    - 2004 Portfolio wrong data The portfolio section of money 2004 seems to work great with one major exception. The Dow Jones price index downloads the incorrect price. It keeps reporting that the price of the Dow is 9.xxx when the correct figure is 10,3xx.xx. NASDAQ and S&P are all working correctly. I have money 2004 installed on another computer which reports the correct amount for the Dow. Obviously I have something setup wrong but I have been over and over it. Suggestions please.     - Errors In the accounts list the balance shown on my checking account is 287.24 less than what it is on the check register. The check register is correct. The only check of that ammount was written in 2002 if that means anything. I am using Money 2004 Standard on a new notebook. The error started after the first days of software use.     - Null a transaction, not delete How do I null/suppress a transaction that is nonsense. For example, my bank charge a fee by mistake, and correct it later. I have now two transactions in the statement. It's no use to categorize it, and I don't want it to show up in any reports or similar things. But at minimum, I just want to keep them stay within the account as two transactions. so I don't want to delete them permanently. Is there a way for my purpose?     - Text search function in Money I am using the Money 2002, and I have entered 2 years of transactions. Some of them I put detailed note in the memo field of the transaction for future reference. When I doing my tax, I like to pull up piece information here and there from Money, so I tried Search function. In the advanced search box, when I choose all account (credit card, bank, cash) to search for word "tax", it only returns those payee field containing "tax". It just skips/ignores the memo field of each transaction. I look around, but not seeing anywhere having option to search "all text field". Any suggestion to solve this?     - Using OFX with Netbank Not a question, but a problem I saw on Googlegroups without a resolution (example below). I've found a solution that worked for me. Just want to post it so it can get onto Google (or the FAQ?) for those who face it in the future. When setting up Netbank and using the same userid & password that I've been using for years, I get an error message indicating that there's a problem with my username or password. Netbank support says they don't know much about MS Money and can't really help. Solution: Down at the bottom of the list of banks, there's a bank called 'zzzNetbank'.     - Mass Update for Multiple Entries - Assign Category I am currently using Money 2003 Deluxe. I could really use some help here to save me some time. What I do is download my account entries from my bank. When doing so, if the payee details are the same as an earlier entry the category information defaults to an earlier entry. This is great and saves me a lot of duplicate work. I have a lot of entries from UPS as I ship with them daily. That being said, the payee information is always different for these entries since as it includes the tracking number which is unique for each package. Because of this, the category information does not get filled out automatically. I can have 60 entries for UPS and have to go through them 1 by 1 and apply the same category to each.     - invoicing for expenses In Money 2004 Small Business, I can't figure out how to include reimbursable expenses on an invoice. When I click on the box on the invoice, it tells me that there are no reimbursable expenses to insert. When I follow the instruction to create them, it gives me the choice of creating deposit, withdrawal or transfer in the account register, which doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone help?     - Need to Transfer Files Between Money and Quicken I've got an interesting problem here. I need to transfer files between Money 2002 and Quicken Premium 2004. The first four attempts at having Quicken read exported QIF files has been a disaster. Quicken is absolutely no help. Their built-in help is referring me to webpages that don't exist. There is supposed to be a tool to convert the file format, but the fine print says it is for converting between previous versions of Quicken and Quicken 2004, but it "may work" for converting Money files. A Quicken guru says I need to export Money files to XML in order to bring the files into Quicken. Can Money 2002 do this? Anyone have experience with this type of problem?     - Mortgage Payments Hello all, I recently switched from Quicken, and I'm confused about how to pay my mortgage payment electronically, while having it update my mortgage loan account appropriately. I am already set up to pay bills electronically, through my bank, and it works fine. I have set up my home mortgage in MS Money 2004, and it seems correct. Here's my dilemma: If I go to the Bills & Deposits area, select my mortgage bill, and pay the bill using the Pay Online button, it pays my bill electronically, and makes and entry in my checking account register -- but it doesn't use the split categories for principal, interest, insurance, taxes, etc. that I set up, and it doesn't update my home mortgage loan account, deducting the principal. Instead, it categorizes the entire payment amount to "Bills : Mortgage Payment". If I go to my Home Mortgage account, click the New button, select "Make a regular loan payment", enter the payment date and account, and click OK, it enters the transaction correctly in both my checking register (with all of the proper split categories) and my home mortgage register (deducting the proper amount of principal automatically) -- but it doesn't actually make the electronic payment. Once you set it up, this was fairly easy to do in Quicken, in one easy step. I'm sure it must be similar in MS Money 2004, but I can't figure it out.     - Dealing with downloaded statement format Ok, I've set up a credit card account in money. When I download my statement from my credit card company, a lot of the company names are really long with a lot of garbage, shortenend, etc. I'm just wondering what people do to solve this? If you don't do anything, it will add a lot of weird names to yoru payee list. I like to keep things nice and neat. Is it possible to first download in Excel, format, and then import into Money?     - Duplicate E-Pay entries in register I have Money 2003 Deluxe & Business. Whenever I submit an epay from the Bills & Deposits screen, occasionally some of these epay items have a duplicate entry showing in the checking account register. The duplicate item is in italics and cannot be deleted. The first entry shows up correctly and I've verified that it was submitted to the bank. The duplicate entry was not transmited to the bank.     - Problem with budget - budget limits I'm having a slight problem with my budget. On the "Review Your Current Budget" screen where it lists your Actual vs. Budgeted items, my budgeted amount is not being filled in so it keeps saying that my expenses exceed my budgeted amount when in fact I am within my budgeted amount. For instance I have a $40 cell phone bill due every month, and I have set it up in my budget all nice and neat. But on that review screen it shows the following: Category Budgeted Actual Difference Bills : Cell phone 40.00 0.00 (40.00) It's really annoying me because some of my other things will show up, but that one and a few others won't. They are set up in my Bills & Deposits also. Hopefully this makes sense. I've checked everything and it still won't fill in that budgeted amount.     - Invisible Downloaded Transactions Recently, I downloaded my banking transactions as usual, but when I clicked "Transaction to View: 13" nothing showed up. This happened to two banking accounts that had been happily working for months. I tried upgrading to MSM 2004 so I could use the File Repair more easily, but that didn't work either. Unviewable transactions continue to add up with the exception of my Collateral Mortgage account: when I do downloads to *it*, the system crashes and sends an error report. I've got tons of expense data in my bank account files that I don't want to trash, and entering by hand isn't very fulfilling.     - recurring deposit missing in budget When I created a recurring deposit with an end date, it shows up on the reports but not when I edit the budget.     - Money & Versacheck Memo Line I'm running Money 2004 OEM Edition and the latest Versacheck 2004 Silver. When I try to print to the Versacheck print driver, the memo line does not print where it is supposed to... almost overlays the MICR line. Depending upon the *MONEY* font chosen the problem appears on all 3 checks on a page, the top check only, or the bottom check only. Seems to be no rhyme or reason why the font change makes a difference. All other fields pass through correctly from Money to Versacheck. Versacheck tech support has been less than helpful, to put it mildly. At one point they said don't bother using memos!     - ATM as Payment Method in 03 Bills & Deposits? I'm surprised this hasn't been asked or mentioned before: I don't have the option of selecting "ATM" as the payment method in M03 Bills and Deposits. I have a weekly ATM cash withdrawl setup in B&D, the payment method is currently set as Other. The only way (I can see), to set the check number field to 'ATM' is, after entering the transaction into the register, click edit, and then select the value ATM from a list. The list presented in the register, for the number field (in the Withdrawal tab) appears to be the same list in B&D, absent the value ATM.     - Paying Bills - newbie question Hi Folks, I set up some bills in Money 2003 and when I enter the check into the register, it deducts the specified amount from the checking account as expected. However, when I actually pay the bill in real life with a check, my bank, of course, also registers it and it is logged as cleared check when I automatically update my checking account on line. So, the bill payment is being recorded twice in the checking account. Once when the actual check clears, and again when I ennter the bill into the register at payment time. Isn't there a way to assign a check transaction, which has been automatically downloaded from my bank, to pay a bill in MS Money? My Bank Download is a ".QFX" File format.
I am having problems trying ti import it into Microsaft
Money 2004. Can anyone give me some advice.

I tried going to "File" then "Import" then highlighting
the downloaded file and clicking "Import", but nothing
happens. The Sovereign Bank folks said the "QFX" file is
the one that should work with Microsoft Money. It looks
like its a kind of Quicken file but the "QFX" file
extension does not match the normal Quicken file
extensions cited in Money.

It is Quicken's version of an OFX file.

Are you getting the .qix file to the disk? You could try renaming it
to *.ofx and try the File->Import again.
