    - Problems with investment account I have an IRA account (at TD Waterhouse in case that matters) where I had the entire portfolio (e.g. $10,000) invested in a money market. I recently purchased some stock and the downloaded transactions included the buy (e.g. $5000) and a sell of the money market to cover the purchase (e.g. $5000). Now Money is reporting that the account is the buy amount greater than it should be (e.g. $15,000). Clearly something has gone wrong. What do I need to do to get the account set up so that Money a) gets the total value of the account correct and b) will continue to track the account properly in the future from automatic downloads.     - Electronic statements and MS Money I enter my electronic Bank of America statment into MS Money once weekly. I have also told Money about my reaccuring bills. When I pay a bill, do I enter it into my registry? Keep in mind that my bank statment, includes my payments automatically. I'm worried about my reoccuring bills counting twice thus throwing off my cash forcast. In other words, I'm afraid that my reoccuring MS Money bills will count in addition to my bank statement. How the heck does MS MONEY know that my Bank Statement already includes my bill payments. Thanks for your help. I'm very new to this, so any help will improve my life right now.     - Bank of America Active Statements I have come across a rather annoying problem with BoA Active statements and MS Money 2004. BoA lists the payees like this: 11111111111 06/30 #1111111111 PURCHASE GROCERY STORE SOMEWHERE, SOMESTATE Now when use the active statement all I get in Money as the payee is: 11111111111 06/30 Is there any way to make sure Money gets the ENTIRE payee and not just the first line. There are quite a few payees that instead of listing the payee name, there a lot of numbers THEN I get the payee. Makes it difficult to organize when I have to keep going back online to review each transaction and find out who the payee really is. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.     - Lost Sounds After Money04 Re-install in Win XP Actually I had this problem a year ago and worked out how to fix it and even posted the method but I now can't remember exactly how to get the sounds working again. The problem is Admin account and user accounts in Win XP. Under Admin Money works fine but under user account there are no sounds.     - Investment Property Loans Hi, I'm using MS Money 2003 Standard and I'm trying to set up my investment property loans in it. I am having all sorts of trouble. I figured out (I think) that an Interest Only loan is a loan with a balloon amount the same as the priciple, but that is about the most progress I have made! My current problems: 1. The loans started last year and I want to enter the correct details for tax purposes. The trouble is, it won't let me do anything with the loan prior to 2004 - and there were 2 interest rate hikes at the end of last year. 2. There are so many categories that (to be honest) I am not sure which loan type I should be setting up. I know it says it is not even necessary to set it up at all, but I want MS Money to reflect what we are really doing with our money, so I want to learn how to set it up. 3.     - Money Credit card charges should be debits and not credits When ever I make a charge on my american express card I get an entry placed into the charge column. This is fine except is seems to credit my running total so after a while the sum I owe the credit card turns into a positive number instead of getting into a bigger negative number. When Money consolidates the debt from the credit card with my bank account it seems that i have a positive cash flow when in essence I have a smaller cash flow. Is there a setting to allow charges to debit the charge number from the balance instead of adding to it?     - Transaction download problems When I download from my bank there are several payees that always match to another payee but it is not the right one. For example JewelOsco grocery store always downloads as National Life. Both of these are active accounts. I also have a problem where a payee has completely disappeared and all of the data associated with it. I am the only user so it was not deleted by me.     - Money 2004 editions & Money 2004 for Pocket PC I'm a current MS Money 2002 user, and I've recently switched from a Palm PDA to Pocket PC (MS Mobile 2003), and I wanted to try the free MS Money for 2004 for Pocket PC download. During install, the Pocket PC version failed to detect my installed Money 2002. While it was not explicitly stated on the webpages, it must be that Money 2004 for Pocket PC will not 'sync' with Money 2002. I'm plenty willing to upgrade to Money 2004, but what I need to know is if the Standard edition will work with the Pocket PC version. I'm not doing anything fancy, and the Standard edition would be adequate for me. However, I have had the misfortune of buying "basic" versions of software only to learn that most of the "nice" add-on features only come with "deluxe" versions. Can anyone tell me if that is also the case with Money 2004? If I buy the Basic edition, am I going to find out I really needed one of the other, more expensive, versions in order to us it with my Pocket PC version? None of the /www.microsoft.com/money/ web pages seem to address the usage of the Pocket PS version with any of the four vailable version of Money 2004. Thanks for any info.     - Problems downloading again!!! I am having problems downloading again!! I am frustrated. I have not figured out how to make backups on the hard!! I hope I do not need to go through what I did the other day. Deleting all my accounts and then downloading and reassign categories to each transactions. This though, I have a better understanding on how the problem occurs. I have a line of credit. When I look at the account list it shows the line of credit in the negative. I owe money on this account. When I go into the account it show everything as positive. I download my account and what was a transfer appeared at a "increase transaction" in the balance owed. I changed it to a transfer and got confused. Money wanted to make the "to account" as the line of credit account. Of course that is wrong. I change it to me the "from account" and selected the correct account to be the "to account" When I selected "accept" it said it can not make that transaction. It also put the transaction in the transaction record to the decrease side. (whoops) I fiddled around a bit and whenever I hit accept nothing would happen. I then got clever and put the transaction amount to a negative number. I was thinking that a negative decrease in the amount owing would = a positive increase in the amount owing. When I hit accept. The transaction disappeared from the record. I then redownloaded and everything was fine, but that transaction did not reappear. I tried downloading another account, it downloaded, but then said it received an error and then restarted When I restarted it said there are three transactions to view, but none of them appear in the transaction records. Doing some more testing. I took a transactions from the line of credit record and downloaded. Knowing that when I downloaded there now would be a new transaction.     - Fidelity Download Problem Any else with this problem? Occasional transactions in my Fidelity retirement accounts will fail to download. The common denominator seems to that my *first* attempt to download occurs when the transaction is still "intraday". In other words, the transaction will show up on my History when accessing my Fido account via the web, but it will be "bolded" on that web page, and not actually credited to my account. The "crediting" takes place some hours after market close. When a transaction is in this intraday status, it does not download. However, it also does not download on a subsequent download attempt. A theory that I have is that the "intraday" transaction retains the date/time stamp of it's intraday trade date/time, and not of the posting or crediting time. So when Money requests subsequent downloads, it is asking for downloads for information that was entered subsequent to the last successful download. Since the date/time stamp of this transaction was before that time, it will never get downloaded. Examining my OFX RQ and RS files lends some support to this theory, but I do wonder if others have been in this sort of situation and have had the same problem (or not).     - Account List Drop-down menu doesn't split into columns I've been a long time user of Money (since 97) and recently upgraded from 2000 to 2004. I like most of the changes in 2004 but because I am a BIG keyboard short-cut guy there was 1 change that was very annoying until I figured out how to work around it. Maybe this will help some others... In 2004 the drop down list of accounts (by clicking on the account name when viewing any account) no longer splits into multiple columns when needed. Thus when you have more accounts than your screen height can display you can't see them all by using the drop down menu and the mouse, you have to go to the account list page (ctrl- shift-A) to see them all. However, the drop-down account list will 'scroll' using the arrow keys! And, *** pay attention because this is the tricky part ***, although there is no shortcut indication on the screen in Money 2004, the drop-down account list can still be accessed by pressing '<alt>-u' (just like the previous versions)! So just like in previous versions you can still quickly switch between your accounts in as little as 2 keystrokes: 1) press '<alt>-u' to access the drop-down account list. 2) press 'o' to access 'Other Accounts' -or- press the first letter of one of your 'Favorite' accounts. 3) press the first letter of any of your 'Other' accounts. If more than one account starts with the same letter keep pressing that letter (or use the arrow keys) to highlight the correct one and press 'Enter' to switch to it. Unfortunately (Microsoft take note of this) - if the list needs to be scrolled, pressing the first letter does not scroll the list. The account will be selected but not shown. Use must the arrow keys to actually scroll the list. Also note: Because 'Favorite' accounts starting with 'L','O','C', or 'B' can NOT be highlighted using their first letter (and I find using the arrow keys to select them to be a pain) I use the 'Favorites' drop down list to quickly access my Favorite accounts with as little as 3 keystrokes: '<alt>-a', 'c', 'first-letter'. Right now today, I only have (2) pledges, one from Salvation Army whom will only pay the last $100, after the rest or first part of the rent is paid, and Auburn Food Bank did also pledge the last $115 after the first part of rent is paid.     - Budget problem...(M04) My problem is not unique, but I have seen no replies to past posts (nor a FAQ addressing it).... In my Budget, I have a recurring payment called "Hydro", which is $128. My past transactions for Hydro are all $128 per month. When I generate a Budget Report for any given month (or simply view my Budget for the "Last Month"), it shows $384. This is happening on LOTS of different categories. I have an account at an institution that only provides support for Quicken.
They do not provide QIF file downloads or ActiveStatements (i.e. the
download needs to be set up from withing Quicken). Is there any way to get
the statements into Money (other than downloading the PDF files they provide
as "electronic statements" and typing in the data)?
