I have one file with two accounts. I want to split the
two accounts separate files but it appears this cannot be

changing print field locations
I have money 2000. Is there a way to adjust the field
positions when printing checks. I have hundreds of fan
fold wallet sized check blanks that were purchased for
Money Counts 8.0 [Parsons Technology]. The one thing I
loved about MC 8.0 was being able to adjust what was
printed where.
Would it help to purchase Money 2004??

Beginning balance in reports shouldn't be there
I have a beginning balance in my Reimbursable Expenses accout that I cannot
figure out. I report ALL dates, ALL everything and it just shows up as a
beginning balance that I can't click on to get detail or find a way to
report on. How might I search and find this huge amount that clearly isn't
correct. It seems to me that if I report all the beginning balance must be
zero.
There is no detail with that amount anywhere although it is my House asset
beginning balance. Could I have done some sort of weird archive thing a year
or so ago and that's where it's coming from? Anyway, I want it gone!
I tried to work this through with MS support a while back. We did all sorts
of things that didn't work. Salvage. Deleting and recreating my house
account (since that number was it's beginning balance). The following was
the most telling process.
I ran salvage. First time had some broken system records, second time clean.
I closed all accounts. Created a new account transaction report for only the
reimbursable expenses. No expenses showed, just transfers. There is still a
large beginning balance. I changed the category of the report to a random
one and the same thing happens. If I remove all accounts from the report I
get a zero beginning balance. Slowly adding them in I find as expected that
the House account is the culprit. Still, it makes no sense, nor do I know

unrealized gain report errors
This just started in '04. I'm running Mony 99 Financial
Suite v7.0. When I record the sale of a partial lot of
stock, the cost column is not updating to reflect the
cost accross a smaller number of shares.
i.e. - I have 200 shares of xyz at a cost of $10/ea for a
total lot cost of $2000. Prior to entering a partial lot
sale, the unrealized gain calc is correct. When I enter
a partial sale of 50 shares, the cost column remains
fixed at $2000 rather than recalculating the cost basis
at $1500. The unrealized gain is now calculated at
current price - $13.33 ($2000/150 shares) rather than the
correct number of $10 per share.
I know about selecting lots to min/max gain/loss. That's
not the problem here. This is a single lot of 200 shares. Tag: Don't want to link Tag: 158439
Sum errors in Performance Investments reporting
A couple or errors have been introduced into the reporting
section of Money 2000 Deluxe. These are summing errors
that do not show in any accounts. They corrupt the total
value of investments, realized gains/loss and percentage
of gains. Is there any way to locate this erroronous data

Unrealized Capital Gains Reports
This is a new problem. When I sell a partial lot of a
given stock, and refresh the "Portfolio Value by Account
or Investment" report, the cost column doesn't change to
reflect the lower share count. Here is a specific
example:
Have 200 share of xyz at a cost of $20/share. Prior to
selling a partial lot, the report gives the correct
unrealized gain information with a total cost of $4,000.
When I sell 50 shares, and refresh the report, the cost
column stays at $4000 and recalculates the unrealized
gain of the remaining 150 share as if the remaining
shares were at a cost of $26.66 ($4000/150) instead of a

Money for Small Business 2004 Budget
When I try to open the Monthly Budget report it stalls
in "loading". This only happens on Personal-Monthly
Budget. All other reports open immediately.

Anchoring Check Register
Is there any way to "anchor" the check register in Money
2003 so that it is not necessary to CONSTANTLY have to use
two scrollbars to put the thing in the position where I

checking accounts
I have three checking accounts and when I am in one of
them and ask to find certain checks the answer comes back
from all accounts and I do not understand this. Why not

flagging duplicate checks and skipped checks
Is there any way to get money to flag duplicate checks
and skipped check numbers? I can't find anything about
this anywhere. Why wouldn't it do this automatically? I
am currently using 2003, maybe they fixed this in 2004.

Replicated Transactions
I recently upgraded to Money 2004 Standard OEM Edition
from MOney 2002 Delux & Business. Everytime I start Money
2004, iit seems to replicate transactions in several
accounts. I have not been able to figure out how it picks
the accounts or the transactions to replicate. Ii have to
void the transactions because it will not let me delete
all of them. Some transactions have been replicated 8-10
times. I can delete on of the replicants but after the
first one I get a message that states the transaction
cannot be entered.
This is a real pain is the a##! Is anyone else having

Reconciling Paid Invoice and Bank Statement (Small Business)
To record an invoice payment I follow these steps:
1- I use the "receive payment for invoice" functionality
in the A/R screen. This action results in a transaction
posted in my bank account.
2- I deposit the check at the bank.
3- I wait for the bank transaction to be electronically
transferred into money.
My question is: how do I match the electronic transaction
with the one generated by money when I received the
payment? Money will not let me match the transaction
manually and, if I delete it, it is downloaded again the
next time.

Importing my bank statement online
Hi, I have money 2001 and want to start importing my monthly statements, which appears to be easy from my credit union web site. When I click 'import statement' after selecting an .ofx filetype, I get a box that says 'statement loaded successfully; will import into money the next time money is opened'. But, when I open money, nothing happens, I'm not prompted to do anything, and I can't find the file anywhere; it never asks me if I want to save the file to a particular place. Any suggestions? Archiving
I wanted to save about three years of files which I have
on Money and I clicked on "Archive" to put them on a cd.
Since I did that, I have them on the cd but every time I
close Money now, it pops up a message that I have files
to copy on the cd.
How can I get this to stop?????

Money 2004 problems with Money 2002 File
I recently had my file system get corrupted on me and
have had various other problems with my comp so I bought
a new Sony that came with Money 2004 Standard. My
previous version of Money was 2002. I used another
computer and File Scavenger and managed to recover my
money file. When I opened it with Money 2004 I typed in
my password and it pops up with "Money has encountered a
problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience."
I thought that maybe it had been corrupted but I opened
it in on my laptop in Money 2002 and it works fine. So I
am wondering if there is some conversion I need to do. I
tried to repair the file in 2004 and it said the version

Clearing History
I had Money 2002 installed on my computer and used it for
a while. I would like to start fresh with it at this

Assign a Tax Category to a Transfer
How do I assign a tax category to a TRANSFER transaction
within Money?
Specifically, my paycheck is set-up as a split
transaction with tax withholding properly assigned to
various categories. However, my 401K contribution is
actually a TRANSFER to another account and should be
reflected as a reduction against my taxable salary. But,
this (transfer) contribution is not showing up in any of

Posting Cash Transactions to my Checking Account
I often give my doctors cash as my copayment or pay for my
prescriptions with cash, etc. At year-end, when I itemize
my tax deductions, these transactions are not included.
Is there any way to record these transactions as a "memo"
item that is recorded but does not effect the balance or
is looking to be reconciled.

I just purchased a pocket pc with a 2003 operating
system...and the Money Pocket Pc appears only to be
compatible with 2002 operating systems....

Worthless Budgeting
I am absolutely sick of the Money budget. I have wasted
a number of family weekends trying to get it to work.
They certainly did not do their homework on this one.
Sure there are some cool bells and whistles but they
missed the foundation of money management software
BUDGETING!
A few issues:
1) You can't set budget amounts for budget groups?
ex. The budget group food has to subcatagories, Groceries
and Dining Out. I want to set an overall budget amount
fot food (which is not possible in Money Budget) but
track my expenses for Dining Out and Groceries.
This also applies to Vacations, Misc. and any other
Budget Group that you want to set a budget amount for but
could care less (for budgeting purposes) which category
the money will be spent.
2) Money has categories set up under Residence
for "Mortgage Payment" and under Auto for "Car Payment".
This works great unless, of course, you set up your house
and car loan as liability and asset accounts (as you
should to manage your loans, worth, and account
balances). In this case, Money auto assigns these to
special categories which are auto assigned to a debt
catagory in the budget. Thus you can not budget for them
under residence and auto budget groups.
To make it right, Microsoft should redesign the budget to
work in a real world then offer an update free to
download.
Sorry if I seem frustrated but I have been working on
this for a year to no avail. The fine folks at support
did call me back with a work around (which I have not
been able to make work). But I don't want a work around

Money 2004 and Computer Slow Down
Help!!! I purchased and loaded MONEY 2004 Deluxe this
weekend and put it on my Windows 98SE w/512mb ram machine
(Dell Pentium III) and now my whole computer runs like
molasses!!! Anyone have any idea what is going on? I
suspect it is a conspiracy to force people like me into a
hardware upgrade. In addition, the program often "hangs"
for no apparent reason. I run the machine on a home
network with a router and I use Norton Antivirus, but I've
shut those things down before I use the program due to the
numerous warnings I've read on this and other

Re-installation
I had been a user of Quicken for ten years and decided to
try MS-Money. I downloaded the 2004 deluxe trial version
and was very pleased with the product so I licensed the
trial version through the MS site. I now would like to
change the computer that I use for running this program.
Since I never really had a full installation version, how
do I re-install this program?
I installed the trial version on the new computer
and then did a backup restore from my MS-Money backup
file. This just made the 60-day trial version expire. I
have the Microsoft Money 2004 Activation Key # that was
given to me when I licensed the product online, but found
no place to use this number when re-installing the program.
I would appreciate some feedback.

sign in name
Due to my busy schedule I have not worked with my
investment/checking account files in Money 2002 since June
2003. Now when I try to open my files I receive an error
message that my sign in name does not exist. I have sent
numerous e-mails to Microsoft support and am told that
after three months of inactivity the file sign in name is
invalid. How can I open my files and retrieve my data?
Support says I must start a new file and re-enter the

Budget Just Plain Worthless
It is amazing that after years of creating Money, now '04 they cannot create
a program that will just be consistent with budget numbers. I have
reinstalled all data from scratch, recreated budgets, tried most of
everything. However, after budget numbers are set then the reports show
totally different numbers as being set for the budget. There is no
explanation as to why. That is just incredible for Microsoft, otherwise I

categorize multiple transactions to the same Payee at once?
I have a year's worth of transactions from my bank, credit
cards, etc and I'm looking for the simplest way to
categorize them. I thought I could sort by Payee and
select all of the same payees and categorize them at once

can't see transactions - new install
I just 'installed' Money tonite, and went through the entire setup. I downloaded the transactions for the last 3 months from my bank - and Money says there are 101 items to review - but not one shows up in the transaction list

can't see downloaded transactions
I have been downloading financial transactions directly
from my bank just fine until this weekend. After the
download, Money shut down. When I restarted, it showed on
my checking account that I had 20 items to review, but I
couldn't find them in my ledger.
When I tried to download the same data from the bank's Web
site and them import them into Money the same thing
happened: Money crashed.
Repairing the Money file does not solve the problem.
Any clues what the problem might be?

No permission to save in directory
when trying to save a backup copy to cd of my file with
money 2003 like i've always done, it tells me its an
illegal file name or the disk is write protected. when I
browse to the latest backup on the disk it tells me i
don't have permission to save in this directory, see the
administrator. I am the only user on this pc. i get the
same thing if I try to copy any files to any cd on this
drive using the file explorer. but I can write music
files to this drive using other software, and I can save
to the c: drive ok. this used to work fine but suddenly

Changing Mortgage Start Date
Hey everyone - I recently tried to enter in my mortgage
loan information into Money 2002 but it won't allow me to
have a start date prior to the first of this year. I
purchased the home in the summer of 2003 but I can't
figure out how to change the start date to then. Money
tells me that the start date must be 1/1/04 or later...

Can't convert Quicken 2001 files
I am installing the new Money 2004. The CD instructions
could not convert my Qicken Files and I can not proceed.
Is this because Money 2004 does not convert Quicken 2001.
I tried to get help through the Microsoft online support
but can not find the product ID number. the list of
product numbers does not list Money 2004. Help I can not
load my new program.

Cannot download two separate accts from one bank
I have an account and my wife has another at the same
bank. we have separate Member IDs and PINs. Now I
followed the instructions in Money that says to just
rename the bank to something that identifies hers and
mine. Well I did that. But when I try to logon and
download her statements it says to verify user info and
password. I verified all that with the bank, they say
it's correct. Does Money send my real name and check if

Money 2004 Problem
Reports in 2004:
1. different from previous money version.
2. Double spaces on some report didn't on previous version
3. Transfers via category causes the entrt to disappear
for awhile then it reappears.
? ? Why is it that Microsoft messes up the good features
when they release new versions.
4. be CAREFUL using online HELP they are confused about
Money 2004.

Transfer out of budget
In Money 2003, I have an item showing actual $0, budgeted
$67.00 in a category "transfers out of budget accounts".
This category only shows when I look at reports - when I
go to categories to try and delete it, it doesn't show
up. This is only budgeted in one month (Jan). I know
what category this needs to be in, but I have looked
everywhere and cannot backtrack and find this entry so I
can change it.
Any ideas on how to fix it, and how in the heck did it get
there in the first place?

Income/exenses will not transfer to taxable items
I upgraded from 2003 Standard to 2004 Deluxe last year.
Income and expenses, since upgrade, will not transfer to
taxable items account. Therefor exporting to a tax program
is worthless. I've followed there instructions to the T.

Manage Bills and Deposits -Money 2004
On the Manage Scheduled Bills and Deposits Page for Money
2004, there is an automated message in red for each
bill/deposit which is past due. This makes it difficult
to scan the list. Does anyone know how to turn
this "feature" off?

What do you mean by link your accounts? No linking to MoneyCentral
will occur without your explicit action. Is that what you mean?
Given another interpretation, I could suggest that File->New... will
let you set up as many independent Money files as you like. This
would be good for people who maintain separate finances.
Set it up and when it asks about collecting the information to link, click
Cancel.
