    - Download QIF file to update mortgage account I'm using Money 2004. I can setup a mortgage account, but I can't setup the online services for it. For my other bank acnts, I go the bank website, download history for the account and specify which acnt to update. When I try to download the mortgage transactions, Money asks which acnt to update and lets me select from a drop down list. My mortgage acnt is not on that list. I cannot type an entry into the field, only choose from the list. I also tried doing the download and creating a new acnt from it. Problem is, it won't let me create a loan account from the download.     - Money 2002 Statement Date and balance not updating I'm not sure how to post this question. In my checking account register, to the upper left if the actual register just below the date, there is a section of the screen with downloaded statement information. It lists the date of the last download, the balance reported by my bank at the time of the downloaded statement and the number of items from the statement I need to review. The problem is that this isn't updating as I download statements. Although I download a statement every other day, it still says my last statement was downloaded on 10/12/03 and my balance was $x.xx. Not critical, but annoying when I can't figure out why its not working. Seems to have coincided with the install of MS Office products. Any suggestions?     - spending thermometer Hi, I can't seem to get my monthly spending thermometer to work. For example, I've logged into my register this month about $100 in the catagory gasoline but the "thermometer" on the bottom of the register says you've spent $0 on gasoline this month. I've exhausted all the help options and set the proper FYI options but I still can't get it to read right.     - Download from Bank Debit Card I am a new user of 2003 deluxe and have been trying to donwload my statements. This works, but all the Vendor information comes to me in the "Memo" line and the workds"Debit Card Pruchase" comes in the "payee" line. The problem is compounded when I try to go through the register and reverse the lines manually as Money automatically changes all of the other "Debit Card Purchase" to whatever I copy to the payee line....I have about 700 entries to reconcile so I hope that Microsoft has a way to deal with these problems.     - copying projects list in classification 1 to projects list in business module I have used MS Money Small Business since it came out but I'm "locked-out" of the invoicing features because my projects list is in Classification 1 (as suggested by Microsoft when Money first came out) rather than the dedicated projects list in the business module. Can these two databases be linked? Can the project number- names in Classification 1 be copied and pasted to the projects list in the business module? The latter was suggested by MS support in India but the edit functions cut/copy/paste are grayed-out in Classification 1 so this doesn't seem to be a viable option. If I want to use the invoicing features of Small Business Edition, am I stuck with manually recreating my project list in the business module? If I want to continue using the Classification 1 field in reports, do I have to manually keep the two project list data bases consistent?     - MS 2004 deluxe + WIndows XP pro = disaster! I purchased MS 2004 deluxe and installed it under my Windows XP pro. Each time I tried to launch Money it says Money encounters some error and has to be shutdown. Judging from the error message it appears to be a memory access problem. I tried to get some online support but no luck. The program doesn't even let me get to the "help" page to read id number, which is required for the online support. Called free phone support but after long wait they transfered me to game tips ( I have to pay long distance charge). This is really a joke and I am very angry at myself to pay for a useless CD. No offense to people using it but have to say the product is a piece of crap! Some kind guy out there who knew a solution please help me out.     - Memorize Catagories? Can Money memorize categories? I recently switched from Quicken, so I'm not that familiar with Money (Canada 2004). When I reconcile, I like to keep track of what I've paid for gas, groceries, etc. I'm trying to update from the last year, but I have to manually insert "groceries" with every interac payment to "Steves YIG". Will Money ever learn that all transactions from "Steve's" will always be groceries?     - Cannot Save to Money Database File Hello everyone, everytime I try to make a change to my money database file, it tells me that it's in use by another application. I have a feeling that it may be corrupt, however the my backup is about 6 months old. As a result, I don't want to loose what's in it. Two questions: Can I fix the current problem?     - M04: Car lease Trying Money 2004 Trial; want to add a car lease as a liability, associated car as an asset. Seems that only a loan can be associated (very different result due to residual value). I can of course forget the asset, and only add the lease as a monthly bill.     - Money 2003 Reports issue I'm preparing to pay Sales Tax collected from my customers for the third quarter. I invoiced a customer in Aug. but I received payment from them in Oct. The Sales Tax Collected report for the third quarter correctly does not show that sale in Aug. But the Sales Report does.     - EPay Date and Status Hi, In Money 2001 when a transaction was paid with epay it used the date of the transaction, but in 2002 and 2003 if I have a transaction for the 20th and set it to EPay on the 5th (not changing the dates but actually on the 5th set the epay for the 20th) Money will move the transaction to 15th or so.     - help with money 2003 custom reports Hi! I need to submit a report at work for all business related expenses for 2003. I have created a custom report labeled "Work Expenses" and then proceded to select only the expense categories that I need to be included, ie. cell phone, computer expenses, etc. The problem seems to be that every single transaction for the entire category or subcategory appears, generating quite a long report. I would like to just list the subtotals if possible. Can this be done? I can't seem to figure it out......... Also, some of the categories, like cell phone, are used for home and personal use. I realize that when entering these transactions, that i could do a split transaction, with a separate catagory like, work expenses:cell phone, but this seems to make it more difficult when viewing my budget and monthly expenses. I would like to be able to create a report where i could manually adjust the figures, such as $2000 for yearly cellphone use divided by 50% for work use, and submit $1000 to my employer.     - More Money Annoyances... I have downloaded a couple of bank statements direct from the internet, which Money 2003 recognised as they were downloaded and intercepted. I am now reminded to 'review' the statements when I go to my money home page. However, when I click on the relevant accounts, no sign of the transactions ! What gives ? I have a standing order that goes from a dollar account to a sterling account at a fixed sterling rate (ie the dollar rate varies with the exchange rate). How do I set this up in Money 2003 ? I can set up transfers/orders etc in the account's own currency, but not to a fixed amount in the destination account's currency....is this possible ? I would also like to enter cash withdrawals in Saudi Riyals, to be taken from my US dollar account (ie I enter the sum in Riyals and it takes the correct amount for that day from the USD account). Is this possible ? Also, is it possible to enter a fixed cost-per-withdrawal for ATM charges ? Also, where in Money 2003 can I look up today's currency rates ?     - Payee Matching Is there anyway to use wildcards when setting up Payee matching?? When I download trasactions, the payee names are almost always a little different so I end up with 40 different version of Safeway with some 20 digit number behind it. Wouldn't it be nice if you could put *Safeway* in the payee matching?? Seems like such a simple thing. That's the one thing that has always bugged me about Money. Does Quicken do that?     - Invoice Layout, and emailing non-text invoices Two questions regarding Invoices in MSM2004 Business: I created a custom landscape invoice based on a landscape template, but when I view it in the viewer it is trying to cram it into a portrait layout. After messing with it for 20 minutes I gave up and created one from a portrait template and (you guessed it) it tries to cram that one into a landscape format! WTH? Balances change when column sorted When I am in an account and sort on a column, e.g. Payee - The balance changes to some rediculus amount, and will not change back to the original when I sort on "date. When I import the latest balance from an on-line account and I read the statement, the balances are correct. But when I go to the Account page, where the balance should be,e,g, $5,000.00, it shows the balance to be ($104,000). Does anyone know how to get to the correct balance again? I tried opening Money with Start->Run and entering "msmoney -s". It said it was repairing the file, but I had the same strange balances. Thanks for your help, R. H.     - Budget Problems - MS Money 2004 I have tried to create a budget several times using both the options available. However, the numbers are not correct for one category: Wages & Salary: Net Pay. The annual budget is way off ... as much as times what it should be. When I look at the monthly budget for this category ... January is correct, Feb is 21/2 times what it should be, Mar is 5 times as much, April is about 41/2 times,May is about 4 times, etc. In trying to figure out what the problem is, I noticed that information I had previously created as a reoccurring deposit for my salary and deleted is somehow still being used by the program. This is in addition to the figures that I entered under the customize option. However, it is not consistently used. I have tried to edit the category but the program won't let me do so. I even removed this category from the budget, but all that happens, was that the program attributed deleted information to the Wages & Salary [All]. Does anyone have a solution?     - Large Numbers for Balances I just started using MONEY 2003. After I set up three accounts using the set up assistant and entered some transactions I tried to balance one of the accounts. The audio portion of the program indicated that it could not balance the account because the starting balance was different than what I had entered in the window that is displayed when I clicked on the "Balance this account" option. When I click on the "Account List" in the tool bar all three accounts are displayed with a huge red number in pararentheses for the balance e.g. ($801,447,300,967,264.45) However when I go to the "change account details" under "common tasks" for a particular account to try to correct the balance it does not show this number but the correct number that I input using the setup assistant.     - MSN billpay OR paytrust? i am currently with PayMyBills/PayTrust service for online bill presentment... Do I want to stay with this cuz I still have to enter the info into MoneyDlx04? Also, on a modem access can be slow with viewing the scanned items. With MSN BillPay it seems everything is a more seamless and tighter integration to the Money software (i believe it uses CheckFree service which i had used years ago). I thought that online bill presentment would be the way to go cuz i hated opening all that mail, but now i am not so sure cuz i still have to enter and setup these payments in Money cuz my bank is not a "smart balance" bank in PayTrust.     - Problem loading backup file into Money 2001 Hello, I was wondering if anyone could offer any insight into my problem. Recently, my Dell computer died, albeit slowly enough that I was able to back up most of my files to CD. The issue has arisen in that now, once I've replaced my computer and reinstalled Microsoft Money 2001 (from a Microsoft Works CD), it will not let me load my backed up files again. It asks for a password, though there was never any password on the file originally. I've tried 'OK' with a blank password and tried cancelling without entering anything, but no luck.     - Investments to Watch default account MS Money 2004 problem: I deleted the default "Investments to Watch" Account in my portfolio, and can't get it back. This default account had a little binocular symbol next to it, and allowed me to select indexes tor track.     - file download problem from paf file in email, plus missing system.ini hi, if alan edwards is out there anyplace please contact me for help. this is jennifer. shortly after you helped me last, my computer crashed completely. in leaving my email address posted under the discussion board, i got swen from letting my daughter use the computer while away. i had to carry it to the man who made the system(i am disabled), and he had to reload it all, and lost most everything, including your address. i am trying to either re-download a paf file which is a big geneology file, or open the copy on here under my documents. somehow, it still shows under my documents, but when i click it, am unable to open it. it asks me what to open it with...then adobe pops up. it's been so aggravating. i did wonder if i need to download a new unzip program, tried that too, it didn't work, and now, i can't get the icon off for that. it's been a mess! i have tried looking for the extra plug-ins, but there is nothing under the exetension key, like the last time. i don't think this has to do with exe files this time...i do think it has to do with upgrading to oe 6, and downloading updates from the site. i have updated my computer with microsoft updates, and now have norton anti-virus. i can't open, or save it. nothing. also, my dau. downloaded a new stationary program 4 days after getting the computer running again....200.00 later. since then, i get the message"system.ini" missing. i took off the stationary, reading posts saying it somtimes has to do with music, and the stationary played music. i know some of the components are still on here because the screen saver is. i've tried to locate system.ini, and re-download. it says it is there, but when i try to open it, it can't find it. i get 2 screens at start-up...sys.ini missing, with vnetsup.vxd, next page, same thing with dfs.vxd. please post if you can help, anyone, esp. alan, if you happen to see this. i lost your address in my address book with everything else. the biggest problem is access to the geneo file...it's over 20 years of hard work, that i can't get to now. i orig. posted with my new email and was bombarded with more swen viruses....25 a day, so again, i had to change my email. as a warning to everyone....DO NOT POST YOUR EMAIL HERE! it's a nightmare. if any tech support people know alan, please ask him to post with his email. he was so kind to me, and i'm afraid to leave my email again, since the virus emails start all over. thanks so much. jennifer in tennnessee Tag: Download from BB&T has duplicate check numbers Tag: 152332

    - Money 2004 Trial I have been using the US version of Microsoft Money 2001 for a few years now and have no reason to upgrade until recently when i purchased a pocket pc with the latest operating system. I have downloaded the trial of Money 2004 and been using it on my PC and Pocket PC and are happy with the results. The problem is that as I am no longer living in the US i cannot upgrade it on line or through the Microsoft shop. I also tried purchasing from Amazon but they also would not ship it internationally. Does anyone have any suggestions as to my options I have many years of information that I dont wish to lose and my data file is not compatible with the international version and there is only Money 2004 available for the pocket pc available for the US version anyway. I am using Money 2001 Deluxe & Business. I recently
opened a checking account at BB&T (Branch Banking & Trust
Company). When I download account information (via their
web site), the debit card transactions have a zero in the
field, according to the bank online help people.
Microsoft Money replaces the zero with the most recent
check number found in the download. For example, if I
download check number 127, followed by two debit card
transactions, it looks like:

127 Check $45.27
127 Martins $53.12
127 Citgo $19.50

Has anyone else seen this before? Is there a known
solution? The bank says that it is not their problem to
fix.
