part of paycheck, deposited into checking account, then a portion is 'transferred into the savings account and the savings account has the problem. We can click accept, but the transaction still remains 3x size, but the system doesn't seem to list it as a transaction that hasn't been accepted. I have tried both repair methods that I could find on the net (money.exe -s and I believe I tried the super savage repair tool). Is there something the matter, and what can I do to fix the problem? I am using Money 2003 and have been using money since money 99 (I think). Any help would be appreciated. Additionally, here is information that was asked for, or suggestions that were tried from the group. Suggestion: Ctrl+T in register view? Result: Ctrl+T does NOT work. already set to display one line only. It is selected items only that won't shrink down to one line. Any other suggestions. Question: Does your Account List show any transactions to review? Answer: Last I checked it showed one transaction to be accepted, there are probably 8-10 that are behaving strangely..     - Pocket Money I have been using Pocket Money since Money 2003 and all three versions seem to have the same issue. I've gone through three different PPC in this time frame, and have re-installed my PC many times. though I've upgraded the MNY file for each version. When I install pocket money by default it only syncs the last 4 weeks of data, it appears that it doesn't sync correctly or something in the way it syncs doesn't allow the balance on my PPC to be correct. The latest case was on the PC I had a balance of around 2k, but the PPC said I had a negative 1800 balance. Once I changed active sync to sync ALL transactions and put the PPC in the cradle they both wound up with the same balance of negative $2500 and balancing the acct went from the correct ending balance from the previous month to negative $1500. With 2003 I even opened a case with MS and didn't get very far, once we found that I could sync everything and get it to work I pretty much left it there and just put up with having to sync all the data. I've done that again, restored the money file from a back up, but still can't get the PPC to come out with the right balance. This has happened in the past and I had to uninstall, re-install MNY for the PPC. I'll be doing that tonight. Any ideas on what may be causing my issue with only syncing partial data?     - Money 2005 and Pocket Money 2005 I have a strange problem, I looked on the FAQs, reinstalled both programs and it still comes back. Both money '05 and pocket money 05 seem to work fine (though i think money '05 is a lot harder to use than money '02). The problem is with the investments portion of pocket money 05. For some reason it doesn't transfer over how many shares i own and then for some reasons says I own -trillionsOfDollars (where trillionsOfDollars is some obscenely huge numbeR).     - MS Money is default financial program? Hi, I recently bought some new financial software for my business. Loaded it just fine. Went online to my bank to download information and it defaulted to MS Money even though I chose another download format. ????? I tried to find a place to change the default program, but so far it has eluded me. I want to remove that default so I can download my statements into the right specialty program!     - Include Project in Invoice... I like the program because of the banking but the invoicing could be improved with just a few tweaks: 1) Allow Project text to be included in the Invoice as an option. This would allow a "trouble ticket" or work order - whatever - into the invoice so the customer would have all the info in one location.     - Problem downloading OFX files. I thought this was a bank issue based on the error message I received, but I get it at every bank: "A communication error occurred. Please try your call again. If you continue to have problems call your financial institution's Online Services Customer Support." I did call one of my banks and they confirmed no issues on their side.     - money whenever I gripe about being forcd to upgrade money 2002 , and I state that all I want to do is match downloaded transactions with my register, I am told how great money is as an financial advisor...and that If all I waant is to match transactions, their are tons of programs that can do that . 1. Name those programs so I can purchase one. 2. What great financial expertise can be gained from MONEY? .......that if you refinance at a lower interest rate, you will save?.....that if you buy the same program every 3 years, Microsoft will profit?....please give an example of Money's great financial prowless 3. If Money will need to be upgraded so often , why doesnt Micosoft put it on the packaging that this product will not operate as purchased in 3 years?     - Debit transactions always come out as different name It seems that when I do a debit transaction at costco for example and I download it to MSMoney from my bank, The transaction always comes out with the name of Oppenheimer funds which is another transaction that is automatically debited every month.     - Corrupt Money and Backup files...? I have been using MS Money for years - currently using the latest 2005 version... Recently while using MS Money my machine crashed and now I cannot open my Money file because of some corruption error. I have also attempted to recover the backup file however each time it begins to "Repair" the file it stops and tells me to enter my passport password - I do and it just keeps trying to fix the file and then again asks me for my password... bottom line is that I have YEARS of data (register data, budget, etc...) setup in that Money file and related backup file - and it looks like I can't get at that data at all right now.     - Syncronazation Problem I have an account called Ahli Bank and anothr account called Ahli Bank United in my Pocket PC Money but when I checked my Desktop PC Money I could see one account only (Ahli Bank United).     - Budget: Transfers Out of Budget Accounts (401k) I have an automatic deduction from my payroll to my 401K, and am tracking Gross Amount Payroll salary postings. In my budget however, the 401K shows as a tranfer out to another account and I cannot figure out how to actually account for this through the savings portion of the budget or match it as a regular transfer out that is expected.     - Mortgage Payments in Budget In trying to setup my budget: My Mortgage payment is showing up as a loan payment and I am unable to track against it.     - Problems to restore backup file I recently had a computer crash and the hard drive is gone... Luckily (I thought) I had a old Money back up file that I hoped would get me back up and running, but I could not restore this file because every time I tried I got the message "Please insert the next backup disk (The disk containing file "My Money Backup d2.mbf)"... But I saved the file in a memory card, and I was never asked to input another card/disk, so this is the only file I have... Now I have a backup file that won't work! Any solutions?     - Money 2005 and loan account balance I apologize if this has been addressed before. I have searched Google Groups and come up with one other person asking a similar question, but with no resolution... I am new to MS Money. I recently purchased the Standard edition and set up my bank accounts. My financial institution doesn't seem to support Online Services, but I am able to download transactions from their web site into Money. This seems to work well, and all of my bank accounts show up correctly in Money. I recently took out a consolidation loan to pay off some credit cards. I setup a loan account in Money using the basic loan account wizard. The account was created successfully and showed the correct amount owing, with a negative balance displayed in the accounts list, as expected. Next, I downloaded the transactions for the loan from my financial institution's web page. This put 3 transactions into the loan account - the borrowed amount plus insurance etc. The amount owing still shows the correct negative amount, but the problem is, the account list now shows a positive balance (the same amount, just positive instead of negative). Of course, this messes up all of my reports and make it look as though I have way more money than I should. Does anybody have a solution for this? The amount borrowed was deposited into my chequing account, and that transaction appears correctly in my Money chequing account.     - Budget dropped payment This month I made a payment to each of two Credit Card accounts. They were both listed in Bills & Deposits and accounted for in my Budget under "Special: Transfers out of Budget accounts". Once the payments had been made, I added them to the checking register via Bills and Deposits. Both payments were correctly added to my checking register, were categorized correctly and showed up in the Budget under the "Actual" column and my Budget numbers were all good. Several days later, I noticed that these two payments no longer show up under "Special: Transfers out of Budget accounts" (though other credit card payments do). They are still categorized correctly and are still in the checking account register. Now, of course, my Budget numbers are off by the amount of these two payments. I can see no way to get them back into the Budget as it seems you cannot edit this "Special: Transfers out of Budget accounts" category.     - MSFT 2005 online banking ... I am new to MS Money 2005 and, despite working in SW for >10 years , I find the usage completely non-intuitive. Could somebody please clarify the following: - I bank with a credit union. MS Money is able to download etc, but only if they maintain the information on their Internet servers. Is this safe todo ? Why are they requiring the info to be maintained on their servers ? - Assuming I enable info storage on their servers, is this a temporary thing; after some time will MSFT force me to join some paid service or disable this ?     - Investment Performance Report While reviewing my investment performance report I noticed that two securities that should appear are not factored into performance when I show the detail calculation. These investments and related gain loss appear when in the portfolio view when I indicate I want to show closed positions. I notice that in the customize report setting that in the Investment tab I have selected "select all" however these two securities do not appear in the list? Any ideas.     - Online account setup problem Whenever I try to set up online access to my Bank of America or E*Trade Bank accounts in Money '05, I get an error message that reads "Account setup is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." This occurs after the software appears to try to download information and set up the account.     - Importing "Investments to Watch" I use Money 2003 Deluxe Ver 11 (update) with Windows XP Home. I created a new money file because my old one became corrupted. I have successfully imported all investments into the new money file, but cannot figure out how to import my old "Investments to Watch" account into the new file.     - Graduated Student Loans I am setting up my student loans in Money 2005 and if they were regular loans I wouldn't have a problem, but...one of them is on a graduated repayment schedule where I pay an amount for 2 years, then it increases for 2 more years, then finally gets to the regular payment for the remainder. Currently I have the amount I am paying amortized and money shows it will take me over 100 years to pay off, which although kind of humerous, is not useful for me trying to set up a cash flow for the next 10 years and debt reduction planner. Another loan I have I am paying interest only for the 1st couple years then I have an actual payment for the remainder. The interest is tax deductible for both loans, so I was hoping to be able to track this. I am trying to get a 5 and 10 year plan together to be free of these two loans but I am struggling since I can't seem to get the correct numbers to be calculated in Money. Any help? Thanks.     - Duplicated Transaction in Register I am using MNY03 Deluxe on WinXP Pro. Whenever I schedule via Bills and Deposits and then upload a checking accoujnt payment, the Status column in the checkbook register immediately shows an "E" for transactions processed with JPMorgan/CHASE checking account. Then, when the check actually clears the CHASE bank, a duplicate of the same transaction is downloaded into MNY03 register. The only difference seen is that the second tansaction is showing "Automated Payment- Settlement. What am I doing incorrectly?     - MS Money 2002 : Cash flow does not Work.. When I click Cash flow Icon or cash flow link / menu options from other means..I see busy cursor and it becomes a normal cursor after sometime..     - Money 2000 Investment Transaction Error Message I transferred shares in from another account to a new account. The amount, 3,200 shares, is correct and appears in the investment holdings schedule. I then sold the shares in three separate lots with the final sale 1,000 shares. The 1,000 shares appears correctly in the investment holdings schedule; however, when I enter sell 1,000 shares I get the error message, "The changes you are making will cause the share balance for "Security XYZ" to become negative at some point. Through trial and error I determined that it will permit me to sell 650 shares without the warning leaving a remainder of 350 shares that I cannot sell without getting the warning. I tried transferring the shares back to the old account. Then I tried to sell them, but the error msg. resulted. I then ran the salvage application to be certain that there wasn't an anomaly in the data. Afterwards, the problem continued. Assistance would be greatly appreciated.     - How to export all open equity transactions? I want to use MS Access to create special reports that aren't available in MS Money 2005 Premium. Is there a way to export all open equity transactions By open transaction, I mean that I don't want to export any closed transactions. So, as an example, let's say I buy 10 shares of Microsoft at $25/share and then sell 1 share at $24. I don't want Money to export the transaction that shows that I bought 10 and another transaction that shows that I sold one share.     - Setting up a budget Hello, I need to set up a new accounting/budget system for my family. I've been doing this in Excel for years. I have a 'cash' account spreadsheet with week by week summaries of expenses (really a payment schedule), with budget forecasts for same. The whole thing is filled out at the beginning of the year in red, then the actuals are entered in black. The problem is that I have to do a lot of double entry. At tax time, my spreadsheet isn't 'complete', so I have to go back and enter into a separate spreadsheet all my checks, my wife's checks and both our credit cards. If I'm going to do all this typing, I'd rather just enter the checks once, then do the 'budget status report' from the check/credit card ledger. Make sense?     - $05SB "Not enough memory is available" when changing printer I've seen this symptom in previous versions of $. My hope is that somebody here has actually figured it out. If I go to File => Print Setup => Invoice Setup and change the printer, no problems. If I'm in the Business Section, select Print Invoice, click the Setup button on the dialog to print and change the printer, I get the message: "Not enough memory is available. If you have several applications open at the same time, you might need to close one of them before starting Money." It doesn't matter which printer I am changing from or to. On the plus side, earlier versions of $ would refuse to go any further with respect to printing but $05 now gives the error, changes the printer anyway, and lets me continue printing after I acknowledge the message. I have 1GB of memory of which 25% is used. I have gobs of free disk space. Temporary folders have been cleared. All Win2K service packs and patches have been applied. And the only application running is Money (not including all the other normal background stuff and services). I doubt this is a resources issue. Any solutions? I'm thinking maybe there might be a write protected file somewhere that $ needs to update to reflect the latest printer and default invoice template. Tag: Editing in the Register.... Tag: 191217

    - Investment Transfer Error I've found what seems to be a strange error in Money 2005. If I transfer an investment from one account to another, and then try to view my portfolio by Investment Type in any Customised View - 1) the transferred investment does not appear in the portfolio by name. An line is shown for the investment in the right place in the alphabetical sorting sequence, and the value of the investment appears to be correctly shown, but the investment name shown is a duplicate of the investment immediately before the transferred investment by alphabetical sorting sequence. 2) Money responds unpredictably if I click on the duplicated investment name 3) investment total information is incorrect If I view the portfolio in an uncustomised view, everything appears correctly. If I create a new customised view, the problem re-appears. If I try to reset a customised view to default settings, the problem remains. I've tried repairing my Money file - no errors reported.     - Home Equity Line of Credit I have a home equity line of credit. Initially I set it up as Loan and Liability account. But now that I want to withdraw some money out of it, I find I cant do that. So, I found an account type of Home Equity line of Credit. I set that up and started to enter the information from the other account then I found out I couldnt track interest and principal.     - Money 04 EPay I accidentally turn off the confirmation notice that gives you the confirmation number. Now I can't find out how to turn it back on. If you don't want to see confirmation pages after submitting electronic payments (unless there are errors or changes made to them), select the Don't show me a confirmation message unless there are errors or changes made to my payments check box, and you will no longer receive them. this one. I can't find the setting "Use Enter to move between fields" Its
been in all of the previous versions and I am used to editing my entries that
way. Its driving me nuts to have to use Tab to move between the fields.
Anyone know how to set this?

If not, I guess I'll have to go back to the 2004 version...

When in the Account Register, click Change Account Settings
Click Global Account Settings
Scroll down to the Transaction Entry Options section.
It should be there.

Click Tools and then Account Settings (global).
