    - Holding Different Currencies in Same Account.. I'm using the Canadian version of Money 2004. I was wondering if its possible to hold two different currencies in the same brokerage account (ie: US dollars and Canadian dollars). Money is set up now to show all my cash holdings in my brokerage account in Canadian dollars. As soon as I try to tranfer US dollars to my account money converts it to Canadian and combines it with any of the Canadian dollars I'm holding. I would like to be able to tranfer US funds to this same brokerage account and have them remain separate from the Canadian cash and show me with two cash holdings.     - transactions automatically entered into accounts Recent switched from MONEY 2004 to 2006. As transactions are automatically found and downloaded, they are automatically entered into the acounts in the account register without allowing me to look it over and ensure the right spending category is recorded - - - in MONEY 2004 you were required to 'accept' the downloaded transaction where you could assign a spending category.     - 529 Plan I have one 529 plan, which can be shared by multiple children (I do this reduce custodial fees). I would like the lifetime planner to allow me to point to one 529 account for two children, instead of each child needing their own. What this causes in lifetime planner is to show one child with excessive money after college, while indicating that I am paying for all of the college expenses from current cash flow for the other.     - Losing online setup I have had Money 2006 lose the online setup for a credit union and a credit card. I then have to go back and try and setup the online services again. When Money finds my accounts, it adds them as duplicates of the existing accounts that still exist.     - Money 2006 bankground banking problems I have one bank and two credit cards which appear to use OFX Direct/Bankground Banking - Money 2006 says it made successful calls to all 3, but there are no transactions to review (I am not automatically accepting transactions in the global settings), when I know there indeed are.     - Deferred Comp Account in Lifetime Planner? I am having trouble figuring out how to put a deferred comp retirement account in Lifetime Planner. The def comp account takes pretax money out of my salary and is matched by my employer. It is a retirement account, but it is different from most in that it must be distributed at retirement. In this case in two annual installments. I beilve that LP assumes that retirement accounts are distributed last only after all taxable accounts are consumed. (unless age 70.5 comes first).     - Money downloads bank information from MSN Billpay Wondering if I'm just doing something stupid. I use MSN Billpay and had used Microsoft Money. Long story but I dropped using Money last year because I had a ton of online data issues I couldn't fix. I kept using the web interface for Billpay. Anyway, I gave Money 2006 a whirl. It recognized that my passport had stuff on the MSN Money site linked to it. It downloaded the payment bank information from MSN Billpay into Money as a bank. But it thinks the financial institution is MSN Billpay, not my bank. So, now I can't set it up to download the actual statements. Anyone know if I'm missing something basic here?     - 2006 Yodlee changes? The fact that you're using Yodlee to sync shouldn't require a Passport or data on MS servers. Password and other info could be held on your local PC like other online services, or accessed via an existing Yodlee account.     - Can't find a way to enter Employee Stock Options for foreign stock I tried everything and still can't find a way to enter Employee Stock Option for a stock denominated in foreign currency (Euro for example). Microsoft support reproduced the problem - case# SRX050720601835. Was anyone able to find a way to do this? The help says that money supports investments in foreign currencies and as well as Employee Stock Options.     - Custom investment types I have been waiting patiently for Money to support custom investment types (besides the stock "small cap stock", "bond", etc). I know 2006 again doesn't support this.     - How do you reallocate yearly expenses in monthly budget? I have been using MS Money since 1995, but JUST started using the Budget feature. I can't figure out how to reallocate yearly expenses on a monthly basis. For example, I have Computer:Supplies in my budget for 80.00 per year (ink, etc.). So the budget shows 7.00 per month. However, when I purchased ink for 17.00 this month, I am over budget by 10.00. I can reallocate next month's amount for 7.00, but I am still 3.00 short. How can I make Money understand that the 17.00 should come out of the 80.00 and not show that it is an expense Overbudget? How does everyone else handle this problem?     - QIF file import problem in Money 2006 Hello, after upgrading to Money 2006, when I manually import a QIF file containing my credit card statement, the import dialog box proceeds normally and the account register shows the cradit card account has 20 transactions to review- but when I open the credit card account to review them they are not visible.     - Question indirectly related to Money 2004/2005 Hi all, I've got a question that is indirectly related to Money 2004 onwards. I have designed a software application for recipes that has an interface similar to Money 2004+, in the following ways: 1. UI Layout is the same (ie, Menubar, toolbar, taskpad, main panel, help pane, etc) 2. A tabbed toolbar like Money 2005 is also included 3. Color scheme for the menubar is similar to Money 2004 4. The task-based homepage is the same as in Money 2004, and uses the same color scheme, style and layout. The html and css files of Money were used as a starting/learning point. I would also like to point out, that: 1. All controls (including menubar, toolbar, taskpad, etc) have been developed from the ground up by myself 2. All icons in the program have been designed to be unique for the product. So my question (actually 2) is: 1. Is everything legal and am I allowed to develop such a product? 2.     - Bank Statement Download Issues I am downloading statements from our credit union and can only receive transactions through 6/6/2005. There are many transactions after this date that are displayed on the website, but they do not download. Is there a setting somewhere that is preventing transactions after 6/6/2005 from being downloaded? Another issue: The same account shows that there are transactions to be read, but I cannot them to indicate that they have been read. Please advise. Thanks in advance for your assistance.     - Download from Bank Troubles I need help. My wife downloaded our statements from our bank online. This is something we have done successfully within Money many times. However, this time there was approximately 4 months worth of transactions and it took several attempts to actually receive the download without Money crashing. We finally did it. The problem is that when we click on "Read Online Statements" or "Transactions to read: 980" the scroll bar loading it finishes and then the program just hangs. The computer's hard drive keeps working (and will continue to do so for up to 20 hours) but all to no avail. At that point we can't do anything with the program except end it through the task manager. The transactions never do display. How can I delete the information we downloaded from the bank? I'm thinking we'll be o.k. if we can do that. We'll then try downloading the 4 months of info in 4 or 5 smaller chunks. So, how do I delete the info?     - Budget and Account Transfers - Money 2006 Alright, I've been using Money 2003 for some time mainly as an electronic checkbook as it helps me balance easily from my bank. Well, I'm moving up to Money 2006, and trying to take advantage of some more of the features. I have a checking, savings, retirement, and home equity loan account. I want the home equity loan and retirement to show up as budgeted items, but they do not. I have read elsewhere that if you do not include those accounts in the budget then they will show up under "Transfers out of budget accounts". Well, I do that and they do not. I understand the idea behind cash flow, and debts and payments, but I still want it to show up in my budget. I've been using Excel for the longest time, but I'm duplicating efforts, and would like this budget to effectively show money leaving my checking and/or savings account.     - Bill Pay - Running Balance - GONE in Money 06! Just upgraded from Money 04 to Money 06 and the big thing I have lost is the ability to see my Running Balance and select Bills to be paid on the Bill Pay screen and have it affect my Balance. This is a great tool if you want to play whatif's and see how much you may want to move from the account based on what you have left after bills. But now it's gone in 06!     - Record home purchase q I've just purchased a home and want to record it in Money04. We added an asset account for the title company, to which we wrote checks. Upon closing the loan funded, the title company money cleared. I've created an asset for the house, linked to the loan no problem. Now I want to: 1) clear out the Title Company Escrow asset 2) Record the transaction expenses This is easy with normal double entry accounting as everything is recorded i.e. The loan funds would go to the asset, creating the loan liability & everything upon closing has a place, but I can't see an easy way in Money.     - Money keeps changing downloaded ATM withdrawls to Verizon. argh! For many years, Money recognized ATM withdrawls and assigned the correct payee and category automagically. I don't know what I did, but now every ATM withdrawl comes up as a telephone bill payment to Verizon and I have to manually change it. This happens regardless of the ATM withdrawl amount.     - Override Estimated Deposits My husband's paychecks are direct deposit. He is an hourly employee, therefore, the deposit amounts are not a set amount. I have a 'scheduled deposit' set-up to be entered on the day that his paycheck is deposited. The problem I am having with this setup is that when I download transactions from the bank, I have my estimated deposit amount PLUS the actual. Obviously, this can cause a problem if I'm not paying attention. My question: is there a way that I can make my estimated deposit amoutn be 'overridden' by the actual amount?     - MONEY 2006 PREMIUM AT COSTCO I went over to my local COSTCO warehouse store today and there was Money 2006 PREMIUM only. Price was $20 net. ($59.99 + $3.60 tax - $40.00 rebate = $23.59 for me) OK, so from what I'm reading on this group it looks like Microsoft and Costco are pushing the premium version this year with a whopping $40 rebate. I like dealing with Costco for rebates because you just go online, key in the data, wait a few weeks and you have your rebate without any problems. Now that I have the product in hand, I'm going to wait a little while before installing. It is early and I'm sure there will be a big push around the start of school in late August, early September. From what I've read here, most of you who had Money 2005 and upgraded have found no serious problems with Money 2006 so far. Since I enter my transactions manually anyway, I'm not expecting any significant new stuff. Maybe an easier back-up capability but the USB flash thing I started using last year seemed easier than the old floppies. The package says I get alot of freebees from the third party vendors but I will be very careful implementing them for fear they may screw up my current set-up which I'm very happy with. This marks 10 years for me with Money and although we all know the limitations of the program as far as budgeting and "automatic" data entry, I still find the product well worth my annual $25 contribution to Microsoft. Looking forward to reading more comments about Money 2006, especially if people are finding that Microsoft and their retail partners are pushing Premium more this year instead of Deluxe. I am able to log into my personal account with the software, but when I try to use another passport, the username and password are not accepted.     - Problems with Bill Pay Provider First time MS Money user here, just installed 2006 about a week ago. Everything has gone smoothly until attempting to use Bill Pay. I bank with Wachovia, who gives me free Bill Pay service. However, after adding my checking account the "Pay Online" button is grayed-out on the Bills tab. I can log into BillPay via Wachovia's website. How do I change the default BillPay provider from MSN BillPay Service to my free Wachovia BillPay Service? I called Wachovia, but they don't yet do tech support for Money 2006 (just 2005 and older). I tried going into Manage Online Services, but it seems to be a dead end.     - Money 2006 Error Message Just upgraded to Money Premium 2006 from Money Premium 2004. It was installed using the Admin account on the WinXP Pro computer. Rebooted, logged on using the Admin account again, and ran Money 2006. It prompts for password, then converted the Money 2004 file fine. No errors. Rebooted and logged on using a limited user account. Ran Money 2006. Asks for the password, then gives the following error dialog box: "The place you are trying to reach only functions in the Business version of Money, and can't be used in the version you are using now. If you want to use this place you will have to upgrade to Microsoft Money Small Business." The "Send Error Report" button on the dialog box opens IExplorer and shows the following: DETAILS ID: obres:17005 Source: 15.0 We're sorry There is no additional information about this issue in the Error and Event Log Messages or Knowledge Base databases at this time. You can use the links in the Support area to determine whether any additional information might be available elsewhere.     - Budget Accounts/Do they Rollover? Hi, I'm trying to figure out Money 2005 to manage a budget my wife and I just recently started. Our idea for a budget is to take my paycheck (two times a month), and split it into categories based on our spending. These categories almost become mini-accounts from which I make deposits too, and issue expenses from. These categories would be "filled" each time I get paid, for example, the check I get the 15th gets split between the phone bill, electricity, mortgage, whereas the check on the 30th is split into the Doctor, Gifts, and Insurance categories I main idea we had behind a budget is that all these categories are mini-accounts, where money is added to them, and expenses take this money away. These categories also would rollover unused money, that is if I put in $50 for an expense, and only spend $35, next month I'll have $65 the next month. My questions are 1) Does money support adding to categories like I explained above, I'd basically like to click a button when I get paid in the middle of the month, and the paycheck is "deposited" into these different categories. 2) Do the categories rollover? This is essential for a "Vacation" category for example, it's not like I'll be spending $X a month, each month on vacations. I want to see some sort of accumulation when I don't spend.     - mortgage account questions I have two questions about mortgage accounts in Money '03 standard. I setup a mortgage account to track P&I paid on my home's mortgage and linked it to an assest account representing the house. 1.) I setup all the particulars about the loan (interest rate, monthly payment, length of loan, etc) ok but when I go to enter a regular payment, the P&I calculations are way off by at least $100. How can I make sure the calculations are correct? I want to use this account to also double check my lender's calculations and if I have to manually enter the P&I portions every time it defeats this purpose. 2.) Is there any way to enter a negative amount of principal and transfer this amount back into the checking account from which it was paid. I had a billing issue where a payment was "backed-out" and I would like to categorize this transaction as accurately as possible. When I tried entering a negative principal payment, the transaction just disappeared wtihout any pop up dialogs, warnings, etc. Also, the mortgage account does not show up in the drop-down when entering a new transfer transaction.     - Recording Deposits I am currently using M04SB and have a question about recordin deposits in my check register. When I deposit several checks at the ATM and the deposit is downloade during internet updates, I have no way (that I know of) to seperat the Payor's of these checks for the single deposit. Yes, I can do split but that is only for catagory Can anyone tell me if this is the same in M06 or if it has changed? Does anyone know a way around this other than manually entering eac check?     - Shrinking a Money File I just upgraded to Money 2006 and I archived all my records prior to 01/01/2004. Is there a way to now shrink my money file in size? It's still at 20 Megs, same as it was before the archive. I assume since a majority of the data has been archive that I can compress all the open space in the file?     - Mutual fund association - Fidelity Hello, I had been tracking a 401K manually until recently, when I imported the online Fidelity information. I clicked through the association for one of my funds. Now, whenever it loads the data from the online services it will never try to re-associate the fund so it will keep my old data and try to import the the new data so that it is double counted under different names.     - Quotes problem in 2006 I am getting some weird results last two days with quotes in that two of my mutual funds that closed Friday at $30 + prices are being listed as $7 causing quite a stir in my portfolio. I double checked them on MSN and was able to delete the faulty prices (going to manual update). When I download new quotes the prices seem right so I am suspecting Morgan Keegan download as the culprit. I sent them an email. I have a dell financial credit card. Well it is not a credit card because I
can only use it at dell. It is a dell prefered card. The problem I have is
that it does not display on pocket pc version because it is not considered a
credit card. I have it right now set under loan and liabilities. Is there
something I am doing wrong? Should I set up a dell prefered card as something
else, maybe there is a way to trick money into telling it that it is a credit
card.

Also because it is not a credit card it does not show up as one. There for
when it shows my credit card balances and ow much I owe on the credit cards
it does not show up because it is under another category.

Any help is appreciated. I hope I explained it correctly.

Currently I am using money 2006, but...
I was using money 2005, and that is where I had the problem with pocket pc.
Even if it does not show up in Pocket PC ( Since there is no version of 2006
Pocket Pc ) then I would like to at least get it to credit card status so I
can track it.

If you want it to show on the PPC, you'll need to change it to a Credit Card
account type
