    - Cannot change credit information v.2005 Standard -- In the Change Account Settings area, in the Credit Information section, I cannot change the interest rate, minimum payment, etc... There is no button or link which will let me edit those fields. This is for existing accounts and new accounts. I didn't have this problem with v.2004. What's wrong? Please help!     - M06 Deluxe Budgeting Issues I am still trying to fix the budgeting feature in Money 06. I cannot switch from Essential Budget to Advanced and Essential Budget does not appear to work correctly. Let's start with Essential Budget: I have tried repairing the file both Quick and Standard without affect. I have tried deleting all Income and Expense without affect. However I have noticed that with all these deleted the budget looks strange. When looking at the Expense page the summary says $0 Income and $0 Expenses Net $0, but when looking at the Income page the summary indicates a $2960 expense for a Net -$2960 budget. I saw something about starting a new file and importing QIF file which I though I would try but it looks like I can only export 1 account at a time and this file has over 225 accounts in it. I certainly can't do that. Are there any other solutions? I want to get to Advanced Budgeting mode preferably, but in lieu of that would be slightly satisfied to get the budget to net out correctly in the Essential mode. I suspect the two issues may share the same root cause and it may be this "phanton" $2960 in expenses that is keeping me from switching to Advanced mode. Without a budgeting feature, this program is really little more than a checkbook in terms of functionality for me anyway. I have transactions dating back to 1998 in this Money file, I would hate to lose all that information by creating a new file and am not even sure that would fix the budgeting problem.     - Passport and Money When I went from 2005 to 2006, then attempted to open my MNY file, I got a message telling me my e-mail or password is incorrect. So I invoked the "Forgot your password?" link on the page, and proceeded to, well, change my password, like it suggested. So I still can't get into my MNY file containing 7-8 years of financial data.     - Upgrading I am currently using MS Money 99 and recently purchased Money 2006. I want to upgrade and keep using the same file in the new version of the software. (This way I still have all my financial data in tact.) When I go to open the 99 file or restore the 99 backup in the 2006 version, I get an error message that says it cannont locate the file or that is has been corrupted. I know neither of these are true because I can still use the file in Money 99. I don't think Money 2006 knows how to recognize the 99 file.     - Another Cash Account question I have a schwab investment account setup. It has, on the cash ledger $6000. In the same account, I own a MM Mutual fund with 34,000 shares at $1 each. I sold the MM Fund, and bought $40,000 worth of a bond fund. My investment ledger shows a sale of 34,000 shares of the MM Mutual fund. It automatically "used" the cash balance to purchase the bond fund. How do I show the "sale" of the cash in the cash portion? My main problem is that the sale of the MM fund shows as investment income. It is offset my a buy of $40,000 worth of the Bond fund. So my income and expense report is showing a negetive $6000. I figure if I show a sale of the $6000 cash, the income and expense report would show income of $40,000, and an expense of $40,000. How do I handle this problem?     - NEW INFO on mutual fund update problem I have been working with an MS tech on this issue. It turns out that certain groups of funds do update, although the date does not show it, while others do not. For example, all of my Vanguard funds update (the date does not), but my Fidelity Funds do NOT update. I sure hope Microsoft can fix this issue quickly; entering the NAVs manually is a real pain.     - The question that never gets answered.. why ? I posted the question below twice in the last several months and never got any answers. Is this because nobody knows, or because nobody cares to answer ? The question is - is Money for PPC database encrypted, or is the password there for "obfuscation" only ? I tried Spb Pocket Finance and the program was able to import data from Money for PPC v4 without asking for my password.     - Broken Loan Series? My house loan payment some times gets out of sync with the bill payment series. (I think Money occasionally misses the match after downloading my bank statements, and I don't catch it.) When this happens, I need to delete a payment in the Bills & Deposits list, since it shows past due. Occasionally (twice now) when I do this the loan changes from a Category of Loan Payment (tied to my loan) in to a Paycheck! If I edit the bill series, the splits don't add up to the total (they sum the wrong way, so the Unassigned is twice the loan payment). No matter what I do at this page I can not get the splits to add up, and I can't delete the existing Principal or Interest lines to replace them with new Principal and Interest lines. If I go to Setup Accounts and edit the loan that way, no matter what changes I make to the loan the bill payment series doesn't get fixed. The last time this happened I had to close the account, open a new loan, and get the dates right so the numbers calculate to the correct values. This is the second time this has happened and I don't want to go through that again... But if it's happened twice it will likely happen again. Any advice on how to set this up so it works correctly?     - SEP-IRA Contributions... I am very new to Money so please excuse me. I have a SEP-IRA through my employer and each paycheck I contribute the maximum that I am allowed to contribute. My company makes contributions each paycheck equal to 10% of my gross pay. I can setup the paycheck and manage my contributions but how do I also track my companies contributions into the account? For now I just created a new recurring deposit into my SEP-IRA. I just want to make sure that there is not a way to associate my companies contributions with my paycheck in money.     - merging without deleting history? I am running Money 2005 Deluxe Money has been flaky with the online updates for a couple weeks now (the program spews out all sorts of messages - no record of account/update failed (or something similar to that)/etc). It advised me to stop online services and reinstate them, so I did. It worked for one of my credit card accounts, but in doing so it created a duplicate entry. It did NOT work for a banking account (keeps saying "account setup unavailable"), and thus I manually update that account through my bank's web interface which lets me download transactions. Question #1: Why did Money create a duplicate CC entry? (only containing new items, nothing from the original account entry). Question #2: Is there a way to merge the original and new CC accounts without deleting the past transaction history as Money said it would do?     - black and white - no colour I have installed Money on my XP Professional machine and the graphs on the cash flow page are black and white line graphs, and the home page has a black and white graph for spending by category. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, installed over, and nothing changes this.     - EPAY Problem with Matching Transactions I am using Money 2003 and am having a small problem. I used Wells Fargo as my bank for many years and everything worked great. I switched to Wachovia in July since there were no fees and they actually have branches near where I live. I quickly learned that Wachovia handles things a little different on the EPays. I used to be able to put in the date I wanted the payment to arrive at the payees and Wells Fargo would automatically back it up the required time (about 4 days). Wachovia doesn't do that. They actually process it on the day you put in. You have to schedule it far enough in advance to get it there by the due date. Okay I can handle that. Just a little discipline on my part. Wells Fargo also didn't mark it as Electronically Cleared (with an E in Money) until the Payee accepted it electronically or cashed the check. Wachovia marks it with an E in Money as soon as they send the money. This caused a slight problem with a vendor when Wachovia picked up an old address and for two months they went out to the bad address and were marked as Electronically Clear. Well I got a call from the vendor wondering where the loan payments were for the last few months. We straightened that out. I'm double checking all addresses. But here is the real problem and the one I need help with. Problem #1: This only happens on items that I pay from Bills and Deposits and Only on those where the amount each month does not change. For example, my water bill is exactly the same each month - $13.54. Take a look at the example shown on this website I set up with screen shots. http://www.slundwall.com/wachoviaproblem.htm I sent this electronically this morning (10/31/2005) to be withdrawn on 11/4/2005 so it would get to the vendor about 10/9/2005. Money matched it immediately with the one from 7/13/2005. That date is from the first bill I set up in Bills and Deposits using Wachovia to pay the water bill back in July. Every monthly water bill I send immediately matches to 7/13/2005 now. It does the same with my mortgage payment. See the web page. Problem #2: What will happen in the future will be that when Wachovia does pay it I will get another transaction back for this being paid on 11/4/2005 and I won't be able to match it to the one shown because it is saying it is already cleared. Then I have to delete the original one because I can clear the 'E'. This is shown with a Bell South payment where it did the same thing (third image on the webpage). Notice that I now have two Bell South Payment (last screen shot on web page). The first one is the one I sent about 10/1/2005 to be paid on 10/19/2005. It immediately matched up with a payment from 8/2/2005. The second one is the one I got back from Wachovia on 10/20/2005 after Wachovia actually did pay it and send it out. Notice it also has all the confirmation information in the Memo line. So, now I have to delete the first one because I can't 'unclear' it and match the two. This is a real problem when it is a loan payment as it breaks the connection to the two accounts in the transfer. I called Wachovia. Of course I knew more than the person I talked to. Basically all they do is see if payments have been sent or not. After I faxed the person the information shown on the web page and they started to understand what was going on they pointed fingers at Microsoft. I find that tough to believe as the ONLY change here is that I went from Wells Fargo to Wachovia. But, I told them I'd check with Microsoft and the in the forums. So, anyone else having this problem?     - duplicate accounts that won't merge (MS Money newbie here:) My wife and I just installed MS money and followed the basic setup instructions (btw is there a good beginners guide somewhere?). We entered both of our bank account's information under new accounts. The problem is we both monitor our joint account from our own wells-fargo account web-pages. MS Money sees this as 2 separate accounts and duplicates each expense in our budget. I briefly researched it and tried to merge the accounts but it won't let me. Anyone able to help?     - Account Reconciliation has wrong balance Since I started using MsM 2002 Standard a few years ago, I think I entered a wrong balance once what doing reconciliation. Ever since then when I do reconciliation, MsM shows a wrong starting balance and I have to correct it.     - Budget Groups I have set up my budget and I am having a problem with something. Maybe someone can help me out... I have my Utilities broken into categories, for example: Utilities : Gas Utilities : Electric Utilities : Water In my budget/spending tracker I have set an amount of $400 to be spread across all 3 of these, but it constantly shows I have spent $0. I know this is not accurate because I can see the amount I have spent for all 3. In the spending tracker category selection it shows Utilities : [All other] and no group for all incluseive spending for Utilities. When I try to add Utilities : [All] it tells me I cant use the special characters... What the heck?!?! In another category I have setup called Misc : [All] it appears to be working fine. When I double click the shortcut to run it, MSMoney remains in the processes but no "Money" screen comes up.     - Check Information Good evening. I am new to Money for the most part. I used Money 2004 Standard and downloaded my bank transactions daily. I have upgraded to MS Money 2006 Deluxd and am trying to use the Online services and automatic updates. Money connects to Key Bank fine, but none of the check information is brought over (check number, memo, etc).     - problem with opening a money file <WEIRD> I have used money 2005 for a year. Couple days ago I had to format my hard drive and install Windows XP a new. I saved my money mny file and the backup to it in the safe place. When I installed MS Money on my new system and tryed to open my mny file it displayed this error: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Money cannot locate 'filename' or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read-only file or you do not have permission to change it or your disk drive is write protected. If you have chosen the correct file and it cannot be accessed, you will need to click OK and open your most recent backup file. If the file is being used by another application, close it in the other application and click OK to try again. ------------------------------------------------------------ I checked, it's defintetly not read-only, my drive is obviously not write protected. I tryed to restore from back-up and my getting the same message when enter where I want to back-up. I tryed to reapir the file. After repairing it successfully repaired and created a new file and dispalyed a message that no info was lost, but when trying to open the new file - SAME PROBLEM!!! What could that be?
