Well now I know I'm not alone. I had the same problem.
Using quick repair will fix your balances, but
unfortunately it didn't fix the acct. #'s
becoming ??????. I had to enter all of them again, it
sucked! If you used bill pay through money, you'll find
that there may be a lot of account numbers to enter
again. I also could not connect with the two accounts I
use online. The following is what I received from a
Microsoft tech on fixing the online access issue, it
worked for me. I only had to do the first part. Good Luck.
Dear David,
Thank you for using Web Support. My name is Allen, and
I'll be assisting you with your case today.
To give the most accurate support possible, I would like
to give a brief summary of the question as I understand
it:
When you try to connect to the online services, you
receive the error message that the server cannot be
connected.
If I have misunderstood, please do not hesitate to let me
know.
Based on my research, the issue should not be related to
the sign-in issue. Let's perform the following steps to
troubleshoot the issue:
Note: please click File->Back Up to back up your current
file first.
1. On the Accounts & Bills menu, click Account List.
2. In the left pane, click Manage online services.
3. Click Modify services, and then follow the
instructions on the screen to disable the online
services. Be sure to choose the No, I'd like to
discontinue using direct online services option.
4. Please click Accounts & Bills->Online Services
Manager, and then click "Set up online services" to re-
enable the online services for the accounts.
Then, please check if the online service can be set up
successfully. If the issue persists, let's perform a
Clean Boot to avoid being blocked by third party programs:
1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the
quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then
click to clear the Process SYSTEM.INI File, Process
WIN.INI File, and Load Startup Items check boxes. You
cannot clear the Use Original BOOT.INI check box.
3. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide All
Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All
if it is not grayed out.
4. Click OK, and then click Restart to restart your
computer.
After the computer starts, check if you can connect to
the online services now.
Note: How to Return from a Clean Boot State
-------------------------------------
1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the
quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. On the General tab, click "Normal Startup - load all
device drivers and services".
3. Click OK. Click Restart when you are prompted to
restart your computer.
Please try my suggestions and let me know the results at
your earliest convenience. If anything is unclear, please
feel free to let me know. I will follow up with you as
soon as possible. I look forward to your reply.
Best regards,
Allen Chen
