    - 401(k) Manager Calculations I've been using the 401(k) Manager to update my portfolio with my quarterly statement (since Money 2002 Deluxe). A real annoyance, still around in Money 2006 Deluxe, is the rounding off, causing discrepancies. After inputting the statement date and statement total, you update Quantities and Prices below and Money calculates the Market Value. Quantity, Price and Market Value are all updateable fields. If I enter the Quantity on my statement, rounded to three decimal positions, the Market value is frequently off a few cents. What I must do is manually calculate (Market Value/Price) to get the Quantity to more than three decimal positions, then input all this information so Money can calculate the Market Value. Since we can type in the field called â??Market Valueâ??, couldnâ??t Microsoft provide a â??backwards calculationâ?? for us? Example, Iâ??d like to type in Price and Market Value and let Money calculate the Quantity for me, and update the field beyond three decimal points. Any suggestions?     - 'Balancing' 401k fund through quarterly statement I have an employer 401K that cannot be updated via auto-update (i.e. their mutual fund offerings are internal and do not have a 'real' stock ticker symbol). In previous versions of Money (previous to 2006) there was an option that was called something like 'Balance 401k' or 'Enter 401k statement' or something like that - this was used to enter the prices from your quarterly (or whatever) statement into money so it would at least have somewhat correct prices. However, I know longer see this option anywhere in my investment portfolio menus... So how does one now enter this information from their quarterly statement into Money? Thanks in advance.     - Accept Stock Sell Transfer in Checking Account I recently sold some stock and as part of the transaction, Money asked me what account the proceeds were transferring too. I chose my checking account and all seemed fine. The problem is that when I downloaded my checking data from my bank, the transaction matched, but Money won't allow me to accept the transaction. Even after reconciling my last statement, Money shows me "Item to review" and clicking the Accept button (or right clicking and choosing accept) has no effect. Any ideas?     - Budget question - Money 2006 Canadian All, I have a question. I am struggling setting up the budget for my income. Problem is that we get salary increases in Mid year, and Money 2006 is reporting the paychecks trough the year (it will be nice, but) Any idea how to setup the budget when Paycheck 1 is till may, and Paycheck 2 starts in June?     - Microsoft Responds As I stated in a previous post, I'm not able to use the auto-update feature to down load Bank of America account info. I sent an email to Ms Support regarding this and received the following: "Based on the current research, I would like to let you know that Bank of America (California) implemented a new security feature named "SiteKey", which requires us to identify an image besides entering the log-on information. Thus, the account information cannot be downloaded from the financial ins titution into Microsoft Money 2006. Recently, we have received a few feedbacks from several customers pertaining to this issue. After collecting the relevant information, we have immediately reported the issue to our Product Group for further investigation. Microsoft and Yodlee, one of our partners, are working closely with the finan cial institution and making every effort to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Your continuous patience and understanding are highly appreciated. At this time, I suggest we visit the financial institution's website, manually download the statement files to the local hard drive, and import them into Microsoft Money 2006.     - Money 2006 and CapitalOne Card I have two capital one cards. I added one to the online update feature and its working good. When I try to add a second card I always get an error saying that the card cannot be added because it already exists, and that if it has been deleted to wait a day and then try again.     - Can't remove hidden transaction I have a hidden transaction (i.e., shows up in Reports but not in the Account Register) that I cannot remove. It's preventing me from balancing an account.     - Download stock and mutual funds from Brazilian quotes Hi, guys ! I would like to hear from you whether it is possible for me to configure money to automatically download stocks and mutual funds from the Brazilian stocks market (BOVESPA). I have allready searched in various sites and FAQs, but did not find any answer to this. Only a restricted groups of countries are listed on Money Central website, and Brazil is not one of those, so this makes me think that perhaps it is not easily integrated into the default onlineservices of Money (2006, my version). But, as such need is rather universal, perhaps someone may have alread established a way to update online, via webservices or directly into the .mny file. Updating everyday manually is too much hardwork for those who have more than a couple of stocks and mutual funds.     - Online Updates through Yodlee Here we go again!! It has been 3 days since any of my accounts that use Yodlee interface have updated successfully. Anyone else having this issue? Money 2005 .... I really don't have the time to spend again with Microsoft Support to try to get this resolved. The norm has been to pretty much destroy my system in the course of proving to Microsoft that the issue is on their end, not my computer system environment. Dependency on Microsoft maintaining their interface to Yodlee is a joke. Interestingly, I can log on to my Yodlee Oncenter account and all of my accounts have current information.     - Symbol Updating Only Every Few Days (if at all) Using Money 2006, and have a symbol "VLO" that is only updating every few days. This stock was a duplicate (downloaded transaction created a new version of the same stock - my fault not clicking correct choice when asked). I've removed the symbol from the stock entry that was downloaded, renamed this entry to something bogus, deleting this renamed stock "from all accounts", then added the symbol back to the original VLO stock that I've been tracking for years. Now the stock just says "unch" in the portfolio view, and the price history is only updated 4 times in last month or so. All other stocks in the portfolio are updating normally. Any ideas? I've tried removing the symbol, restarting Money, adding symbol back, renaming the stock (currently it is "Valero Energy Corp.") Thanks in advance.     - Duplication of transactions and splits When I close Money 2005 & open it back up- many of my transactions have been duplicated and the split categories are all broken out into separate transactions. For example, if I take $100 out of the ATM & them use the split function to show $20 food, $30 entertainment, and $50 clothing- the next time I open up money, I will have 2 or 3 $100 ATM transactions & separate transaction lines for all the split categories. Further, when I try to delete the transactions, many times I get the error message that they cannot be deleted. Most are manual transaction- some are downloaded. It's SO frustrating, can anyone help?     - Upgrade from Money 2004 to Money 2006 problems I downloaded Money 2006 and because the Money 2004 was such a mess, I decided to start from scratch. I started a new file and manually entered all of my investment positions in three accounts at a brokerage on 1/16/2006. Now my new setup has hundreds of transactions dating back to 2004 that it wants to add to my new, manually set up file. I only want transactions from 1/16/2006 forward to go into my file. How do I keepe the old transactions from messing up my new file. For example, there are buys and sell of stock, dividend, stock splits. I don't want any of these to download.     - Using Money 2006 to help with US income tax by hand or with tax software installed on your computer Income tax season in the US is coming. There are various things that a user of Microsoft Money should consider. Microsoft Money is very good at producing the information for schedule D, if you have been downloading or entering your Buys and Sells. That is really nice. TaxCut and TurboTax are the only two income tax programs that use this data directly AFAIK. If you do not have that many sells, you can copy the data from Money's tax reports by hand into cheaper tax programs, such as TaxAct. While Microsoft Money can produce entries for other things like dividends, interest, W-2, etc, few people keep the data perfectly. Some of the items recorded as dividends may be return of capital or other special cases. Since you will be sent 1099s and perhaps 1098s for these, it will usually be best IMO to use the 1099 data where it is provided. Preparing the Schedule D is one of the best thing the Money program does for me. Both TaxCut and TurboTax can import the TXF (Tax eXportFiles) files that Money produces. If I were preparing a schedule C, the data that Money can send to the tax program would be very useful. You do not get 1099s for that information, for the most part. But I don't do that now. If you itemize, the schedule A information should be useful. There can be other things that Money can track and provide the information for your tax return So how do I proceed ? In Money 2006, Taxes->TaxTools->ExportToTaxSoftware Set the ReviewTaxesFor drop-down to Completed2005TaxYear. Continue. Select the items that you want Money to send to the tax program, and de-select those things that you will instead pull off of the 1099s. This may be Schedule A, Schedule C, and both long- and short-term capital gains, depending on your needs. In Money 2005 and 2006, if you want to print a tax report for yourself or your tax preparer, do not click Continue at this point. Instead click File->Print to print the selected tax information. This may be in two sections: the forms, line numbers and amounts for most of the selected items, and then the information for Schedule D. To pass information to TaxCut or TurboTax that are installed on your computer, , click Continue. This writeup is not written with the use of the on-line tax software in mind. If you plan to use online tax software, read elsewhere about that. I recommend that you not use the options for TaxCut or TurboTax, but instead choose UseTaxSoftware, and "Export your tax information as a data file you can use with any tax software program". This will produce a .txf file. I suggest you do not use the FileByHand, UseTurboTax, or UseACPA choices in Money 2005 or 2006. Start your tax program. Make a copy of your tax file under another name. Then File->Import the .txf file. If you see that you selected the wrong information for export/import go back to Money and re-select the items. Then go back to the copy of the tax program that you had not imported into yet, save another copy of that and File->Import the revised .txf file. It is a pain to have to wait fo it to play games accessing when I start it. They only website I want it to access is billpay.msn.com when I authorize a payment.     - Selling stock but not income? I'm using Money SB 2004. I recently sold shares of a fund in my retirement account and tranferred them directly into a money market account. When I run Money's Income/Spending report, it catagorizes this sell as income. Is that correct? My own stock sell isn't really income. Perhaps the equity part of it. However, in this case, there really is no income. Just a transfer. Before the transfer could take place, the sell had to occur. Money sees the sell and says "income".     - New to Money, need help with some basics I just purchased Money 2006 and have a some questions that I couldn't get answered through Help. I would like to be able to enter checks, debits and ATMs as they occur. It typically takes my bank about 2-3 days to clear the transaction before it could be automatically updated in Money, assuming the person I write the check to deposits it immediately. Essentially, I'd like Money to take the place of my checkbook register. Is there a way to enter everyday transactions manually? My other issue is how does Money know how to classify the transactions it downloads from my bank? For example, I may buy milk and bread (grocery) or gas (auto) at 7-Eleven. Will I have to go back through any transactions that are downloaded from the bank to be sure they go to the correct category?     - mutual fund prices not updating (again) Since Jan. 13, the Money 2004 version is NOT picking up mutual fund closing prices. It is truly annoying to have to look them up and manually enter them. Also, of concern is those poor users who rely on the valuations and do not even realize they aren't updating.     - Password Field Length I am trying to Synch Microsoft Money 2004 with BrownCo, but the password field only allows up to 8 characters. According to the FAQ on BrownCo... Do I need a separate password, User ID or PIN to download my data?     - Credit Card Payments/Transfers (repost) I reposted this b/c of the spam/junk that was used as a reply to my original post... I have a credit card account and I have two payment transactions. One was downloaded and categorized, the other entered manually. The one entered manually shows up as a "Transfer" (i.e. if you select the transaction, the Transfer tab is highlighted and there are "To" and "From" fields). In the downloaded transaction, I categorized it as a "Transfer: <Account Name>". This information shows up on the "Credit" tab in the register. Based on the traffic in this group, many of you are struggling with the issue of downloaded statements since upgrading to Money 2006. I have had this problem since upgrading from 2005 to 2006 in October. I had tried every solution identified from both Microsoft and others that were lucky enough to get things to work, but was not able to get anywhere. After a significant investment in time, I was finally able to isolate the issue to downloaded statements that have a specific character in them. In my case, these are always part of a credit voucher where the dowloaded file has a <br> in the transaction description line. Here's an example: PCREDIT VOUCHER<br>TARGET 00018564 If I remove the <br> from the file. The download works fine. With the <br> in the file the download occurs, but the "transactions to read" are not visible. This same file downloaded fine in Money 2005, but clearly is a problem in 2006. I have been able to download all my files once I edit this tag, but I clearly this is an issue that is caused by a change in the way Money handles QIF and OFX files.
