Does "Balance this account" EVER work?

Every time I try to balance an account, I get the error where I have to
close everything down, start up the salv.exe program, and fix the My Money
file. Once I start it back up, I can balance the account. Certainly, this
is a royal pain. Is there a permanent fix for this?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

It works here every time. What version are we talking? Just one account or
all accounts? Have you read the FAQ article "I think my file has been
corrupted. How do I tell? What do I do then?", in the FAQ available at

I'm sorry about the initial lack of details. It's "Money 2003 Deluxe
Version 11.0 Update 1". This does occur every time I start up Money, no
matter which account. However, after going through the salvage utility, I
can get the 3 or 4 accounts balanced.

I did read that FAQ, which is how I found out about the salvage utility.

I think you may have some underlying "corruption" that is never getting
completely fixed. The only way to prove this is going to be something like
the "binary deletion" scheme to try and isolate the cause. This may be a
situation where a support case directly with Microsoft is your best bet.
