Why do I keep getting duplicate payees on the online payments I make in
Money 2006? I pay through Wachovia bank, I do have an MSN Billpay account
but never use it. It seems that the duplicate is created when the payee
name/transaction is reported back by the bank, a day or two after the
payment date. The payee names match exactly; some as simple as "BGE" for
our gas & electric, I have two accounts (or 3,4,5,6,....if I don't manually
clear them out).

Is this a known bug, or is there a setting I can create to fix this?

Thanks!

Where are you initiating the payment? From within Money?

Yes I am - an online "ePay". It goes out, say to be actually paid tomorrow.
Then the day after, it shows up in my checking account as a downloaded
transaction from the bank. At that point, I now have 2 payees, even though
the names match exactly. The new payee has one transaction. So I manually go
in and "move" it to the online-actuated payee, which removes the duplicate.

It happens to many payees (ie 10-12), but not all - some few don't get
duplicates (5-7), and I can't figure out a pattern of which do and which
don't as they all go online/ePay from Money to Wachovia..

I've had that happen a couple of times on a particular small vendor that
gets issued paper checks. When the check clears, it gets downloaded back
into my checking account without a check number. I wonder if it has
something to do with the new ACH electronic clearing process, where the
depositing bank doesn't return the actual check? Is the check number coded
on the check on the bottom line? If not, is it getting deducted from my
account without the check number, therefore doesn't link?

Just a WAG.

Don: I think it is a bug. I have researched several users describing the same
problem, and I have not seen a resolution. I have the same problem and would
love to find an answer.
